  1. Okay, so I fixed his backstory (using your suggestions, thank you), and as far as the sending out his consciousness, he was doing so through other sea life, via his Animal control with the sensory link extra. If I am misunderstanding the way that extra works, let me know and I'll work in some sort of esp power. As far as the question of him having a secret Identity, he doesn't, he goes strictly by Leviathan these days, but his real name is Veijlial, so I changed the wording from "Alternate Identity" to simply "Real Name" sorry for the misunderstanding.
  2. Okay, fixed the things you pointed out. I am aware of the problems he'll be facing due to his looks, and I am okay with that. As far as the question of his identity and what not, I imagine that to the world at large, he's known as Yeti. However, his friends still call him Scooter. It's not that it's a secret identity it's just that it was the name he was born with, so that's what he goes by. Like Benjamin Grimm is known as the Thing, but his friends still call him Ben don't they? So there's that. Thanks for the feedback and let me know if something else needs a changin'
  3. ok, I believe I fixed all the problems you listed. Also I took your advice on changing over suffocate to a fort save damage effect. I do realize that the darkness he creates will not be useable for teleport, totally ok with that. if you see any other problems let me know. Thanks for checking!
  4. Player Name:Eviscerus Character Name: Leviathan Power Level: 7 (108/112PP) Trade-Offs: -2 Attack / +2 Damage, -2 Defense / +2 Toughness Unspent Power Points: 4 Progress To Bronze Status: 7/30 In Brief: Deep One master of the deep dark ocean. Real Name: Veijlial Anathka'Un Identity: Leviathan Birthplace: Atlantis Occupation: Outcast Affiliations: None Family: Orphaned at birth, raised by sea creatures. Description: Age: 16 (DoB: 1995 Apparent Age: looks rather young for a monster Gender: Male Ethnicity: Deep One (Half Atlantean, Half Serpent Folk) Height: 5'7" Weight: 129 lbs Eyes: Black Hair: None Veijlial is frightening to behold, his body is covered in greenish-black scales, his black eyes are pupilless, his hands are clawed, and his mouth is full of sharp teeth. He always has a dour look upon his face, and has never been seen smiling. He dresses in blue robes so dark they look black unless light is directly hitting them, and he seems to be always covered in shadows. Power Descriptions: When in combat, Veijlial draws in the darkness around him, and shadowy tentacles seemingly erupt from his body. These tentacles constantly writhe about his body, and will strike or grab foes foolish enough to get close to him. Veijlial has complete control over darkness and water through magic. He can plunge a room into blackness, or fill it with the sea. He can fire black lightning bolts at his enemies from his tentacles, ensnare foes with them, and teleport from shadow to shadow. His most terrifying spell blends the two disciplines, the tentacles reach out, grabbing a foe as a pool of dark water forms beneath them, then they are plunged into the depths of the water and covered in darkness, drowning them. This spell even terrifies Veijlial, and he is loathe to use it but sparingly and never does he hold the spell long enough to actually kill anyone. History: Veijlial was born an abomination. The child of an antlantean mother, and serpent person father. Known as a Deep One, Veijlial's kind are not accepted anywhere within Atlantean society, and due to his father's outcast status for loving his Atlantean mother and vice versa, he was not accepted into Serpent People society, as he was considered a bad omen. So it was that he was abandoned to the sea at birth. He was not alone long, however, as his wailing caught the attention of various marine life. Somehow, Veijlial had called to them, and they came to his aid. And so it was that Veijlial's adopted family would be the sea life, from whale to giant squid, to fish. Living the way he did could sustain his body, he knew, but it wouldn't sustain his mind. And so he sent out his sea bretheren to Atlantis to provide him with knowledge. Sending out his consciousness to them he was able to see and study all he wanted. He learned to speak, read, and write Atlantean, Serpent People's tongue, as well as the language of the surface dwellers. He learned all he could, from books and listening in on the local Atlanteans, but by the time he was 10 years old, he had reached an empasse. He knew he had the potential to wield great power, but he knew no way of accessing his latent magical talent. He needed a master. Veijlial knew that simply approaching the nearest atlantean and asking for guidance would be fruitless, as well as dangerous. So he observed them, finding which ones had magical talent, and which of those were most likely to be open to teaching one such as him. Veijlial found his mentor in an old, crotchedy Atlantean named Jon, who seemed both amiable and reclusive. Veijlial approached him under cover of night, so as not to be seen by the populace, and pleaded with the man for guidance. Amused, the old master accepted, seeing in Veijlial the capacity for good despite all that life had thrown at him, as well as sensing some hidden destiny, a path to greatness that Jon must set him upon. And so Veijlial was taught the ways of magic. For the next six years he lived with Jon, learning all he could, and would have continued to do so, if tragedy had not struck. One day, while preparing for lessons, a group of Serpent People, busted into Jon's house, demanding that he hand Veijlial over. They mentioned something about his destiny, and the Serpent Scepter. Jon, however, would not be giving him up. He ordered Veijlial to run, saying that he'd be fine and that he could take care of these ruffians. Veijlial obeyed, and teleported away from danger. After some time had elapsed, Veijlial thought it might be safe to go back, and so he stepped through shadows, back into Jon's house to find it a shambles, and Jon dead on the floor. Grief overtook him then, and for a time he just sat there, cradling the old man's head in his lap. Eventually Veijlial came to, and he vowed to find these Serpent People and bring them to justice for what they've done. He sent out his aquatic friends to search, and the trail led inexplicably to the surface world, to a land called Freedom City, where the fish and the whales could not go. And so Veijlial set out to go to the surface, with his small amount of belongings he made his way to Freedom City, taking up the moniker Leviathan, so as to strike fear into those who he hunts, and to any who do not respect the mysteries and powers of the ocean. Personality & Motivation: Veijlial is as one would imagine, sullen and brooding, but not naturally violent, or prone to intimidating other to get what he wants. He never says two words where one would suffice, and he tries hard to keep to himself. However, he knows that to find his master's killers and bring them to some sort of justice that he will need help. So Veijlial must grudgingly forego his policy of non-involvement and make some friends and allies. Powers & Tactics: Veijlial prefers to hang back in the shadows, teleporting from place to place and blasting his foes with black bolts of lightning. However if cornered, he will not hesitate to lash out with his tentacles, grappling foes or striking them. Only under the most dire of circumstances will he use his most powerful and terrifying spells. He has been known to use some improvisational techniques, coming up with spells on the fly to fit a certain situation. Complications: Appearance: Veijlial is not the pretties person to behold, and so people are naturally frightened of him, this can cause problems since he needs help to solve his master's murder. Sullen, Brooding, Angsty: Like most teens, Veijlial is often depressed, or angry at his lot in life. He can come off a bit dark, and unfriendly at times, and so coupled with his looks, makes it doubly hard for him to make friends. 5. Player Name: Eviscerus Character Name: Yeti Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: -3 Attack +3 Damage, -3 Defense +3 Toughness Unspent Power Points:0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Poor redneck with a heart of gold, that swept floors for the wrong company. Resembles a certain horrific legendary monster. Alternate Identity: Enoch "Scooter" Talbot Identity: Yeti Birthplace: Claude, Texas USA Occupation: Custodial Engineer Affiliations: Claremont Academy Family: None Description: These days Scooter resembles a true monstrosity. Standing over 9 feet tall and coming in at just over half a ton, Yeti is a thick muscled, ball of white fur, that covers the back half of his body, while the front is mostly smooth. His skin does have a decidedly blue hue to it, much as someone in the early stages of frostbite. Yeti's eyes are a bright, almost golden yellow, that are mostly shadowed by a prominent brow. Yeti walks with a stoop, from trying to fit into doorways and in halls, and his overly long arms, ending in clawed hands, almost drag the floor. Yeti is often seen in the orange coveralls he wears to work, as it is almost impossible to find clothes to fit him that are not custom made (which on a janitor's salary is not easy to afford). This outfit doubles as his costume, but for leisure activities he has been known to wear a pair of blue jeans and a black t-shirt. When the occasion calls for formal dress, he owns only one suit, a black pinstripe number with white shirt, red tie, and a black fedora. Age: 24 (DoB: 1986 [Optionally, Day & Month]) Apparent Age: Hard to tell under all that fur and fangs Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 9'3" Weight:1300 lbs Eyes: Yellow Hair: White (Describe what they look like!) Power Descriptions: History: Scooter Talbot was born in the smallest of towns: Claude, Texas. Claude doesn't sport much of what one would consider amenities common to the modern age. There is no Pizza Hut, no public park, no mall, and no public transportation system. Claude is the kind of town where everyone waves to everyone, and there are more antique stores per capita than restaurants. It is in such a friendly environment that Scooter was raised. From the day he was born Scooter did nothing but laugh, smile, and love his family. In a world where people were praised for cynicism and sarcasm, Scooter somehow found the inner tranquility to be friendly to all, and never utter a foul sentiment for his fellow man. Scooter's life was not without tragedy, however. On the eve of his 22nd birthday, Scooter's entire family was killed when the RV they were traveling in was impacted head on by an 18-wheeler, whose driver had fallen asleep at the wheel. Scooter was the only survivor. Scooter tried to continue with his life, but every corner he turned in his hometown brought him face to face the ghost of his family's memory. And so it was that Scooter headed north, to Freedom City, to start a new life. Settling into a small studio apartment in Freedom City's Midtown area, Scooter sought employment with a nearby pharmaceutical company owned by Grant Conglomerates. Little did he know that the pharmaceutical lab he was to be janitor of was a secret testing sight for the DNAscent project, and the only reason he was chosen for the job was due to his perfect health examination and lack of social and familial ties. In essence, he was the perfect guiney pig. It wasn't long after Scooter started his new job that he was drugged and imprisoned for experimentation. Scooter stayed a captive for months before the experiments began, and in that time, he'd been able to talk a fellow prisoner into giving him his secret stash of the strength boosting drug Max. When Scooter's time finally came, he took the drug and attempted to escape, but was overpowered by guards. When the DNAscent process mixed with the drug that was already in his system, the side effects were much more than the researchers were ready for. Scooter grew to just over nine feet tall, sprouted coarse, thick white fur, and grew enough muscle to burst through his pathetic restraints. In a terrified, drug addled rage, Scooter knocked down the walls of the laboratory and escaped his confinement, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. Scooter soon came out of his drugged, semi-lucid state to find himself in an alley near his home. Not knowing who to turn to, he wrapped himself in rags a homeless man was kind enough to lend him and hustled back to his apartment. For the next several days his body was wracked with agonizing pain as the final stages of the DNAscent process augmented his body. When he was finally feeling halfway normal, Scooter discovered that he could see perfectly in the dark as well as smell things in far greater detail, he used this newfound gift to track down the homeless man who was kind to him. When Scooter happened upon the man, he found him being accosted by thugs, hyped up on Zoom and Max. In a sudden outburst of rage that Scooter had never known before, he roared and charged the thugs, knocking two of the biggest out while scattering the others to the wind. When the rage passed, Scooter realized that the mutations had also instilled in him some primal tendencies. Scooter vowed to control these animalistic urges and to put his powers to good use, as so many others did throughout Freedom City. Scooter soon found, however, that being a crime fighter doesn't pay the bills very well, and seeing as he was a hulking monstrosity, he had no idea what to do about a normal job. One day while on patrol, however, Scooter noticed a school full of strange and gifted teens, none of them looked at him like he was some kind of freak, and so he decided to apply for a janitorial position at Claremont Academy. Personality & Motivation: Yeti is one of the kindest, and most amiable people one would ever meet. He is always upbeat and doesn't let his appearance or his situation get him down. One thing Scooter hopes to do is find out both who is behind the DNAscent project (he doesn't know it by that name, he just calls it "those awful people that changed me", as well as find a way to rid the entire city of the infernal Zoom and Max drugs. Yeti feels that these things are dangerous, and the reason why he was given these powers is to make sure that the evil scientists that are responsible for every aspect of his transformation get their come uppance! Powers & Tactics: Yeti is a straight-forward brawler. He has no finesse, and even less practical training. This does not stop him, however, from using guile, as he has been known to pull off some interesting moves. When coming upon a foe he has not faced before, he doesn't throw all his strength into every punch. Scooter only had to go through about three doors and walls before he learned that his strength could be devastating. So he'll lead in with accurate attacks first, and if the situation calls for it, he'll go to town. Sometimes, Scooter will wake up and find his bed, wall, or some other part of his house frozen in ice. He believes that his powers are not done evolving, and he will one day learn mastery over ice and snow. Complications: Appearance: Yeti is a monstrous, horrifying thing to behold, and most people react accordingly. This can throw Yeti into spirals of depression, as his social and jovial personality suffer from his looks. Just a small town boy: Yeti is from the south... and it shows! His thick southern drawl sometimes causes those around him to believe that he is stupid, or simple. This is not the case, however, so Scooter is quite aware of the jibes people sometimes toss his way. Animalistic tendencies: Due to the splicing of his genes, Yeti has picked up some less than civilised instincts. He has been known to have a slight temper when someone is hurting a fellow human being, or when seeing drug abuse, or when being mocked for his looks/size. His instincts and his humanity are constantly at war, and so he is quite clumsy, both in social situations, and in the more "bull in the china shop" meaning of the term. Zealot huffs out a breath as the gremlins disappear from the mall, he takes stock of his surroundings and nods appreciatively. Zealot looked to the tattered clothed here and spat, "There, it's over. If it hadn't been for me you so called heroes and these creatures would have been battering at each other for all eternity. Not every situation can be solved with fists. Sometimes you need a brain. Which is something most of you do gooders don't have." Without another word Zealot walks out of the mall and into the city streets, feeling a twang of regret for not letting the gremlins have a chance at eating the heroes of this acerebral mall. ~fin~
  7. Without a word, River Rat stumbles into Danger mansion, his eyes are wide and dark circles surround them. Dirt, soot and other debris have stained his silk suit and left him looking much like a deranged hobo. Jackie plops down upon a makeshift cot and breathes out a heavy sigh. "Uhm, excuse me sir?" One of the other refugees adresses the sooty hero. "You're.. uhm... you're on fire a little bit." Slowly Jackie turns his head and finds that a few loose threads of his destroyed suit are still alight like tiny candles. "Huh, well don't that beat all." Jackie absent mindedly licks his fingers and extinguishes the flames before continuing his staring into nothing.
  8. no problem. It's a penetrating perception range damage effect, DC 21 toughness save.
  9. River Rat's staying behind cover and unleashing another accidental blast at the stunned sorcerer.
  10. River Rat narrowly ducks behind cover as eldritch blasts erupt around his head. One of the robed sorcerers attacks fly wide and hit a pylon, sending a chunk of concrete zipping towards the dizzied practitioner, connecting solidly with the man's chest. "Now that's what I call a bad beat!"
  11. Streaking into an alley ona road of fire, Spitfire arrived near the immense party. Having newly found himself out of a job due to an explosive coming out at the Carnival, Max was looking to have a good time and mingle in his oh so awesome costume. Fixing his scalp/hairpiece, Max walked out among the other party-goers. He smiled as some snickered at his costume and trundled to find the nearest place selling a bite to eat.
  12. River Rat smiles and nods to Atlas. "Thanks, big man." River Rat looks to be thinking for a second, before putting away his money clip. "Seein' as I've got to keep up my persona of nouveau riche with not enough to spend his money on, how's about I do this," Jackie throws the money clip, without the money attached into the pot. "If any of you fine folk manage to bust me, you can take that home with ya. Those are real diamons and that's 24 karat gold. It's a bit gaudy, I admit, but if it don't fit yer style you could always sell it or somethin'. If I don't go out, I'll take it back and bring it back as incentive to beat me next week."

Okies, power stunting my device to get a burst nullify effect. It'll be bascially this: Nullify 10 (All magic powers at once) [Flaw] Hopefully that will nullify the magical constructs as well as the powers the envelope is giving off, if closing it completely didn't do the trick.

"Cursed beasts! Cursed witches! Cursed blundering do-gooders!" Zealot spat inflammatory remakrs as he spun around avoiding the claws around him. Rather than stopping these shenanigans he'd only continued them so far, and as such vented his rage by cursing everything he'd come in contact with for the last few minutes. Zealot quickly closed the envelope, attempting to stem the tide of gremlins around them as he stuck his scourge against the ground, sending out a burst of red energy to nullify the magics surrounding him.
  15. "Fraid to say that the standard human procedure is to run around like fools and trample each other to death in these situations. Bein' polarizin' figures of power basically helps to quell that instinct, though not entirely. Scare these people enough and they'll be more a danger to themselves than the so called "demons" out there." Spitfire turns to the newcomer child with the toolbox. "You said they're immune to fire eh? Well that sorta limits my capabilities. To be honest, it downright handicaps me. I'll be sure to bring this up to the next committee that plans a planetary invasion, but that don't mean I'm free to run around skeered for my life. You got anything in that there box that can even the playin' field fer me?" Maxie looks to the doctor with the funny accent and nods. "Alright hoss, it's yer show, I'll help the floating bein' of shifty stuff but like I said, I'd need some equalizers. Since the boy'll be helpin' ye with the transporter, might you be lettin' one o' yer security guards loan me a gun?"
  16. lol, well maybe some sort of mix of all three? He falls to pieces, which sends people scattering in fear, and the grilled chickens jump up and start attacking kids with cotton candy! Classic!
  17. That system might work except for the fact that no matter how terrible or good your starting hand is, there's always the chance the flop could come out in your favor. If someone rolled a twenty, no amount of bluffing with your proposed system would keep someone from playing their "Big Slick" or "Pocket Rockets." One thing that might help is if the result on the unmodified D20 we added as a situational bonus to bluff/sense motive checks, but that's just adding another level of complication to the system. I think the idea with the ref PM'ing hands to people and letting them roleplay their hand out would be the most fun solution. It's up to everyone else though, I'll go along with anything.
  18. Jackie nods as Colt gives the rundown of the betting mechanics to Grim. "Also, whatever we set as the blinds determines the minimum bet. Most poker games say that minimum bet is the big blind. So say that we set the small blind at a quarter and the big blind at fifty cents, then the minimum bet would be fifty cents, darlin'." Jackie smiles at everyone at the table and pulls back his fat, diamond encrusted money clip and flips out a hundred dollar bill. "Since we're keepin' this game low buy in, anyone got change fer a hunnerd?"
  19. Menagerie Stage Maxie turned to Bertram and smiled. Unlike most of his smiles this one was tinged with a small bit of sadness. "It's been fun sir, these past few years. Do me a favor and let Deedra know that after this show I'll be giving my notice. There's a big world out there Bertram, and I aim ta get me mah share of it." Before Bertram could protest or ask what was going on, Maxie stepped into the contraption and closed the door. Stunned and unable to think, Bertram closed the door and started the timer. "The Countdown has begun!" Bertram announced to the expectant crowd. For Bertram, the passing thirty seconds were an eternity. Thoughts and emotions broiled within him, he couldn't get his head around what the boy was doing, or planning. Whatever it was, he was sure it wasn't going to be a logical and rational decision. After the eternity inside half a minute, Bertram turned to the door and tried to open it, but found it stuck. "Oh lord, boy don't you do this!" Maxie heard Bertram's exasperated plea but only smiled. For the last thirty seconds he'd been building up heat, getting ready for something spectacular. "Get away from the door Bertram! I got a show to do!" Just then the whole contraption started to glow slightly, becoming red, then white hot. Bertram was stunned for a few seconds, watching the past replay before his very eyes. Bertram quickly came to his senses and set off down the stairs at a demonic pace. As he reached the bottom the chamber could no longer sustain itself and exploded outward, chunks of molten metal flying out over the crowd, but dissipating into ash before touching the ground. The conflagaration was an enormous spectacle that could be seen for miles if one had a clear view to the park. It was as if a bomb had gone off on the stage. The speakers, the poles, the very ground beneath the blast was reduced to cinders. Some people screamed, most were flabergasted by what they saw. When the smoke cleared, Maxie stood, arms outstretched towards the sky as if in praise to the gods, and completely unharmed. As he took a small bow a scattering of applause started from within the crowd, then more took up the chorus until there was a screaming, clapping mob before Maxie, giving him a standing ovation. Let's see them try and forget THAT!
  20. Jackie looks as the newcomer levels a blast upon the monologuing warlock. "Well now ya gone and done it. Now they're really mad." Jackie moves to duck for some cover of a parked car as he sent another car with a scared driver behind the wheel barrelling into one of the robed figures. "Lady Luck don't take kindly to those who'd try and hurt her favored son, hope that face full of buick reminds you of that!"
  21. Okay, since it seems like I'm at the top of the initiative order, I guess I'll go first. Gonna go with a perception range penetrating damage effect. which is a measley DC 21 toughness save, but let's hope it sticks. Edit: Using move action to move for cover of some sort, if there is any.
  22. Sorry if I caused any delay of game! but I'm here now!
