  1. Fair enough. Well, I know I want CO, and it sounds like Morph by itself more than likely won't cut it for IDs, so I'll just submit the change for approval and updating :)
  2. I am back, safe and sound! Need to play that game, some day.
  3. I am reviving this topic, especially since Thevshi popped in to say she might be interested in coming back. it sounds like Nightrival might have moved on without my character (as well he should have), and Grim does like teaming up with other heroes. Who's still up for it?
  4. Any answer on my last question? C'mon, these PP are burning a hole in my pocket! :D
  5. This all sounds very cool - look for a reply from in PM's. Also, hi Thev! I'd be very happy to have Grim and Velo meet up again
  6. Well even though I just did the one post in News area, I figured I should let people know I will be out of town from this Weds to next Monday night. I'm off to D.C. for a friend's wedding and a bit of sightseeing; it's my first time in the capitol, and I'm really looking forward to it! :D
  7. Mostly I'd be looking for something to pass visual inspection, that could be handed to someone and handed back; modern ID often contain holograms and whatnot, which would be the really tricky part.
  8. Going back to what Shaen was talking about, would a fake ID be something that could be created with Morph, either by itself or under the Improvised Tools feat as he suggested?
  9. March 29th, 2009 So here I am, riding the rails back to Old F.C. once again. The last time I did this I was running away from home, but now it's perfectly clear: Freedom is my home, the one place in the world where I belong, the only city where I feel sane. In a few days, I'll be back where the people are flying, the monkeys are talking and it all somehow makes sense. I was scared when I left, scared of what I could become, but I'm not scared anymore; evolution is part of nature, and it'd be crazy to try and stop it. I know my own heart and I know my own mind, and by those two bright stars I will navigate the sea of doubt, past the sirens and the rocks, and all the folks saying "You can't do that!" I'm gonna try and forget about Seattle; not pretend like it didn't happen, but not letting in run my life, either. But it won't be easy. God, I miss Ren so much! Looking out the boxcar at the snowy fields of Indiana whipping past, I can almost feel his arms around me, his chin just barely resting on the top of my head... Enough! Move on! The hurt's not going to go away, not for a while, but you can either mope and sulk and go all gothy, or you can do something now to make it better. - - - - Ok, I jumped and threw myself around the boxcar like a badger on speed, and it felt good. I am ready to find some street punk, stand invisibly behind him, and sucker-punch him while he's holding up a liquor store. That's what life is all about, boys and girls! That and getting stupid splinters in your hands from the inside of a stupid boxcar - grr! These things really itch.
  10. Looking at Divine's sheet reminded me of my plans for Grim's next power; Grim is basically a faerie who controls glamour, mostly the stuff she herself is made from but perhaps being able to summon forth larger amounts now that she's getting to be more powerful. This glamour would be used for her to make 'props' to aid in her disguises beyond the clothes she can conjure up at will, or useful items she would only use occasionally. I was thinking of spending 4 pp to get one rank of CO with Range dropped to Touch, the Duration extra and Precise and Subtle feats. First of all, is my gamer math right? If it would be more than 4, let me know, I could maybe make do without Duration. The second point is, how detailed are talking here? Could she make convincing fake IDs, assume she's studied the original closely? Could make something as complicated as a single speed bike, or is that really pushing it? Thanks!
  11. Ah, dark tormented vigilantes still running around in packs? The more things change... To the unfamiliar, Grimalkin aka 'Grim' is a young shapeshifter who is something like a mixture of Mystique, Catwoman and Kitty Pryde; a former petty thief, she eventually used her powers for good. She was also training to be Nightrival's sidekick while dating a supervillain named Nanowire before she abruptly left town (i.e. I stopped posting).
  12. Well I'm a guy who plays female characters a lot, so I never want to assume Aw, thanks Doc! Looking over you very cool timeline, I think Grim disappeared at the time she was undercover as Whisper during the Golden calf robbery; 'Whisper' provided the combination to the safe, and then poof, she's gone. In her inner monologue, she was very uncomfortable with the whole thing, so I was thinking maybe she just took off, unable to maintain the criminal attitude. She then went to Nano and they skipped town, the details of which can be revealed over time. And I've chatted with Veiled Malice, and he is fine with me doing as I wish with Nano, since he has no intention of playing him again. The real fun would be her seeking out Nightrival, who I see is still active, and trying to mend some fences, assuming Shadowboxer will take me back There are a few old plotlines we might have to smooth over, but I think it's doable. And I went back to my Grim avatar :D
  13. Why thank you, Moira, I- Good God, your character is hot!  Oops, did I say that outloud? Very nice avatar, sig and character pic, sir or ma'am!
  14. Hello, all! Many of you don't know me, but some of the old timers do; I mostly played one character in way too many games, and I have found that I really miss her. Is there any way I could bring Grimalkin back? Just in one or two threads, not crazy like before. I have some ideas to reinsert her back into continuity and explain her absence.
  15. Hi guys! Yes, it's your old Uncle Heritage popping in to say hello, offer pre-holiday greetings to all, and to give folks an update on my slowly-gestating comic book 'Grimalkin', which will hopefully make its digital debut on the web by the end of next year. I've been working with talented SF-based artist Thom Chiaramonte (view his many works at http://www.thirdraildesignlab.com/) to develop the various characters in the comic, and he recently completed this awesome concept piece for the titular anti-heroine/heroine/villainess/heroine again character, and I must say Grim looks swell. However, her current form is almost entirely due to the stories I played in here, and for that I cannot thank you all enough; you made me realize that her youth and feistiness are what make her fun and sympathetic, and that's a debt that can never be paid in full. Thanks again for all the great fun I had here, happy holidays if I don't pop back in before the holidays, and enjoy the image linked below! http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k240/ ... finfin.jpg p.s. the forums on Thom's website are a blast and a frequent hangout out of mine - be sure to check 'em out! http://www.thirdraildesignlab.com/forum/
  16. I give anyone freedom to NPC as much as they need to in the name of tying up loose ends; I really wanted to finish my threads, but literally nothing came when I sat down to write  By all means, let's stay in touch; that goes for everyone, really ;)
  17. Crap. I think it's been pretty obvious my posting has dropped off to the level of nothing over the last few months, and I think it's time I admitted to myself and to all of you that I'm no longer an active member of this website. It bothers me a great deal that my characters are involved in several games here and my leaving puts both players and GMs at a disadvantage, but at least they might now be free to move on and take the stories in new directions without my lack of posting gumming up the works. I think partly it's my personality that makes me lose creative focus in online gaming after a while, but I also know that ironically this website reignited my passion to get the story of Grimalkin published by making me see the character in a new light, which would not have been possible without the amazing creative energies of Shadowboxer and Veiled Malice as well as all the great GMs who run games here. When I think of the character now, I need to take her my own direction and to my own world, a world far removed from the Silver-tinged splendor of this Freedom City. I apologize sincerely for any problems and/or continuity glitches this creates in any stories, and I hope all of you continue to share amazing adventures together. I may well drop in to say hi from time to time, but for all intents and purposes this is good-bye. Go in peace, my friends  Bob Karcher aka Heritage (chimera367@yahoo.com)
  18. They don't remember a time with only three major networks, where you could change the channel by turning a plastic knob or having to fiddle with rabbit ears. Then again, some of you youngin's here might not remember that, either ;)
  19. So how are we handling stuff with IC still being down? And just how bad did Grim get bopped, if you recall?
  20. Grim has been silent since she first heard her own voice calling someone 'Dad'; to her discerning ears, it's not exactly the same, but it's certainly close enough to make the hair on the back of her neck rise. She's been straining to here the rest of the conversation, but it's difficult to make out and she's also fairly conflicted about eavesdropping on an emotional conversation her half-self is having, a half-self that apparently has loving family, or at least part of one. Suddenly she realizes Ren is talking and mentioning her name and she snaps out of it, looking from Ren's handsome familiar face to Magister's...disturbing familiar one. When she finally speaks, there is a just a hint of a panicked giggle in her voice. "Making introductions, are we? That's nice! I'm your unhalf-sister, or something like that, which my tiny brain can't seem to wrap itself around." She grabs the newcomer's hand with both of hers and shakes it vigorously. "Grimalkin from the other Earth, howya doin'? Sorry we so utterly screwed up your lives, but what the hey, that's heroes are good at, right? Messing things up, sticking our stupid noses where they don't belong?" Her gleeful strained facade finally cracks as tears pool in her eyes and her voice goes tight. "I'm so sorry; we had no idea...everything's wrong and messed up and horrible..." She turns to look at Ren with pleading eyes. "We have to fix it, right? We have to make it better. Even if it means..." She turns back to Magister and smiles through her tears. "Hi, I'm your half-sister, I think, and I don't know...if you'll exist, if we fix this." She steps over to him and does her best to hug him.
  21. I understand. I'm not sure why I never heard back from Cos; maybe rumors of his return were greatly exaggerated?
  22. I will post here tonight/early tomorrow.
  23. Gossamer sits up and smirks. "In this case, I'm glad you chose to mention it; I won't press you, partly because I don't wish to make you uncomfortable, and partly because I'm not sure...how far such a relationship could go, for a wide variety of reasons." The blond heroine nods. "All in good time, we don't need to rush into anything; as I said, I need to work a bit more on my guitar. And I know people who know people; maybe we can some local or even national acts to sign on." Gossamer stretches and shakes her head as though to rouse herself, sending ripples throughout her resplendent golden mane. "So, patrolling; would you be up for trying that sometime this week? I'd hate to cut into your exciting paperwork schedule, but I'm free most nights."
  24. I think RL has been cutting into Vaal's ability to post, for both the reasons he listed above as well as I believe a newborn. You might want to archive the OOC for now, we can always request to have it unarchived later, right?
  25. And here's Grim's roll.
