  1. The Boost is what we're still discussing, but because it's a holiday weekend, there's not much discussion going on. I don't know if it's a major problem, but even if you change it, you'll probably only get one approval prior to Monday.
  2. As an attack, throwing something is considered a standard action. The same is true if you're throwing something at a specific target, like a football. Simply dropping something on the ground is a free action. I'm guessing this is in reference to disarming, where you're looking to throw the offending weapon "away", wherever away might be. I'd say that a move action is appropriate.

  5. I seem to remember that when you were describing this character earlier, you had thought that he would only be in "dead form" in the presence of certain kinds of energies. Is that still the case? If so, he'd probably have to reduce the value of his "mute" and "unhealing" drawbacks, but gain a normal identity drawback which would compensate. What could be used to heal him? Only the Vampiric extra? You can't buy ranks of Toughness directly. I'll assume that means you were buying equal ranks of Protection, which is nearly the same thing. You have +1 from your Constitution, so you're a point overspent there. Lastly, I don't have UP at home (yep, home for Thanksgiving), but if someone tells me that the cost for Counters Concealment is correct, you look just about ready.

  8. Reading the covers of some comics is enough to get an idea of how to act in Mutants and Masterminds. I recommend this site.

  11. Ah, alright. Yeah, that's not a problem. From now on, though, you should describe what "mode" the shapeshift is in when you start a battle. Here, it was clear that it was still the Healing, but it'll be a concern in new storylines. Also, bear in mind that Shapeshift is described as being for the physical traits of the assumed form. Healing is a bit of a stretch, but ok for the purposes of the sparring match (since the story lags a little if you have to wait for Shadowboxer to heal). You might want to find another hero that can heal, or see about adding Healing as a power to your Headquarters. (Now, I'm picturing bacta tanks dotting the walls of Shinken's factory). The mode that you're in now in the parallel storyline is fine - Super-Senses, Notice, Super-Movement, and physical skills are all examples of physical traits.

  14. Please don't forget to post the rolls to see if your Shapeshifting works. It is Unreliable, and taking a full round during combat doing nothing can be a substantial drawback. I wasn't going to worry about the Healing since that's outside of combat, but you didn't mention before the fight began again that you were swapping back.

  17. So there, Heavy just used Extra Effort to get the following Alternate Power on his Flight: Spatial Control 5 (Flaw: Long Range Only, PF: Progression 2, Subtle) He's fatigued from the effort, and he'll stay that way for now. I can spend the Hero Point any time to un-fatigue if I need to. All that the Subtle means is that he's not registering on any seismographs or the like as he bends space - it's still pretty obvious that someone just appeared out of nowhere. Finally, note that he keeps that Alternate Power until he decides to use his Flight again. That could matter towards the end.

  20. "All right. Here, you take the card. I have an idea if we run into any supers that don't know me," Heavy says. "I don't think any of 'em know you. Nice thing about being new to town, eh?" He reaches out and puts his hand on Nanowire's shoulder. Inside his suit, he closes his eyes, the better to block out any distractions from his HUD. He knows where he's going, and he knows where he is - now, the challenge is to make them the same. He takes a deep breath and lets it out. When he next opens his eyes, he's standing in a display room near the archeology wing. It's notable only for not having a security camera pointed anywhere near where he and Nanowire have reappeared. He glances over to the man in the mecha. "Well, glad to see that worked. Oh, sorry about not giving you a warning. I hope it wasn't too weird - I've never seen what it looks like while I'm traveling," he says. It's clear that he's winded from his effort. He's speaking more slowly and his shoulders sag a little. "Let me know when you've connected with their mainframe, or whatever it's called." In the meantime, Heavy leans against the nearby wall to catch his breath.
  21. Despite the way he acts most of the time, Heavy actually is well above average in intelligence. He's just unknowledgeable about the details of a lot of things (thanks to the way that Knowledge skills can't be used untrained beyond DC 10). In his defense, he's very good at fixing cars. Oh, this isn't Car Talk: The RPG? Darn. By the way, if you have Freedom City 2nd edition, the meaning of that particular card can be found on page 206. He might get upset with someone stealing his schtick, but since we're destined to get caught anyway, I wasn't going to worry about it too much. Besides, I have an answer to that concern as well, if Nanowire knows enough about world-class thieves to recognize the card. :)

  24. Heavy nods his helmeted head slowly, and a little wearily. "Well, I've worked on it for a really long time, but I can't move anything I'm not touching, and I can't do little movements, only big ones. Otherwise, I'd just go in there myself, bring the book to me, and get out," he says. "And I could probably go in there and do a smash-and-grab, and maybe get away with the grimoire for a couple days, but my face'd be all over the security cameras, and I'd get supers on my trail. I'd either have to get rid of the thing fast - which means I can't get as much for it - or risk somebody catching me, throwing me in jail, and being even worse off than when I started," he continues. "With you, I figure you can erase any record of us, and all the curator sees when he comes in is an empty display case. They'll probably just try to keep on the down-low, so people don't find out that they were robbed. I brought one of these to seal the deal." He reaches down to where his pockets would be, if he weren't wearing a suit of armor, and presses a button. A small compartment opens, and Heavy pulls out a business card. He holds it up to show it to Nanowire. It looks like some sort of black bird, silhouetted by a red circle.
  25. "Yeah, sorry. I got a thing about not trusting a guy I only met last week too much. Like I said, I can get us inside the museum. I spent the week casing the museum, and there's a few places inside that don't have any cameras trained on 'em. Don't know if you could tell what exactly was hitting you, but I can control gravity a bit. I found that if I put enough of it in a tight enough package, I can bend space around. It only works with places I've mapped out pretty good, which is why I came here. It's sort of a weak spot - and it's within the range I can move. I can bring a bit of weight with me, which is why I was asking how much you weigh," Heavy says. "So," he asks with a grin that can only be imagined inside his helm, "you ready to go in?"
