I'd say no, not unless you had readied an action to try such a thing. The beast has move-by attack, so he could have just run over to where they teleported and trample them anyway, but this seemed more dramatic. :)

Since I plan to run from elephant on the next round, it's time for a haymaker this round.

I'm using a HP to stunt the "Improved Trip" feat, and I'm blasting the elephant with my trip power (water jet), forcing him to resist with Dex.

Attack on elephant man. (1d20+6=23)

Weeeeeeeee!

Power check for trip. (1d20+9=29)

And that's with 9 ranks of "knockback." :D
