  1. you can't... but remember that you have another round, since this was the Readied action. You have another shot.
  2. Luke scratched his head “Yes, of course.†he muttered as low as possible “Taking a different path from the guy who single-handedly ended the fight against the possessed shark skeleton seems like the smart thing to do.†He answered to Mr. Perry “I’m all for seeing this thing to the end, professor. If Morgan thinks I can be of help, I’ll gladly follow his lead – especially since he probably saved the day on his own back there – but could I please know what he found out? I like to know what we’re up against, and I magic, well… it is really not up my alley.†he tried to sound polite but insistent: he was the new kid, but that didn’t mean he was going to run blindly into an unknown enemy if the information was at hand.
  3. Saeid looked at the beggar in disbelief. Jump the ship? He’s crazier than expected! However, he took in conideration his proposal. He had already contradicted him enough: he scolded him that night, he forbid him to wander the ship… he was somehow afraid that the beggar may grow some resentment in his regard. Also, there always was the possibility that he was right, and that entering the town may lead to an early discovery… He looked at al-Hakim “What do you say, professor…†ha proposed “I’ll get off the ship now with him, you get down normally at the dock, we’ll have a rendezvous once you get the jeep. Our smartphones still work here, right?†he checked. “The ticket officer was pretty focused on me and our eccentric friend here, I doubt will give you a hard time: in case, just bribe him some more.†He stopped a moment thinking “and it might be good if I work my magic diversion in private…†“What do you say, sounds like a plan? Or are you uncomfortable with the party splitting up?â€
  4. so, I'm guessing Initiatives are in order? anyway, here's Weaver's, for whenever is needed: 1d20+3 → [2,3] = (5) ...
  5. So... This was an idea I had a little after submitting Weaver... if I had it sooner this would probably be my PL 10 character and Weaver would be PL 7. Maybe I'll get to play her when I hit a reward, I don't know... she may break the House Rules for base attack, she still needs a bit of work. She came with the complimentary archnemesis, a Cybogre. Player Name: Airon[floatr][/floatr] Character Name: Lieutenant Lucilla Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: +4 Atk / -4 Dmg; +2 Def /-2 Tou Unspent Power Points: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: From the Iron Age of Earth Fable, a tiny fairy superhero in a battlesuit that weaponizes her magic Alternate Identity: none Identity: Secret – most people don’t know she exists Birthplace: Rada Drea Occupation: Superhero Affiliations: the Fairies Four Family: Sergeant Serenella, Major Merrysmile, Captain Camillina Description: Age: 191 Apparent Age: late twenties Gender: female Ethnicity: Caucasian features, pale green skin Height: 5 inches POINT FOUR, thank you very much Weight: 0.7 lbs, 1 lb with the suit Eyes: green Hair: dark green Lucilla is a pretty standard fairy: she has green complexion, long pointy ears, big eyes and a large unsettling smile. She is very well-proportioned for human standards, even if she’s barely as large as a human hand. Four dragonfly-like wings sprout form her back. Her battlesuit is composed of a magical polymer with a dark grey military pattern; a few shining green metal plates protect the most vulnerable areas. Lucilla’s wings are encased in the suit’s glider-frame. The suit has no helmet. Power Descriptions: Lucilla’s magic shines of a greenish yellow. The blasts that come out of her weaponizers are more coese, but have the same color. History: Earth-40, o Earth-Fable, is the place where the protagonists of fairytales exists. A dimensional traveler finding himself there wouldn’t have been too distraught: albeit strange, and home to Evil Queens and Dragons, the dimension is ultimately ruled by a law of happy ending. That, at least, was true until the first aforementioned Dimensional Traveler arrived, because unluckily that was Johnny Speed of Anti-Earth. The Tyranny Syndicate raided several times the once pacific dimension, shattering its routine. Daedalus, a being of myth himself, started introducing destructive technology in this old and quaint world, just for the hell of it. Fast forward several years: Earth-Fable is no more, turned into a dystopian battlefield where the heroes and villains face each other not with magic rings and enchanted swords but with weapons of mass destruction – all for the entertainment and gain of Anti-Daedalus who sells them. Lucilla grew up during this changes: she and her three sisters saw their world changing from idyllic to horrible in a few decades, and with their heart crushed adapted from magical counselors into freedom fighters, to defend their dimension. The Fairies Four were about to strike Daedalus local weapon factory, when a factions of Ogres and Trolls with cybernetic implants interrupted. In the fight that followed, Lucilla and Ornabog, an Ogre, got pushed into a dimensional portal who brought them to our Earth. They were quick separated. Lucilla was found by Frederick Weis, a young Electronic Engineering major at FCU, who explained her the dimension she was in. Seeing this happenstance as an occasion to do good in a more optimistic world then her own, Lucilla started super-heroing. Personality & Motivation: Lucilla is a good-natured fairy from Earth-Fable, not a mischievous pixie form Faerie: she is only happy to be in Freedom City. It’s too early to be homesick (even if she misses her sisters), and the optimism and general serenity of this new world are doing wonders on her slightly shell-shocked psyche: the colorful and carefree kind of fight found in Freedom certainly suits her happy fairy nature better than the gritty and violent dystopia that her world descended into. After Fred filled her in on the status of the world with all his heroes and villains, Lucilla decided to join the fight. She feels partially responsible for bringing Ornabog to this world and wants to stop him as soon as possible. Powers & Tactics: Of the many fighters who claim â€float like a butterfly, sting like a beeâ€, she’s one of the very few who can apply it literally. With her fast flight, and being nearly invisible because of her size, Lucilla can catch by surprise almost anybody. While not that powerful, her weapons provide her with a vast array of possibilities for stopping bad guys. Since the magic is in her and not in the suit, even when out of it she can concentrate and use her powers in an aggressive way (Power Stunt). Complications: Two apples tall: This world isn’t made for her size. Archnemesis: Ornabog. She kind of brought him here, she feels responsible for his actions. Homesick: Sooner or later the nostalgia of her world will strike. Mood whiplash: From a carefree fairy, to a gritty cyberpunk fighter, to a super-hero: she changed face so many times, and so radically, that sometimes her mood is unpredictable. 6. sorry, that "just a couple of insects" threw me off balance. With his strenght of +1, he can't beat that 25. 27) Scholar - unharmed, tiger form, 2 HP 11) 2 Thugs (minions) - unharmed, one disarmed 4) Stormbreaker - unharmed, 1 HP Scholar, ahoy!
  7. Fort save vs DC 24 1d20+7 → [16,7] = (23) wuuuf I imagine you did a dramatic gun cock with your vocie before putting the hand on the back of her head and blast. Feel free to post IC. Also, remeber that being knocked out is not eternal, she's waking up in a few minutes.
  8. Steam and Revenant The water level started diminishing quickly in the docks with a loud, most unpleasant gurgling sound. Alice rocked and bobbed, destabilized by the sudden backwash of water. The doppelganger itself seemed unease in the moving water, but still managed to swim towards the submarine. “Get off that wonderful machine, you liar!â€. When she finally got near the true Revenant, they started exchanging blows. The doppelganger missed, and now she was wide open for Revenant's response... Leviathan The stilted movement of the mind-controlled shapeshifter were quite easy to anticipate, and Leviathan's mystic tentacles worked better than ever, thoroughly wrapping themselves around every major joint of his adversary's body, paralyzing her on the spot. Unsuccessfully she tried to roll aside to avoid them, she was entrapped: the only thing left for her to do was pull and try to rip out of her magical chains.
  9. Ewoma's Ref Save 1d20+5 → [2,5] = (7) failed by 18! She's utterly helpless. In her turn, she'll try to break free using her Strength That's a TOU save DC 20 for the Snare tentacle, who has a TOU of +14 thanks to the critical. 9) Ewoma, unharmed, bound and helpless 6) Leviathan, unharmed, 0 HP The Snare only breaks if it fails by 10 or more, which is impossible right now. You have a few rounds (at least 4) of relative tranquillity while she tears down its resistance. *** The Doppleganger will try to hit Revenant again her attack roll 1d20+13 → [3,13] = (16) whaddayouknow, she misses. Of course this triggers the Readied action, if you want. A Readied action is declared in advance so you can only Attack her if you don't wish to lose the action. 23 - Revenant, unharmed, 2 HP 20 - Steam, unharmed, 3 HP 16 - Doppleganger, unharmed go ahead and resolve the Readied action, then you can act again since it's your turn. Remember that there's still water until Steam's turn.
  10. They can't possibly beat that 25, but you cannot Disarm them both since your power doesn't have the Area Extra. To accomplish a double disarm, you could Stunt the Split Attack power feat or Surge for another action. Or you can leave one of them armed. Also, remember to write in past tense, please.
  11. Saeid was a bit dazzled by being so suddenly turned invisible: it was a first for him. he looked in disbelief at where his arms should have been, and saw only the ground. “Oh that’s a nice trick, thanks a l…†he tried to locate Rene, but the elderly painter was nowhere to be seen. Oh, of course. Using the concealment provided by the painter, Saeid changed into his Weaver costume – you never know when the spell is going to wear off. His first priority now was to get civilians out of the area, as fast as possible. The one in most danger seemed to be the driver, already injured and clearly scared out of his mind. Weaver reached out with his powers and grabbed his clothes – very careful, avoiding tightening them around the neck or any wounded area; then pulled the poor driver away from the villain, hoping to be powerful enough to overcome his hold.
  12. Well, I'll go for it. In case it turns out very badly, I'll invoke my "never in the big leagues" Complication. My Move Object is Perception range, so I'll hit automatically. The Grapple check, as per House Rules, should be twice the rank of the Perception Power, so 10x2=20, versus the driver's grapple, but I don't think the driver is actively resisting it. Anyway, here it is 1d20+20 → [17,20] = (37) For tug of war purposes, I have Move Object 10, so effective strength 10x5=50.
  13. Recognition could still be possible with some crafty idea, of course. I'm open to anything. For the drying the docks stuff, yes, I think with an HP it could be possible, but it will take at least 1 full round (so there's still water until your next turn in Initiative...) Does that seems reasonable? EDIT: also, describe how high the docks are above the bottom of the water-filled part.
  14. ok, something that Weaver probably learned off-screen, but I don't know. Didn't we plan on reaching the outpost by jeep? If we jump now, how are we going to rent it? Or did Ahmed just disregard our plan with his proposition?
  15. Isn't his identity public? It says so in the sheet... Anyway, Scuffles: is the injured driver being physically held by the robed baddie, or is he just laying around there? I'll explain: Weaver's plan is to use Move Object on the driver's clothes to grab him and pull him away from the villain, but if he's being grappled it may not be a good idea... I don't want to play tug of war with a human rope.
  16. Steam & Revenant "Lord Steam! Be careful†the Doppelganger strived to stay afloat and kept getting closer to the submarine; at the same time screaming at Lord Steam “She has grabbed onto your ship! Beware!†Leviathan Ewoma’s eyes were a vortex of struggle: at times they seemed polished marbles empty of any emotion, but at times anger, and pain and struggle filled them as the Deep One jerked her head right and let in a battle against an invisible opponent. Her body, however, was still very much engaged in a battle versus Veljlial. Ewoma’ aspect was leaner, without the tentacles that characterized Leviathan, but she still had the same hard scaly skin and clawed fingers. She jumped forward trying to claw off the eyes of her opponent, but her movements were stilted, almost machine-like, and she missed her target by a good ten inches.
  17. Ewoma attack on Leviathan 1d20+9 → [3,9] = (12) that's a miss Ewoma is heavily based on the Alien Infiltrator Oddball, with the Deep One template applied, but she's only about PL 7. 9) Ewoma, unharmed 6) Leviathan, unharmed, 0 HP? *** If needed, here's the Doppleganger Bluff check to fool Lord Steam 1d20+20 → [18,20] = (38) WOAH! 23 - Revenant, unharmed, 2 HP 20 - Steam, unharmed, 4 HP 16 - Doppleganger, unharmed *** Lord Steam and Leviathan are up in theri respective battles.
  18. very well. IC post coming soon. Lord Steam, ahoy!
  19. Choosing a life of crime in Freedom City was not a choice a mundane human made lightly. Yes, there were targets that other cities’ thugs only dreamed about, abundance of cutting edge technology and ancient artifacts and a large amount of billionaires… but it also meant dealing with a concentration of superheroes five times the normal. It was not so shocking then that only the toughest and luckiest of all thugs were still active in a city where crime and crime-fighting was so often on a superhuman level. The two criminals, already a bit startled by the hovering woman, were now staring at a real tiger, 600 pounds of growling hunting machine slowly coming out the fog. The two took a step back, looked at each other, looked back at the tiger, put on their best “screw these freaks†face and opened fire on the beast.
  20. The thugs resist with their own Intimidate 1d20+6 → [18,6] = (24) 1d20+6 → [17,6] = (23) you are a tiny little kitten is what you are. their turn! they shoot the kitty tiger. 1d20+4 → [7,4] = (11) 1d20+4 → [18,4] = (22) YEY for being Defense-shifted. They both miss. Stormbreaker is up. 27) Scholar - unharmed, tiger form, 2 HP 11) 2 Thugs (minions) - unharmed 4) Stormbreaker - unharmed, 1 HP EDITED - corrected by the REF
  21. No, the fight is not close enough to the submarine. I would allow you this though: climb up, then jump down on her to attack - American Wrestling style. Thus you'll be free of water penalties for the attack, but you'll end up in water at the end of your round. Another option is to climb up Alice's nose and Ready an attack action in case the double comes after you (or in case Steam moves that thing forward).
  22. two reasons 1) He should represent a darker counterpart of Weaver. While he is about crafting art and has a general "flowing fabric" theme, the Black Smith is about crafting weapons and has a "rigid metal" theme. They are counterpart also in the way the Weaver is a socially active man that tries to improve the life of his fellow citizens, while the Smith has that "old fashioned" set of values that pushes him to war and conquest, with little regard for his fellow human being. 2) I like making NPCs and I see myself creating and running adventures based around defeating this guy. He has a fortress, minions of his own, and several possible plot hooks. He can have rivalry with super-scientists and with many magic-based heroes. *** As for the crunch part, I don't see why he should have Gadgets: he brings one/two weapons and one set of armor each time he hits a target, so it's hardly Variable. He may have all of them available in his Headquarters, but even then he'd have to be in the storage room and spend time changing; and the weapons and armors would be available to anyone. The Quickness could very well be dropped without losing much, for this character. It was meant to represent true mastery of the way of forging, but nothing ridicoulous like crafting an item with a Full Action! He can't come up with new devices on the spot, unless he retreats to his fortress. There's really notthat much magic in what he does, just a lot of skill.
  23. Revenant has to make a DC 24 TOU save, then it's her turn in the docks confrontation. There's no longer Partial Concealment thanks to Alice's lights. ALso, I don't know if it's clear, but I'm imagining the docks as having a ladder or something to get out of the water...
  24. I really should be asleep right now Saeid drank a sip of water from the bottle beside his bed. It was warm and unpleasant, but it helped waking him up. “We don’t know what it contains. We found it in another “secret place†or whatever you called it, near the sphinx. We both risked our lives when we put our eyes on it. It is protected by some sort of charm, a mystic ward that will try to shatter your mind into gravel if you look at it.†“I don’t know if it would help in our task – but we couldn’t leave it in Cairo – too risky. Now, when you tell me you are determined I believe you, when you tell me you know a way of getting to the weavers of fate I believe you, when you tell me you are invisible to them thanks to those rags you wear I believe you.†he tried to speak in the soft but firm tone he used with greedy suppliers who aimed for a higher price. He hoped he'd be as good asking for trust as he was negotiating for prices. “What I’m asking is: believe me about this. You don’t want to look at it before we research it further.â€
