  1. The lasagne smelled excellent. Quentin looked around, and for once did not stand on formality. It didn't seem to be the place to be honest. Stesha and Derrick gave off that kind of homely, relaxed vibe. He stick a fork in, gave a little blow, and helped himself. It tasted as good as it smelled. He drew up a chair and promptly sat down in it, grabbing a slice of garlic bread as he did. It was a lot better than his rudimentary cooking at his home, or the university canteen, or many of the more pretentious restaurants he dined in, now he came to think about it. "By the way, Stesha, I've been thinking about your little, um, other home. Not that its so, err, little now I think about it. " He swallowed. Damn, it was that good I'm talking with his mouth full. "I think I have worked out the principle of localised quantum entanglement. Meaning, if I can recall the nth dimensional hesienbergian qualities of the location - and I mean the fractal diversion properties as well as geometric location, I can actually connect to there!...err... I mean, travel there! not that I would without invitation, of course. Just thought I would mention, because the trips there came in handy when I was computing the subinfinital diversion entanglement co-efficient..."
  2. GM The young tsar looked on, aghast at the transformation. "Father! Nooooo! what have you done! what have you done!" The raw Freezonium, a horrible blue purple crystal in this dimension, now protruded directly out of the old man's chest, freezing his flesh more by the second. It was starting to creep out, as if the body wanted to expel the unnatural thing from its host. With iron determination, self loathing and a scream of pain, the ancient old man grasped onto it with both hands, which also started searing with freezing pain. "No" he croaked. "Even if it kills me! I will have my revenge!" every orifice glowed with a blue light, his pale flesh crumbling away as he spoke.
  3. OK, lets have a dust up to begin with! Initiative Time! 1d20=18 collectively! Rene Initiative 1d20+2=13 Nightmare Ooze Initiative 1d20-5=7
  4. The taxi Skidded to a halt just at the outskirts of the park. A half dozen citizens were running, screaming, from the centre, babbling something about a creature in the centre. "This is as far as I take you, buddy!" said the driver, already putting the taxi in reverse. Shoving the driver a bunch of bills (more than needed), Rene exited the vehicle and started to make his way to the park. The leaves were brown and the air cool, but he was dressed warmly. Stopping as he pressed onwards, he decided on a better course of action. He wasn't fast on his feet, after all. He closed his eyes - not necessary, but it helped filter out distractions - and used his mind instead. To his minds eye, he saw the surroundings as if painted by Van Gough. The leaves were browner than brown, dots of yellow and orange flecked in with them. The trees were full of flecks. He saw the impressions of what was around him. What one would need to paint the surroundings, rather than a photographic image of it. And his mind eye could roam. Not far, but far enough. As he stood still, his mental vantage point seethed and flew all around him, until he came to the sight he had painted only minuted beforehand. A giant green ooze, a giant bear, and a little girl watching it all unperturbed. The girls parents seemed to be rushing towards the girl, trying to rescue her from the ooze, and in doing so were in danger of being consumed by the creature itself. A young man, wearing headphones that were clearly to loud, was reading a newspaper on a bench, oblivious to the world, and even in more serious danger. Rene didn't know if the bear or the ooze was more hungry, but the situation was looking perilous. But also... odd... something about the whole situation felt unreal... and the whole park seemed to be slipping away from reality by the second...
  5. OOC Thread for thisthread. Rene and Arcturus stumble into the dream dimension courtesy of a little girl and her nightmares.
  6. 21st December Rene was painting away at his studio, and a most peculiar painting it was too. On occasion, he just let his subconscious go free, roaming the flow mystic forces, to see what would happen. Freedom City was where his destiny was, he was sure, and its was a nexus of the lines of fates. His paintings were often odd, and usually meaningless. This time however, he painted as if in a trance, and a wave of sleepiness had hit him. Something was up. He didn't know what, but it looked peculiar and it looked like he would be needed in his capacity as mystic protector. He went down to the ground floor, grabbed his coat, an umbrella, and wallet, and stormed out of the house, ignoring his creaking knees. As soon as he was out of his house, he hailed a cab. "Liberty Park, please, Monsieur" he demanded, more gruffly than normally. "And, siv vou plait, with all speed. " Back at the studio, the sunlight shone gently on the painting of Liberty Park, showing a black bear fighting a horrible giant green formless thing. A thing that could only be conceived in nightmares. Oblivious to the horror of the beast a small girl looked on, licking an ice cream, watching brawl unfold.
  7. The Stellar Buccaneer drew up beside the spinning Supercape, and extended its wooden plank. "Thank goodness" sighed Supercape, not quite believing he had got out of this with his cape intact. He flew towards the ship and alighted at the end of the plank. The doors, unfortunately had not opened as yet. Kraken drew his flintlock and cutlass, and, together with a small squadron of pirates, beckoned Kid Cthullu, Piratehouse and Piratush to follow him to the dock. It was a short walk, punctuated by talk amongst the crew of fabulous plunder and exclamations of "'aaaar, me 'earties" at every juncture. Spinning to face the heroes at the dock, Kraken picked up a microphone. "This 'ere be Captain Kraken, and this be my ship, Captain Cape. Before I lets ye onboard, I be wanting the location of the Plunder on yonder Pluto. That be the price for ye rescue!" Supercape clung on to the plank. "Errr, plunder? oh... yes, Plunder? well, as I am sure... errr... Piratehouse and...errr... Pirateush told you, it is in the equitorial regions, but...err... well... I will need to come on board and show you... err.. whencewithforth, and on a stellar map, and so be it..." Kraken considered the matter for a moment. "Very well, but no false moves, or I'll keelhall ye all! without space suits!" He pressed a button, and the dock doors opened, the plank retracted, and Supercape floated into the Buccaneer. Catching sight of his rescuers, he stammered a "thanks...err... crew....at ease...men...."
  8. "Oui Madame, that you do... that you do..." Over two hundred years. Yes, he had met some most interesting people in the parks at night, particularly in the countries and times were homosexuality had been less than tolerated, and in many cases illegal. Fortunately France had a more progressive history than the rest of the world in that matter. He suspected that Stesha had other things in mind however, and that also was true. Nowadays, it was probably drugs, and muggings. In some ways, that was progress, in some ways, that was sad. Ah, Le cercle des progrès... "And viola, it is most appropriate that madame is holding a flower then. And it is admirable that you create and heal, not just war and destroy. You are the gardener of Freedom City then? in so many ways?"
  9. Would you believe it... 1d20+4=24
  10. If its Cold and Push, I will certainly use Cape to avoid to big a PL spread.
  11. 1d20+4=20 for Slick 1d20+2=18 for Thugs However, only Nick and 'Fly get to act in this surprise round. Dragonfly up first.
  12. Supercape was breathing heavy, but he was glad he kept in shape with his daily cycling. The adrenaline pumping round his system was helping of course. Things probably weren't too serious, but the collider at the basement would be unpredictable if not controlled. It was causing a lot of interference to his acute and superhuman senses. Puffing away, pausing only briefly, he pulled up outside Simulator Suite A. "Here we are", he gasped, opening the door. Inside, the forest programme continued to play, with zero gravity in full force. The stream had started to spray upwards, and leaves blew everywhere. Random glitches appeared in the background at various junctures. "Now, we just have to find the source of the problem..."
  13. Feel free to roll initiative. You have a surprise round here, unless you are doing anything particularly and spectacularly unsurpsiring!
  14. 1d20+2=14 for Supercape, all that cycling paid off.
  15. Slick circled round the block to come at the hoodlums from the opposite angle. She got a few wolf whistles, and a pair of hapless drunks try to accost her en route. They soon found themselves with their heads spinning, after Slick had knocked them together. This was a new tactic for Slick, despite her age. Oh, she had certainly had decades worth of seduction and socialising under her belt, but never in the streets of a run down ghetto, and with two street life thugs. She was normally more upmarket. In fact, she was always more upmarket. Could one get lower market than this? Nevertheless, she started walking towards the thugs with her best saucy walk, and blew them both a kiss. "Hi boys? who knew handsome sexy men like yourselves were around here?" she said, with a wink.
  16. Rushing down the stairs is going to be quite a work out - unless an alternative method of transportation is available. Which would mean a DC 10 Con check to stop getting fatigued (bonus if you have the endurance feat of course!) 1 HP for Supercape, by the way, for all the quantum interference stopping him teleporting. How generous I am to myself! :D
  17. Supercape shook his head. His ears were still ringing, but he could start to make out the alarm bells ringing out from around him. "HEY, I THINK I CAN HEAR AGAIN!" he shouted, his voice having unconsciously adjusted to his previous impairment. "I mean.... I think I can hear again!" he repeated at a normal volume. True, it was a bit muffled and he head still sang with church bells, but he could at least hear what he was saying. He glanced at his PDA, which was hooked to the Lab's main computer. "Oh dear. We better hurry, if we don't get this sorted soon, the large particle collider in the basement, its going to go haywire. No idea what will happen. " He started pelting down the stairs three at a time. "Quick, we haven't got a moment to loose!"
  18. Rene pondered Stesha's words. "Nexus for our dimension, hmmm? Oui, that sounds appropriate. I should like to meet your friend Phantom, La gardienne de la dimension" He continued to paint away. It was coming on very nicely, he thought. Despite his speed, he was producing something of fine quality, even for him. The smile had captured some enigmatic quality, yet still full of all those attributes that Stesha had desired. "And so, Madame, tell me of yourself. What do you do? both as a woman, and as a heroine?"
  19. Supercape nodded at the sight of Gaian Knight's Rocks. "You can indeed, your majesty!" he said, with a bow that ended up being somewhat clumsy due to the drag underwater. On reflection, he decided that a magnificent and huge cape, whilst of course very spiffy and everything, was not very practical underwater, what with the drag and everything. In the twinkling of an eye and a shimmer of sparkling light, it promptly folded itself up into the rest of his costume. Hmph. I'll just be Superbowl or something then he thought, thinking of the transparent bowl surrounding his head.
  20. I am somewhat reticent about stunting to alternate saves without clear reason (especially to a continuous duration transform) - but I suppose reality warping will do. In which case, the Freezonium remains as it is, and consider Rasputin flesh and bone. With some freezonium in his chest. Ouch. If not removed, it will pretty quickly freeze him to death.
  21. Sorry AA, I completely goofed that you had Evasion 2. In my defence, this was at the height of my man-flu when my brain was all over the shop! In which case, the Fort DC would be 23, which means only stunned and bruised I think. Blowing an HP to reroll fort or shake of stun? As for the Power Stunt, he isn't a construct and is immune to Fort Saves. The Crit hit can stand for whatever you want to stunt in its place, of course! Sorry to have goofed on this one! On the positive note, I have shaken off my flu so my brain should be a little less error prone!
  22. "The captain, do you say?" replied Kraken, pondering the matter. His tentacled face fluttered in what was probably a mixture of vexation and thought. "Well, there be only room for one captain on this ship, mind ye. But if this Captain Cape of yours knows where the plunder be, then I guess to Captain Cape we must go. I am sure he will be willing to share, like I said" He thought some more "Captain Cape eh? Named after the Cape of Good Hope on Earth? He must be a mighty fine pirate in that ca..." At that moment, Supercapes voice spluttered over the communication channel of the Buccaneer. "I say, well done folks! Sterling work! I can see the Buccanner from here! I'll send a homing beacon. Errr... I mean, I'll send a homing beacon so you can rescue the man overboard, me swaggering scoundrel mates...err... Keel the jigging and raft the poles and all that!" Kraken looked at the crew suspiciously before ordering the ship towards the beacon. "That yer captain then? sounded like a landlubber to me!"
  23. "Monsieur de Saens" replied Rene, grasping the man's hand firmly in a handshake. "A pleasure to meet you". "Forgive me, Monsieur Cimetiere, I wish our meeting could have been under more fortunate circumstances, but alas, it appears the fates have drawn us together under a rather dark cloud. And I do not refer to the miserable weather" he added, pointing at the starless sky black with cloud and a clingy, unpleasant rain. "It reminds me of London" he sighed. "No matter. I have heard you are an expert on necromancy. Non non, monsieur, do not be alarmed. I do not mean to infer that you practice the dark arts, so to speak, but merely that you are well versed in these matters. And, something tells me that what I have heard is quite correct. " he tapped his nose.
  24. "Ah there you are!" exclaimed Supercape at the sight of Fusion. "What news? Any clearer? Vampires? The Shadow-Death? It all sounds terribly exciting... and, err... dangerous now I come to think of it" He paused. "Ummm, so are we actually dealing with vampires? their bite infects you or something? it looked like the young royal there got possessed, or something. Some kind of communal mind?" "You know, if this gets loose, we could be looking at some kind of zombie apocalypse, you know, like in those films. Very contagious. Nasty business. Bitey Bitey lurchy lurchy thing". He couldn't resist examining his costume again to look for any bite marks he might have missed.
