  1. Next Challenge! Oh dear, the programme has changed to a pulsating stream of gaudy light for everyone! Sense-dependent [Visual] Nauseate Power DC 15 Reflex Roll to avoid, then Fort save to avoid getting Sickened / Nauseated. Dragonfly gets +2 on Reflex save, as she is likely to be looking directly into the electronics and will have more chance to react. 1d20+2=17 for Supercape's Reflex
  2. "I see then, that your reputation is deserved" replied Rene, before cracking into a warm smile in return. He liked this man, honest about his abilities and yet self-depreciating about them too. A man after his own heart. "And its a good sales, pitch, monsieur. As you American's would say, I like it so much, I'll but the company". He reached into his coat pocket, and brought out the flyer for the talk tomorrow. The picture of the statue of Kali was plainly evident. "Tell me then, Nicholas, what do you make of this? I am no expert on the matter, of course, but it strikes me as a death artifact of some sort. I have seen one many centuries ago, in the hands of a necromancer. And the fact that one is here, now, perturbs me. Perturbs me greatly. "
  3. "They always go away when I sleep, silly big bear" replied the girl. Rene put his hand on Arcturus' massive arm for a moment, slightly fearful that the ursine hero would take offence. "Now, now little girl", he said "this bear may be big, but he isn't silly. How do you know you are asleep?" The girl shrugged, and Rene could sense she was starting to become scared. "We go to the sleepy place, and then things can get real scary, just because we think of them..." "And what are you scared of?" asked Rene, getting progressively more concerned. "All sorts of things" said the wide eyed little girls "but I always get real scared of spiders...." And out of the ground, slowly at first but with increasing numbers, started crawling, and then pouring, vast multitude of red eyed spiders, black as the moonless night, with horrible speed and purpose. They varied in size, from the size of a dime to the size of a fist, and all creepd' on eight spindly long legs...
  4. OK, so you are certainly aware of having slipped away from "reality". Sense Motive: the Girl is... odd... she should be scared, but isn't, or rather, is scared, but not of you. It's like she dosen't know what is real and what isn't any more. Diplomacy of 9 - nope! for Rene Sense Motive 1d20+8=22 a little better Diplomacy 1d20+6=7 a little worse!
  5. Repair Time! The repair is Moderate: Electronic Component, taking 10 minutes, DC 15. Jury Rigging wont really work here. Ill GM this that every 2 points above required DC will cut repair time by a minute, to a minimum of 5 minutes. On the downside, being in Zero Gravity without the adaptation feat is a -4 Penalty. Burning an HP will give you the Zero G adaptation feat for this scene (As a reminder), also you are of course welcome to burn an HP for the Craft (Electronics) Roll.
  6. As Supercape floated towards the other side of the Simulator Suite, he noticed a build up of electricity in the system, similar to the arc that had lanced across the room before. He had little time to react, other than to mumble "oh dear", and, almost in a daze, watch as the giant bolt of electricity coursed through the air. He let go of Dragonfly and Etain and reflexively curled up in a ball, for all the good it did him - the arc struck him straight and true and passed on to the other side. A flash of light and sparks of energy highlighted the collision of energy between the arc and Supercapes quantum field. A slighty singed and stung Supercape unfolded himself. "Ouch!" he commented. "I do find pain most disagreeable"
  7. Etain is sickened from Zero G then: -2 on attack rolls and checks. As for Reflex Roll, Lightning Arc is going to Hit Supercape: DC 25 1d20+12=22 Injured! (Yes, Lethal!)
  8. Arcane Knowledge Roll to realise where you are! DC 15: Not in real world, DC 20 in mystic realm, DC 25 in Dream Realm. 1d20+13=19 for Rene.
  9. "Pleased to meet you, Monsieur Arcturus" replied Rene, following the giant to his sketch book. He couldn't help peeking over at the book and seeing the doodles, clearly arcane in nature. He gazed up at the sky. It seemed... odd... somehow. Like it was fading. He looked around, and the very trees and parks seemed similarly distant. Everything seemed to be peculiar, both more and less real at the same time. Only the little girl seemed to be real. She was dressed in a thick red coat, and had her clear green eyes fixed on the two heroes. "Are you from the scary place?" she asked, quite calmly. Oddly enough her parents, just... didn't seem to be around. Rene turned to Arcturus. "My friend, do you get the feeling, as you Americans say, that we ain't in Kansas anymore?"
  10. "Set course for Pluto, ye scurvy dogs" Kraken shouted at his crew, as he led the heroes and his crew back to the bridge, brandishing his cutlass and flintlock as he paced there. The crew may have been scurvy dogs, but they knew their way around the ship, and the ship was, if nothing else, fast. By the time they had made the short walk to the bridge, Pluto was already on the view screen, and they were descending to the surface. "So, captain cape, where be this treasure of yours. No japes now, my patience is wearing thin..." Supercape put his finger at his neck piece, loosening it slightly, and sweating. "Well now, me 'eartie..." he started. What on earth have I got myself into... he thought with a curious panic-induced detachment. "The treasure is... yo ho ho... right outside..." Captain Kraken gave a shifty look "Is it now? is it now?" he said, his tentacles squirming. With a signal, the dock doors opened and the plank extended. "Lets have a look then..." The crew once again walked to the dock doors, leading out to the cold desolate vacuum of pluto...
  11. "Its the kind of question that needed asking" replied Rene, with a smile. "to a bear, anyway" he couldn't resist a chuckle "I don't meet many bear's. There was a talking one in Russia, 1907 I think it was, can't remember who the trainer was. But to be honest, I was never sure who was the performer, and who was the trainer in that partnership. " He took a few steps closer and peered at Marcus more closely, with more than just his eyes. He looked noble enough. But then, he was strong enough to rip a main in twain without effort. That always helped looking noble. "My name is Rene deSaens" he continued "I am afraid I haven't had the pleasure of your name, monsieur". He guessed the bear was male. If he was relying on just normal eyesight it would have been impossible, especially with his eyes, but somehow in his impressionism view of the scene, Marcus looked masculine, in some way. "And no, I had nothing to do with that thing, whatever it was. In fact, I had more to do with its evaporation, thanks to that lightning bolt. "
  12. If you guys are willing to step into the suite of simulation horrors, its another fort save to avoid being nauseated... Also, reflex saves will be upcoming... DC 15 Supercape has environmental adaptation to zero G, but as for reflex save: 1d20+2=10 for Supercape! oof!
  13. Supercape pushed a few buttons on the computer terminal outside the simulator suite. A lot of the screen was corrupted, full of garbage due to the malfunction. "Looks like conduit 23c, other end of the suite has come loose. I'm not an expert on these things, but I can get us there. Madam, I know this wasn't exactly what you were expecting, but welcome to practical science 101. From the looks of things, you have a few handy talents..." my word, don't I know it he thought to himself, remembering her masterful handling of the demon that had been summoned in the sewers of the city "...and your assistance would be appreciated. The simulator suite is... chaotic...right now, and may prove hazardous" As if to prove his point, an arc of purple electricity lanced across the suite. Supercape activated his quantum forcefield, and held on to his companions, stepping into the zero gravity of the suite.
  14. Rene walked towards the remains of the beast, swinging his umbrella beside him. He was not sure what to make of the valiant bear that had torn the creature to pieces. He wasn't about to jump to any conclusions on the matter, positive or negative. The ooze just seemed to wither away, until it simply ceased to exist. The little girl looked at it in a funny way, head cocked to one side, whilst her parents held her tightly. Rene sized up the bear, not getting too close to the beast, who could probably take his head off with one swipe. "Do you talk? or just dance?" he asked.
  15. Well Arc wont be damaged vs the acid. Technically you would need to roll to hit, but actually, looking at the scores, you cant miss when he is stunned! AT this point, wont bother with the rolling, just say it is finished off and you tear it to peices! Post away IC.
  16. Walking forward to the fray, which was somewhat complicated as the two images overlapped, Rene pressed forward the advantage. The thing from beyond was not a denizen of this reality, and probably had little mind, if any. He was merciless in his assault, as it had no business here. Another wisp of magic entered the park, this time a stroke of fire, erupting from the ground and directly striking the beast in its underbelly. There was more sizzling, and the stench intensified. Again, its tendrils withered away, leaving scorch marks where its acid secretions had burnt the ground.
  17. Rene will, just for the sake of being cool, follow up with a bolt of fire erupting from the ground! 1d20+6=14 Easy hit (its defence is a whopping -4, thats MINUS 4) DC 25, its injured twice allready 1d20+8=15 Dying, Stunned, Injured Ooze shaking off another stun this round, and Marcus is up for the Coup de Grace next round!
  18. No problems, Injured condition shaken off. Want to post as Marcus or skip to Rene again?
  19. New Round up: [As Ooze is Stunned] NB: As this is a foul beasty from beyond, I am making all damage lethal, if thats a problem sing out. Reason being, I cant really see we can knock this thing out - it's going to shrivel up and die if defeated. 18 Bystanders - Unharmed 15 Arcturus 1 HP - Injured, Stunned 13 Rene 4 HP - Unharmed 7 Ooze - Injured x2 Marcus is up next. You are welcome to burn an HP to shake off stun (it will go anyway after your turn so may not be worth it), and in any case you can make a rtecovery check DC 10 (modified by Con bonus) to shake of injured thanks to your regen!
  20. Rene witnessed the fight from fifty odd feet away, behind some trees. He had seen some bizarre things in his life, of course. A black bear fighting off a giant ooze from god only knows what nightmare realm had to rank up there, he conceded. Drawing upon his mystic power, he focussed him mind, and bent reality. His power did not rely on mystic incantations, complex rituals, hand gestures, or spells. Rather, he raised his hand, and painted the magic onto the world. In this case, a bolt of lightning flew from the skies, like an artists brushstroke. The thing from beyond was slow, large, and Rene could hardly miss. The bright white bolt streaked from the heavens and struck the beast squarely in its centre. There was a brief flash of light, a sizzling sound, and a nasty acrid smell. The creature did not make a sound, but slumped and writhed as its liquid form bubbled and sizzled, and withered slightly, leaving smoking dead, brown grass behind.
  21. I make your toughness 10 in bear form, bringing that up to 13, but even so that a bad roll! ouch! DC is only 20 however so its not all doom and gloom. Stunned and Injured.
  22. Also, the Gian PPze os Acidic, meaning touching him is a DC 20 Lethal Acidic Save. COuld you post and roll accordingly? Doing the below for Rene's attack when it comes up. Rene is going to paint a nice lightning bolt from the sky! Shifting -2 to attack and +2 to defence. 1d20+6=25 Hits resoundingly DC 25 1d20+10=21 I forgot to add the bruise you inflicted, meaning it drops to DC 20, stunned and bruised. Tagged him between us!
  23. Ooze Toughness 1d20+10=23 Bruised
  24. 18 Bystanders - Unharmed 15 Arcturus 1 HP - Unharmed 13 Rene 4 HP - Unharmed 7 Ooze - Unharmed Take it away! Ooze will be flat footed, and you can reach it in a move action this round. Bystanders will just be flapping around doing nothing outstanding.
  25. "Always painting!" replied Rene. "Well, not always literally painting. But painting with my mind and heart. There is art in everything I do, and everything I feel. It is art that fires me, drives me, gives me passion. As for putting this" he held up his brush "to this" he gestured to his easel "when I have time. In fits and starts, it can consume one for days, and there are days when one can sit and nothing comes" he shrugs. "Have a look around" he gestured. And indeed, there were several paintings, all in various stages of completion, and of various stages of complexity lying around the studio. "However, my other duties come first. I am, after all, a superhero, and fight for liberty and good, wherever it may be found. And I fight to protect this world from all kinds of threats from... other worlds, and other places. These duties are not, I must say, without their interest too. I am just as passionate about life and liberty. "
