  1. Sure, for fluff purposes and to vent your fury! Its a one shot gizmo (like all the presents) but I like the sound of Victory crushing it!
  2. "Brrr!" replied Slick "no rush there, lady. It sounds Siberian as it is!" He paused, weighing up the parameters. He was no doctor, but knew a little biology. "An hour... at minus 10 centigrade. That will be hard. I'm normally tough as nails, but that would kill most men, wouldn't it? slow down their metabolism or something?" He was beginning to get a bit anxious. "Is that safe? I take it for granted it will be unpleasant..."
  3. Ok, they actually cant make either of those saves, so boom! KO (or whatever) and feel free to send them flying into the rigging!
  4. Righty ho chaps! I would like to run a meteor-punching thread! The idea isn't fully formed at present, but it will basically involve a large meteor/asteroid hurtling towards earth and the heroes have to stop it. It won't actually hit, of course... (unless people want a few tiny fragments to cause a few local problems)... we don't want any earth-shattering (literally) changes to the world! although it will be portrayed as a doomsday scenario. Think Deep Impact or Armageddon... the "avert the meteor" bits, not the "disasters and tsunamis" parts. There are plenty other references of course. This will not be a combat thread, but it will be hazardous. It will be in space, for one, dealing with explosives, nuclear fuels, drills, or any other stuff we need. With razor sharp rocks, low gravity, and various other threats like throwing in explosive minerals on the meteor, etc. And worse, we have to keep the civvies that come along as "experts" safe! Also, it will start with a fair bit of expo in discovering the rock, and making plans to stop it. EDIT: As its non combat (but hazardous as above) can accomodate more than "normal" heroes, but would like to cap it around 6. This thread is primarily open to science heroes (Dok A has already expressed an interest and is a logical person to save the planet!) Lab members would be a good choice too. Space-worthy heroes would also be helpful / appropriate. Sign up for interest and suggestions. My only comment so far is that I don't want any "My power can stop the meteor" solutions. It has to be reasonably "gritty" in that a) the threat is real serious and we have to think up a solution outside of the (normal) parameters of our powers, one that will involve an adventure. EDIT: As its non combat I can manage more than "normal" heroes in this, but would like to cap it around 6 or 7. And Supercape is the first!
  5. Quentin tried to persuade himself that he was fashionably late. The truth was, the experiment with the particle smasher at the Lab had been at a particularly interesting stage and he had lost track of time. His morphic clothes had shaved off several minutes of frenzied preparations, as had the prompt teleport to an unseen nearby crevice of the church, but he was still, he conceded, late, and it was not fashionable. Rude would describe it better. He walked in as fast as he could, without appearing rushed. He didn't want to take a seat quite yet, but looked around to take in the guests and the scenery. He imagined that Stesha would have invited several of Freedom Cities finest superheroes. In civilian garb, damned if he could recognise any of them.
  6. Rene shuffled through the crowds. How I detest the fools! he muttered. Then realised he had said it too loudly. With an irritable hmph he carried on, waving his rolled up newspaper ferociously. He did, however, like the Circus. It was just such a shame that other people did too. And the food! Merde! he wept, as he was offered a hotdog by some dressed up dolly bird walking up and down the Aisles. Hotdogs! Popcorn! Bah! He closed his eyes and visualised the sweet breads and pastries one could purchase on the streets of Paris... he could almost smell them... At least the damn fool Americans could make a good cup of coffee, he conceded, forking out for a rich dark coffee he nestled in his hands, and taking the opportunity to let everyone near him, and the vendor, know how cold his bones got now that he was old, and how a warm cup of coffee helped his freezing hands...
  7. The Young Tsar looked up at Cannonade, listening carefully. "Your words have wisdom in them. I am not... unaffected by them. But I find my heart hollow, black, and empty. And the people lay heavy in my heart, like a poison that now pumps through me and kills everything in my life..." he gazed at the shell of his father. "They are, however, words to consider Sir. And consider them I shall. Tell me, what is your name, if I may have the honour?"
  8. Your call there, something annoying but PC! "Christmas Turkey - Heat well!" springs to mind.
  9. "Of course, Sir... I mean, Jube!" replied the Manager, wondering in his open jawed admiration if the hero shouldn't have had a big "J" in spandex on his chest, or if he was "Jube-man" - and, for that matter, wondering what "Jube" meant. Must be Latin for speed he concluded. The medical facility was aided and augmented by the paramedics on site, who also attended to the men that Jube had rescued. They went through the small but usable rooms together, being sprayed by all manner of chemicals that were none to pleasant to touch or nose (especially Jube's enhanced olfactory senses). The men, still weak, and suffering from smoke inhalation, were only too keen to shake Jubes hand, or paw. "Thank you, sir! Godbless you! If it wasn't for you, we would be toast! you are a true hero of Freedom, risking your life like that!"
  10. Just for the sake of it, Felix dancing roll to impress Goss! - Jack of All Trades Feat, +3 CHA bonus. 1d20+3=9 is poor, so I will burn my HP for this thread! 1d20+3=5, or 15 with the 1d10+10 thingy, which is a fairly reasonable "feat of feet"!
  11. "Sophistication is my middle name!" laughed Felix. "Or at least, its one of them. Witty, Charming, Handsome, and Modest, too, I think, if I remember my birth certificate!" He took Estelle by the hands and gave her a competent whirl. He had the strength, agility and vitality of a man half his age, and was no slouch at dancing either - although he used a rather antiquated style, more ballroom than street. "It has been quite a delight having your hear, Madam. If I may say so, you pepper the party with style. And not a little beauty!"
  12. "That;s the Spirit!" Rene exclaimed. He glanced down at Mary. "Yes indeed, that's the spirit!" he said, more thoughtfully. He stroked his forehead. I'm sure I am missing something here... he realised Damn, that creature has done something to me... him, or this half-world we walk in... The boogieman just let out a broad and evil grin, and drifted towards Arcturus "don't try that on me, fool! I was dancing in this realm when you where a pup, and I know all your nightmares.... I know them...." "...and BECOME THEM!" it laughed, as it transformed into a amorphous and poorly defined watery globe, full of depth and darkness, reeking of bottomless pools and rivers that young boys could drown in. The watery depths lunged, or slithered, towards the bear - it was hard to describe in physical terms exactly how it moved...
  13. 1d20+8=18 made. Boogeyman is going to retaliate. It has Shapeshift 8 (40 HP) limited to things the "victim" fears - in this case, water! 5 - Insubstantial 1 - Liquid 30 - Snare 10 (Engulf, Suffocating) 2 - Immunity to Critical Hits (Liquid form) 3 - Protection 3 (Hard to Kill Liquid form) As its shifting into combat again, Initiative time 1d20+4=13 For Rene 1d20+2=17 Im going to GM Fiat this - as its basically the Boogiemans "home dimension" and he has done something rather unpredictable, its surprise round first, so Arc can have an HP as the Watery blob goes for the throat! 1d20+7=10 and misses!
  14. It sounds very interesting! I'm not quite sure exactly what you had in mind, but i'm hooked. I'll throw Rene in, as an illusionist type.
  15. The best laid plans... ...sometimes go according to plan! With lightning speed, combined with brains and agility, the plan could hardly fail. True, the smoke and chemicals went through his lungs, and caused tears to stream down his eyes, the heat was intense and nearly unbearable, but the execution was surefire and safe. In mere moments (at least from the perspective of normal humans), the three injured men were outside, all coughing and spluttering. "Oh thankyou... errr.... Sir...." said the manager, realising he had no idea of who Jube was, or indeed what gender "he" was. "Another new hero of Freedom City? What do we call you? Whizz-cat? Speed-Lion?"
  16. The simulator suite was big, but Supercape didn't have the energy or inclination to use anything other than his feet to walk out. "I can safely say" he said, addressing Etain "that when it comes to your form, you will have my signature, with full commendations!" He dusted off his cape as he spoke. Damn, he ached everywhere. "I can safely say, my dear woman, that you have witnessed the marvels of science. Up to this point, in a less than favourable light. Right now, however, as my body is aching all over and I seem to have electrical burns, I fancy a more positive spin on science. Namely, the medical bay!" He had to give a relieved chuckle at that.
  17. UNfortunately, it does (non lethal) damage!
  18. Supercape watched as Dragonfly continued to weave her magic with the arteries and veins of the Lab. He admired her expertise, although her mind seemed, as ever, fairly potty. Attention deficit disorder? he wondered, distractedly although she seems to concentrate fine. In a rather peculiar way. Probably no name for it... The lights came back to a soft white glow, as the Simulator Suite rebooted itself. Reboot complete. Simulator decontamination aborted intoned the pleasant female computer voice, as the two disorientated service bots flew back to the roof hole. "Nice work" said Supercape softly, wiping sweat from his brow and giving a gently clap of his hands.
  19. Supercape was almost annoyed at the way the rapscallion slickly moved to intercept Dragonfly's trap. But he had it hand it to her. It was pretty Slick. "Schmooze mode" he muttered half to himself, and half to his fellow Lab mates, flashing them a smile. Taking a leaf out of Jessica's book, he went to meet a few scientists and journalists himself, doing his best to avoid the more political slice of the crowd. "Yes, as you can see, we have a large investment in educational facilities, at all levels, from schoolchildren to top level research... No... the particle smasher is quite safe, I can assure you. There have been no problems at all... well, I am afraid that's classified information Sir.... "
  20. Laser Beams! 1d20+10=28 Is a hit. DC 25 Toughness roll please. If you fail, it will etch some silly phrase (your choice) as a burn mark! (or if you want, feel free to fluff that too in your post!) 2 rounds till finding the little rapscallion!
  21. Rene staggered slightly at the Shock of Victory's Jet-powered punch. "Monsieur! Please! I am old man! My bones are old and creaky, and the air, as you no doubt have noticed, is cold and frosty and does my poor joints no favours!" He looked over Victory's Shoulder. "Besides..." he continued, pointing. The top had slip off a medium sized present, and a pulsating red globe levitated from the box, before it appeared to swivel at its nearest target, Victory. "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" it intoned, before firing a laser beam straight at the Cyborg!
  22. Time for Boogieman to use Drain Wisdom Attack on Rene: DC 15 Drain 5 Attack. 1d20+8=11 Yoikes! 4 Wisdom Drained!
  23. The Boogeyman seemed to fade slightly, and its oily black tendrils faded away from the child, and it drifted towards Arcturus. Rene grabbed Mary in a gentle but firm manner, clasping her shoulders and making her look straight at him "Listen, Mary. I know the monster is scary, but you must not let him scare you. We are here now, and he cannot harm you. We are taking you back to your mummy and daddy, and he will never bother you again. All you have to do is wake up!" The Boogeyman gave Rene an evil glare, and screamed back, in an awful voice "She will never wake up! NONE OF YOU WILL WAKE UP!" A horrible laughter filled the air "I WILL BE WAKING UP! AT LAST!" Rene felt his resolve collapse, overcome with the ghastly half - reality they were stuck in. Nothing seemed as real, time and space seemed abstract rather than pertinent. In short, he felt that he was asleep rather than alive.
  24. This is probably going to end up more of a "social battle" if thats ok... And nice intimidate! 1 Psychic Bruise! - I just made that up!
  25. "A private interview sounds delightful!" smiled Natalie. She stopped dancing for a moment, and brought out her card, popping it into a suitable piece of metal on Victory. "You know, you really are a very interesting man, Mr. Victory. I find you... well. I find you very...." She turned away. "Special".
