  1. "Hurt. Tired. Hungry. But I guess you can call me, like, Momentum." Momentum hums out in an amalgam of sarcasm and comical intent, wincing as he shuffles around some more from his combat ineffectual scuffle. "Probably totally gonna, like, get in trouble when I get home..." Another bereaved sigh is emitted from the boy, still feeling the ill effects of the thorough thrashing he'd just received. Even so, his goggle-obscured eyes peer at the hulking metal man sitting on the log. He looked ridiculous, really, but that seemed like kind of a mean thing to say to a guy who just saved his skin. Probably best not to mention his curiosity, he suspected. "So... uh... I guess I should say thanks or something. So, y'know, thanks."
  2. A wave of mixed feelings wash over the squishy red-hooded vigilante, his precious hide saved by a timely - albeit calamitous - crash into Nitro sending him flying beyond eyesight. Slumping to the ground and pulling his knees up, Noah took several deep breaths as he assessed the situation and appraised his own self, disregarding the hand offered not out of spite, but out of the simple fact he just wanted to sit down. A few more seconds, and he might have been a little less alive than in his current state! "... I'm okay, I think..." Momentum finally wheezed out, clutching his battered body with a free arm as he soaked in the situation proper. That was one heck of a hit; a hit, Noah was pretty sure, someone normal couldn't have possibly survived. There's a long pause from the boy as he simply copes with the devastating series of super-fast blows he'd been dealt; pondering on what else to say but coming up flat. "Is he... do you think he, y'know..." he finally begins anew, peering off in the direction Nitro had flown off, clearly uncertain as to the results of the devastating blow. "You kinda hit him pretty hard, guy..." Shuffling a little on the ground, Noah winced with tangible pain from the various inflictions. He was certainly in no shape to investigate the state of the super-fast thief. "... Think you better, like, check on him. See if he's not... y'know..." Noah continued, reclining slightly in the dirt even as he speaks. "I'm cool. Just... need to rest for a sec."
  3. Not a lot Momentum can do unless he burns a Hero Point to shake off that Stunned effect, no matter what. So I guess we're doing that. Can't spend his second one in the same round to recover from Staggered, so he'll just have to suck it up. Running away would be kinda moot, as Nitro could keep pace with him and still wail on him if he really wanted to... so it's down to a do-or-die slugfest, I suppose. Round Breakdown: Hero Point: Spending one of Momentum's two Hero Points to recover from being Stunned. he can still only take a single Move or Standard Action though. Extra Effort: Surging for an extra Standard Action, since I suspect it won't matter how much Defense Momentum'll have after this next round unless he can cold-cock Nitro Standard Action: All-Out (+2 Attack/-2 Defense) Power Attack (+2 Damage/-2 Attack) Strike 7 #1 @ Nitro = 17 Standard Action: All-Out (+2 Attack/-2 Defense) Power Attack (+2 Damage/-2 Attack) Strike 7 #2 @ Nitro = 12 Hero Point: Burning Momentum's last Hero Point to attempt a re-roll, which makes it a 15. EDIT: Oh. Well, nevermind then >.>
  4. Toughness +6 vs. Impossible DC32 = 15; Momentum's Unconscious.
  5. Since it looks like everyone else has gone, I suspect that puts Momentum at the top of the initiative again. He'll pursue the aforementioned previous course of action that I so newbishly posted out of order previously, I suppose :P
  6. Even from the safety of a few floors below, Momentum could still make out the cries from on high through the shattered remnants of what were once windows. Still reeling from the concussive blow down below, Momentum's mind raced as the situation upstairs supposedly took another turn for the worst. Was it really so bad up there in the few seconds he'd left the scene that the most viable means to stop the raging fire-man was to bring the whole building down on top of him?! Talk about some dire straits! After catching his breath, Momentum zips back upstairs and into the fray, unsure what good he could really be at this point. In a flash, the young boy is once more poised for battle, taking his position opposite the helmeted hero who'd just been slugged by the massive incendiary gentleman as he came to a stop. "Like, whatever you guys are gonna do, make up your minds and do it quick!" Momentum pleaded, popping off a blast of kinetic energy to goose the elemental and give the more experienced man in melee a reprieve... and a suitable distraction!
  7. Even with his ill-understood kinetic barrier and fists upraised defensively, Speedy McSpeederston still managed to slug the kid in the red hoodie with a solid fist to the chest. Momentum reeled, a hand clutching the no-doubt bruised locale with a wince of pain. "You jerk!" he wheezed out, now thoroughly enraged by Nitro's suddenly inspired bout of fisticuffs. Balling up another fist, Noah let loose another blast of rippling energy colorized by his hoodie's sleeves, a burst of red kinetic force accelerating towards Nitro with painful intent.
  8. Round Breakdown: Standard Action: All-Out (+2 Attack/-2 Defense) Kinetic Control Blast 7 @ Nitro = 20
  9. Toughness Save vs. DC25 = 22 Momentum's now Bruised (1).
  10. "That's what... she said?" the young teen hero replied again, this time more dry than in a vain attempt at goading. This was getting ridiculous! Momentum didn't even know where he was anymore! Drenched in sweat, thoroughly annoyed, and progressively growing more and more impatient as the situation wound on for what felt like forever, his brow creased below his goggles as he kept stride with the quick-witted and quick-footed thief. "But seriously, guy. Just give it up or whatever!" Noah pleaded, already readying another blast of raw kinetic energy. "You're gonna make me late for dinner!"
  11. Round Breakdown: Move Action: Using Momentum's Speed 10 (10,000 MPH/100,000’ per Round) to pursue Nitro. Standard Action: All-Out (+2 Attack/-2 Defense) Kinetic Control Blast 7 @ Nitro - Total 24
  12. "I think so." the boy chimes again, his voice cracking with a distinct lack of confidence as he struggles to recall the finer details of the encounter. "Fa-somethin'-etti, anyway. I kinda didn't, y'know, catch it real clearly once he started shooting at me or whatever." Launching himself off of the street again, Noah springs through the air like some sort of displaced firecracker, glad to have shifted the conversation from the more depressing topic to something more exciting; at least for him. "But yeah, it was pretty exciting, I guess. Y'know, other than the part where I got my socks rocked... and stuff..." Momentum coughs out under his breath sheepishly. "I... uh, I guess that part could have gone way better."
  13. Round Breakdown: Move Action: Using Momentum's Speed 10 (10,000 MPH/100,000’ per Round) to pursue Nitro. Move Action: Bluff +6/+11 to Fast Bluff Trick that Nitro guy into actually fighting Momentum; which I'm sure I'll regret if successful.
  14. Growing ever impatient as the duo dueled across the borders of here-and-there at ridiculous speeds, Momentum conceded that the fellow had a point. At such velocities, it was unlikely he'd hit anything if ever that he actually took aim at. If he could just get this guy to turn around and face him mano-a-mano, maybe he could beat some sense into him the old fashioned way... "All day, huh? That's not what she said!" the behooded boy quipped back, childish as ever in his taunts about whoever the heck 'she' was as he continued racing along after the perpetrator. All it took was a good goading, Noah pondered, and he'd be on level footing to bring this speedy freak down!
  15. Round Breakdown: Move Action: Using Momentum's Speed 10 (10,000 MPH/100,000’ per Round) to pursue Nitro. Standard Action: All-Out (+2 Attack/-2 Defense) Kinetic Control Blast 7 @ Nitro - Whiff. Again *sigh*
  16. Wincing at the equally terrible taunt, Momentum can't help but emulate a tinge of pain as the young super-speed mentally hurts with his horrible banter. It was just so bad. So very, very bad. "Dude, that's... that's just sad. Has to be the worst taunt I've heard since I got here!" Momentum chided back, still keeping pace despite beads of sweat forming on his brow. Cocking another fist back, Ashley lets loose with another blast of rippling red kinetic energy as he bolts along, weaving through obstacles in stride with his just-as-quick counterpart.
  17. This was getting heavy, and not in that awesome rock-and-roll musical sort of way. To say that Noah was getting a little depressed with all the talk of crime-and-punishment in the Southside of Freedom City would be putting it lightly; his typically up-beat and zippy disposition faltering slightly even as he sprung to-and-fro to keep pace with the others. Wander might have been pretty blunt and to the point, but this Gabriel guy... wow. Way to make an already bleak sounding place full of criminals sound down-right dystopian! "So... uh... near the Boardwalk, huh?" Momentum hums out, eager to change the subject to one slightly less sorrowful and morose. "Y'know, me and these other guys were here a while ago. Big fire and junk. Went in to save some, like, guys having a meeting or whatever, and bam! They had machine guns and were shooting at us!" the young hooded hero chimed, smacking the back of his hand into the others palm for dramatic effect. "Well, I mean, they were shooting at people. Mostly me. Turns out they were, like, some of these mobster-guys you seem to know so much about. Faretti or Fanetti or Fettucini or something." He pauses awkwardly, trailing off in thought for the moment. "But the secretary was, like, grateful and stuff! So that was... uh... something... I guess..."
  18. Round Breakdown: Move Action: Using Momentum's Speed 10 (10,000 MPH/100,000’ per Round) to pursue Nitro. Standard Action: All-Out (+2 Attack/-2 Defense) Kinetic Control Blast 7 @ Nitro - Which whiffs, obviously.
  19. Zipping right along behind the pair of speedsters, Momentum's face was affixed with an amalgam of emotions. He was angry, he was frustrated, he was hungry; but mostly, he was angry and frustrated! As if things weren't bad enough, the pair of ne'er-do-wells thought it prudent to split-up! Typical, really. It's not like Noah was in a hurry to get home before he was grounded or anything. "Whatever you say, robot-guy!" the hoodie-clad teen hero barked out from below whilst he and the mechanical man were still kept relatively in-pace. He was surprisingly unflinching about the existence of a giant, hulking metal man; but perhaps that's par for the course given all he's seen in the last three weeks in Freedom City. Diverting his current course to compensate for the splitting of the two thugs and vagabonds, Momentum poured on the steam as he continued on in hot pursuit. It wasn't like he was going to let that short joke stand! "Dude, I said stop!" he cried again as he closed the gap with the ever-persistent speedster. It was quite obvious this rather dapper-clad fellow wasn't going to have any of it though. If that's how it was going to be, that's how it had to be! As Momentum grew ever closer, he balled up a fist and hurled a blast of force at the speedy Nitro, his aim faltering due to the high-speed pursuit.
  20. Before Momentum has a chance to interject a swift one-liner to rebuff the twins proper, they're already off, their insults causing the boy's lower lip to curl in frustration as they zipped into the distance. They were nuts, obviously, and blinded by their own greed and superiority complexes. The duo might not be a hazard, but they were at least a menace in their current states. If nothing else, they'd certainly earned Noah's ire by calling him short! Turning and acknowledging the older robot-man - but cringing at his terrible excuse for a sharp remark - Momentum follows suit, flooring it as fast as his kinetically-enhanced movements can take him as he streaks off like a bright red rocket towards the pair of crooks eager to make their escape. "I'll show them fast! Jerks!"
  21. Blinking through his goggles as he tries to keep pace with the first pair of crooks, Momentum's eyes drift to another, much more awkward sight. There, with all sorts of weird gadgets and gizmo-deedly-dos, was some sort of bizarre robot-man, looking quite out of place even in comparison to the trio of young men in odd-ball costumes. Who was he? Was he with the crooks? It was hard to tell. For all he knew, this could just be some sort of really, really weird coincidence. On the other hand, it could be just as likely this was their "back-up plan" in-case something - or someone - were to interfere with the trio's escape plans. "Hey!" Momentum cried, striving to keep pace with the zippy crew ahead of him, a streak of super-fast red as he went. "You can't just, like, go around taking stuff! Are you even listening?! Stop!"
  22. The sudden audio bombardment of alarms resonating throughout the mall surprised Noah, nearly jumping out of his skin at the ear-piercing electronic shrieks. Hands cupped over his ears as patrons whirl and look to and fro to locate the cause of the disturbance, Noah follows suit, peering about frantically, only to be greeted by a pair of bright streaks whirring by at tremendous, superhuman speeds! "Well that was... totally unexpected." As the duo come to a stop and exchanged their banter - and inexplicably flaunt their future plans about robbing - it soon became obvious as to who they were: nothing but super-fast thieves! Noah's face curled into a frown, and he knew it would be him who had to do something; after all, that's what a superhero is supposed to do! Ears still ringing, the young teen hero peered around, utilizing the distracted crowd to slink off some place more private; now grateful that he'd brought that 'something extra' with him: his costume. In a flash, Noah was in disguise, begoggled and sporting his typically tacky red hoodie, already a blur as he charged off towards the south side of Millennium Mall to intercept the would-be crooks. "And I thought today was gonna be totally boring!"
  23. Initiative = 15 Round Breakdown: Move Action: Move Action to find some cover from prying eyes, preferably some place private like a public bathroom. Extra Effort: Power Stunting "Quickness 20 [Flaws] to change into Momentum's costume as a Free Action. Also spending Momentum's lone Hero Point preemptively to counter-act the Fatigue he'd receive for Extra Effort. Move Action: Using Momentum's Speed 10 (10,000 MPH/100,000’ per Round) to pursue the pair of speedy-thieves heading towards the south side of the Millennium Mall.
  24. Fidgeting impatiently as he wailed frantically at a pinball machine, Noah had suffered a rather dull Saturday day within the confines of Millennium Mall. He'd been here since ten, intent on meeting someone who was supposed to have shown up hours ago, much to Noah's chagrin that they apparently didn't even have the nerve to call to inform him they weren't coming. He was a little grumpy, to put it mildly, mashing the side buttons inside the arcade with equal parts fervor and furor. He'd even dressed to the nines - for a teenager, anyway - sporting his favorite pair of khakis and orange-and-white striped shirt, backpack full of school materials - and a little 'something extra' just in-case - for the impromptu date he was promised. As the final silver ball rocketed its way beyond the flippers, Noah let out a groan, giving a dissatisfied glare at the large, flashing "You Lose!" message posted on the electronic scoreboard, his own score too low to even warrant being placed on the top twenty list. "This sucks! You suck, pinball machine!" Ashley mentally chided, fishing around in his pockets for another quarter to no avail. With his only source of interested entertainment mocking him, Noah pulled out his cell phone and checked the time; it was getting late, and his mother was probably about ready with dinner. Another groan makes its rounds through the boy's throat, already sick to death of his mom's 'chickenless-spicy-chicken-salad.' "I've still got a little time..." he thought, stuffing the phone back in its respective pocket. Shuffling out of the arcade and pushing his way gingerly through the crowd of people still mashing away, Noah began sauntering towards the center of Millennium Mall, eager to procure something other than another dose of greens-and-vegetables before he returned home. Perhaps one of those nice, overly-fried meat-on-a-stick things slathered in teriyaki sauce...
  25. Almost reflexively, Noah opens his mouth to defend his point of view with reckless abandon against Wander's stark, almost frigid disposition towards young criminals. Even as he bounded again to keep his pace, his mouth hung agape, mind afire with how to rebut the callous claims Wander made. "I... but... you..." he stammered, unable to conjure a suitable argument against the woman's sentiments despite his own - perhaps somewhat optimistically naive - opinions. It was as if his brain had leapt from its cranial confines and splattered itself all over a brick wall, ceasing its cognitive abilities forevermore. "You don't really think that... do you?" Momentum finally asked, his voice sheepish and cowed in the wake of Wander's own statements. "I mean, not even a little, y'know, pity or whatever? Maybe they just got a bad hand at life... or something..."
