  1. Mind busily scouted through the building with her powers. She searched for any sign of intelligence that was not hers and her friend's. It was the second and third floor! They had turned this whole building into a front! She quickly teleported the group up. When they got to the second floor, they saw a massive area full of scientific gadgets and chemicals. This was no ordinary operation! The people who were there were shocked that they had been uncovered. They hadn't prepared for such an invasion. Several of them scrambled others looked dumbfounded. There was no way they could deal with heroes. Rock cracked his knuckles and neck, "[bg=#FF0000]Time to take out the bad guys.[/bg]" The group agreed in unison. Zap flew up and began to blast all the equipment into smoldering scientific junk. Mind froze the operators with fear. Rock rushed the ones that were frozen, pummeling them with hard blows. Grabbing one by the neck, the obviously outmatched man tearfully begged for mercy, Please, I... I have a family." Rock scowled as he tightened his grip, "[bg=#FF0000]I'm sure the people you sell this stuff to have families too. I'm damn positive they aren't families anymore afterwards.[/bg]" A sickening crunch later the fearful man met his fate. With a screech, Change morphed into a large bird of prey with large talons. His job was to get the ones who were lucky enough to break free of Mind's tampering. He sliced and a few of them down. Wit took this all in. These people didn't look like the types that could take much from his blade, much less Rock's assault and Change's... whatever the heck that was. Though he had to stop these people. It was his super-civic duty. That was his justification. He took down a few of the stragglers that Change missed. that not as harshly as his partners. glancing blows and just enough panache to make it feel like it hurt enough to fall down.
  2. Wesley usually scouted the area around this time. Usually. He had to balance his super-civic duty with life in general. He had no problem with either. It was just that sometimes sometimes one outweighed the other. This is one of the times he was on the hero side of life. He really appreciated this part. He could make the world a better place. Whether it be stopping a robbery or saving reality from a tyrant. He'd done both an then some. And one would think such power would go to someone's head. Not here though. The feeling of doing helping out was the only thing that mattered. He kept it close to home tonight Riverside is where he lived. Sure he could be anywhere right now, but sometimes you gotta sweep your own doorstep. And then he saw it, a row of office buildings open suspiciously late. He had to check this out.
  3. DC 30 Toughness (1d20+15=17) failed by 10+, bruised, stunned, staggered.
  4. I too have a variable question! OK, to my understanding, this makes 7/rank and 8/rank superfluous to 6/rank*. 7/rank and 8/rank also goes against the spirit of the quoted section. 4/rank: Pick a trait (abilities, saves, skills, combat, feats, powers) you can have anything that qualifies as that trait one at a time. (you can pick abilities and pick either Dex or Con [but not at the same time]. you cannot pick anything other than abilities of you pick abilities.) 5/rank: Same as 4, but you are not limited to picking one trait, you are still limited to one trait at a time. (you can pick abilities and pick either Dex or Con [but not at the same time], then switch to combat to pick attack or defense [ditto].) 6/rank: you can pick multiple traits and have multiple things out of those traits * I MAY be reading this wrong. I can also see it being read as "like 5, but with the the trait you pick, you can have different traits in it (if you pick abilities you can have Con and Dex, then you can switch to combat to pick attack and defense) 7/rank: You can pick any power and have multiple powers, but no descriptors attached 8/rank: Same as 6 (the first interpretation), but no descriptors attached See, 7/rank is 6/rank limited to powers, but with no limits. 8/rank is fully 6/rank, but no limits. This no limits thing is contradictory to the rules quoted. You HAVE TO have a descriptor for your variable. Am I wrong anywhere here?
  5. Yeah, enough of that. Let's move on Omega, your turn. 24 hours and all that rot.
  6. Muse watched in horror as the being merged into Breschau. It was like a bad nightmare. Like a horror movie left on. But no, it was real. As it spoke through him she began to feel something. A light wooziness. She was surrounded in a light golden corona and her eyes shined like silver fleshlights. Something was in her heart also, though it was not an invading force, but helpful. Her hand instinctively reached out to touch Breschau's heart. He felt a soft and warm feeling in the pit of his stomach that eventually spread through his whole body. The being inside of him felt ... weird. It was not painful, like all other types of exorcisms, but it definitely felt like an exorcism. It was confused. Though while it sought to quantify this feeling, it did not notice it was being pulled out of Breschau. Muse stopped glowing and slumped a bit, the foreign thing in her heart was gone. She was a bit fatigued after the event. But the being was out. Unfortunately it was standing in front of her again.
  7. Knight and Razorwing stop things from getting ugly... OR DO THEY?
  8. It was late possibly midnight. The five people patrolling Riverside tonight used to be 'normal'. Well as normal as you could be when you dress in black leather and go hunt criminals. Things used to be tougher for them. They didn't have powers . But on Halloween night that all changed. The five were approached by a man that seemed to know them personally. He said that he was going to give them a gift to help fight the zombies that were plaguing the streets that night. All they had to do was accept it. They took the gift. After the zombies stopped, the man was never saw again, yet they kept their gift. They had gone from regular people to... superheroes. They were happy about their situation. Though they wondered if the man would ever come back. That was almost a week ago. They had relocated themselves from The Fens up to Riverside. They justified it to themselves that real heroes would need better accommodations to get the scum off the streets. They hadn't taken code names yet, but then again they were the types that didn't need them. Austin was the leader. His gift gave him massive strength and a tough body. His working code name was Rock. David was a dutiful follower. His gift gave him the power to change into anything. His working code name was Change. Walter was a fun guy to be around. He was also the one that would listen to people's problems. His gift gave him improbable blade skill. His working code name was Wit. Amy was there to help too, though less to lend an ear and more to make sure no one got hurt. Her gift gave her the ability to control electricity. Her working code name was Zap. Finally there was Thuy. She was the planner always making sure that everything went according. Her gift gave her... enlightenment of a sort. Her mental capacity soared to the point where she could use her brain to do almost anything. Her working code name was Mind. Tonight would be a fateful showing for the quintet. It all started when they found their way into a bust that Mind had planned. There was a drug ring around these parts that no one knew about, but Mind scanned the area with her... mind. She quickly drew up some plans and rallied the others. This would be their first real outing. They found their way into the building and started sweeping up.
  9. Wesley wondered what could cause such anguish. He wanted to help her, but it seemed that Robin didn't want it at the time. Maybe Wesley had been too open with his life. He told her everything. Could he have been too pushy? Did she think she wanted her to spill everything then and there? Again, Wesley contemplated where he would be today if he had just shut up a month ago. He looked to Robin standing there. She was sad. She obviously didn't want him to approach her. He wanted to comfort her, but Wesley knew when she needed her personal space. Heck, it was part of the reason for his little vacation. "Robin," he said trying to comfort her, "You know I'm here for you. Any time you want to talk I'll be there for you. Anytime you need someone to lean on, I'll be there for you. Anything at all, I'll be there for you." He paused to let the words linger there for a moment, "But I know where my limits are. I will not force you to say or do anything you do not want to say or do. I'm sorry if I made you feel that you had to spill everything. I'm sorry if I did anything that made you feel pressured at all. Most importantly, I'm sorry if I hurt you." His heart aside, hers mattered more to him than his.
  10. you still have to attack since you failed. you also need to roll that save Fox asked for.
  11. OK, Faust it is your turn. Here's the thing: I'm not going to take posts away from you. That would be rude. So, you can feel everything (see, hear, smell, touch, taste, et cetera ). Your mind is your own, but your body is not. You're just being controlled. You can only follow orders. Now down to the crunchy bits. Currently the DC to not do anything the being wants you to do is DC70 (15*2*2) though you do get a +1 to +4 bonus every time it tries to make you do something. This is all cumulative. Right now it is trying to use your body to harm Gabriel in 'delightfully unspeakable ways'. Since violence is what you do, that's really not against your nature, but you do know this is the good guy you're about to bring the pain to. so i will give you a +2. If you have any questions, ask me.
  12. Muse: Initiative (1d20+10=23) Who could this be?: Initiative (1d20+9=15) And this?: Initiative (1d20+2=4) 1) Muse - unharmed - 5HP 2) Person A - unharmed 3) Sparksmith - unharmed - 1HP 4) Person B - unharmed
  13. Elizabeth nodded emphatically about the talent statement. She herself was good at most performing arts, but she knew others that could blow her out of the water. When Kurt leaned forward and whispered, she smiled. Kurt was very forward. And how could she turn down a fellow artist? When he pointed out the band was slipping, she turned her attention to the band. It did seem slower than usual. Weird. She decided she would go with the handsome drummer for dinner. "Yeah," she smiled thankfully, "sure. I could go for a late snack. Just let me get my quilt real quick." She got up and carefully began to fold her quilt. Then something odd happened. Something akin to silence filled their ears, but they knew the silence was there. It was like there was an emptiness. An 'anti-noise'.
  14. I forgot Jermaine! OK, he's unconscious. Bleeding from the head, but still breathing. As of now the order goes 1) 'Breschau' - unharmed - 5 HP (currently under control) 2) Muse - unharmed - 3 HP 3) Sparksmith - unharmed - 3 HP 4) The Being - 4 bruises (currently occupying Breschau) 5) Gabriel - unharmed - 4 HP 6) Gaian Knight - unharmed - 3 HP
  15. I'm going to give you 1 HP, not because i'm fiating, but because your awesomeness has very little chance of working... DC 21 Will Save (1d20+18=27)
  16. The being shrieked the most beautiful and horrifying sound the group had ever heard as Gabriel's lance of sound it it. Covering it's ears did not help. In the confusion of it all, it was blasted again (this time by the earth itself) and wrestled to the ground. Breschau did not know that touching the being was certain danger, but he managed to fight it off... for now. While it was down on the ground it felt the sizzle of energy... pure energy. It's brain lurched at the lovely pain. Something it must share. Looking to Breschau again, it smiled temptingly. Breschau felt his mind being tugged and massaged at the same time. Oh it felt nice, too nice, like he could fall asleep at any moment. And for all he knew, he did. Though what the others saw was pure horror. Breschau did doze off for a split second, but they noticed the being disappear also. When 'Breshau' regained his senses he felt much less like himself and more like a powerful demon. He felt like he could take on the world and these fools were standing in his way. He picked himself up and moved over to Gabriel and grinned maliciously, "[bg=#000000]Preach to me, preacher man. Prepare your eulogy, as you are about to meet your God.[/bg]"
  17. Elizabeth admired the little drum. It was really finely crafted. And he was a drummer himself! She always found musicians an interesting lot. You never knew what stories they had. And he was a Jazz appreciator, which definitely made it much cooler. She lightly tapped the drum to the beat of the music while listening to Kurt speak. Luckily she had mind enough to appreciate both. "You're a drummer, eh," she smiled interestedly, "Are you with a band or is it just a hobby." Slowly the music was softening and there was a very chill vibe in the air. No one was really standing, they were sitting and talking amongst themselves or just listening to the music. It was great music though. Quite relaxing, really.
  18. Wesley had heard these questions before. It never surprised him though. People hear of phenomenal cosmic power and never think of itty bitty living space. He wasn't trying to shut down the cosmetics industry or the plastic surgeons, just have a little fun and to help people that needed it. He smiled and sat in the chair next to her, resting his left leg on the top of his right and leaning back. "You know there's an adage that goes, 'With great power comes great responsibility'. I like to adhere to that. Sure I could be an evil guy and do evil things, but what would that bring in the end? More retribution than reward. No, doing good is it's own reward. To see happy people is enough for me. Heck, I do my part and get out there and do my super-civic duty when I can and/or must." He laughed about the comment on weird people, "You have no idea."
  19. DC 31 Toughness (1d20+13=22) 4 bruises and a stun Edit: i messed up, that was supposed 12 not 13. Here's your HP, OP. DC 31 Toughness... Reroll! (1d20+12=29) 4 bruises. OK Folks, buckle down it's going to be a bumpyride
  20. Wesley remembered Lynn. It was great that she still though about him. Even though they didn't talk now. Last he heard she got a boyfriend with serious firepower. That would be awkward of him an two accounts if he just carried on like nothing happened. When Robin stepped away he let her go. He knew something was going to happen the way she did so. His arms dropped to his side and he listened to her words again. His elation was gone after she spoke. This joyous moment was not what he thought it was. He didn't understand why. He'd hoped she would explain. He was curious as to why his love was unrequited. He would not run is time. He swallowed. "I would," his voice cracked with emotion. He swallowed it and spoke as straight as he could, "I would love for you to say those things, but I know there are certain places and times for everything." Composure was hard to keep, but keep it he must. He stood ready for her, "I... am ready for this."
  21. Wesley smiled as the girl looked around, making sure she didn't knock anything out of place. Thankfully, she was graceful. He understood her skepticism. When she asked her question, he was not surprised. How does one justify what he just did? Most think it's a trick until they tried it. "It's a talent of mine," he spoke up, "I'm not really sure there's a 'real' word for it. Biokinesis? Vitakinesis? Those are unofficial terms for it. I basically have the ability to shape matters of the body and health. The alterations and modifications are as permanent as the wearer wants. So yeah."
  22. "Nice to meet you, Caroline," Wesley greeted her cordially. "Likewise," Susan spoke up. "Alright," he said stepping behind Susan and showing her off, "Take a mental picture of Susan now." Susan was a little bit taller than Caroline with her flats on, maybe two or three inches. She was definitely proportionate to her height, affecting a pear shaped build. Her skin was a natural shade of tan. Her hair was a rich copper, it was short too, barely reaching her shoulders. Her eyes were a sparkling, almost unnatural blue. She was wearing blue jeans and red sleeveless tshirt that showed off some art that had been done up and down her arms. "Alright," Wesley said standing next to Caroline, "Now here's the fun part. You'll notice I'll do this little glow thing. I have no idea what color it is usually," he said as he beg to put on a dark purple aura, "Classy, eh? Now I take Susan's hand and she does the same little glow thing." Like clockwork, Susan gave him her hand and she too had a dark purple aura about her. "Now we take a design out of the book. Keep your eyes open, Susan, you too, Caroline," he looked at the book, "Hm, that one look well used," suddenly, Susan's eyeballs were bright yellow and had a black split in the middle. "That's not all we can do. If you'd like a different hair color," Susan's hair turned a light shade of ginger. "Maybe you want some freckles," Susan's face was then full of them, "Or maybe you don't want them at all," the freckles disappeared, "It goes beyond that. Some people want to be a bit taller or shorter, have a bit more muscle or be a bit skinnier," Susan morphed a foot up and afoot bulked up and slimmed down as Wesley talked, but returned to her original shape. "But wait there's more! I'm sure you've said to yourself, 'what if i could see better or jump higher and run faster?' We have that too. Though those are case by case basis. And if you don't like them we can put it all back like it was before," Susan returned to the woman she was before the modifications and alterations and Wesley let go of her hand. They both lost their auras. She smiled and took a bow, "Fun, huh?" Susan looked to Wesley to see if he was finished. He nodded and she went back to where she was before. Wesley looked to Caroline with a friendly smile, "Oh and we do piercings and tattoos too." He chuckled, "So, see or hear anything you like?"
  23. Using HP to stunt Dazzle 12 (auditory/visual; Extras: Range/Perception) DC22 Fort Save vs Auditory/Visual Dazzle (1d20+14=28) Figures :argh:
  24. The whole 'rush of everything' was interesting to Muse. Pain and pleasure at the same time was a bit overwhelming, but at the same time it was enlightening. She focused on the non-hurtful sensations and it reminded her of past projects. The one what really stuck out in her mind was her trip to Hawaii a few years back. That sand castle was rough. That sun was hot. But in the end there was a feeling of satisfaction, that and she had tanned very nicely. Gabriel's effects were flashy, the sonic vibration preacher bit was very showy. She wondered what he did in his off time. More reinforcements came. Gaian Knight tore into the being with rocks and Breshau threw it to the ground. What was she to do? She focused inwards looking into her infinite possibilities of her creativeness and what came out was most... interesting. Her body began to glow with silver sigils that looked like ancient Greek writing. The being began to shake beneath Breschau. She focused all of her energy into robbing the being of it's sight and hearing. It would never again be able to see or hear the beauty of this world's creations.
