  1. We don't delete threads here, we only archive them after a while, if that.
  2. We don't actually do that here, but it'll go into the archives eventually.
  3. Okay, Grim took another hit, same DC as before. However, Nightrival just got critted, (which is really the only way he can be hit, period) for a DC 25 toughness save. Remember your HPs! They will save your life! :)
  4. Grimalkin's casual walk quickly turned into a mad dash as the space she had just occupied became filled with energy bolts, with another one clipping her. Apparently, Grimalkin's being invisible was no impediment to the turret's sensing her, and it seemed to matter none at all that the two bolts that missed were carving up the surrounding scenery fairly well. Nightrival had more luck, destroying yet another turret with a massive footstomp that nearly caved the entire device into the wall itself. But unfortunately, the Warden appeared to be serious about his boasts of this room being the two heroes grave, as two more guns popped out of the nearby wall and opened fire. It was probably from the surprise that Nightrival's reflexes weren't as sharp as usual, and he was nailed by one of them.
  5. That was quick. Do you have at-home IT service or something? :)
  6. "Hey, don't be like that, Lynn," Ren said, trying to reassure the girl. "Listen, I didn't mean to make light of your weakness, but look at it from my point of view: all you said is it made you feel a little weak and that you'd get a weird taste in the back of your throat. I didn't - couldn't - know that there was more than that." He was slowly starting to get a handle on Lynn's mood swings. She'd whip herself up into a frenzy and then calm down and feel sheepish afterwards. All he was doing now was keeping her from hitting that frenzied state. Ren finished putting his shoes on and walked over to stand next to her, a conciliatory look on his face. "I'm sorry for taking it lightly. I didn't mean to do that. Just tell me when it's something I might not understand right off, okay?" He suddenly grinned down at the diminuative girl. "I am a guy, you know. Sometimes we need to have these kinds of things explained to us."
  7. Well, the problem is that they're currently underground, fighting through a subterranean maze. It wouldn't make a lot of sense for someone else to show up, unless you can think of some reason he'd be there already.
  8. Completely unaffected by the cloud of noxious gas by virtue of not having to breathe, Nanowire stormed out of the alleyway in time to see their adversary sink into the ground. There wasn't much he could do to the man when he was out of range in that way, so he instead went up to Grim. "Are you okay?" he said quietly enough so only she'd be able to hear him. "Did it get you?"
  9. A friend sent that to me yesterday. I actually laughed myself out of my chair. :D
  10. I run one of the oldest and best established villain characters around here, and in the nine months I've done so, he's gotten into maybe 4 or 5 fights. That's not to say combat ability wasn't vital there, but it honestly hasn't come up all that often. If you're going to axe the combat portion, you'll have to find other people that just want to roleplay, not fight things.
  11. Since I've finished up my other thread with Thevshi, I think I can afford to pick up another one. Besides, I've kind of dubbed myself Nightrival and Grimalkin's unofficial storyteller. I'll get to the start on the weekend, just PM me the rest of the details.
  12. Basically, yes, but the great thing about it is that you get to explain it the way you want. You could have it clip her clothes or something and get super ticked as a result. Oh, and my Internets are dead tonight. Barely loaded this page!
  13. "That's it?" Ren said with a quirked eyebrow. "Just weak? You don't spontaneously combust? Or go blind? Or turn into a guy or something?" "Sorry, but that was a lot of build up for nothing." Ren grinned and gave Lynn a wink as he slid off the bed to show he didn't mean it. "I mean, I bare my soul and tell you that something any physics major can build a working model of can shut me down just like that," he snapped his fingers, "and all you've got for me is 'I get weak from certain types of cookware?' That's lame, Lynn." "And just for that, you get to pay for your own breakfast." He clapped his hands together and beckoned her out of the bed. "C'mon, kitty-cat. Time to get up. I know you puny hu-mans need food or you get all cranky from your bodies shutting down." As he spoke, Ren started gathering up his clothing and getting dressed.
  14. Should I just go now? I kinda forgot if Nano goes before or after Grim.
  15. Okay, Grim got nicked. That's a DC 20 toughness check for her, (a +5 damage effect) and she's up.
  16. Nightrival's erratic motions and quicksilver-like reaction speed allowed him to get to the guns practically before they had a chance to lock onto him. The fact that he was all over them like a bad rash shortly thereafter didn't help either. Though they tried the best a machine could, all their shots went wide, with the exception of the one Nightrival had directed at its allies. The middle turret on his side of the wall was sliced through in an instant, holed by its brother gun. More than that, though, the section of wall it had been attached to partly melted from the extreme heat of the disabled turret. However, there was still one more to deal with, and hanging off of the gun the way he was offered Nightrival little in the way of maneuverability. Grimalkin, without the the benefit of her mentor's years of experience, was caught flatfooted by the guns near her and was bracketed by fire from all of them at once. Fortunately, only one managed to get a hard lock on her nimble form and clipped her as she tried to get to cover.
  17. From the journal of Renichi Sonada - November 17th, 2007 [recording begins] I walked out of my apartment today and found a pie there waiting for me. Let me back up a bit. After dealing with TJ again, this time making sure the man was destined for a lengthy jail visit for discharging a weapon inside a building not once but twice in the same day, (hell, within the same hour) I made myself at home. I wasn't afraid of some two-bit hood, and the neighborhood would be better off without him. Little did I know how much better. From the looks of things, TJ and his friends had been holding the building and much of the surrounding projects as part of their little "empire", pitiful though it was. Without TJ, however, the rest of the gang packed up and headed out. Apparently nobody wanted to pick a fight with someone who bounces bullets off their chests - a surprisingly clearheaded and intelligent decision. What I hadn't counted on was the gratitude of the people held under TJ's thumb. Though no one has approached me, I have gotten several "thumbs up" and grateful nods from my fellow tenants. The landlord was even surprised when I showed up to pay him! This has been something of an eye opening experience for me. In Japan, the status quo is held as only little less than holy writ. Those under the control of the Yakuza are usually glad it's not someone worse, and deal with it the best they can. Here, however, even an outsider can gain the respect and gratitude of the community through, what I have to admit, was a fairly self-serving act of revenge. It's not what I expected. I'm having trouble reconciling my chosen path in the light of this. I'm likely going to need to do some... unsavory things to become human again, and the thought of harming people in order to do so is becoming more and more anathema as I live amongst them. I haven't even spoken to them yet, and I find the thought of one of them getting hurt through my actions... disturbing. [silverware clacking]...That, and this pie is really good. [slightly mumbled] 's apple. [end recording]
  18. I, too, will miss your presence on the board. It won't be quite the same without you... what do you do again? But seriously, it sucks to see you go outside of an official capacity, and I hope it was just that you decided it was time to move on, and not something I said or did. Good luck on the outside, Bar!
  19. The bottom one looks like the ending background from Doom 2, for some reason. The top one... well, it's different, that's for sure. Dunno why you can't see it, Barnum.
  20. Family manor? Is your last name Wanye, by any chance? :)
  21. Satan what now? Did I miss something? ...Huh, guess so. I just checked up on that paticular anime. It's... different. But then again, I can say that about all the stuff coming out of Japan these days.
  22. And I'll form the head! ...ahem. Sorry. Anyway, the guns have a 20. Wow, they really took their robo-Wheaties today. You're up first, SB. Just assume the turrets are still sighting in as you made your move. Also, remember you don't have to make an attack, since these guys are definately minions. You can take 10 on these things.
  23. To be fair, Inuyasha is made by the same person as Ranma 1/2 - Rumiko Takahashi. Same art style, same plot points... same voices... same characters, just with dog ears added... Damn! How'd she slip that by me?! :)
  24. It's not currently my wallpaper, but I feel I should share:
