  1. There is one problem: we might have to do some match-up to ensure the fight is fun for all involved. For example, a fight between Nanowire and Bael's character (I forgot the name) would be supremely unsatisfing. The reason is this: whoever hits the other first wins. Nanowire cannot hack a DC 22 Mind Blast, and Bael can't absorb a DC 27 Toughness save. The fight would end in a single turn, (likely with Nanowire minus a prefronal lobe )and not be enjoyable for anyone. So I propose this: "tanks", such as my character, would go up against like builds. Martial artists or Costumed Adventurers could fight one another, and Metalists or Mystics could battle it out. Anything else would end in frustration for the losers.

  4. Nanowire'll be there in a minute! He just has to blast in from Japan! (or get approved, whatever comes first. )

  7. Ok, done again. For the variable discriptor, I simply bumped it up to the full level, so he can use any technological discriptor with the blast. That also means the second Alternate power works now because of that. I lowered the Armored Cassis power to make up the points. Should be good to go now, but I thought that before, so I might be missing something. EDIT: Oh, and I really appriciate not one, but two GMs taking interest in my character. Thank you both very much, and I'm thrilled that you both think his concept's cool. :D

  10. That's exactly what it means. He could form a "water laser", ie, a cannon that shoots a ultra high pressure stream of water if he absorbed a fire hydrant. Similarly, he'd have to pick up something that fit the discriptor he was going for. Anything of significant size and mass. For instance, he cannot do anything with a CD player. Even though we're working with extremely rubber physics, (second law of thermodynamics? What's that?) a certain amount of mass conservation must be observed. A car would do to activate most of his powers - he'll strip off the metal to form armor (after it has been nanomorphed into Biphase Carbide and Spun Diamond), the pistons would go to make the Pneumatic Driver, and so on. That I did not know, or else refused to aknowledge. I'll take a look and mark it appropriately on my sheet. Answered above. I'll get that changed; probably just take off one of the Feats.

  13. Here in Washington, nature seems to be undecided on whether it's fall or spring. Last week, we bounced between seventy and fourty degrees outside. (That's between 21 and 4 degrees celsius for our friends joining us from... well, anywhere outside the US. )

  16. Oh man, I didn't change that? Sorry, like I said this guy's a direct port, so I haven't looked over all of him, just the parts I needed to change. I'll get right on that.

The GM said he was find as is, but obviously, you'll have to look it over yourself. HISTORY: How lucky could one guy get? By the end of high school, things had really fallen into place for Renichi Sonada. His grades and extracurriculars were good enough to get him into Tokyo University, and in fact, his interview with the Dean was set for next week. Out of school, he had a fairly nice social life, complete with girlfriend and everything. He even had a job at the local manga store just down the street from his house. Just when it seemed like his future was secure, though, all that changed. A routine after-school lab with some of his fellow Science Club buddies turned into something out an episode of the Twilight Zone when Renichi started absorbing pieces of computers and lab equipment. The other members ran like hell while he screamed for help, desperate to avoid… whatever was happening to him. It was a full two hours before anyone dared set foot in the room. By that time, Renichi was already gone, and with him, the entirety of the machinery therein. After that, he knew he couldn’t set foot in school again, in anywhere he had been before again. He didn’t know what had happened to him, only that there were people out there, unsavory people, who would either want to ask him some very pointed questions that he couldn’t possibly answer, or take him apart to find out what made him tick. And that wasn’t just a figure of speech. Ever since that day, Renichi has not had to breathe, or eat, or sleep. He had no heart beat, no circulation. Out of shear morbid curiosity, he wondered what the hell his insides looked like, stuffed to the brim with more electronics than Akihabura. Fortunately, his outward appearance hadn’t changed. He still looked every bit the person he was before. With nowhere to turn to, Renichi struck out for someplace he could hide, anywhere away from what he used to know; away from the pain of losing everything after one bad day. He ended up in Keihanshin Industrial Zone, just outside of Osaka. For some reason, he felt right at home among the piles of discarded machinery and half-leveled architecture. He set up a little fortress for himself, using the near endless supplies of raw materials at hand. It wasn’t too long before he drew attention to himself. Even as far off the beaten path as he was, the amount of construction underway ensured at least the homeless would stumble across his haven. He then had a decision to make. Drive them away and risk them telling the authorities, or allow them to stay and risk the authorities finding out anyway through word of mouth. Finally, he relented, permitting them to stay as long as they kept the secret of his location. And so it stayed for a time. He and about ten homeless people, the majority of them around his own age, If not younger, stayed in the fortress zone he’d carved out of the abandoned warehouses and workshops. The defenses he had built up to keep people out slowly became to fall as he associated with those that had it even worse than him. It seemed everyone had a story that put his to shame. Physical abuse, abandonment, impossible expectations… molestation… that part nearly made him throw up, despite the fact that such an action on his part was no longer possible. Things stayed that way for a while. But all good things come to an end. His “fortress†was abruptly invaded by someone calling themselves “Divine Windâ€Â, another metahuman individual. The resulting battle was mostly posturing, one super showing off to another, neither trying to do any real damage. However, when Kamikaze threw an I-beam through the roof in an attempt to hit Renichi, things got out of control. The warehouse they struggled in began to shake to pieces from the pounding, and Renichi abruptly lost his patience. He commandeered a steam shovel, or at least the shovel part, and smashed an entire section of wall batting Kamikaze away. Renichi walked out of the wreckage without much more than a scratch on his metallic hide. Many of his charges, however, were not so lucky. In his haste to prove his superiority over Kamikaze, he had neglected to notice people still inhabited the area. He did what he could, but in the end, only Daisuke survived without serious injury. After that, he retreated even deeper into his isolation, eschewing all human contact. He was a pariah to everyone he touched. Better no one ever laid eyes on him again. A year had passed before Renichi decided to do something about his situation. If he ever hoped to fit into normal society again, he needed a cure. There was nothing to be found in Japan, so he headed where the action was – Freedom City. Surely, there he could find somebody to cure him. First on his list, and most promising (at least he hopes) in Doc Otaku. Being Japanese himself, maybe he could sympathize. Next on his list is the Foundry. He’d heard that organization was possessed of machines nearing the complexity of humans anyway. How hard could it be for them to turn a machine back into a human? The last choice, and probably most likely to fail, is the genius inventor Daedalus himself. No matter what the cost, Renichi is resolved to become human again. Heaven help anyone that gets in his way. PERSONALITY: Renichi used to be the very picture of stability. Lots of friends, a secure future, and a generally healthy living environment will do that for you. A friendly guy at heart, he was always there for his friends, or anybody really, in times of need. Times change, though, and people change along with them. When he abandoned his home after his powers manifested, he was bitter, true, but with sustained contact with people, he was getting better. It’s hard to find that much wrong with your life when everybody you surround yourself with has a worse sob story than you do. His improvement had a lot to do with a kid named Daisuke, a hard luck story if he ever heard one. The kid grew up without parents, in a home with relatives that hated him, and had to eke out a living by begging or stealing whatever he could. In many ways, Renichi took it upon himself to act as the father Daisuke never had while they were living in his little home away from home. His mental state was further helped because of Daisuke’s fascination with Renichi’s abilities. Far from being afraid or disgusted, the boy actually tried to get him to use them at every opportunity. It seemed Daisuke couldn’t understand why others would find them frightening. All that came to an end when Renichi faced off with that other meta, Kamikaze. Pushed to the edge of his patience already by the invader, he snapped when it appeared his life was in real danger, lashing out with crushing force. Both Renichi and Kamikaze had the ability to live through the ordeal with little real damage done, but normal people, with normal constitutions, could not. Everyone outside of Daisuke died when the warehouse collapsed, and along with it, Renichi’s last real hope for reconciliation with the rest of society. Now, Renichi is a cynical, burnt out husk, the near exact opposite of his earlier attitudes. He believes that all people – all normal people – hate him, and he hates them in return. His previous depression has only strengthened, and there are days when he honestly cannot find it in himself to get up and do something, so far has he slid into his self-pitying ways. Despite this, there is hope. If someone takes it upon themselves to reach out to the boy, try to get him to see that having powers isn’t all that bad, Renichi might be turned from his current self-destructive funk. A chance to do some good would also do worlds of good, so to speak, for Renichi’s fractured psyche. The person to put him back on the right path would have the thanks of a greatful boy that never wanted powers in the first place. [Edited by Barnum] at the players request to fix a mistake on the saves. PP values weren't changed.
