  1. In my defense, I had planned to set up shop in Southside whether or not anyone was there. It was Damien that hoped to engage in some naughtyness, but I believe that was more directed towards Nanowire than Kevin. It wasn't like we both hopped out of the shadows and started pummeling the poor guy, y'know. ;)

I am not really trying to blame either you are Zero VM.

But, Southside is a big place, with everyone popping into the same thread, it seems to indicate that paths will cross and that there is an expectation that paths will cross (at least on some parts). Of course, part of this might be that the thread was started before there were subboards which would allow for multiple threads within "Southside".

  2. Yes there are more heroes than villains at the moment, but the problem can work both ways. Look what happened in the Southside thread, Herifeld was trying to start something for his PL 6 hero, hoping Ref would give him something to do and TWO PL 10 villains show up in the thread. Just because a villain (or hero) steps out the door and decides to do something does not mean other players should just jump into the thread in great numbers (or at all).

It should be completely possible for a villain to go pull off some crime and only have to deal with Ref controlled police (and maybe an NPC hero). Just as heroes should be able to go out and face Ref controlled NPC thugs and villains.

I personally am not a big fan of PvP, and plan be not be involved in it too much.

  5. Velocity sped back by the group after her attack on the giant mummy, glad to see the bound hero was free. Hearing Emissary suggest they work together to try to stop the threat, she was about to answer when the red hued Hybrid rejected the idea and flew towards the opponent on his own.

"Well, I'm up for trying to stop it together." She said quickly, then waited till the others seemed ready to launch the attack and streaked down at the giant mummy, delivering another powerful punch that broke the sound barrier.

  6. I did a bit of looking on the Atomic Think Tank in the numerous threads on grappling, and did not see one that specifically mentioned Attack Focus: Melee, and whether it would add to the grapple check roll.

But, I did find something that would indicate that it probably would. In one thread, Steve Kenson distinguished between Attack Specilization (Unarmed) and Attack Specilization (Grapple), stating that the unarmed spec would help in the attack roll to initiate the grapple, but not the grapple check, while the grapple spec would aid in the grapple check, but not the initial attack roll. Attack Focus Melee is broader (hence only +1 for 1 pp instead of +2), so it would reason that it would apply to both the attack roll to intitiate and the grapple check.

Interestingly, Kenson also said that someone could All-Out Attack (for +5 to hit) and use the Improved Grab feat to start a grapple of that attack and get the +5 bonus from All-Out Attack on the grapple check for the round :)

  9. Hey MarkK, unless I'm seriously screwed up on this one, you only have a Grapple mod of +19. (+10 (STR) +4 (Base Attack Bonus) +5 (Super-Strength) = 19)

I'm pretty sure you don't count Melee Focus in the equation, but I may be wrong. Beard, any thoughts?

Well, it is for the Refs to determine here, but the rules for Grapple say its the "attack bonus" that is part of the equation, not Base Attack Bonus. After all, grappling is melee (or unarmed fighting), so it would make sense to me that Attack Focus Melee would add to it.

  12. Amazon looked around for the closest fire hydrant to the homes that were on fire and strides over to it. Once there, she reaches down to try to pull the top off the hydrnt.

  15. "Oh jeeze." Velocity said as she saw Emissary trying to free Raindancer from the wrappings that were constricting him. Knowing she would be little use in trying to use strength to get them off, she looked back at the giant mummy. "Maybe they'll loosen up when the big guy goes down!"

With that she sped back down the street to deliver another attack, once more putting a bit more into the force of the punch. She then moves past the mummy about one hundred feet.

  16. Left it out of my IC post as I was thinking about it, Amazon's costume is a dark green and black fully bodysuit (the morphic molecules looking like spandex as typical). With it she has a black mask.

  19. Once she saw her friends were making their way away from the scene and towards the safer areas in the Boardwalk, Sabrina ducked into an alleyway and began to change into her costume. With powers like hers, normal clothing would not last, so she thankfully had costumes made from the Atom’s morphic molecules that she had been given while at Claremont Academy. Soon, she was at her maximum height of ten feet and making her way out of the alley to see what she could do to help.
