  1. Predator

Jean nodded as Lyong spoke. She had met her own share of crackpots and mad scientists in her time before arriving in Freedom.

At the mention of the new drug her ears perked forward. It sounded very dangerous

    …and very familiar.

“Has Dr. North been involved in any cloning projects?”

    She asked .

“Because I think things may be becoming much more serious.”

Jean gives Lyong a serious look.

“After I tell you what brought me here, you may need to contact whomever is in charge in Dr North’s absence.”

  2. Predator

Information scrolled across her screens as her suit scanned and magnified. Without a properly equipped lab even her sensors couldn’t tell the difference down to a cellular level.

But there was something amongst all the data…

She turned her attention to Echohead as he asked to copy her mental capabilities. Everything she had been able to find out about the man and his ability said it was harmless to those he ‘copied’.

Though the long term effects on him are something yet to be seen.

Still, she gave him a nod.

    “That’s fine, you may proceed.”

Predator turned her attention back to examining the bodies.

    “Your input may be useful.”

    She added.

“I am detecting something from the specimens.”

She sorted through a few screens before settling on one in particular.

“You have a monitor I can use for a moment?”

  3. Predator

Predator had ducked a clumsy swing by one of the alien soldiers. She ignored the attempted attack in favor of her intended target. She could reengage with them afterwards of needed.

As she entered melee range with the mechanized unit it turned its attention on her and produced melee weapons of its own. The blades radiated intense heat according to her sensors, most probably some form of plasma. She continued to close the distance.

The machine was faster then she had given it credit for. As she moved to avoid one plasma blade, she felt the impact of the second. A few warning lights flashed on her screens, but she didn’t feel the heat inside. Something about the angle of the strike seemed to react with the resonance of the armor’s trans-dimensional workings and it managed to shunt the worst of the blade’s effect.

Even as the glow was fading from Predator’s chest plate, she retaliated. The armored hero lunged forward with both blades, and found a weak spot. Her own blades tore through metal and electronics, creating a shower of sparks as the mecha stumbled under the attack before crumbling into an inactive heap.

Predator turned to face the alien troops that had managed to find their feet again. The last of the glow fading from her armor, she stands, as if daring the next attacker to step forward.

  4. Can Predator jump up on to the mecha to melee attack it?

If not, she'll just attack from the ground.

For the attack I want to spend a HP to gain Power Attack

Using Power Attack to -5 to attack/+5 to damage

    Melee attack: 12

I am convinced it only rolls this poorly for me. ><

    HP to reroll: 14+10= 24

If that manages to hit the Toughness is DC30

  5. Ah, I see the Feat version of Selective must apply to only Saving Throw based powers. The Extra version is for Attack Roll powers. Adding an Action Flaw is fine since he isn’t moving from where he is anyway.

Thank you for catching that. I just copied the original AP without double-checking the feats on it.

  6. Paper

A paper motorcycle wove through traffic, pulling off moves a real one could never do. On its back rode a young man wearing a hooded coat, a white mask covering his mouth and nose and a short scarf flicking in the wind. It was a new look he was trying out since his return from Tokyo with his girlfriend and teammates.

Paper goggles shielded his eyes as he pulled the bike down an alley shortcut. Behind the mask and goggles though, he was pissed. He had been half way to meet Neko for a dinner date when Charlie’s message appeared as a text on his phone.

Neko was understanding about the whole hero thing, but easily pulled a promise to make it up to her later from him.

A simple 'OMW' text was all he had replied with.

Now though, he was mad and needed someone to take it out on. A few weeks ago, that probably would have been Charlie himself, but the boys had made steps towards building bridges so Leon would have to settle for punching whoever was causing the problem.

A paper ramp and he easily cleared the street and darted down another alley.

To be honest he only half read the text before calling his girlfriend. Something about the Devil’s Advocates and a couple of scrubs squaring off. He was a street kid, he’d heard of the DAs but he and his siblings had always tried to steer clear of them and the weirdos they had worked for.

Rumor was they were running on demons, which to be fair, back then was a little hard to take seriously. But now that he’d gotten around some more himself… Well, maybe it wasn’t so far-fetched.

A sharp turn and he skidded under the trailer of an 18-wheeler, just to pop up right as he pulled onto Lindroos Bridge heading into Kingston.

He should probably check the text again, but Charlie will probably just repeat himself once he gets there.

  7. Paper

Papers eyes darted from one ninja to the next behind his mask. A flash of metal and he leaned his head to the side.

He still felt the bite of the shuriken as it scratched him. He touched the spot and saw the blood on his finger tips.

    “That’s one.”

Paper waves a hand and paper flows out of his sleeve to form into several floating paper lanterns around him. He reaches out to touch one and it spasms at his touch.

A tear forms in it, opening to reveal a single large eye. The latern tears again into a large mouth and a long tongue hangs out of the ragged edges.

Suddenly, the chochin obake lurches forward in a wild swaying path that looks like it will carry it over the heads of the ninjas.

At least until it stops midair and spasms again.

Paper balls the size of bearings explode from the latern yokai construct. They fill the air at the front of the crowd, but they strike with surgical precision. Not a single bystander is struck by the hail of hardened paper balls, only the ninjas Paper can perceive.

  8. Alternate Power: [36PP] (Additional Descriptors: Paper Barrage)

Damage 10 (Range: 10 10-ft Increments, 100 ft Max; Extras: Area [Targeted, Burst], Penetrating [6 ranks, Effective Damage 16]; Feats: Accurate 2 [+4 Attack], Improved Critical 2 [18-20], Indirect 3, Selective, Subtle, Variable Descriptor [Bludgeoning, Piercing, and/or Slashing Damage]; Drawback: Medium [Paper]) [36/36]

All I did was change the [General, Cone] he normally has, for [Targeted, Burst]. It doesn’t change the cost and it already has Selective.

Of course he can only target the ones he can see. So any still hiding he can’t target.

  9. Predator

The train was obviously of custom design and construction, Jean thought when she arrived. She met up with the other heroes recruited for this mission, giving Echohead a nod as introductions were made.

Jean regarded the other hero, she seemed young, but she had work with a number of younger heroes lately and they all seemed to be promising heroes.

Jean had been sitting calmly as the train sped along. She watched out the window as it carried herself and two others out of Freedom. She had worked with the Agent code named Echohead twice before. He was a good man and he could be counted on.

The other one though, called Rewind, she wasn’t familiar with. Jean had seen a few photos of her with other members of the Atom Family, but this was her first time meeting the woman. She would evaluate her by her actions as she did everyone else.

When Ms Shrine brought them to the covered tables and began to debrief them, she gave Ms Shrine her full attention.

The events Shrine described were unusual, without question.

    “How quick is the transformation?”

Jean asked, leaning a little closer to look.

“I assume the transformation occurs despite protective attire.”

    She added seemingly unphased.

“Otherwise you would have contained this already. What about bodily fluids? Spit or saliva?”

There was a ripple in the air around Jean and the Predator armor covered her. She scanned each body through the visual spectrum, everything from thermal to ultraviolet, recording and comparing them. Leaning in as close as she dared, Predator switched to more detail inspection, zooming in to a microscopic level.

“What happened when robotics were used to collect samples?”

She asked, assuming they had attempted already.

  10. Predator

Jean had arrived at the WEST office unarmored. There was no need to cause a scene. She had brought the samples in a cold case for safe transport.

She could tell Lyong was nervous and graciously accepted the offered coffee. She only hoped her appearance wasn’t adding to the woman’s nerves.

The office wasn’t encouraging but looked to be maintained as best they could, which was encouraging. And when she saw the lab she wasn’t surprised. The building wasn’t very big and accounting for office use, it was on par with her own lab. Though she did see some different equipment, perhaps they could determine more from the samples. Or send them off to another lab.

She offered the case to Lyong.

“I’m sure you can see these are handed off to the proper personnel. I believe it’s connected to Dr North’s disappearance.”

“Now, what can you tell me about whatever North was working on? Had anyone made threats against him? Any possible rivalries?”

She asked, trying to sound calm and optimistic in an attempt to ease Ms Lyong.

  11. Chimera

Red tinged the world as Chimera fell upon the possessed man. Following her initial attack, she felt him struggle under her. He almost slipped free of her but her new rage pushed her and she managed to keep her grip on him.

    “I said, GIVE IT BACK!

She roared. She was honestly beginning to scare herself, but she just couldn’t seem to control herself as she pulled back and slammed the man’s head into the pavement again.

Why did she even want it back? I felt wrong in every way. But something driving her anger. Hopefully it wasn’t going to drive her right over an edge she couldn’t come back from.

  12. Predator

Jean frowned and glanced back at the table where her collected samples sat.

    “I hope I can.”

She replied, trying to sound confident.

“I have some samples I need to have double checked. Do you have facilities on site or a satellite lab that I can take them to?”

She asked, already moving to gather some of the samples for safe transport.

“Also, I would like to request a debriefing on what Dr North was looking into in Alaska, as well as access to his personal file. I understand it may need clearance from higher up, but it may be important.”

  13. Actually, if I use a HP to stunt a power, could I alter my AoE to targeted instead of general? And would burst catch more than cone?

I figure the ninjas have a decent Ref save, so targeted makes an attack roll instead of a save roll. And since they’re minions I can take 10 to hit any of them in range, right. Plus it already has selective so he can avoid civilians.

  14. Predator

Jean gave the Fleshometer one more look.

She hadn’t been able to fine tune it as well as she’d have liked. Her design was fine but she was limited by her resources. The micro-compensation-comparators just weren’t on hand.

She set the device aside and pulled up the information Cynthia had managed to collect. She poured over it but finance had never been a appealing subject to her. She had always left that to Catharine. She had been overly qualified, due had been loyal.

Jean missed her and the rest of her team. But she could dwell on that. There was something going on and Jean was determined to find out what it was.

She saved the data for reviewing again later and called on the local WEST office again, hoping for an update as she prepared to head out herself.
