Hale couldn't help but feel thankful that he was wearing his helmet, certain he would've been unable to hide his expression otherwise, not rightly knowing what it was himself he felt that pulling faces of uncertain origins would only cause matters to disintegrate again and more than likely get him shot at again.

"After you madam, sir." he states a little flatly, haivng had sufficient time to cool off he was now only a little bit surly about the conditions of his current mission from the stones and willing to just solider on through it without any more bellyaching

<I want a good view of this...

well...almost no bellyaching.

Argonaut kept silent.  She was slightly bemused by the officer's attempt at showing off.  Possibly even posturing at the possibly of being supplanted in his role as a law enforcement officer.  It was moot, of course.  Even if he stayed outside he would've gotten credit for an arrest if needed.  AEGIS couldn't legally have Argonaut do the vigilante thing and make arrests.

But still she kept silent.  Pointing out any of this would have been a waster of time.  And she was genuinely curious as to what they would find in the research facility.  So if Gomer Pyle wanted to lead the way.  By all means.

The building was a laboratory come living space, come teenagers bedroom. Scientists were supposed to be methodical. This place was littered with papers, junk food, magazines, books...one had to tread carefully.

"What in the name of darnation is this?" huffed the Sherrif, clearly not one to value the written word.

The lights flickered overhead, before coming on. Two had burnt out, but with the sunlight and the remaining lights, it was bright enough to see the mess inside.

"Was this guy robbed, or was he just the laziest sonovabitch in town?" asked the Sherrif, and it was true - it was hard to tell...

Having lived somewhat in squalor since the passing of his parents, Hale had found himself caring more and more about his hygein and cleanliness the further and further he'd sunk into his despair, some sort of obsessive need to keep his appearance after the fading of his modest wealth and indeed contentment in life no doubt; to say this mess distressed him would be an understatement, to his credit he holds out for almost a whole second before he thinks he sees something moving amidst the filth, this coupled with his rapidly emerging mycophobia and stress at being shot at leads to his instincts out running his reason and his mind defends itself in the best way it can think of.

<kill it with purple explosions.>

breaking from his almost impercivable shuddering he bellows "Gross, Gross, GROSS." before drawing his sword and in one fluid motion wiping away the disgusting sty's clutter in a wall of purple magic that races out like a claustrophobic flow from the sword rending the clutter at the atomic level even as it passes harmlessly over the sherrif and omega drone.

Scientists tend to be messy.  Argonaut had been under a microscope many times before.  She was intimately familiar with a lab environment.  This was no lab environment.  Even Dr. Friendly kept his actual workspace sterile enough to compromise results.  Not that he cared about his test subjects.

She didn't address the armored gentleman's point about the grossness of the situation.  Or the sheriff's query of whether it was robbed.  Instead she walked towards the nearest pile of nasty.  Reached out with an armored hand.  And began to pull up as she inspected the area.

Once more finding herself grateful for the fact that she was in a sealed suit.  Not having to worry about whatever smell lingered in the air.  Next time the girls complain about having to clean their rooms, I can take heart it could be worse.

"Doctor, are you in this lab?"  She called out.  Hoping a corpse wouldn't be found in the pile of garbage.
