  1. Arug will take 10 for a Stealth check to go unnoticed above the foliage (10+9=19) I think it would be hilariously awkward if Saeid and the Bluesman bumped into each other in the hiding spot, but I left it open to interpretation.

Oh... Saeid was a bit startled by the reveal this city cannot avoid attracting dangerous men, it seems. Without losing sight of the armed lads, he texted his wife "Real danger, men with guns. Get out of the park now, Arug will protect you for a while. I love you." Then he concentrated on his magical friend Follow Jamila. Protect her. If I give signal, fly her away and come back to help. He quickly received confermation (empathic from the carpet, digital from his wife). He hoped that nobody would notice a large carpet hovering above the trees' foliage, and that his wife would manage to get away in safety. He then circled back towards the booths, looking for a hiding spot. He found a secluded corner, where he saw just an abandoned guitar case. He laid low, looking at the longcoats from behind a large oak trunk, loosened his civilian clothes, raised the scarf over his mouth and the cowl over his head. He quickly scouted the area: besides the irascible blacksmith's stall there was a wonderful tent made of thick cloth... it could come in handy. And I thought dealing with a half-crazy superpowered billionaire playboy would be the oddest thing today... probably a good thing he's around though... He setted his phone so to hide the ID of the caller, and sent a text to the cellphone number he found on Amir's card. "Troubles around the beach stage. Look out for the men in the longcoats. We may need your powers. A friend of peace and justice."
  3. I like the first one better too. I'll do a third version, with the lighter greys of the 2nd but without the silly green pads, as soon as Hero Factory starts working again (I don't know you, but since the last Adobe Flash update half the buttons make the screen go totally white). I'm still used to put a brief description aside each power... I think it improves immediate understanding. But since the policy here is different, I'll edit. What's wrong with Complications formatting? I know. I don't have the points for two separate devices, low-level characters are very tight. I really like your idea of a transforming weapon, it's fun and it makes sense rule-wise, can I use it even if I don't have any rank in craft [mechanical] ? Keep in mind that his weapons, much like his costume, are "borrowed" from action movie sets and the storage room at his job...or maybe I could scrape off 2 pp to make the array hard to lose and rename it "weapons belt"... but it doesn't fell much better, I don't know... He doesn't know about the Labyrinth. His history works perfectly well if instead of "DNAscent labs" we put "shadowy scientists in bed with OBN who are secretly DNAscent labs". yeah, it's definitely nowhere near as important for the character as Tony Stark's. The idea was that he re-became a health nut after the downfall and the experiment, and alcohol was the toughest thing to renounce. I see it as coming into play in an ipothetical undercover situation where he can't refuse a drink, and little else. I could probably rephrase it as a more comprehensive and original health nut thing, would it be better? EDIT: decided to put the flawed Flight as a power stunt, and I bought the Move-by action feat with the free point.
  4. I don't know if it's necessary, but here's a Stealth check. 1d20+13=26. Nice. Also, my Move Objects power is Subtle and Precise. if, and only if, all of that worked, here's a preemptive Notice Check. If the situation allows it I'll take 10 (10+13=23), otherwise here's the roll 1d20+13=15. Damn it.

Saeid was jokingly contending with his wife for the last fries when yet another bulky-looking man wearing a coat passed right before his eyes in that weird walk, as if he had a hole in his pocket and was afraid of loosing what was inside. Oh, here, too? Uff... it just never stops in this city... "What's bothering you, honey?" Jamila took advantage of his distracted husband and finished up the fries. "It's probably nothing, Jami, but in this city, you never know... keep your eyes open towards those guys in logcoats down there by the stage: if Arug touches you, hop on and he'll fly you to safety." he didn't move his sight from the seating area of the stage for a moment, but directed his thoughts to his magical sidekick Possible danger. Stay close to Jamila. If I give signal, fly her away and come back to help me. The magical rug unrolled itself at Jamila's feet, ready to spring out with her. He helped his wife to secure the surprisingly substantial earnings of the day in her purse and put on the table a "BACK SOON" sign. He left the carpets there... they may come in handy. Behind a cloth screen he put on the basic layer of his costume under his normal clothes, then unrolled a bunch of scarves and his cape and put them beside his booth, were he could reach them with his powers and put them on in a second. Then, acting as casually as possible, he moved towards the crowd, two rows behind one of the longcoat men. He waited for the man to move a bit and flap his coat, then he raised his hand smoothly, forcing the coat of the guy to slide aside just enough to peek a bit under it.
  6. Weaver: Notice 1d20+13=32... wow way to waste a good roll...
  7. Thank you for the imput! I already submitted this sheet to the bank, but I put the flawed flight as AP of leaping instead of the other way around - to emphasize the fact that using that power is uncommon - it may even become just a power stunt. When I came up with the idea I spent weeks on the ATT but nobody was able to come up with something better. I actually imagined some situations were mere Leaping just ain't gonna cut it; I need a risky Flight for the concept to make sense. But I can probably put the flawed Flight as a power stunt if it makes REFs more comfortable. I don't plan to use it much until I buy off the drawbacks anyway... not only it's a potential headache, it's very dangerous for the character! Note that since this boards don't allow Acrobatics Check Required as a flaw, I put it as a drawback and added drawbacks from Ultimate Power... I didn't make up any of the DB.
  8. Here's my submission for my PL 7 slot. is the costume acceptable? Despite the apparence, he rally has NOTHING to do with a military type. I think it can fit, but let me know. I also designed more colorful version, if the first one was deemed too dark
  9. Player Name: Airon Character Name: G-Stunt Power Level: 7 (105/107PP) Trade-Offs: +1 Attack/-1 Damage (staff), +3 Attack/-3 Damage (boomerang), +2 Defense/-2 Toughness Unspent Power Points: 2 Progress To Bronze Status: 2/30 In Brief: B-movie stuntman with a clumsy control over his own gravity pull and a couple of martial arts tricks Alternate Identity: Stuart Allen Identity: Secret Birthplace: Sacramento, CA Occupation: Sports store clerk, stuntman (former) Affiliations: Family: Howard, father; Gina, mother; April, little sister Description: Age: 27 (DoB:November 30, 1983) Apparent Age: mid-twenties Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 6’ Weight: 176 lbs Eyes: blue Hair: brown Stuart is a very athletic man in his mid-twenties. He trains at least one hour every day in martial arts and acrobatics, and has lean muscles and graceful movements; arms and chest bear a haf a dozen of tiny scars from his life of stunts; he keeps his brown hair in a buzz cut, has a narrow and pointed chin and dark blue eyes; he is far-sighted and has to wear contact lenses. His super-hero suit is a prop costume he stole from the set of a crappy action B-movie. It’s a full body suit of a mimetic dark grey; upon the chest Stuart badly sewed his colorful logo. To complete the costume, he added boots, gloves, kneepads and elbowpads. He carries his weapons on the belt. Power Descriptions: Stuart has control over the direction the gravitational pull – but limited to his own person. He can basically decide which direction to “fallâ€. He can set the pull perpendicular to the ground to walk on a wall, or set it opposite to the ground to fall upwards at terminal velocity. He can even increase his land speed by slightly tilting it forward so to be always running downhill! It’s still pretty clumsy in the use of this power: more than once he calculated badly the direction of the fall and ended up banging his head on the ceiling or, even worse, flung recklessly for a couple of blocks until he hit a building. His training as an stuntman expert in falls is probably the only reason he didn’t broke several bones using his powers. He also carries a tricked-out weapon, that can become a three-section staff or a set of thorwing batons. History Stuart grew up dreaming of being an action hero on Hollywood. He was lucky enough to be born in a family where he could afford to train in martial arts, stage combat, acrobatics and stuntman tricks. At 20 he moved to Hollywood: the plan was to start off as a stunt-man, taking acting lessons and move up into being the next Sylvester Stallone or Jet Li, but his luck never really struck. He did stunts in a bunch of terrible action B-movies and cable shows, all easily forgotten by public and industry alike. An occasion arose for him in Freedom City, when his agent got him a role as chief henchman in Deadly Assault III, a tired sequel of a once very popular action movie franchise from New Horizon Media. The movie was a disaster, killing the Deadly Assault franchise, and Stuart’s acting performance was probably the worst part of the whole mess. Stuart was losing his career – he mostly worked as a bouncer at nightclubs, drinking heavily and hoping to meet a producer or a director. He got another chance when Lewis McManara, of Olympic Broadcast Network, agreed to hire him as stunt-man in a new superhero-themed TV show. There he met Anna, a young starlet wannabe who was scripted in a small but significant role after years of being just a glorified fanservice extra. Stuart and Anna hit it off – mostly bonding over a similar experience as struggling actors. For a couple of months all seemed well, but then he caught her cheating on him with a producer. Between the betrayal and the pressure of the show, he started committing errors, dangerous errors, and was fired from the series around the third episode. But that still wasn’t rock bottom for him. Acting out of revenge, he leaked photos of Anna on paparazzi media, leading to the producers killing off her character in an attempt to distance themselves from her. This lead to a huge guilt trip form Stuart who started drinking again. But OBN is secretly owned by the Labyrinth. With his highly trained physique, a mind made weaker by depression and alcohol, and nothing to lose, Stuart was a perfect candidate to lure into taking the DNAscent treatment. He was only told that some scientist friends of OBN's producers selcte him as a perfect match. He was brought in with promises of augmenting his agility and strength, to become the best action hero America had ever known; of course, the real plan (that he never disocrvered) was for Stuart to become a brainwashed augmented bodyguard for some media tycoon – but something went wrong. His DNAscent-induced flying ability was so clumsy to be almost useless, and in interfered with the physique augmentation leading to his body rejecting the enhancing drugs. When Stuart realized he was a failed experiment, he overheard some fo the scientists say that he would however make a good guinea pig for the more experimental and untested procedures. That was enough for him to find the strength to escape. This experience (and his new powers) opened his eyes; now he doesn’t dream of playing an action hero: he is one. He got a job as a clerk in a large store of sports and martial arts equipment at the Millenium Mall, found a small apartment in Riverside he shares with Ruben Aguirre, an accountant about his age. He made himself a costume, and now acts as a crime-fighter, trying to understand better his power and working on his martial arts skills. Personality & Motivation: Stuart hit rock bottom and is only happy to have a chance to rise again. After leading a basically egoistical life that culminated in a vengeful act out of spite, he feels obligated to lead a better life from now on. He swore off alcohol, and decided that the best cure against depression was to stop crime with a smile on his face. His acting is still terrible, and usually his puns aimed to distract or his intimidating speeches to the criminals fall sadly flat. He fares much better on the physical side. The desire for fame is still there, though: right now he has to lay low for fear of the OBN (secretly DNAscent) henchmen that still have unfinished business with him, but he dreams of eventually stopping a big super-criminal and rise up to fame. Powers & Tactics: G-Stunt operates as a standard crime-fighter, Daredevil or Nightwing-style: using his powers to run on rooftops patrolling the city, he sneaks up on enemies and fights them with his acrobatic style. He prefers to go toe to toe with the staff but if the threat is big he gets a position of advantage on a ceiling or on a high wall and blasts away with the batons. Complications: Struggling: The clerk job provides him with free energy bars, and very little cash. It’s not built for that: When he leaps and wall-walks, his body weight effectively pushes on the surface he’s on. While floors are designed to bear people, a drywall or a skylight ceiling can easily break under his weight. Attention whore: While he keeps it sedated, his hunger for fame is still there. If the occasion arise, he may not be able to resist and expose himself when it should be wiser to lay low. They're out to get me: In primis the scientists who experimented on him (secretly DNAscent labs, manuevered by the Labyrinth), but also the goons hired by the producers whose photos he leaked. Health Nut: he follows a very precise regime of excercise and diet, and may be unsettled by big changes in this lifestyle. Saeid swallowed at the nonchalant display of wealth that exuded from Amir's words “A-a cashier check would do egregiously, effendi. Thank you very much.†he said, shaking his customer’s hand. He was expecting an extended bargain, that ancient way of doing business that his father taught him, but instead… While an equally dazed Jamila helped the young woman make a choice, he concluded the transaction with Amir, hesitating when taking the check Oh Allah most gracious… now I have to keep a 6000 $ check in my pocket for all the weekend… He bade farewell to his generous customer and saw that his wife was done with the young woman “Love †he asked her “do you think you can manage alone for a few minutes? I’m going to get us something to eat at the food truck down the footpath.†Jamila agreed and in less than five minutes he was back with a couple of turkey sandwiches and a portion of fries. He was barely able to see his booth behind the crowd that had swallowed Amir the second he left the carpets stall.

“<W-Well, it would be 5000 $ for the Tabriz and 900 $ for the sajjada.>†replied Saeid, a bit surprised by the abruptness with which Amir cut to the chase and asked for the price. “<Of course we will offer you a discount on the total price, even more substantial should you decide to purchase other pieces as well.>†Saeid rolled up the carpets chosen by Amir and put them aside. Wow, that was easier than I expected. “<Now, we should be able to open by Wednesday next week, if the relief squad set up by the City keeps up with the schedule to fix the viability.>†he followed with his finger the path form Parkside to his shop on the map printed on the rear of the catalogue, stopping at the big yellow dot in the West End. “<So when you’ll be able to come by to pick up your products, we’ll offer you several payment options, hopefully our credit cards lines will be re-established and functioning, or if you prefer a diluted payment we can offer you a very convenient rate…>â€

Oh, so he’s not just PR and a big smile thought Saeid hearing his father’s tongue. “<Yes, we are in fact a local business. Though I’m afraid the recent crisis put quite a strain on the neighbor, my father’s shop has been in the West End for more than three decades now. Saeid Ashoubi is my name, effendi.>†“<And for your respectable secretary, now, if you would like to come by our store in the next week, we’ll be more than happy to show you different pieces including some of these marvelous Isfahan, you won’t find a higher KPSI in all Freedom City. These are tough and you can walk over them for over a century, and they will never lose their smoothness , nor the way they shine when hit by the morning sun.>†Saeid flipped through the catalogue to show his customer what he was talking about. He was starting to regret not to have brought some of his best works. He figured the fair would have been mostly populated with low-income families and he left at the shop most of his expensive stuff. “<We certainly have a wider selection in the shop, mister Al-Misri, but I think I can interest you in something right now…>†Jamila spoke while her husband was showing the catalogue. “<Love, if you would be so kind as to bring the Tabriz…>†Saeid smiled at her wife with admiration Of course the Tabriz. That’s perfect. He unrolled the rug from behind the table and pitched it for the customer. “<Here, effendi, look. An most elegant and soft Tabriz carpet, depicting Shérazade charming the Sultan with her tales>†he looked upon Amir’s face to catch the reaction “<Certainly a most appropriate gift for any woman working in the PR business…>â€
  13. I’m definitely not playing Jamila as a stereotypical submissive Muslim wife. We are in Freedom City, not in a rural village in central Iran. She may cover her head and not act flirtatious around Amir as some other young women would, but she’s certainly not remissive about engaging in conversation as a peer.

“Yes, and we’ll be open from 10:00 to 19:00, as soon as the authorities greenlight the re-opening of the 88th and the West End.†Saeid handed the tall woman a catalogue of his works “You can find some wonderful bargains, we cut the prices for solidarity to all the houses that have to be rebuilt after the Gorgon… Oh thank you, madam! I hope to see you soon!†He bowed slightly as the woman walked away. A sudden wave of heat hit him when the tattooed guy two stalls to the left closed his act blowing in the air a massive fireball. At first Saeid had cursed at the sight of those pyrotechnic tricks, afraid that the guy would recklessly set on fire the surrounding trees, but hour after hour it became clear that he knew very well his trade, and his show, along with the young musician, was gathering in quite a crowd. “Honey, isn’t that the guy… Al-Misri… that guy who was on Letterman last week?†asked his wife when the Muslim playboy appeared four booths down the footpath “Yes, yes, it’s that rich guy who got in that accident at FCU. I think he’s a superhero now, or something similarâ€. Saeid watched the millionaire approaching, smiling and tossing a smart line at every young lady who walked past him. That man would be very good to have as a friend he thought to himself. Time to put on my game face. “Salam aleik, mister Al-Misri, effendi†Saeid greeted him when the playboy tossed a quick look at the stall “can I tempt you with an exquisite prayer mat for salah?†Jamila put up her sweetest smile as she unrolled on the table a couple of the best sajajid.

"I really should have asked Father to come with me, honey. It gets chilly in the autumn, with all this wind..." complained Saeid while arranging a couple of his biggest carpets on the poles that constituted the skeleton of his booth. “That’s nonsense,†replied his wife “I’ll spend enough time closed up in the house when the baby comes.†even covered in the loose and layered traditional Islamic clothes she was wearing to keep up the mood of their shop, her belly was starting to be noticeable. “And your father could really use some rest. When you were flying around saving people from those terrible plant-monsters, he was the one who drove us safety and the one who put together the store in the aftermath.†She sat down on one of the plastic chairs and started arranging the business cards of their shop and the catalogues with all the carpets they didn’t bring to the fair. Images of the Gorgon invasion flashed before Saeid’s eyes. That had been a real baptism for him, his first huge crisis since he started heroing around. “Don’t remind me. I still have nightmares about those things.†“So don’t think about it†Jamina smiled at him “sit here and relax, customers aren’t going to arrive until a half hour at least, and I have enough baby-magazines to show you until… I’m joking, I’m joking!†she laughed at the panicky look Saeid’s face assumed. “Don’t worry, I’m tired of those too. Let’s just enjoy this beautiful morning in the park!†“And maybe sell some rugs, too... there’s a lot of work to do in the West End before it becomes a nice neighbor to shop in again.†He landed a kiss on his wife’s cheek, and started paying attention at the few early customers walking in the Harvestfair. He put up his fake Persian accent “Welcome, good sir! Interested in a exquisite carpet?â€

If it’s preferable that I divide this flaw into four separate 1-point drawbacks, let me know. The Leaping represents the fact that for small-scale flights he learned how to change his gravity pull at the right moment, so to land smoothly. Speed 1 [1 pp] [by slightly tilting his gravity axis, he can make it so that he is always running downhill] Super-Movement 3 (Wall-Crawling 3) [6 pp] [by directing his gravity pull towards walls or ceilings, he can use them as a floor] ATTACK RANGE SAVE EFFECT Unarmed Touch DC 18 Toug (Staged) Damage (Physical) Staff Touch DC 21 Toug (Staged) Damage (Physical) Boomerang Ranged DC 19 Toug (Staged) Damage (Physical) Abilities (30) + Combat (22) + Saves (11) + Skills (13) + Feats (11) + Powers (18) = 105 Power Points here's the draft for my PL 7 slot. The power is kinda weird and Idon't know if I built it well - feedback is very welcome. Also, is the costume acceptable? Despite the apparence, he rally has NOTHING to do with a military type. I think it can fit, but let me know.
  19. Here's my scratchpad: character ideas, random builds, HeroMachine tinkerings. Feedback and comments are very, very welcome. PKNA Builds Intro Paperinik (PL 10) - Fowly Cowl! With Gyro's Gadgets! Xadhoom (PL 12) - Nuclear energy controller with a big brain and a bigger thirst for revenge Urk (PL 10) - Barbarian with tech - the finest hunter from a different timeline Evronian soldier (PL 5) - Dumb alien mook armed with advanced technology The Raider (PL 11) - Big and tough chrono-pirate Trauma (PL 14) - Alien, mutant, psychic, fear-inducing powerhouse!
  20. works very well for me. I'll probably have a booth to show my merchandise, and my wife with me (if the weather is bad or cold, my father instead of my wife).
  21. that is excellent! thanks a lot since you'll be running it, I of course withdraw the request of having only 2 players... choose the number you like the most...
  22. Ok, If I have to run my presentation thread, I'd rather have just 2 heroes other than Weaver - Arichamus, thank you very much for the interest! - but as I said, if someone is willing to be a GM, I actually prefer to just play than to run a game...
  23. Hi guys. I just had my first character approved, and I'm looking to introduce him to Freedom City. I was wondering if there's some hero feeling like meeting new allies out there... My character is PL 10 but so far, in his backstory, orbited around street-level threats. I would rather play than be a GM though, expecially for my first thread. I'm not looking for anything in particolar, be it a social thread or a heavily action-oriented one... thanks for the attention!
  24. done. I added Improved critical and split attack as power feats to the power you suggested.
  25. can you elaborate on the Suffocate uselessness? Just out of curiosity, I never really used Suffocate and I found that it fitted the character, I don't know if it works well. Why isn't it useful in your experience? Too many characters with huge Constitution bonus?
