  1. ok, the only actions requiring rolls are the two thugs trying to free themselves. They'll attack their Snare with a Mighty Strike, so the Snare (who thanks to critical and everything has a Toughness of +15) has to make a DC 23 toughness check 1d20+15; 1d20+15 → [19,15] = (34) 1d20+15; 1d20+15 → [15,15] = (30) yeah, those two ain't getting out of anything. * * * new round. If he can take All-out movement, next round the fleeing thug will reach the end of the bridge. Catalyst, unharmed, 2 HP (the van has -1 TOU) in a badass John Woo pose Asad, unharmed, 1 HP, kind of in the middle of something Weaver, unharmed, 1 HP, enjoying the show but missing the popcorns Tiger truck Bound helplessly; 1 Feral Thug, unharmed, on the run 2 Feral goons on foot, unharmed but Bound and Helpless 3 Soldiers with Cover in the Bear truck, unharmed (truck has -1 tou), but Slowed due to feeling akin to dices in the cupped hands of a player. Also, the bad guys see the heroes as if they have Total Concealment.

Weaver was amazed by the very efficient way his two partners in crime-fighting disposed of the adversaries. The thugs, of both the machine-gun wielding and the furry and muscle-bound types, seemed subdued or very close to become so. He limited himself to a couple of movements with his hands, and a bunch of scarves flew away from his costume to wrap themselves around the villains’ eyes. The armed men in the truck screamed and shot some bullets which got lost in the sky, the bestial foam-entangled thugs growled and tried to chew at the fabric, without much success. Weaver landed beside Catalyst “Very impressive skills you have, my friend†he smiled at the hooded figure “and such an unusual way of fighting crime I’d say, even if certainly more orthodox than my own… So, mr Al-Misri seems to be having his fun," Weaver pointed at Asad "shall we go take care of the other truck?†asked offering her a lift on his carpet, hovering a feet above ground.
  3. Ok, I need Notice and Search checks by the three investigators before describing the shared mystical experience. Also, if before my answer you want to squeeze in a purely social post with your reactions to this somewhat unusual investigation technique, it may be fun. Otherwise tell me when you post yuor Notice and Search checks and I'll post.

Catalyst jumped off the van in a quick step, drew both her guns in the same motion and took aim: fierce in her pose, the sun slowly setting behind at her back, both arms stretched out in front of her as paintballs chock-full of foam hailed everywhere there were criminals on the highway. The attack lasted only moment, but a second later giant mounds of foam started growing from the tiny paintballs, getting once again the tiger truck stuck to the ground and engulfing the two feral thugs who had just jumped off in a ball of foam so thick they could barely scream. To no result they struggled against the nasty cloud that surrounded them. Asad, now filled with energy to the tip of his very fashionably styled hair, decided to take a bit of revenge on those who attacked him, and yanked the truck free from the foam, lifting it above his head. Worried screams emerged from the open windows of the truck, while the thugs tried to mantain balance in the lifted vehicle.
  6. the two trucks are Stuck again! here's the Ref saves for the two poor bastards who got out 1d20+3; 1d20+3 → [11,3] = (14) 1d20+3; 1d20+3 → [14,3] = (17) vs DC 25 they both fail by 5 or more so they are both Bound and Helpless
  7. EDIT: Asad deayed, so it's catalyst who is up... So, Aoiroo can roll her TOU save, then we start our next round; since this round it was snared, the truck will still take 2 rounds to get to the end of the bridge and into Hanover. Catalyst, unharmed, 2 HP (the van may be damaged) Asad, unharmed, 1 HP Weaver, unharmed, 1 HP Tiger truck running away, unharmed; 1 Feral Tug om board, unharmed 2 Feral goons on foot, unharmed 3 Soldiers with Cover in the Bear truck, unharmed (truck has -1 tou),
  8. no, sorry... Ultimate power, page 100
  9. Feral Thugs have strength of 14+8= 22, +6 bonus the two feral thugs will use the Aid action to free the truck (Strength check DC 10 staged) 1d20+6 → [9,6] = (15) beaten by 5, +2 to the truck's check 1d20+6 → [20,6] = (26)beaten by 16, +3 (+5 total) to the truck's check. The truck (Str 40, +15) will try to escape the Snare (DC 18 (+5 base, +3 from autofire)) given that it has a +20 bonus (+15 strength, +5 from the Aid), it can fail only with a 1 1d20 → [16] = (16) it is free. The three Soldier archetypes on the bear truck will shoot at the heroes. I'll roll the three dices together, the order Asad, Catalyst, Weaver 1d20+5; 1d20+5;1d20+5 → [13,5] = (18) 1d20+5; 1d20+5;1d20+5 → [10,5] = (15) 1d20+5; 1d20+5;1d20+5 → [16,5] = (21) I won't even check if Asad is hit, since he is bulletproof. Catalyst's Van is hit, and since the assault rifle of the Soldiers have a +5 damage bonus, her Impervious isn't enough to stop it. the Van has to do a Toughness check, DC 23 (15 base, +5 damage, +3 autofire) Weaver too is hit, and has to do a DC 21 Toughness check (15 base, +5 damage, +1 auofire) 1d20+11 → [17,11] = (28) uh, lucky! *** So, Aoiroo can roll her TOU save, then we start our next round; since this round it was snared, the truck will still take 2 rounds to get to the end of the bridge and into Hanover. Asad, unharmed, 1 HP Catalyst, unharmed, 2 HP (the van may be damaged) Weaver, unharmed, 1 HP Tiger truck running away, unharmed; 1 Feral Tug om board, unharmed 2 Feral goons on foot, unharmed 3 Soldiers with Cover in the Bear truck, unharmed (truck has -1 tou),

If the thugs were startled by the initial attack, they certainly didn’t show it. Two of them jumped out from the Tiger truck, more beasts than men, fur-covered muscles flexing through the wife-beaters, feral yellow gaze darting the scene of the showdown. They grabbed the rear of the truck and pushed as hard as they could, while the third thug pressed the gas pedal to free the truck from the foam. With a ripping sound the foam gave in and the truck jumped ahead, free, and started gaining speed to get to the end of the bridge, leaving his two former passenger on the street. A spray of bullets came from the irredeemably bound Bear truck: the driver was unconscious, but three other thugs, these time of the completely human variety but armed with dangerous M16 machine guns, targeted the three heroes. The bullets bounced off Asad’s chest (even if they tore open nasty holes in his expensive suit), but the van and Weaver weren’t so lucky… The bullets opened holes in the metallic plates of the van, and Catalyst hoped they didn't hit anything important. The magically-enhanced fabric of Weaver's costume absorbed the bullets, without endangering the hero.

Weaver witnessed the very well executed maneuvers of his two fellow superheroes, and swooshed down to do his part. Ok, if I blind them, these guys will go on a shooting spree and civilians could get hurt thought while putting his scarves and capes in motion let’s see if we can block some of these guys. Arug flew down on the scene, and Weaver closed his left hand as a fist. The fabric covering the driver’s seat ripped off and engulfed him, wrapping itself around his arms and throat. The enhanced Thug struggled, flexing his animalistic muscles, trying to rip off the fabric, but he soon succumbed to the constriction and fell unconscious. “One less sociopath with furry arms to worry about!†he exclamed smiling.
  12. Weaver's attack roll the Feral Thug's defense is 16 (10 base, +2 defense, +4 cover provided by the truck) 1d20+10 → [11,10] = (21) got him! Feral Thug's Reflex ST vs DC 20: 1d20+3 → [14,3] = (17) he is Entangled The Snare is Constricting, so he suffers a DC 20 (15 + 10/2) Toughness Save 1d20+6 → [12,6] = (18) he fails, he is Unconscious

As the paintballs sprayed the road, the driver of the tiger truck was nimble, almost avoiding the attacks, but still a rear wheel got caught in the foam and stuck to the asphalt; now the front wheels were turning furiously but uselessly, filling the air with a white smoke smelling foully like burned rubber. The bear truck driver wasn’t nearly as skilled and his vehicle came to a screeching halt as the rapidly expanding foam engulfed all four of his wheels, actually lifting the pickup a few inches from the ground. From the windows was possible to see the goons slamming their faces into the seats before them. On the already startled goons hailed the very fashionably dressed mass of Asad, slamming into the side of the truck. His blow heavily dented the vehicle door, shaking his occupants again, but more importantly filled up Asad with kinetic energy, just waiting to be released in a very dashing display of stylish justice.
  14. Ok, so no Ref save for the vehicles, I'm assuming one is entangled, the other is bound. as for Asad's attack, pickup's Toughness is +9 1d20+9 → [4,9] = (13) wow. That is bad. Failed by 7, the truck is "Injured" as in has sustained a bit of damage, but still works (-1 TOU).

    Something Fishy

Still squatting by the body, Lord Steam opened his bag of fine accessories to help him in the analysis of the corpse. The coroner beside him helped with the medical part. The Victorian detective’s carefully gloved hands danced on the pale skin, paying very much attention not to contaminate eventual evidence. He was puzzled, if not actually irritated, about the surprising cleanliness of the actual scene. The wound had been inflicted from the down up, at an 45 degree angle – unsurprisingly, since the Atlantean fared taller than 6’4’’. It had cut right through the ribs and scratched a lung before slashing open the heart. The breastplate was ceremonial, but still quite heavy, so piercing it was a feat of noteworthy strength. There were no signs of fight but a very minor one, a small bruise on the left cheekbone. The body seemed to not have been immersed in water for the last 24 hours, and his skin was starting to dry up before his murder. On the pale skin of the left wrist stood out a stamped ink mark half an inch wide, presumably picturing a harp – the same logo that appeared besides the words “Riverdance Cafè†on the nightclub insignia. Revenant tired quickly of the garbage-man’s rambling. It was becoming pretty clear that, even if he was trying to be helpful, his knowledge of anything about the case was close to zero. She bit her lip, thanked him politely and left him to the snarky cop for a written deposition.
  16. you are right, I meant Invenstigate on the corpse once in the lab. However I realize now that waiting for you to go to the lab and analyze might lead to a boring scene. So here's my compromise: Steamy is actually analyzing the body on the spot, or maybe in the coroner's truck, before they take him away. Since you're with a coroner, I'll include medical clues (like the already discovered time fo death).
  17. I'm really sorry, you'll have to describe that in other words 'cause I'm not familiar with American highway structure  Also, remeber they're on a bridge.
  18. you can most certainly conjure up said ritual, but beware of 2 things 1) you'll still have to Notice and Search the scene, while under the ritual effects, with normal DCs (15 for the basics, then additional info at 20, 25, etc...). 2) post-cognition as you describe I'd consider pretty much as basic post-cognition, no Limited flaw, so 4 pp instead of 2. If you want your companions to help in those checks, it is Postcognition (Extra: affect others), 8 pp. Actually, and I'm sorry if this wasn't trasparent enough in the IC post, the lack of evidence and the cleanliness of the wound are a bit astounding. Steam can certainly Investigate on the corpse, though.
  19. OK, as GM, I'm assuming that Asad and Weaver spent the first round arriving in the position described in the IC post. It's not really a GM fiat as much as a reasonable assumption. Tell me it you feel chated of your hero point  round 2 of 3 on the bridge begins, Asad's turn (if you need to move, you can consider Arug under your own control, we assume you tell me and I move him/it). After him we have Catalyst (and you can take actions even if you have a penalty, it's part of being a superhero... and there are no terrible consequences for failure in this situation). DCs are the same as above, lowered by 5. If you want to attempt something different, just ask.

"Good luck sneaking up on them with that 900,000 $ torpedo on wheels!" Weaver shouted back at the billionaire "And if I remember correctly, last week when Letterman asked you if you ever were in a situation as exciting and scary as your that thing at FCU, you answered "a couple of car accidents" and your grin wasn't very reassuring. And don't tell me it was the camera." He directed his thoughts to Arug and the carpet glided down above the chase, at the same level of the top-level railway. Weaver followed Asad's finger and noticed the van closing in besides the police cars while cruising like crazy in the traffic, avoiding arrogant and honking SUVs and scared sedans that were just trying to get away from the danger. "Indeed, that van is going way too fast for its own structure!" he commented "Then again, Arug was made to lay still under a table, so I guess I can't really judge."
  21. yes! thanks a lot for the fun!

Arug landed softly and Weaver stepped down with a graceful motion. Once he was certain that Mr Mist had been safely imprisoned by the fine AEGIS agents, he spent a few moments gathering all the flags and scarves he threw around during the short battle and returning them to their owners... well, what he remembered were the rightful owners. Getting back a scarve lost in a superhero battle would have been a nice ice-breaker for the many college students who were shopping around. He adressed the crowd to make sure nobody would quarrel about their stuff. "Ladies, gentleme! If one or more of your clothing accessories was, well... lifted from you during the battle, I apologize. Here on the stage you'll find everything in pristine state, if maybe a bit smelly because of the unhortodox attacks of that foul man." He smiled at Spitfire's showmanship, but he had to work hard to escape the crowd for the time necessary to text his wife and inform her that all was well.
  23. Initiative order Asad 26 Catalyst 17 Weaver 17 - 1d20+3 → [14,3] = (17) Goons on tiger truck 15 - 1d20+3 → [12,3] = (15) Goons on bear truck 11 - 1d20+1 → [10,1] = (11) INFO: the goons on bear truck are 3 Soldier archetype, except the driver who is a Thug enhanced with the Feral Package Template applied (Freedom City Campaign Setting, page 82). The goons on the Tiger truck are 3 Thugs with the Feral Package Template The street is the nameless bridge that connects 16th to Charleston. There are several other cars on the higway. It's a simple 2 level bridge, bottom level highway, top level train; At the current speed, we have 3 rounds on the bridge and then they get in the streets of Hanover. Catalyst, if you want to get on their side and shoot, it's a Drive check DC 10, you get on the other side safe but suffer a -8 to your standard action. DC 15, you get on the other side safe but suffer a -4 to your standard action. DC 20 you get on the other side and you can perform your standard action unhindered. if you spend another round in pursuit closing in, next round the DCs scale down by 5. indeed, though now I can't help but figuring Weaver as Murtaugh and Asad as Riggs in a buddy cop chase scene. Feel free to write the first post for the odd couple.

    Something Fishy

The trio of heroes, along with Detective Beck and Dr Aguirre, the medical examiner, got to the screening of the crime scene. Leviathan's arcane exam of the scene fell sadly flat: no clumsily erased pentacles, nor runes, no components of any rituals he knew. Around the corpse there was just dirt, cigarette butts, and stench of spilled drinks and blood. It seemed as if the death was caused only by good old fashioned violence. Little more he gathered from looking at the victim's physiology: he definitely was a young Atlantean, approximately 20-24 years old; judging by the physique and jawline, as well as the hairstyle, he was from a fairly important noble family, maybe even the heir to one of the warlords who advised the royal family. Lord Steam, with detective Beck adoringly listening to his observations and occasionally helping, fared just a little better: there was no sign of blood splatter, just the modest pool under the body; the stab wound, at a first sight, looked amazingly clean, and cut through breastplate, skin and internal organs like a knife through butter. Steam never had seen such a neat and perfect cut. It was a bit tricky determinig the time fo death given the weird lividity assumed by the species, but between Dr Aguirre and the investigators, it was set aroun 3:00 AM of that night. Meanwhile, the garbageman was a bit amazed at the fact that a lady such as Revenant was talking with him after half an hour of a coffee-stinking officer. That didn't help with the coerence of his answers. "Sure thing, mada... mila... lady madam!" he cleaned his hands on his equally dirty pants "I-I was doin' the usual round, y'know, a-and I got here around, uh, dunno maybe six ten...ish... and that poor bastard - pardon my language, lady m'am" he was starting to sweat "that poor fella was just lying there. I've seen bad things out of these clubs for the youngsters, but this... I'm sure the owners have a bunch of tales to scare a troop of campers, ifyaknowwhatImean." "I'm pretty sure nobody knows what you mean..." snarked in a whisper the officer who was taking notes beside them.
  25. OOC for this one! Catalyst, Asad and Weaver vs Madame Marvelous! the introduction is just for Catalyst, but what she hears, likely Asad hears too.
