  1. Just wanted to throw this up here. Initiative for Blitz: 1d20+19=32 Initiative for Criminals: 1d20+2=17 Initiative for Thugs: 1d20+1=20) Builds for Criminals (pg 226) and Thugs (pg 229) from the CoreBook. I think we should just run our own targets for this fight, is that cool with you LS.
  2. Blitz cracked his neck. This was going to be his first time Henry would see another super hero fight up close. 'Should be interesting given this guys interesting powers.' "You should go first so I know how fast to go." He pointed back down the street towards the direction Blitz had come from, "That way, towards the airport. The gang activity gets thicker down that way." Blitz sparked a little as he set his feet and got ready to chase this crazy squid-kid.
  3. Blitz shrugged at the second question as he gave his response, "He seemed pretty on the level to me. I mean... the magic-hell-fire was a bit creepy... and he did have a squid for a face... aaaaaannnd demonic wings on his back were kinda off-putting... but we stood around and talked about putting the fear into the local baddies for a good while. I'm pretty sure that he's ok." He smiled a bit as he remembered the fact about Lovecraft that he dug up after the encounter he had with Kid Cthulhu. Cthulhu had in fact been an elder evil god in the crazy mythos that that Lovecraft guy wrote about. Nearest Blitz could figure out, Kid had gone and done some fake as hell ritual and accidentally summoned said ancient evil god who then cursed the tar outta him. He looked past her as he half smiled at his own thoughts, not really thinking about how his pose would surely imply to the lady sitting next to him before he asked, "So, Grimalkin with the Interceptors, since you brought up the subject of powers, what are yours like? I'd give you a show of my own, but I'm a bit low on power right now."
  4. Blitz listened to the story that Kid Cthulhu told him with a look of increasing horror on his face. By the end he was leaning forward slightly and a look of disbelieving disgust was plastered on his face. He watched, frozen in this pose, as Kid Cthulhu laughed for way too long. Henry gave himself a physical shake trying to shake off the memory of that terrible story. Blitz was slightly surprised by the sudden implied invite to go see a movie. There was no doubt that Blitz wouldn't have minded going to see a movie, he was honestly really bored tonight as it was pretty quiet. However, Henry didn't have any cash on him, his wallet being back in his pants stashed close to home, and then there was the problem of concealing his identity from Kid Cthulhu past changing into his street clothes to get into the movie in the first place. It just wasn't worth the hassle or the risk. "Nah," Blitz said, "No cash on me and I've gotta keep a look out on the streets anyway." An idea occurred to him at that moment, "Unless you wanted to come along with me on my beat to see if we can scare up a little action?" Blitz wasn't sure if he actually could find some gang members or other criminal activity to make the night less boring, but he could always try. "Wha'd'ya say? You game?"
  5. Blitz was a bit perplexed by everything that happened all at once. The red and gold armored heroine flew in and announced that she was there to help. Then a huge portal opened up in the sky with gold light pouring out of it and another red and gold armored lady super floated out and addressed the other. THEN another guy appeared out of thin air looking like he'd just walked out of a horror movie blood-bath. The guy with the guitar then entered the conversation taking place 50' over his head. Blitz cocked his eyebrow up over his goggles but remained still. These guys seemed to all be heroes and they seemed like they were going to be working together already. Really not knowing what to do or say, Blitz called up to the floating gathering, in a slightly sarcastic voice, "If you need my help, just let me know. Anything at all."
  6. The streets were dark, all the power gone from the grid. There was the sounds of explosions in the distance but the immediate area was quiet. Not a single voice cried out to anyone or anything as the station sat dark. Blitz came to a sudden stop and the dirt he had kicked up in running drifted around his feet and his hair fluttered around his face for a second. He looked up at the tall cooling towers of the nuke plant that had so quietly provided the city with power for his whole life. Blitz looked around and didn't even know where to begin his activities. Having foolishly thought that there was something wrong with the power plant he had run over here as fast as he could so he could to try and put a stop to it. But, now that he was here, he didn't have a clue how to get this freakin' plant working again. Just as Blitz was about to head on into the plant, he heard a strange noise coming from above the plant. His head snapped up to look at the new arrival. A figure looking like they had a... a guitar with them. He heard the figure speak loudly, too loudly, requesting help from an approaching flying individual dressed in what looked like red and gold suit of power armor. This was getting to be a crowded party real fast. Blitz thought it best to go up and do introductions or at least just offer his help before too much else happened to confuse things even more. Spark-FWOOM! Blitz was up at the top of the power plants cooling towers and standing on the edge of the giant concrete structure in the blink of an eye. He then yelled up at the floating guitar-guy, "Hey! Down here!" Blitz waved just to make himself highly visible, "You here to get this thing up and running?"

  8. Henry felt his heart lurch at the mention of "Donner" from this strange man. 'Calm down!' Henry commanded himself, 'He doesn't know you or anything about your family. Just a joke based on the reindeer names. You're still safe.' But Blitz wasn't sure. He was never sure about anything recently, and this guy just happening to guess his real last name was a bit more than he was prepared to chalk up to "coincidence". The teen hero calmed down, a little at least, as Kid Cthulhu explained his situation, vaguely, and felt a little jolt of excitement when the squid-bat-man said that his powers were actually extra-dimensional in origin. 'Never actually thought that was true, but hey! I'll take my success where it can be had!' "There was an incident at my school with a local gang. Needless to say they came in with weapons I don't think they fully understood and started tearing up the place. I got caught in the crossfire and what you see is what I got." Blitz sparked briefly before he ran straight up the wall of one of the buildings to the side of the street. He stood up there for a moment before he returned to the street. He shrugged a little before continuing, "It's not mystic fire magic of sparkly doom, but I think it does OK for what I'm up to currently."
  9. Blitz smiled and nodded as he took Grimalkin's hand. "Nice to meet you Grimalkin with the Interceptors. I'm Blitz." His handshake was firm but didn't hold the power that this lithe woman's did. Henry wondered just how long she'd been a hero, but thought that he'd get in trouble if he asked. 'It might be like asking an woman of 30+ what her age is.' Blitz took his hand back and leaned back to look up into the sky once again. He didn't know exactly what else to say. He supposed they could just sit in silence, but that seemed like it wasn't the right thing to do. A troubling notion came to mind, 'What if Grimalkin wasn't a super hero at all? What if she was a super villain?' It was entirely possible. But then another question came to mind, 'Why do you always think that other super-powered beings are potentially villains the instant you meet them?' Once again, the answer was obvious: people were more likely to use their powers for ill than for good. Then again, that was a bleak outlook. As he was debating with himself, Henry became suddenly aware of the fact that he had sat there debating for far too long! 'Say anything you moron!' He was being a little awkward again and he hated it when he did that... but what did you chit-chat about with heroes anyway? The logical answer, as he saw it, was "other super heroes". "Do, uh... Do you know Kid Cthulhu?" He asked slightly awkwardly, "I just met the guy the other day, and he seems alright for a squid-man-bat." Blitz didn't move from his resting position as he asked, but a few beads of sweat trickled down his face to his hairline even though the night was cool and pleasant.
  10. Blitz's head snapped down to see who had spoken. It was a floating head wearing a domino mask. Henry closed his eyes and shook his head. He was obviously seeing things. Heads didn't just float without bodies. It just didn't happen. When he opened his eyes he saw a shapely young woman dressed in a tight black and blue outfit. She sat down right next to him, crossed her legs, and shaded her eyes while commenting on the quality of the view of the night sky. He was very confused, but Blitz wasn't one for showing it. He leaned his head back and feigning a calm attitude, he responded, "Sure is." Feeling like that wasn't really enough, Blitz pressed on, "Been pretty quiet tonight as well, except for the party you can barely hear over there in the dorms. Aside from that it's peaceful." Blitz wanted to be ready for anything. He wanted to be on that hair trigger that would make him fly off this bench and into the next zip code in less than 10 seconds. He wanted to be. But he was still running on empty. This woman might be here to take him down once and for all. But there wasn't anything he could do about it. 'Might as well make the best of a bad situation then.' "So what's your name?" The question was thrown out there with a casual tone, just two people sharing a bench in the middle of the night on the campus. Henry was a nervous wreck.
  11. Henry let of a small discharge of energy, just enough to crackle the air and make him spark a little, nothing dangerous, just enough to be noticeable, "Blitz," said the teen hero. "I'm the local protection from the petty crime and some of the gang activity that I catch in progress." Blitz smiled toothily, "I like to think that I got it pretty much under control." The implication was that he obviously didn't have it under control since he was running the streets at this hour of the night. Henry was interested in Kid Cthulhu at this point. Despite his grotesque appearance, the squid-man actually seemed like he wasn't that much older than Henry was himself. Henry really felt liberated when he was in his suit, it made him feel like he could say anything and get away with it. Not that he really thought Kid Cthulhu was gonna be angry with him for his comment, but if he was just in street clothes he probably wouldn't be having this conversation at all. So, feeling like he could ask anything of this strange person(?) in front of him, Blitz asked, "If you don't mind my asking, what's your story? I mean, I'm assuming alien or extra-dimensional or horrible middle-school science fair project gone horribly wrong, but I feel like the actual answer has gotta be more interesting than that."
  12. 'You must be crazy to think you can stop here and just sit on a park bench while you wait for your batteries to recharge.' Henry was berating himself because he had allowed himself to run out of power. He could simply pop open one of the streetlamps and suck some juice from the city. However, vandalism was something that he was trying to stop in this run down part of the city and Henry wouldn't forgive himself if he just started trashing the college campus like some common thug. So he decided to take a breather and let his body do it's thing. He'd be able to move at top speed soon enough. 'Soon enough?!' His mind scoffed at him as he thought the words. 'You'll be lucky to get back home in time for a shower before you have to go to school!' It might have been true... but he was making a conscious effort at this point to stop this punishment and just wait it out. It really was a struggle to do. He threw his arms over the back of the bench and stretched out his legs so his feet only touched the pavement by the heels. He leaned his head back and exhaled sharply, his purple goggles sliding deeper into his eye sockets. "Whatever..."
  13. As the trashcan burst into sparkly green flames, Blitz jumped a little. It was startling to see a trashcan suddenly explode in flames of any type, but the fact that it was at the command of Kid C was really quite incredible. "Nice trick," Said Blitz, trying to cover up his moment of panic, "A little overdramatic for my taste but I guess it gets the job done when you need it to." Blitz had loosened up by this point and had let his hands drop down to his waist where he hooked his thumbs into his belt. He was getting comfortable around this strange person, which surprised Henry a bit. 'Then again,' the speeding teen thought, 'You gotta take your allies as they come in this town.' Just then, Blitz remembered something Kid Cthulhu had said only moments before he had made his 'hobo's dream fire.' "By the way, if you don't normally hang out on this side of town, as you say, why did you decide to come beat-the-street over here tonight?" It was an innocent question, but Blitz still wasn't completely satisfied with Kid Cthulhu's "I just happened to be in the area" response from before.

  15. Blitz's eyebrow appeared above his purple goggles at the question posed to him. No, he wasn't a supervillain. The fact that squid-bat-man had to ask was probably a sign that he was, like Blitz, a hero. "Super, yes; Villain, no." Blitz replied. Taking a closer look at this guy, Henry had the strange feeling that he had seen something similar before. He thought there was a particular author or artist who had inspired or created this kind of image before... Heartcraft? Feelcraft? Something-"craft" for sure but Henry couldn't put it together right then. "Kid Cthulhu, huh? Odd name for an odd guy." He looked the squid-bat-man up and down, taking inventory on what he saw before he actually continued. "I take it from your response that you are likewise no villain in Freedom, huh?" Henry didn't move, he felt reasonably sure that he would be OK if he had to get away from this "Kid Cthulhu" but he didn't think he'd need to. This guy seemed to be pretty harmless given his demeanor. You could never really tell until you threw down, but Kid C seemed like he didn't really have to lie. 'Why would you need to if you were willing to walk around with a face like?'
  16. Henry hadn't seen much action tonight. The streets had been quiet except for a single purse snatching which had been a cinch to take care of. So here he was running down a random street, checking on the storefronts to make sure there weren't any break ins in progress as he went. Needles to say, he was a bit surprised to see what looked like a Squid-Bat-Man in a cape walking down the street without a care in the world. Blitz had enough experience to know that what looked slow when he moved was actually moving at regular speed. To this strange figure in the street, he likely looked like a blur of black and purple kicking up a trail of street debris. However, just because this... guy? - was wearing a cape and had on a costume didn't mean that he was a friend of Henry's at all. He could have been a new badguy come in to Southside to claim a bit of turf for himself. 'Looking at this guy, he looks like he could claim a good bit of turf as well just from sheer "scare-factor".' Still, it was best not to go into a situation as ambiguous as this with the wrong kind of attitude. Appearances could be deceiving after all. Henry decided that he wouldn't throw the first punch (unless the Squid-Bat-Man decided to make a run for it). Henry came to a halt and the world began to run at normal speed again. Completely opposite his demeanor as Henry Donner, Blitz folded his arms in front of his chest as the wind swept up from behind him, making his hair flutter a bit, and said, "Hey! Squid-Bat! Mind telling me what you're up to in my part of town?"
  17. Is it too late for Blitz to get in on the action here? If he can still play I'm thinking that Objective 4 seems like it's a good bet for him. Let me know what the verdict is. And thanks.
  18. I just realized there was a slight error in my Alternate Attack powers in Blitz's build. Both Rapid Attack and Static Discharge should be dropped to Rank 5 (in accordance with his lowered damage caps). Thanks Refs, Carbon DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN
  19. Fixed the Knockback and Initiative notation issues. Fixed the Toughness save mix up (it was left over from an earlier iteration of the sheet that i hadn't fixed yet). You were right, I had forgotten to include the Dodge Focus ranks. I also moved my Improved Initiative down to be included in the character's powers to better reflect the fact that he's been gifted the ability through his accident rather than through natural ability. I also fixed the point totals according to the shifted feat/power. I always thought that Alternate Powers were always assigned points based on the total cost of a power. Since the powers are linked I would think that the total points of both powers would be included in deciding how many points were available for use in the alternate powers. Since that is my assumption all of my ranks are based on the total points of both powers (12 pp). (Hope that didn't sound overly lawyer-y, just wanted to make it clear what I was thinking when I built the powers). I also think I fixed the power format issues based on the description you gave me. However, I would like to mention that this is a set of instructions counter to the ones that are included in the character creation template included on the webpage. Just a suggestion, but perhaps we should consider an update to the template to prevent further confusion. I'm pretty sure that's everything you asked me to do... let me know if there's anything else.
  20. Characters Name: Blitz Power Level: 7 (107/109PP) Trade-Offs: +2 Attack for -2 Damage, +3 Defense for -3 Toughness Unspent PP: 2 Gold Status: 4/30 Alternate Identity: Henry Donner Age: 18 (born Month [day optional] Year; Apparent Age ??) Gender: Male Height: 5’ 8†Weight: 145 lbs Eyes: light brown Hair: longish, dirty blond Description: *Color version to come soon **Costume color scheme is Black with Purple trim. Shades / Speed Goggles are also Purple. History: Henry’s family was not particularly well off when it came to money, so the family lived in the cheap housing just alongside the airport in Southside. This put his family in a slightly better part of Southside than they might have ended up in, but it also meant that Henry’s parents were under a great deal of financial strain. They endured and were able to make ends meet, but Henry had to grow up with less than most of his neighbors and classmates which made him an easy and reliable target for bullying and being picked on. Henry wasn’t very strong in his youth, so to avoid being beaten up, he learned to run. By the time he and his classmates left middle school for high, he was an expert runner. This gave him a bad reputation as a wimp, but Henry was much happier to not get the crap beaten out of him and bear a bad reputation rather than… well getting the crap beaten out of him. Upon getting to high school, Henry decided to try out for sports. He had always wanted to be part of the teams but his parents had never been able to afford to provide transportation to and from practice. With his parents’ financial limitations he had never had the chance to get involved in school sports. However, upon reaching high school, sports started immediately after classes so Henry wouldn’t need a ride to practice and he convinced his parents to let him have his own bus pass so they wouldn’t have to drive him home from practice either. The parental units decided that the expense wasn’t too great for them to deprive their son of his wish any longer; so Henry got to do sports for his high school. Wanting to play as much as he could, Henry tried out for soccer, track, and tennis in his freshman year and made the soccer and track teams. He was soon a star athlete on both of these teams. One of the fastest runners in the school Henry made an incredible striker and was, without a doubt, one of the most crucial members of the track team. The school’s football coach found out about the “Donner kid†and was amazed by Henry’s speed and agility; Coach Zimmer immediately wanted Henry for the football team. Henry was able to work his schedule so that he could be in both soccer and football his freshman through junior year, but had to drop soccer his senior year because the practice and game schedules were in conflict. Henry was on top of the world when his senior year came around. He was a star on the football team and the track team, his parents were finally letting him live his life without fearing terribly for his safety, and he was even pretty sure that there was a girl who liked him. Molly Singer was a pretty girl who played in the marching band. Henry had first met her at a game their freshman year and they had become friends pretty quickly. They both liked the activities they were in, had reasonably similar grades in school and they lived pretty close to each other and had similar life experiences growing up. It was almost like they were the same person… just… one of them was a girl. The two got along and over the years in school had become very close friends. When senior year rolled around the rumor was that Molly and Henry were dating. The fact that neither of them denied it didn’t help to quell the rumor. It was never official, but the two of them both thought that they were essentially spoken for. Things were finally going Henry’s way in life… Until about a month after school started a tragic event occurred in Henry’s school. A group of Brotherhood gang members entered the school and began shooting up the place as well as detonating several explosive devices that expelled some strange gas into the air. Henry was caught in the crossfire and received a gunshot wound to the leg and was told later that he had been hit by one of the explosives and that the electrical system had shorted out and arced directly to him. Fortunately for him, Henry didn’t remember any of this; the doctors supposed that the electric shock could have induced a slight amount of amnesia, but that it was more likely he was simply knocked unconscious by the explosion. Henry was able to attend the remembrance service, 10 people had been injured and 3 had been killed in the attack on his school. It was not long after this that Henry began to notice that he was able to move faster than normal. Not just the subtle increase you got from lots of running and lifting weights either, but really getting noticeably faster. Curious to find out exactly how much faster he was, Henry decided to time himself on a run to school from his house. He was normally able to get to his school, 25 blocks away, in 7 minutes which was respectable in his mind. This time he made it to school in 3. It was improbable. Nobody could run that fast except for superheroes… and they could usually run faster than that. Henry decided to put it to the test. He stepped off the street into the alley beside the school and then focused the way he did for track meets. He counted down, and ran. It was incredible. The world seemed to slow down around him, the buildings and streetlamps blurred with the speed and he was able to get back to his house in 10 seconds. The world came speeding up to normal speeds as Henry stopped at his doorstep. Needless to say, he did not attend school that day. Testing out his new power of speed, Henry soon found out that he could only use them for 5 hours at a time before he had to take a break for the rest for a while. However, Henry was now presented with an ethical dilemma: what to do with these powers? He knew that he could improve the living condition of his parents with these powers; it would be all too easy to simply run into a bank just as they were opening the vault and take everything he could possibly want for his family to live comfortably for the rest of his life. While he entertained this idea for about a millisecond (it was apparently not only his physical speed which had increased dramatically) he couldn’t bring himself to think that it was a good idea in the slightest. His mind kept wandering back to the school shooting of less than a month prior. Henry decided there and then, while sitting on a rooftop in Midtown looking out over Liberty Park, that he would shut down The Brotherhood if it was the last thing he did. Henry made a costume (it’s just what you did when you got into the vigilante business in Freedom City) and began his crusade against the gangs in and around Southside, but specifically The Brotherhood. Personality & Motivation: Henry is a bit shy from having been picked on in his youth, but he’s opened up a bit since having become a hero on his school’s athletic teams. After a horrific attack on his school by The Brotherhood, Henry was granted electrically induced speed powers that he has decided to use against gang activity in his quarter of town. He’s also got a bit of a pension towards intolerance of the intolerant, so people committing hate crimes are likely to have to deal with his interference. Powers & Tactics: Electro-speedster. Henry puts a very high focus on staying mobile in combat since he’s not very durable in straight combat. Move-by action keeps Blitz out of harms way for the most part and his electric and sonic burst powers (usually) help him take down bigger groups of mooks. If he finds himself trapped by his foes, Blitz is able to use his improved overrun feat or his improved trip + rapid attack combo to escape. If he still can’t get away then the young hero tends to rely on his improved defense and assessment feats to try and get out of the situation with his head still on his shoulders. Complications: Struggling: Henry's parents can usually get all your monthly bills paid, if they don't have to pay to have something repaired or replaced... but most months, they do have to pay for something to be repaired or replaced. Secret Identity: Henry is currently still keeping his identity as a superhero a secret to protect his parents and to keep his social standing in tact (he doesn’t want any fame/stigma that might come along with being a hero). School Obligations: Attending class, football practice/games, and studying. Love Interest: Molly Singer (plays in the marching band at school) In Brief: Henry is a slightly socially awkward high school football player who is struggling with his new identity as a superhero figure in the downtown section of Freedom City.
