  1. Not sure if this is the place for this topic, but I'm going on a small hiatus for about a week and a half at this point. I'm moving off campus this week, going on vacation next week, and then moving to my permanent residence the week after that when I'll be back and able to play seriously again. In the interim I'm not sure what to do with my active threads... I guess just assume that Blitz runs around and does nothing useful or that his actions are not important enough to note? I'm not sure. Let me know what's to become of Blitz so I can have some peace of mind whenever you guys get time. Thanks, Carbon NOTE: Thanks to the Ref who moved this entry. :D
  2. Henry and the Singer family made it into the restaurant without much trouble. They were seated by the Host at a table that was definitely not "the best in the house" but would still do for the small party of South-Siders. Henry could barely control how he stared openly at everything in the restaurant. From the huge spread of knives, forks, and spoons in front of him, to the waiters all dressed exactly the same (right down to their hairdo), to the elegant furniture and art being used to decorate the place. It was all fantastically... decadent. The band was excellent as well. Starting out with a heavily guitar tune that Henry didn't remember hearing before that night, but was still a very good tune none-the-less. Henry found himself swaying slightly and bobbing his head just a bit as song progressed and he did that small-talk thing with the Elder Singers and Molly. They mostly talked about how nice the restaurant was, how "fancy" it seemed, how "expensive" it looked. Then the band started up with The Piano Man and Henry looked up at the band playing. He nodded along again. He was glad that the band was good. He was afraid that it was going to be a band playing nothing but classical music, like a strings ensemble or something similar, but these guys were really good!
  3. Blitz heard the sound of cracking pavement and he turned to see what made the noise. Adrenaline coursing through his veins caused him to spin quickly, eliciting a spark of electricity from his body. He saw a tall guy with goggles, a brown coat, heavy boots, and... and a sword at his side. Blitz cocked his eyebrow at the man as he kicked a bit of scrap metal. "Hey!" Blitz called out, "Who're you?"
  4. Blitz watched as the last few 'bots exploded further down the bridge. His whole body slumped as fight ended. He was tired from the encounter but, while his job here was done, he still wanted to do one more thing before leaving the bridge. Blitz ran to the scene of devastation and the heroes behind it. He came to a grinding halt and looked at Rift flying over the scene. "Hey! Do you think that's it?"
  5. It's a refreshing approach and I appreciate it in times like this.
  6. Time seemed to crawl by as Blitz raced along the newly supported bridge towards the horde of BugBots. As Blitz approached the bots, there was a massive electrical discharge that slowly engulfed the 'bots. Blitz considered this discharge and wondered if he could do something similar given the electric nature of his power. He ran headlong into the 'bots and started pulling the important circuits, servos, and wires out of the BugBots as he dashed next to, under, and over them. His already scratched fingers and hands were nigh raw by the time he was done with the bots this time. Blitz backpedaled away from the swarm of 'bots... except that swarm wasn't quite the right word anymore. With the huge electrical discharge having downed a great sum of them, and Blitz having dismantled a good deal of the ones that were left functioning after that there were really only a few left standing... 'Three to be exact.' Blitz came to an abrupt stop at the end of the bridge just before the street proper began on dry land. There he waited, hoping to stop the BugBots; if the few remaining somehow managed to make it this far that was.
  7. >.> <.< I had completely forgotten about all of those things actually. BUT YES(!) thank you for assuming that I did all of those things in order to actually make good use of my turn.
  8. Blitz World Domination through Recycling Meltdown Opening Night at Le Exotique Fast-Food Calamari 2 posts this month
  9. I wish I had something better to do in this situation, but with 'bots having no ears to dazzle and no nervous system to fry, I'm gonna have Blitz rapid attack an area of 'bots again. Rapid Attack against the BugBots (1d20+9=10). guh... freakin' nat 1! I (obviously) don't think that hits, but I'll wait for Shaen to say one way or the other before I make my post. Move-By Action to keep going past the 'bots, but he's gonna stay close to the end of the bridge as a "first line of defense".
  10. OH YEAH! I had totally forgotten about that... Well, here's hoping you get that Hero Point for single-handedly resolving the possible riot outside the soon-to-be-famous restaurant, OP. lol
  11. I thought we started each thread with "default" hero points unless we had an excess of them at the time of start?

When would this thread be taking place on the timeline? I'll have Blitz in it one way or the other. Not as a protester, but really just there for "Crowd Control" should the need arise. But, if the thread takes place after June, then I can get Cicada-Man in on the action as well, as a Protester though. Cicada doesn't like it when people are put under the pressure of the Government, and that includes kids who are being pressured into joining the military. Just throwing out my support for the thread. EDIT: I'll use Blitz if the thread happens before June, but Cicada if it's after June rather than the plan detailed above.
  13. Henry watched the scene, wondering what in the world was happening as he and the Singer's approached the restaurant. There had been a large man who had almost incited a riot but then, a man conjured some kind of glowing blueish instrument, 'It looks like a pimped out xylophone,' and began to play Coldplay's "Clocks." The crowds attention was immediately grabbed and they seemed to all be saying the same words, "Ooo, it's Sparksmith!" Henry had never seen Sparksmith in person, but living in Freedom it was hard to not know the names of the heroes around town. ’… Well… the ones that made themselves public that was. There are always the ones that slip under the radar.’ Blitz’s thoughts slipped to the time when he had met Kid Cthulhu and later Grimalkin. Blitz shook his head slightly at the thought and brought himself back to Henry. It was just then that a man appeared in the doorway. And with that people began working their way into the restaurant. Henry looked over to Molly and offered his arm to her, â€Shall we?†Looping her arm through his and smiling at him, she said, “Let’s.†Henry then gestured with his free arm and said, â€After you Mr. and Mrs. Singer.†They smiled at each other and walked ahead of the two teens. Mr. Singer gave Henry a conspiratory wink as he walked by and the kid smiled after the man. He then proceeded to walk into the restaurant.
  14. As discussed in Chat: I think that's the basics of what the Ref's said and what I had to say about it.
  15. The following were changed in accordance with Shaen's comments and my own thoughts on Cicada's build: Skills: [*:3ft4e6zv]Dropped Concentration since Cicada-Man no longer has any powers involving concentration. [*:3ft4e6zv]Added 1 rank to Profession (stringed instrument) to round out the ranks to require a flat 16pp Feats: [*:3ft4e6zv]Dropped Improved Initiative (cost reasons) Powers: [*:3ft4e6zv]Made the Area Damage power a straight Ranged Damage power [*:3ft4e6zv]Changed the duration on the Stun power so that it is no longer sustained Now he only costs 150pp (legal) and no longer has the problematic sustained duration stun power. Also, his damaging powers aren't all wrapped up in area and unarmed combat. Look better now Shaen?
  16. I'll fix the cost issues later on today (I'll probably drop a skills down and lose a feat or two) Affects Insubstantial only being at half effective is fine, it's just sound afterall and even if I tongue-wag-science to say I can hit an insubstantial target, I think that "full effectiveness" might be a bit excessive. The way I'm justifying the concentration duration on the stun is because I see it as being a bit more strenuous than the dazzle. It's not hard to make a noise so loud that you can't hear anything else, some dude with a loud soundsystem can do that. However, the concentration power is a stun effect isn't making them deaf, it's debilitating their ability to move and act because the sound is so awful and loud. It only makes sense that it would be harder to maintain. ---However as I write this down it occurs to me that since I'm spending a standard action to do the effect for more than one turn I could just drop down the duration and it would basically be like just using the power each turn... I'll probably do that just for the sake of making it less problematic. I'll discuss his attacks in chat, since that's just easier. The fluff: cool
  17. Henry couldn't believe his luck as he rode along in the back seat of the Singer's sedan. He looked over at Molly and smiled at her in his quiet way letting her know that he appreciated what her parents were doing. She smiled back at him and squeezed his hand slightly as it lay between them. Henry looked back out the window as Mr. Singer parked the car and remembered the scene that had led to this moment. As it turned out, a suit and tie was the required dress for an occasion like this and he had been able to accommodate with his "Sunday best," so to speak, a black jacket, slacks, and a blue shirt with a blue and black striped tie. The Singer family, Mr. and Mrs. Singer and Molly, and Henry got out of the car and started to walk the block to the restaurant. As they got closer though they heard a commotion coming from the large group, presumably the guests for the opening, but especially from a big man standing on a ledge. Henry was concerned about this. It looked way too much like an angry mob in the making for his taste.
  18. Curses! Now I've made an ass out of myself. >.> <.< Stalks off, angrily, to post his arrival
  19. Are the guests being let in yet? Faust's post suggests that he's inside already but Quote just set up a situation where it sounds like the guests are not being allowed in. Needless to say I'm confused. I really just wanted to clear this up so that I knew how to end Blitz's arrival post.
  20. Characters Name: Cicada-Man Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: -5 Defense / +5 Toughness Unspent PP: 0 Gold Status: 0/30 Alternate Identity: Carlan Moore Age: 32 (born August 1978; Appears to be early 30’s) Gender: Male Height: 5’2†Weight: 130 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Red-Orange In Brief: A good natured and straightforward man. The only thing that can really drive him to anger or true rage is true tyrannical behavior. Description: History: Carlan Moore grew up loving music in his home town of Chicago. By the age of 13 he had already learned to play the saxophone, drums, violin, and cello. While he liked playing these instruments his true calling was to vocals. Carlan loved to sing. Problem was he sucked at it. Carlan was absolutely terrible at singing unable to sing a single note in tune for his life. But that was only until he was 15 when his powers manifested. During his 15th year of life, Carlan Moore began to notice things about himself that had changed since the year before. His skin was flakey, his continually felt tremendous pain in his sides, and his back had one of the worst cases of acne his local doctor had ever seen. But this dark, dark cloud had one extremely thin silver lining; Carlan’s voice became golden and pure. He was able to hit notes that nobody in Chicago thought of reaching and his tone was beautiful and entrancing. He also found out that he is a mutant. The voice, the sides, the backne, the flakey skin, all of it was a simple manifestation of his genetic code asserting it’s dominance over every other function in Carlan’s body. He had his first molt on the 16th of June in the year of 1994. At that time he was covered in thick chitinus plating, grew antennae, compound eyes, a set of wings and an extra pair of arms. Needless to say Carlan was freaked out. His parents were likewise freaked out. They couldn’t believe that this monster was their little boy! The awful noise it was making wasn’t helping them to believe a word of what it might have been saying… mostly due to their inability to hear anything it might have been saying to them. Carlan fled his home. His body eventually reverted back to his normal form. He also eventually learned how to control the transformation and the screeching noise it was able to make. The powers that he had gained had to be used for something, Carlan knew that. He just didn’t know what. The obvious answer was become a super hero. It’s what people did when they had super powers. There really wasn’t much of a choice in Carlan’s mind. So he began to live a double life, one as the ordinary guy Carlan Moore; aspiring musician and singer. The other was the super hero Cicada-Man; defender of the weak and crusher of the tyrannical. By 2010 Carlan had grown into a semi-successful vocalist and bass player for his metal band, Substantially Hollow. The band has been relatively underground, but highly successful, until one of their concerts was attended by one of the scouts for Vibration a Freedom City recording agency. His band was approached and, after a brief talk about their direction and future prospects, signed on as a new band for the company. This has caused Carlan to move from his home town in Illinois to Freedom City. He then set about making a new name for himself as Cicada-Man in the super-heavy city. Personality & Motivation: Carlan Moore is a pretty upstanding guy. He likes his fans and has come to believe that there is a lot of good in most people because of them. He figures that if a group of people so “violent and angry†as metal-heads can all get along and have a good time in relative peace (in the vaguest sense of the word) then what’s to stop most “normal†people from doing the same? He’s not so diluted by optimism as to think that there are no bad people, past experience has taught him that that is simply not the case. However he needs to see a lot of bad come out of a person before he will qualify that person as a “bad peopleâ€. His general optimism shows through in his personality as he is usually jovial and good natured. He’s not exactly a humorous person though; he’s just a “nice guyâ€. Carlan was mostly, but not completely, driven to a sub-life of crime fighting because of his desire to protect the many and the weak from the few and the powerful (not necessarily having to qualify as both conditions). Tyranny and Dictatorship are a few of the things that Carlan has the least tolerance for and he will do everything in his power to eliminate the condition beset on others. Powers & Tactics: When describing his fighting tactics as a super hero, one would definitely exclude the words ‘subtle,’ ‘finesse,’ and ‘tactical.’ Cicada-Man really doesn’t see a lot of difference between a super hero brawl and a mosh pit. As such, he tends to take huge sweeping blows and takes unnecessary risks when in combat. The way he sees it, if he’s not exhausted by the end of a fight, he hasn’t been doing it right. General Game Plan: Fly in, begin making noise to disorient and irritate the enemy, start punching, do not stop punching until enemy is on the ground or Carlan is. Complications: Hatred: Cicada-Man/Carlan has a hatred for tyranny. In fact he will go to extreme lengths to right this “deplorable wrongâ€. Carlan/Cicada-Man has brutally beaten those who he sees committing tyranny, and he has a very negative reputation for doing so. However, Carlan requires definitive proof of the tyrannical behavior, otherwise his naivety takes precedence. Naïve: Cicada-Man is naïve in his beliefs and trust in the goodness of people. If an appeal is made to him by a person he is in conflict with appealing to this sense of “goodness in peopleâ€, he is will almost always give them the benefit of the doubt and take their word as truth. 21. I think Durf has the right of it on this particular occasion. lol
  22. Actually, And, as I found out, this is a Spatha. Now, they are very like Gladius, but they round to their points, have longer handles, and the blade average a good 20cm longer. I see your point tho. In looking back at the image of Freedom Angel, it does look like the blade is a lot longer than it actually is. I should have changed the perspective a bit to show this, but the sheath ends right behind the wing and the sword is partially drawn. It all adds up to create the illusion that the sword is a lot longer than it actually is. I'll get it right in the future. Thanks for pointing that out Rav.
  23. Here's the first round of stuff (read: the things I've drawn before I had a thread to post in). This is Blitz standing next to his secret identity Henry Donner Here's the working costume design for Cicada-Man (up-and-coming character) Here's the prototype drawings of that final design Here's the Demon Cricket that we discussed one day in the chat. The girlfriend thinks he's cuddly. ::shrugs:: Fusion having a swim. Stesha making with the tree-powers Freedom Angel, doing his roman thing Wesley Knight. Except that he's doesn't have enough tattoos apparently. lol And last, but certainly not least, Divine!
