  1. I recounted several times and I'm pretty sure 23 is right. Duly noted. I'll see if there's a way I can work that out with the points. If he can't use his hands, he can't use the array. I thought it was pretty self explanatory, but I guess not. I lumped that cost in with the cost of the full array. I'll change it so you can see the cost in the base power's cost as well so it's easier to read. You make a good point here Rav. I hadn't decided exactly how he was going to be a hero, or how he was going to be motivated that way, or how he would utilize his powers for good. When I write up his history I may be inspired to simply submit him as an NPC and change his name from "Tripwire" to "Chokeline" or the less inventive "Garrote" and have him be a really sneaky badguy for some of the less powerful heroes on the forum to have some adventures with. But, we'll see what happens. I'm not completely done and I've already started and dropped like 4 PL10 ideas so I wouldn't be bothered at all if I ended up turning him into a villain. Thanks for the input Rav. I'll make the appropriate changes and do another count on points just to make sure I'm not crazy.
  2. Removed due to general discontent.
  3. The one that could run away makes his will save: 1d20=2. He fails so hard my instincts tell me he's been lobotomized... but that's not in the spirit of this setting at all, so he's simply incapacitated. I'll make the fluff post later on.
  4. The Southside C Thugs are going to get GM fiats to stand up from their stunned conditions and then take shots at Kid Cthulhu and Blitz. Blitz and Kid Cthulhu get 1 HP each for the recovery of stunned conditions and Kid Cthulhu gets an additional HP for the surge to throw the lighter into the "balloon remains".
  5. The C's laying on the ground were all basically motionless. The rookies lay scattered about everywhere. Two of the older C's stirred. They had been in the game a long time and they had seen way worse in terms of gun fights than these two freaks could dish out. They drew their guns and each one took a shot at either of the two supers that were still in the lit area. The shot at and missed their targets by miles. They had also lost the element of surprise on Blitz who had been under the influence that the fight was completely over. Pushing himself to the limits, the Thug without the broken arm reached into his pocket and threw a lighter into the wrecked remains of one of the crates. The resulting conflagration ignited instantly and sent a horrible cloud of noxious smoke into the air. The smell was awful and was un-breathable to even the most hearty of lungs. Blitz and Kid Cthulhu, needing air, would have to avoid that cloud of noxious fumes at all costs if they wanted to continue the fight and still be able to breath.
  6. Blitz makes his attack roll: 1d20+9=28. He totally hits every one of them. They get to make toughness saves, DC 21. Thugs get: 1d20+3=7, 1d20+3=10, and 1d20+3=16 Criminals get: 1d20+1=11, 1d20+1=9, 1d20+1=5, and 1d20=5 Nobody passes the save by less than 5... it's a very bad round for the C's. Toughness saves from knockback: 2 Criminals 11, 9; 2 Thugs 14, 7; 1 Thug bruised 17 Which means that we've got some more unconscious people. Crate Team 1 Thug 1 - staggered + stunned + stunned + bruised = 1 Bruise + Staggered + Stunned Criminal 1 - unconscious Criminal 2 - unconscious Crate Team 2 Thug 2 - staggered + stunned + staggered + stunned = Unconscious Criminal 4 - staggered + stunned + staggered + stunned = Unconscious Criminal 3 - staggered + stunned + unconscious = Unconscious Crate Team 3 Thug 3 - bruise + stunned + bruise = 2 Bruise + Stunned Criminal 5 - unconscious Criminal 6 - unconscious
  7. Blitz pulled a quick u-turn running up the side of a storage unit and dashed back into the lit area and took stock of the spread of the standing thugs. 'Hell, I can get 'em all no problem.' His body sparked as he put on a burst of speed and went to hit all of the C's. His fists slammed into all of the assembled Southside C's. They flew back from the area, dropping their crates and leaving Blitz standing in the middle of the sodium lights with the mystic fire burning behind him casting Blitz in a harsh, strange, orange and green light. He sparked a little with the residual energy from his attack adding a flicker of blue lighting to his already strange lighting. "Damn I'm awesome."
  8. Blitz cocked his eyebrow at Valkyrie as she gave her third sanctimonious proclamation in the last five minutes. He nudged Rift with his elbow, put his hand in front of his mouth and said, in a whisper loud enough to be heard by everyone, "I think I'm in love." His face split into a wicked smile. His body let off a spark and he dashed to stand directly in front of Valkyrie in a kneeling position before he continued, "Beautiful woman of the lightning hammer, I would follow you to the fight!" Blitz brought his hand up to the front of his face and balled his hand into a fist, emitting a small spark as he did so. "Lead on and we shall leave a glorious wake of destruction in our path!" It was out of character for Blitz, but he was enjoying himself in that moment. "In plain English; lead the way and I'll kick the crap outta some bad dudes with ya."
  9. Blitz was feeling a bit ill from the excessive speed and impossible trip he was being shown. The last shift up to the upper levels finally did it. His stomach gave an all-mighty heave, Henry twisted away from the supers gathered around, bent over at the waist and chucked-up his lunch. The super-teen spat, wiped his mouth with the back of a gloved hand, and turned around to face the gathered supers once more. "So," Blitz asked, still a little winded, "What you're saying is, 'get in there, kick some technician butt, and turn the power station back on'?" Raising his eyebrow at Scarab for confirmation, "'Cause I'm down with that if it's what we're planning on doing."
  10. The one kid at the back of the line had been struck violently in the side of the head and he swayed and threw the whole moving team into disarray but they managed to keep their balance and hold onto the crate. However, there was a sudden commotion at the front that had the Southside C's immediately on edge and alerted to the fact that they were under attack. The young gang members at the front of the line of crates were completely blindsided by the flames that engulfed the area they stood in. Two, younger, C's caught on fire and were launched away by the mythical explosion around them. They slammed into the metal containers and storage units and lay unconscious on the ground. The older of the three was able to avoid catching on fire, but he did drop the crate that they had been carrying. The wooden box smashed open and the contents spilled out onto the ground. It was filled with nothing but industrial packages of party balloons. The C's looked up and saw the winged horror flying down towards them and saw the mystic fire that had taken out two of their number already. They dropped their crates started reaching for their weapons.
  11. Toughness: Criminals 9 and 16 Toughness: Thug 23 The younger guys fail by 12 and 5 respectively and the Thug (barely) passes. The kids are both stunned so they get knockback, so they make additional toughness saves for the damage of hitting the huge metal storage containers. Toughness for Criminals from knockback and hitting metal containers. DC23 6 and 2. They are down for the count. I'll update the conditions. It's also the top of the round as that was our Surprise round. As soon as you give me an initiative roll LoneStar, I can make up the final initiative order and we can get this show on the road. Initiative: Blitz - 1 HP Unharmed Thugs Kid Cthulhu - 3 HP Unharmed Criminals
  12. Blitz facepalm'd. He whispered the plan to Kid Cthulhu, "You get the three guys with the crate at the front, and I'll take the three guys with the crate at the back." Blitz pointed to the 'crate teams' as he gave instructions. "Go." Blitz ran around Kid Cthulhu and rushed in to take throw a punch at one of the kids carrying the crate in the back. The plan being that he was going to make them drop the crate and therefore throw them all off-balance. Blitz fist slammed home and the thug lurched with the hit, but kept a hold of the crate. 'Damn,' Blitz thought as he rushed out of the light, 'Hope Kid Cthulhu has better luck with his than I did.'
  13. Kid Cthulhu and Blitz get a surprise round since they Thugs and Criminals failed their notice checks against the two heroes' stealth attempts. Blitz hits and uses move-by action to get out of the lit area. The Criminal takes the hit and fails his toughness by 4 and is bruised, but succeeds at his concentration check to keep holding onto the crate he's moving.
  14. Just so we have the info available: Damage conditions: Crate Team 1 Thug 1 Criminal 1 - unconscious Criminal 2 - unconscious Crate Team 2 Thug 2 Criminal 4 Criminal 3 Crate Team 3 Thug 3 Criminal 5 Criminal 6 - Bruise Criminal Attack: +1 Def: 12 / 11 flat-footed Tough: +1 Fort: +0 Ref: +3 Will: +0 Unarmed DC: 15 toughness Pistol DC: 18 toughness Thug Attack: +2 Def: 12 / 11 flat-footed Tough: +3 Fort: +4 Ref: +1 Will: +0 Unarmed DC: 17 toughness Pistol DC: 18 toughness
  15. Blitz deposited the man he had gotten out of his car on the west end of the bridge, where he would be safe for the time being. "Get outta here," was all he said before he bolted back into the fray. As Blitz ran back towards the fray he took in the situation as it stood now. A lot had happened in a very short amount of time. Talos had thrown one of those flying heroes off the bridge, the civies were getting saved. As he ran by a slightly smoking van Blitz saw a woman who he couldn't help, he didn't have the strength to rip that door open or to un-stick her leg that was obviously pinned. He turned his attention to the bigger problem at hand: the spider-bots that were taking down the suspension on the suspension bridge. He turned and ran straight up one of the cables that was being cut into and put on an extra burst little of speed he dashed from cable to cable in an effort to hit the spider-bots who were welding the cables that were coincidentally keeping the bridge out of the water. In a flurry of speeding fists, Blitz pummeled the spider-bots within his reach and continued running up the cable until he reached the huge suspension cable. He slid to a stop and looked around to continue see what had happened since he had bothered to look at the battlefield earlier.
  16. â€The Brotherhood are a basically a hate gang,†Blitz was whispering to avoid being heard, â€Theye’re a bunch of brainwashed white supremacist kids who think that by killing off the minorities they’ll make the world a better place to live in. Really 1930’s Germany if you ask me.†The two heroes crept along, making almost no noise as they did so. Kid Cthulhu’s slight humming went completely unnoticed by the group of late teens and early twenty-somethings that were grouped beneath one of the orange lights. There were nine of them once all told. Six looked significantly younger than the other three, and they all appeared to be handling a shipment of crates in three man teams. Blitz thought that it would be drugs considering it was the C’s and they were notorious for being a major force in the drug distribution rings in Freedom, but especially in Southside. Blitz looked tapped Kid Cthulhu on the shoulder and pointed at one of the teams and then pointed at Kid Cthulhu. He then pointed at another team, they separated by the third, and then pointed at himself. He cocked an eyebrow to see if Kid C understood what he was getting at.
  17. Blitz laughed as Grim shoved him and continued to smile as she philosophised right back at him. As soon as she pulled out her "I'll protect you, little trailhand," routine though, Blitz started to chuckle again and was laughing outright by the time she was tipping her big hat at him. He collected himself and replied, "I'll be OK, Grim. I walked the streets plenty when I didn't have any super-powers, I'll sure as hell be able to manage now that I've got 'em." As if to prove a point, Blitz got up, stretched a little, and felt about how charged he was: enough to get home at about half-speed. "If you're not gonna be the one to get going first, then I'll sure beat the hasty retreat first." He turned away from Grim, looked over his shoulder, and waved. "See you Fall Semester then, huh?" A small aura of electricity played around Blitz just before he tore off down the walk, a blur in the night.
  18. Henry's eyes locked on Grim as she let her past slip through her words. The objects fell to the ground, but the younger hero didn't really care about them anymore. It was the confession that Grim had made that really got to him. She was an adult. More importantly she was an adult who had gotten through being a teenager herself, probably with more trouble than he was having currently. At that Henry smiled and belted out a great gale of laughter at the irony of the situation. Here was Grimalkin wishing that she was young so she could get a re-do on her childhood, while Henry sat next to her wishing that he was older so he wouldn't have to deal with this teenager crap anymore. He pulled himself together, still smiling and said, "Well would you look at us. I don't suppose you see the proverbial coin metaphor fitting into our situation as well as I do, do you, Grim?"
  19. Blitz was listening to Grim talk about how she was going to maybe be coming to school here in her civilian life. It was something that Henry was gonna have to think about soon as well. With High School graduation rapidly approaching and his parents having been saving, above everything else, for his college fund it was a hot topic of discussion back home. He hadn't stopped here, as Grim had, to check out the campus... at least not consciously. Now that he was thinking about it, it seemed only natural that he would have gravitated towards the campus with his future in the thoughts at the back of his mind. Grim was juggling at this point, and doing a fantastic job of it given that she wasn't really paying attention to what she was doing. "Pfft," Blitz uttered, "I heard that. I'm not sure what's gonna happen when I start college next semester. Part of me just wants to stay in High School." Henry was really showing his age through his costume at this point, his "Blitz persona" starting to fade away as he thought more on the impending changes in his life. "After all, I'm just a kid in a ridiculous costume, what the hell do I know about college anyway?"
  20. 'Ok, quick assessment; tons-of-spider-drones-destroying-cars, civilians-in-danger-everywhere, evil-metal-man-who-hates-biologicals, other-supers-on-the-scene. Whaddoido?' It was then that Blitz saw the unconscious figure in the car leaking some fluid that was creeping towards the flaming wreckage of a car. Blitz cocked his eyebrow at the image before him. He ran full tilt at the car with the guy in it. He ran over the other cars and through the wreckage to get there as fast as possible. He wrenched the door open, pulled the unconscious man out, tossed the man over his shoulders, and high-tailed it away from the leaky car. It was hard to move with this guy on his shoulders; Blitz was definitely moving slower than he normally would have. Blitz made his slower-than-normal escape to a less dangerous location to drop off his "cargo".
  21. Alright, Superspeed Initiative Get!!! 1d20+19=30 Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww-yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah...
  22. Henry had just gotten home, grabbed an afternoon snack, and sprawled across the couch when he turned on the television and saw the news report. Henry's chin drooped to his chest. He took a deep breath and turned off the tube before he jumped up, threw his uneaten bag of pretzels down on the dining room table and pulled off his street clothes, revealing his costume. He slid his goggles on and bolted for the door and the street beyond. -Less than 2 Minutes Later- Blitz streaked onto the scene dressed in his black suit with the purple bolts that ran from his spine and wrapped around his torso. He was definitely not expecting to see the 9' tall bronze man who loomed in the street bellowing at the top of his lungs. "Well..." Blitz thought, "This just got a lot more complicated."
  23. Kid C opened his wings and took off at a pretty slow clip. Blitz sparked once more before jogging after the winged terror staying just in front of him. When he asked which of the gangs they were likely to find Blitz turned around and ran backwards so he could talk to his fellow hero while they went. "The C's or the Brotherhood are the most likely ones we'll find." He turned around and continued to jog along before he gave a more full description of what they could expect, "The C's are into drugs, so they usually carry guns on them. The Brotherhood... I really don't like the Brotherhood. I kinda make it a point to throw a wrench in their plans whenever I can." They kept moving all the way to the airport, it took a lot longer than it would have normally taken Blitz, but that was OK. As they arrived on the scene the airport was still in full swing, the traffic picked up, and the presence of people in the area was definitely more noticeable than it had been where Kid Cthulhu and Blitz had first met. The activity was likely to be taking place over on the far side of the complex, where they had storage facilities. And therefore places to conceal drug deals and meetings. The speedster continued to move at a slow rate, so that Kid Cthulhu could follow easily. The two heroes arrived at the airport storage facilities shortly after coming within sight of the airport. The lighting was harsh, orange, and dim, cast from the sodium lights high above the ground. Blitz stopped and listened for the sound of activity. He heard the sound of voices and motioned for Kid Cthulhu to follow him as he tried to sneak up to the place the voices were coming from. Hoping that Kid C could be quiet as well and that the gang, if that's what they actually were, didn't have a particularly observant lookout.
  24. Blitz smiled at the reaction from Grim. It was nice to know that this strange woman approved of his taste and didn't just wonder why he didn't like the more mainstream women of the current time. It's not like he knew why he didn't think that the popular women of the time were as hot as everyone would have you think. "Don't get me wrong," Blitz said, "They're not bad looking. I just don't think they're as hot as everyone else says they... are..." Biltz trailed off as Grimmalkin- It was a really odd thing to see. Suddenly it was Angela Bassett standing exactly where Grimmalkin had been before. It was obvious to the brain that this was some kind of disguise or mystical appearance altering magic. But it was the exact opposite to the visual senses. According to the information that Henry's eyes were giving him, Angela had somehow replaced Grimmalkin in that swirling mist. Blitz could only stare dumbly, mouth slightly agape, at this... whatever had just happened. 'Shapeshifting,' Blitz thought, 'Alright, I can dig it. Talons? Blatant vandalism? Not so much' Blitz looked up at Grimmalkin and cocked his eyebrow disapprovingly at this interesting woman. Blitz smiled wanly at this question. "Well, Grim, put simply, I'm fast. Put more specifically I've got this electric charge in me that lets me accelerate to, as near as I can tell, 500 miles an hour. I'm actually kinda annoyed that I can't break that sound barrier, you know? Seems like it should be one of those things fast heroes can just do." Blitz sighed in both resignation and frustration. "Normally I'd be able to give you a demonstration. But, like I said earlier, I ran outta juice so I'm resting up so I can get home before sunrise." Henry lapsed into silence for a moment and leaned back over the bench, much the way he had before Grim had shown up. He didn't feel particularly uncomfortable with the silence, but he knew from experience that others might feel that way given where and when these two heroes were. " So, Grim," Blitz asked, "Why you decide to head out to the campus tonight?"
  25. Blitz cocked his eyebrow up so you could see it above his goggles and seemed to consider his response for a moment or two. He had always thought that Angela Bassett was pretty hot so he decided to go with that. However, while Blitz was sure this was going to be Grim showing that she could reproduce someone's likeness, he had no idea how this strange woman was going to do it. "I've always thought Angela Bassett was pretty easy on the eyes. So show me what you got?" He hadn't intended for it to be a question when he had started saying it, but such had been his surprise at saying it in the first place that he had to question what he was saying, while he was saying it! It was definitely not his night.
