  1. Cole looked up at bit at the massive young man, extending his way smaller hand to be shook. "I'm Cole. Nice to meet you. If I'd known this was happening, I'd have come by sooner. Lost track of time in the 'shop fiddling with stuff," he said with a little shrug. "I'll get that VR simulation system done I swear," he muttered half to himself. He wasn't the most social adept but he was fairly bright. It was well past time to leave the previous bout of heightened emotions behind. "I was told you and another senior or two were traveling the world or something. How was that?" He quirked an eyebrow at Jeena. "Home is where you hang you hat is the local saying I believe," he said with a shrug. Still, he preferred something with modern amenities. He nodded at her as he suddenly saw the plans sitting on the table. He took them in with just a momentary glance. Simple, functional. He resisted the urge grab a pen and make some changed to improve it, but only just. It wasn't his to touch after all. "Oh, I'm sure we can handle it. Its a greenhouse. I can build a multi-function radio sound wave amplification and generator without blinking. I'm sure we can do this." He paused, realizing that might not have made a lot of sense. "Uh...that's a radio speaker and microphone," he said with an apologetic smile. He watched Jeena turn and leave to start working again. Appreciatively; she was rather cute after all. He blinked. And really tall, he thought with an addendum. Obviously I know what her power is. At least what one power is. Cool, he thought, using the local vernacular. Cole nodded to her brother as the fellow returned to working. "Nice meet you too. So...uh, what do need me to do?"
  2. Cole walked out of the store and had started to head for the Lab when everything went weird. He'd just been out for a quick bite to eat. He really needed to pay attention to those little things otherwise he'd miss them entirely as he got lost in his work. He blinked at the green lightning strikes not a couple blocks away. "Fascinating," he said half to himself. He quickly dropped the coffee he'd been holding into the trash and dashed into an alley. He needed some cover to activate his suit. He had no idea what was going on over. It could be some crazy super villain, an odd experiment gone wrong, or maybe some natural phenomena of this city that he just hadn't encountered yet. (There were all sorts of weird things that made no logical sense that he was still pondering over.) While the odds implied this wasn't some simple benign event, it could happen. Either way, he was simply too curious NOT to go look. So a few moment after ducking into cover, Torque came out and was headed closer to the day's anomaly. The sensors on his suit beeped warnings at him about dimensional fluctuations, warning of possible dangers. Which really just egged his curiosity on even more.
  3. remind me what the bluff does...and unless its A LOT, don't think you'll be hitting...
  4. Cole nodded after giving the boy a quick glance. Whatever had caused their little grouchy spat certainly seemed to be clinging amongst some of them. "Yeah, I have that same problem. Lots of things seem so bizarre and confusing. Weird," he said with a shrug of one shoulder. "A plant controller? I haven't met her either. Definitely need to get out more. I'm sure she'll be fine though," he said after swallowing a bite. He quirked an eyebrow at Jeena. "I hope your future cave has working plumbing and power...'cause I don't see that as too comfortable without them. Once in a while camping, sure...but I'm definitely into the power technologies and amenities," he said with a smile. "Sorry, fashion stuff makes little to no sense either. I'll stick with my nice comfy air conditioned workshop with its tools and power, thanks. I hope you enjoy your spelunking just to get inside though." He looked over at the 'work in progress' curiously. "So...a greenhouse. Um, not that I want to seem rude or uncomplimentary, but are there are architectural plans and has anyone here actually built something like this before?"
  5. lol No worries, I understand. Figuring he's being all 'discipline/watchdog' guy. I haven't done anything to get on the radar yet.
  6. Doktor'd I'd like to make some quick edits for Torque (yes I need to do DS but he isn;t in threads right now and I'm getting there) first: there's an error in his Toughness line. "+15 (Imp 12) armored mode;" is a holdover from the previous version and should be removed. I'd like to add the following Feats: Improvised Tools Jack-Of-All-Trades Move-by Attack Which will leave him with 2 unspent. Doktor'd
  7. Cole nodded to the attractive girl and her brother, if he had to guess given the resemblance and the young man's words, with a smile as he reached for a piece of pizza. "Nice to meet you. I'm Cole." He took a bit with a chuckle and shook his head. "And why should I keep my head down? I got here just as the yelling started; I wasn't involved. I'm guessing you two are new here? I only got here about 2 months ago myself. Apparently I need to get out more," he added with a smile. He wasn't the most socially adept person given his rather limited knowledge and experience with the subject but even he could tell there was some friction going on. The big fellow who had done the yelling (not that he could blame him given how rapidly things had been deteriorating when Cole had arrived) seemed content to ignore him. Cole shrugged and looked around. "So, from the supplies and current set up you guys are trying to build a...greenhouse?" he asked curiously.
  8. Cole watched the two robots as they gathered themselves and looked the way Cole and Vicky had gone. "Don't tire yourself out on one shot. The 2nd still needs to be dealt with and it is in much better condition." He shook his head at her final words. "Sculpture, no. Keeping it to study, abso-freaking-lutely," he said with fierce intensity. He dearly wanted to know how those things worked. And who built them. "Here we go," he said after it looked like Vicky was ready. "This might be a little weird but you'll have a clean shot on the back of the damaged one." Keeping on arm wrapped around her waist, he reached out with his other hand to grab the lamppost nearby. Aligning the targeting location, he activated the tertiary system and digitized the two of them, sucking them into the pole and the lines inside. In a flash, they rematerialized next to the lamppost in the park and facing the back of the robot from about twenty feet away. Cole shook his head and brought the systems back to combat levels even as he let Vicky go.
  9. I'm in if you've got space left. Torque is likely a better fit, power-wise.
  10. It didn't take a tactical genius to see this fight was not exactly going in their favor. He was a bit hurt and, according to his sensors, Vicky was in rough shape. The two dang robots were practically unscathed. And Cole was a genius. They needed to regroup and try this again. "Time to change tactics," he muttered. He didn't wait around to see if his energy disk hit on the rebound. He didn't hesitate; instead he turned took two quick steps. Wrapping one arm around her waist, he jumped and sprinted along the tops of the park lights. Within moments, he was standing on the large wall surrounding the park almost 200 yards away. He kept her supported as he looked back, watching. "Ok, new tactic. They've planned for this and while we might win how we were going, it'd be too close. We can't retreat. That'd let them go and cause who knows how much damage. Let's trying something else. Once you're set, I'm gonna drop us back in. We're going to double team them. I'll get you a clean shot on the wounded one. We take it down fast. If we need to hop out again before taking on the 2nd, we do so. Questions?," he asked, getting ready to drop them back into the fight. His voice was hard and his tone firm. He wasn't leaving.
  11. last rounds throwing disk... (1d20+7=17) hits... who'd have thunk! tough (1d20+12=16) vs a 27! fail by 11! so, 1 is now staggered and stunned, the other is bruised x1 Still time for a new plan!
  12. first to hit Torque, second Wisp DC 26 if it hits (1d20+10=20, 1d20+10=28) and they both got hit AGAIN Torque's save (he's at -1 due to bruised which I forgot to add in) tough (1d20+13=25) so...failed. Bruised x2 now...
  13. The large robots did not give an inch. They seemingly ignored the young heroes attacks and continued forward to trying and batter them to the ground. The ground practically shook from their weight as they stomped forward. They were fast, tough and hit incredibly hard. Both electrified fists connected sending Torque and Wisp reeling... The Claremont students just might be in a spot of serious trouble!
  14. Cole blinked just once, taking the sudden commotion in along with everyone scurrying about and acting rather odd. He recognized a couple of them but there were quite a few he didn't. He really needed to get out of his workshop more often apparently given the faces he didn't recognize, the plethora of activities going on, not to mention the drama apparently. Well, he could skip the drama actually. Cute girls and fun were great and all; but he could happily skip the drama. He just didn't get it anyway; too confusing. "Not that I wish to intrude upon...well, whatever is going on, but can I be of some assistance?"
  15. Cole needed a break. Between spending time over at the Lab and working on the VR project Vicky had come up with, he hadn't surfaced from his working fugue for a bit except for meals and the like. The project had really grabbed his attention and had consumed him almost. It was challenging and fun...in a rather geeky kind of way. Not to mention, the potential of the project was rather extensive with multiple connecting possibilities. Working on the projects was fun and all but human interaction was kind of important as well. So, time to take a break. He walked out of the dorm after a nice refreshing shower, feeling revitalized and energized. He looked across the open and mostly lawns a moment. Soon this place was going to be rather full. Might as well enjoy the fresh air and quiet till then he figured. Without a set direction in mind, he started wandering almost aimlessly. He hadn't gone far when he heard multiple voices as well as some shuffling and moving around. Rounding the corner of a building, his curiosity pulled him along. Noting several new faces as well as some known ones, he stepped up and let his eyes wander over the situation. "Uh...good morning everyone."
  16. Just looked... you've already got 6 or so in there. Sure you're ok with me hopping in at this late point? Don't want to slow things down.
  17. Seems I'm rather late to this party (RL sucks) but Torque is interested in helping out (and RP of course).
  18. Torque's toughness save: toughness (1d20+13=26) attacking: attack (1d20+7=12) wow, that's sad...ah well, that's why it has homing.
  19. Torque gave a simple nod in response. He wasn't sure how strong her regeneration was but it certainly seemed to be handling this without a problem. Heck, she was doing significantly better than he was it seemed. Apparently, he really needed to practice a good deal more and maybe even upgrade his suit a bit. Even as he summoned another energy disk, he was trying to analyze what little information they had about the source of this attack. Unfortunately he wasn't coming up with much of use. When the large fist slammed into his shoulder, he grimaced and threw his own disk. The impact and his distraction cost him however. The energy disk soared right by the massive robot and disappeared through the leaves. Ok, time to change tactics before I get too hurt. Really need to upgrade the suit's abilities I think. He righted himself, preparing to deal with the next attack even as he did a quick glance at the suit's status displays.
  20. Those trees weren't quite done yet. A couple of heavy plodding steps and they tried to once more crush Wisp under their collective branches...but it was a futile attempt. Even as she nimbly and easily dodged away, the trees gradually slowed their movements and returned to normal (though significantly worse for wear) tress. The two massive robots stood and mostly ignored the teenage heroes attempts to batter them down. Large metal plates slid down over the machines' hands with a heavy 'click'. There was a sudden crackle of electricity as those same plates became energize and massive set of 'brass' knuckles. Together they swung, slamming those massive fists into the two teens with significant force and a crackle of discharged energies.
  21. aid dc 10 (1d20+8=28, 1d20+8=9, 1d20+8=11, 1d20+8=22) +6 to hit Wisp: 1d20+12=19 swing and a miss to hit (first Torque, second Wisp_ (1d20+10=23, 1d20+10=24) hits us both... that's a DC 26 soak and I'll get the IC up in a sec
  22. Dark Star Torque Starbucks and Sketches If you built it Invisible Horizons Rage Against the Machines ignore for now (just putting links here to remind me) Same Old, Same Old Cole + Caresse
  23. Torque Freedom City Torque dove around the corner of a building, a millisecond before the energy beams tore through the space he’d just been inhabiting. He created an explosive energy disk and tossed it around that same corner after a quick peak. Without looking to see the result, he turned and leaped upwards to cling to the side of the building with a quick adjustment. Activating the suit’s stealth systems, he waited a long moment and wonder what was going on. It had been a normal morning really. He was thinking ahead, far beyond figuring out what materials he would needed to finish up the VR project Vicky had asked him about. He just needed some superconductive wire, a thermal regulator and some part found in a regular microwave oven and he’d be done the physical creation. Of course, he still needed to work on the coding. That was what was occupying most of his attention when he walked into the convenience store to grab a case of soda. Curse Vicky for that…it hadn’t taken much for him to become a full blow caffeine addict. Of course when he went to go pay for the soda, everything went nuts. The guy behind the counter started randomly screaming incoherently at him. And one of the other customers in the store attacked him with a broom. They weren’t too much of a threat of course, even without his suit. But still, he had a couple lumps on his head from that crazy lady and her broom. He finally had to suit up and subdue them when the store clerk whipped out a shotgun. Cole finally had a moment as he stepped back from the tied up people to look around. It was then he noticed the other problems. The first was the crazy news reports on the store’s TV. But the immediate problem was marching down the street towards the store…a bunch of goose-stepping aliens in lab gear? That gave him pause, or at least made him blink in surprise. That blink quickly turned into a crouch as those same drones started attacking. He recognized them, sort of, from his readings and research. Grue. Ok…not good. He couldn’t beat hundreds of the things, well 248 to be precise, certainly not in a regular fight. He doubted he could win even by being sneaky as heck. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much of a choice. So, activating his stealth suite, he started his one man guerilla attacks on the hordes. Throw some explosive disks then run around a corner before they could blast him. Reset and repeat. A lot. He whittled them down here and there, slowly but surely. At this rate, he should take out the entire group in approximately….4 hours, 23 minutes and 15 seconds. Give or take. And that was assuming that he didn’t get injured or other circumstances arose. Not exactly a likely prospect. A change of tactics was needed. He wasn’t a leader, but he could plan and do strategies with the best of them. It was time to link up with others. Heroes, police, army, whatever. His previous strategy was just delaying the inevitable. If they wanted to win, they needed to organize and get moving. Even as he leapt away from more blasts, he frown in frustration. He never did get his caffeine fix.
  24. Dark Star Earth (all over) Dark Star had reacted quickly after hearing Scarab’s message. Stesha and their child were safe on Sanctuary along with Avenger and Phantom’s boy. It was a huge load off of his mind. Now the only thing concerning him was the apparent worldwide invasion of some kind of evil monsters. That and what those creatures had done to his friend of course. He had immediately recognized Doktor Archeville. Those creatures must have captured him somehow, forcing the brilliant and good scientist to change and do their bidding somehow. Dark Star would have gone to find the man but unfortunately, the world came first. People all over the world were in danger from multiple threats, even themselves. He would have to hope Scarab and the others could help their friend until everything else was resolved. He had to stop in Madrid, Prague and Moscow to deal with hordes of people simply going insane. Crowds of people, seemingly at random, were fighting and hurting themselves. It made his heart heavy to do it, he even apologized to them all (not that they seemed to understand or acknowledge it), but he ended up slamming heavy gravity zones all over just to keep them safe, relatively speaking, until the authorities could move in. Unfortunately, the problem was just immense, too widespread. He kept heading towards the bigger problems, the drones. He kept having to stop and help the local authorities with the ‘rioting’ citizens. The hordes of drones were…troublesome. They were tough and dangerous of course, and there were certainly enough of them. Blasting through them, he took down one after another, but there were always more. And they hit back, often. Luckily, most weren’t strong enough to do more than ring his bell a bit. Still, they were a threat he couldn’t dismiss. Even only a few of them were dangerous threat to the innocent people of the world, let alone other heroes. In the huge numbers these drones were in, they could do untold amounts of damage and take who know how many lives? Bruised and battered, with a host of scattered and unconscious drones everywhere, Dark Star tried to focus. Individually, he could take the drones with ease. Even 5 at a time were not too much of a problem. But dozens? Hundreds? He was tough but after all that… He hurt. Stars above did he hurt. And if he could take a few minutes to zip off to a star and heal, he’d be properly restored. Unfortunately those were minutes no one could afford. Even now, through his addled and aching head, he could hear signals, call for help. He never even considered those minutes. It wasn’t his way. Forcing the pain done, the world came into focus. He dropped a simple gravity field on the drones, just to make sure as well as to help slow down the troublesome rioters, before shooting up and away. There were hordes in abundance that needed to be stopped and stopped soon. As he flew, he hoped the others were successful at freeing his friend and saving the others. Seeing another group of drones, he summoned a thought of his wife and child to fortify him and flew at them, hands ablaze with power.
  25. so close tough (1d20+12=21)
