  1. Grimalkin

The diminutive heroine nodded in approval. "Here's to having friends in high places." She clinked the neck of her beer against his in salute. Tucking her legs up under herself, she turned to consider Ghost, resting her head on on ones fist.

"So how do you normally celebrate a victory like this? I mean, I say I'm done, but I know I won't be able to fall asleep for hours." The changeling looked off into the distance thoughtfully. "I could really go for some pinball and mozzarella sticks right about now."

  2. Casey nodded as she continued to peruse the menu. "Well, yeah, sure! I mean, as weird as it feels to say so, I am a bit of a veteran myself."

She paused to look at Terrifica thoughtfully, a wistful smile in her lips.

"Jeez, how long has its been since that first team-up? It was September 1st, 2014. I'll never forget it; the day that changed my life. That'll be...eight years this year; wow!"

The waitress came by their booth, and Miracle Girl flashed that famous million watt smile.

"Hi, yes! I'd like the bacon triple cheeseburger, a large loaded cheese fries, aaaaand a large Oreo shake, please, with whipped cream and a cherry. Thank you, Vanessa!" She always made a point of reading name tags.

  3. Grim snapped her fingers and a leather sofa appeared on the sidewalk in a puff of gray vapor. She walked over to it and dropped into it with a thump.

"Well, that's me done for the night!"

She drew a circle in the air with a finger, which seemed to open some sort of portal; she reached in and pulled out a small plastic cooler, which she set on the sofa beside her.

"Hey, you want a beer? I think they're still cold."

The changeling fished out a bottle of Blue Moon and held it to her wrist.

    "Mmm; cold-ish."

Flicking out her talons again, she deftly popped the top off her beer and took a long swig.

"Ah, that's nice! So do you usually call the cops at this point?"

The power Lulu will be using.

Finally arriving at the scene, Lulu floated high over the scene, mouth open in shock at the extent of the robotic bee takeover of the area.

"Oh dear Lord, this is bad!"

Dropping out of the sky, she landed next to the most obviously heroic person present (at least by her standards), the woman without a uniform shooting energy from her hands. Lulu moved quickly to Queenie, her rural Alabama accent very pronounced as she spoke.

"Excuse me, ma'am, but has anyone made contact with the folks inside? Ah'm a bit of a telepath, and ah could have a look 'round with mah mind."

She pointed a gloved finger at the side of her head, then looked bacl at the building covered in wax.

"Know what, ah'm just goin' to go ahead and have a lil' peek."

And with that she closed her eyes, arms at her sides and fists clenched, and sent her sense within the structure, looking to see the status of those trapped within.

  6. Grimalkin

As the great beast fell, Grim leaped off his head and landed with a well-practiced acrobatic tumble, knees slightly bent and hands on the ground. The changeling hopped to her feet and dusted herself off, then looked back at Rex and sighed with visible relief.

"Jeez, what a colossal pain in the ass!"  She shook her head and casually gave a Ghost a high five before putting her hands on her hips and walking off a bit of the tension and exhaustion she was feeling right now.

"I need to work on some new tactics; that glamour feedback nearly did me in!" She doubled over with her hands on her knees for a few seconds, then made a sort of rolling gesture with her index finger. "I need to find a way to...make the glamour stronger, but also disconnect it from myself. Summon it without using myself as the anchor point, y'know?"

"Hey, we worked really well together, huh? Maybe we should do some training sometime." She gestured vaguely over one shoulder. "I have some property nearby with a sort of obstacle course-slash-shooting range set-up. Could be fun." Then she frowned. "Uh, how up-to-date are you on your tetanus shots?"

  7. "Works for me," Casey said with a shrug and a smile. She joined Terrifica at her booth and idly picked up one of the laminated menus tucked behind the condiment rack. This was going to be challenging, because everything looked good!

"It's a little weird seeing you without the cowl, to be honest."

  8. Grimalkin

As he broke free from this confinement, thin trails of vapor seeped out of Rex's nostrils, and coalesced back into a solid Grimalkin, now perched crosslegged on top of the theropod's head. She leaned over and peered into his monicled eye, just as Ghost rested his hand on her shoulder to give her aid. At his touch, she looked up at the friendly neighborhood specter and smiled.

    "Thanks, bud."

She leaned over and gave him a friendly kiss on the cheek. And then she reared up and buried her claws into the top of Rex's head.

    "Hyargh!"

  9. "Holy crap, that is amazing," agreed a stunned Lynn. "That's going to have a thousand and one uses, I bet."

Folding her arms across her chest and unconsciously moving closer to Daphne, the changeling gave Davyd a firm look that was only half-serious, but also full of pride.

"I hope you appreciate how lucky you are; between the treasure trove of movie magazines and the world's coolest microcamera, your aunties delivered today. You better go out into the world and make us proud. You here me, kachenya?"

  10. Despite having been a member of the Freedom League Auxiliary for over two years, Casey still felt like 'the new kid'. At twenty-four, she was definitely one of the younger team members, and her somewhat bookish nature meant she had a relatively small circle of friends. And of course, there was still schoolwork to be done. Still, it was nice to see Daphne and eat way too much of the catering; she didn't really bother with alcohol, since it barely had any effect on her.

When she noticed Daphne suddenly turning her head to the door, Miracle Girl turned her amazing eyes towards the outside to see what was up.

    "Oh jeez."

She politely handed her cup and plate to one of the caterers, thanked them, and then flew outside to join Daphne and the others, floating in the air next to her friend, arms crossed and looking stern.

  11. Grim snarled, her pretty face now contorted with fury. "Okay, now I'm pissed; time to fight dirty."

Hunching forward, at first it appeared as if the changeling wasn't doing anything. But then Ghost noted the tips of her spiky hair getting wispy...then the top of her head...then her eyes... In a truly unnerving display, the shapeshifter was rendering her body into pure glamour, the misty stuff of dreams. But this strange gray vapor had a purpose, and it was bringing down Thesaurus Rex!

The gaseous glamour flowed over to the captive beast and began pouring into his flared nostrils at an alarming rate, and soon was filling his lungs.

  12. Noting the very obvious superhero sitting inside, Casey grinned and waved at him before pulling open the door and entering the Shake Shack. Unlike Nevermore, Miracle Girl was a visible presence in Freedom, and while not as famous as some other heroes, she tended to draw some attention; the fact they she was a tall, attractive blonde didn't help matters. So there were a few selfies she needed to pose for before she made it to the teen crimefighter's booth.

"Sorry about that," she said with a slight grimace as she approached Nevermore. "But to be honest, they just would have taken pictures of us on the sly anyway." Casey held out a gloved hand to offer a very firm but warm handshake. "I'm Miracle Girl; very nice to meet you."

  13. Miracle Girl

2022 was going to be an interesting year for twenty-four year-old Casey Blankeship. Last year she graduated from FCU with her Bachelor's in Journalism, but decided to stay on and get her Master's with a focus on scientific and environment reporting. Most of her sorority sisters were leaving Freedom, including some of her best friends: Lola Carbone was heading back to Boston and into MIT, and Darlene Lampwick was heading to Harvard Law. They were talking about getting a place together. Only Stephanie Kowalski, resident cynic and hilarious oddball, was staying in Freedom for grad school, so naturally she and Casey went in together on an apartment.

During a ski trip over the holidays back in Colorado, she told her three best friends about her secret identity; Stephanie had already figured it out (she was always the smart one), Lola suspected something was up, and Darlene was utterly flabbergasted. There were a lot of tears, apologies and hugs, and of course everyone got a brief private flight, but it bonded the four of them together like never before. It was a magical week.

But now she faced the realities of grad school; a lot more schoolwork, including lots of group projects that she couldn't just super-speed through. She and Steph hardly saw each other except on the weekends, and she didn't have as much time for hero work. So she was delighted to get the call to meet up with Terrifica and her new protégé, who was somehow part of the Raven Family.

Dropping out of the sky with a soft but firm thump in her red, white and blue uniform, Casey stepped over to the resturaunt window to take a peek inside. She didn't bother to look for Terrifica (she allowed the super-detective her dramatic entrances), but was instead checking out the menu and decor.

  14. More angry with herself than anything else, the changeling drew a deep breath, and her chest expanded like a stallion as she grew a full foot taller and her arms extended in reach. Rearing her talons back like a major league pitcher (all this happening in a blink of any eye), Grim slashed out at the ridiculous beast before her, snarling with rage, her face distorted and demonic with fury.

  15. Grim rose unsteadily to her feet, clutching her side; the pain wasn't as bad, but her head was still swimming. Looking up, she realized she was much closer to the bizarre dinosaur than she thought, an opportunity she hoped not to waste.

    "Hiyaaah!"

There was a lot of power behind the thrust, but the sudden movement nearly made the shapeshifter puke, and her talons swung wide of the mark.

    "Damn it!"
