  1. Crystal-Gazer

"Oh, you mean like Veronica? Yeah, she would be a big help with this, wouldn't she? Ah'll have to give her a call later."

Lulu ran her fingers through her hair and looked down at her feet. "Thank you, for helpin' me with this. Ah'm still not used to good things happenin' in mah life."

She looks up at Megan and smiles, though there are tears in her eyes.

"Ah'm still always waitin' for the other shoe to drop, y'know? To have to pay for all the good things that've happened to me."

She shakes her head and places her hands over her stomach.

"Ah still feel that knot of fear."

  2. Miracle Girl

There was no way Casey Blankenship was going to miss this circus, for a number of reasons. To a journalism student interested in the sciences, Max Mars was certainly newsworthy, even though Casey found his personal style to be a little crass. The mention of the alien spacecraft in the fliers stapled to announcement boards all over campus set off a number of alarm bells as the type of high profile target some villains can't resist. And lastly no student can afford to pass up the promise of free food, especially one who had an appetite like Miracle Girl!

So Wednesday morning found her at the Guthrie Center, tote bag holding her textbooks and supersuit over one shoulder and plate piled high with pizza and fried chicken in hand as she prepared for Mr. Mars to inflict his discovery upon the gathered throng.

    Jeez, this guy is obnoxious.

  3. Lulu stepped into the room and had a seat, tuck her legs underneath her. "Ah'm sorry to bother you, but there's a few things ah could really need your help with, is all."

The young redhead took a deep breath and let it out slowly.

"Ah'm thinkin'...that ah would like to go to school as, uh, an open telepath. Not necessarily havin' a press conference about it, but, well, ah might not have a choice in that, ah guess."

Lulu got up and started to pace around Megan's office.

"Ah know ah want to study psychology, maybe even get mah doctorate, but ah don't want to hide my abilities. In fact, ah might want to use 'em. Like, therapeutically, if that's legal."

And then she stopped directly in front of her foster mother and sighed.

"But ah know that could cause a lot of problems, maybe even be dangerous. And that could put you and your family at risk. So...that's kind of everythin'."

  4. The Harrow Estate, North Bay. Thursday, April 14th, 2022. Noon.

Lulu Beaumont sat cross-legged on her bed, staring down at all her acceptance letters and program materials from various colleges and universities spread out before her. Her eyes darted from letter to letter, to glossy brochure and then to pamphlet, her right leg pumping nervously the whole time. At length, she sighed, through up her hands, and rolled off the bed onto her stocking feet, and began padding towards her foster mother's home office.

Once she got there, she gently knocked on the open door; it was indicative of her state of mind that she was still wearing her oversized Alabama State jersey and pink sleeping pants this late in the day.

"Hey Megan, you got a second?" She hung on the door frame as though afraid to step inside.

  5. Grimalkin

"Well we should probably call the cops, right? I mean, hopefully they heard all the ruckus and are on their way, but we can give them a heads up on the who, what, where and why."

Grim drew a small circle in the air with her finger, and reached into it until her arm disappeared up to the elbow, leaving empty space at the end. She then pulled out a smartphone in a well-armored case and speed dialed someone.

"Hi, Detective Colby? Yeah, it's your favorite super-pest!...Yeah yeah, long time no see! Listen, me and a few friends have bagged a couple no-goods in the Fens. We...yeah yeah, the shooter and another a######...No, they're both out and restrained. I'll text you the address and some pics...Yeah, no problem...Oh, really?....Yeah, that would be awesome!...Okay, cool...Yep, just let me know the place and time...Alright...Alright, you too....Bye."

The changeling then proceeded to take pictures of both unconscious foes and some of the property damage. "Colby's an old friend. We haven't talked in a while, so we're going to do lunch and catch up."

She paused to look to the other heroes nearby, holding up her phone.

"Hey, you guys wanna do a 'super selfie' with the perps to send to the cops? Appearance is optional."

  6. Casey shifted around in her seat and got a little pink in the cheeks. "Uh, well, some of my story is actually classified, due to my...relationship to a hero in the employ of the US government." She looked like she'd just eaten a bug. "So I can't talk about that."

After a few seconds, she turned to Nevermore and smiled.

"But what I can say is that my senses are very keen and I can do this with my eyes-"

She held up one of her cheese fries and stared at it; then her eyes flashed an intense white, like you tried to look at the sun during an eclipse, and the fry was instantly charred to a cinder.

"Obviously a power like that is very dangerous; you have to train a lot to get precise control, and you cannot use that in ways that threaten civilians or would do undue harm to a suspect. If you get angry and burn off a criminal's arm-"

The blonde heroine shook her head vigorously, disturbed by the implications of her own abilities.

  7.

    Grimalkin

"One other possibility, or maybe more of a related one to one of the ones you guys mentioned, is they were working together but had a falling out. Bad boys aren't usually very good at playing together, any alliances tend to be very short lived as a result."

Grim wasn't too keen on Impact kicking the unconscious Wordsmith either, but declined to comment on it rather than dog piling the poor kid. She knew from personal experience how easy it was to push a young person away.

  8. Grimalkin

Grim chuckled at the lack of recognition from the young hero. "Yeah, I haven't been a big deal since like 2010; I keep going in and out of style."

    She waved cheerfully.

"I'm Grimalkin, the Mistress of Mystery! Nice to meetcha."

When Ghost mentioned the danger Wordsmith still posed, she drew a circle in the air with her finger, and both fallen villains were soon wrapped up in thick hemp rope, with a gag covering Wordsmith's mouth.

"This kid looks like a young up-and-comer," she said while pointing at Cheat Code. "Whereas anyone on your s### list-" And here she pointed at Ghost with a teasing smile. "Is probably what, mid-to-late 50s? How did they even know each other?"

  9. Grimalkin

"Yeah, it just took us a while," said Grimalkin as she slumped forward, resting her butt on a nearby car. "Who'da thunk a guy with such a goofy-ass shtick would be so tough?" She shook her head and held up a tiny fist. "Good hustle out there, people, good hustle! Let's hit the showers!"

  10. Grimalkin

A clearly very frustrated Grim growled from deep inside petite chest, sounding more like an angry leopard than a girl from Jersey.

"How the hell are you still standing?!"

She summoned a large mallet out of thin air, stripped in black and midnight blue like her costume, but with a stylized grinning cat on the front of the head. She then wound up like a batter at the plate and smacked Wordsmith upside the head with it, which somehow yielded a metallic CLONG.

  11. Grimalkin

Chimera could perhaps take some comfort in the fact that Wordsmith's bizarre attack had also slammed her erstwhile rescuer into the same Nissan Cube, leaving her own changeling-sized dent in the driver's side door.

    "Shit, that smarts!"

Prying herself out of car, Grim shook her head and snarled, showing of shape-shifting of a scary set nasty big pointy teeth. Jumping up in the air, she fllipped end over end before landing in a crouch before the word conjurer.

"Buddy, you are just super annoying, and I need you to shut the HELL UP!"

On the last phrase, the fae heroine's jaw stretched open impossibly wide and her face went full-on Captain Howdy, the transformation as sudden as it was terrifying.

  12. Okay, I'm trying to think of the best way to shut up Wordsmith. Could I power stunt Nullify by creating a gag made of glamour to wrap around his head? Or could Create Object or Snare already do that? Or maybe Paralyze?

  13. Casey wasn't entirely happy with the direction of this conversation; it made her painfully aware of how thin her own 'disguise' really was, and she didn't like what that made her think about. Luckily, their food arrived and Nevermore offered an excellent topic for a redirect.

"So what type of things has Raven been teaching you? You're very lucky to be receiving training from some of the best in the field, between Claremont, Terrifica and him."

    Mmm, this food was good!

  14. Grimalkin

Chimera heard a light thump behind her, as of someone dropping onto the roof of the car she was pinned to by Wordsmith's foul goo. "Ugh, you hate to see someone stuck to a Nissan Cube; it's such a stupid looking car!" The voice sounded young, female, and with a very strong South Jersey accent. Then there was a bit of a whoosh as a nimble figure clad in black and midnight blue did a backflip and landed before the symbiotic heroine. A tiny girl, barely over five feet, with spikey auburn hair and a domino mask, bowed deeply at the waist.

"Grimalkin, Mistress of Mystery, at your service! Let me get you out of this nightmare."

The fae heroine flicked out her hands, and wicked talons made of pure shadow appeared on her fingertips. With a feral growl, she leaped up into the air, and slashed the foul bindings from Chimera without so much as touching her.

"There you go, free as a bird! Now let's go f### these losers up, huh?" Her wink and eager grin suggested she was ready to play rough.

  15. Grim is going to appear next to Chimera, offer a quip, and then use her Dark Faerie Strike with Power Atack to hopefully cut her free!
