  1. Actually, that brings up a good question. I know the list is color coded, but there are some Refs out there that have not posted in a while. Is it possible to see a list of the Refs made so that we know who to PM with ideas and such? BTW, congrats VM ! May your life as one of the chosen be long and fruitful.
  2. Sammy reached the Craps table and placed his black bag on the table. He opened it wide to put his money inside. He smiled as he saw the Manager take a look inside of the bag. Even from Dorian's position, he could see the inside of the bag just as clearly as the manager. Perhaps Sammy had position the bag just so to offer the information. Inside the bag are what appears to be tools. Screwdrivers, pliers, and a few items that are used to deal with electonic equipment but nothing that could be used to affect the dice rolls. Each item in the bag is strapped to the edges to prevent them from moving about inside and leaving the main space free for other items. Sammy begins to picks up the money and fills that empty space in the bag, but his head does turn from side to side looking for the guards. Dorain turns slightly and sees two men move carefully towards the main entrance. The men are not dressed as bouncers, but their muscualr build and empty hands put them out of place. Two more men, this time dressed as bouncers, move over by the slot machines. Their position placed them directly on an easy intercept course for Sammy if he heads for the main entrance. Finished with loading his bag, Sammy zipped up the bag and put it on his back. Sammy walked slowly but surely towards the main entrance. As he entered the slot machine area, the two bouncers began moving towards Sammy. Sammy stopped at a slot machine and picked up a coin on the ground. He put the coin in the machine, pulled the handle and continued toward the main entrance while the two bouncers were coming up behind with only three machines between them. Suddenly, the machine blurted out in a loud ringing indicating a jackpot. Coins began to spill out of the unmanned machine unto the floor. The loud bells and whistles drew the attention of nearby people who quickly dashed for the fallen horde of money. It wasn't long before a mob of people had formed as a buffer between Sammy and the following bodyguards. Sammy looked back at the guards and smiled. One of the guards was suddenly hit from the side by a woman in a rush to get her share of the fallen coins, toppling the bouncer into a nearby slot machine. The blow was strong enough to knock the man ssenseless. That same machine wass knocked off balanced and tipped over into a roulette table. The force of the impact sent the roulette wheel flying free from the table only to hit the remaining guard in the head. He crumpled like a fallen log. Only when the two men were down did Sammy turn back towards the entrance. Sammy was still far from the two men guarding the door but he had obviously noted their presence. One of the men had unfortunately placed himself slightly too close to the door. From behind, the door opened by a sudden gust of wind, knocking the man off balance. He stumbled slightly before slipping on the roullette ball that had sailed to the entrance area. The guard hit the ground with a hard thud, the blow taking him out of the equation. Only one man stood before Sammy and freedom. Suddenly, the guard swatted his neck. He looked at his palm for a second before he began to wheeze. His face quickly turned red and he reached inside his jacket. The man removed a needle but succumbed to his condition. He dropped to the ground unconcious. Sammy stooped down and picked up the needle when he reached the man. He quickly injected the man before walking out of the door and freedom. The whole affair took less than a few moments but the chaos that had ensued was more than enough to make sure that Sammy would be long gone before anything could be done.

    The Mob

Actually, since both Grim and Nightrival are in the south area, I might have an idea of a short little game to play for you street hero types in a few days. I'll be using it to establish a few NPCs in the area. Hopoefully everyone will get into the habit and the world will grow.

  8. Lenny (created by MBCE; available for general use) If you need anything from information to general equipment, the person to talk to is Lenny. Lenny, his full name is unknown has made it his part in life to be in the know. Everyone in South Freedom knows that Lenny keeps his ears to the ground on all of the happenings between the various gangs and mafia organization. He is often called forth to be a neutral messenger between various factors. Lenny isn't a saint by any means, but he does try to keep a low profile with the various law enforcing groups that come his way. Lenny refrains from spilling information to the police unless he sees that an activity might endanger too many "civilians". Occasionally, he is paid by groups to "snitch" on opposing adversaries and everyone knows this. Lenny's attitude with supers is slightly different. He realizes that there is nothing to protect him from their strength, so he often hands out information to the street level heroes that happen to be in the area. He has had dealings with Foreshadow, but has come to not really like being surprised by the mysterious hero. Description Lenny is a weasel looking man that smiles a lot. First impressions of the man usually don't go well, but his reputation proceeds him. He is short, about 5'5" but very thin, with short cut brown straight hair. Lenny's clothing changes depending on what area he is in at the moment, sure to wear neutral colors and designs. He's quick to talk to new comers to learn more about them for business sake. Lenny knows his life depends on being honest with the people he works with so he keeps his word. If he promises to do something, he does it. Also, Lenny knows the value of keeping his mouth shut. Even under extreme duress, Lenny refrains from giving up information. In fact, trying to force him to give information causes him to 'clam' up more. Lenny is always looking for payment for his services which he uses to further his information network as well as building his own nest egg. Game Info Lenny can find out any basic information about gangs or mafia activities in South Freedom. (DC 15 or less) More detailed information, like exact plans and such, calls for more time and energy. (DC 20 checks) The most secretive points, like who is Silencer, or where does Foreshadow go in board walk is beyond his abilities. (No DCs above 20. They are beyond his ability) A DC 10 streetwise check will let you know that Lenny is the man in the know around South Freedom. A DC 15 check will let you know that he is frequently in the Boardwalk area. A DC 20 check will let you know that he has contacts with various gang and mafia groups. Lenny is able, for a price, able to get various mundane equipment for people. What is not able to get directly, he can send people to get in contact with. So for forgeries, he would send them to a forger to do the work. Lenny can also connect weapon deals with people if they are willing to pay him his commission.

  14. Sammy took his time in answering. His mind raced with a variety of thoughts. 'This guy is getting a little too close for comfort. I wanted attention from the mob, not some well to do industruial bigwig! How am I going to get out of this?' Sammy picked up his drink, and used it to cover his search around the casino for a way out of the present situation. Failing to hide his growing unease, Sammy lowered his glass and looked directly at Dorian. "I am no fool, Mr. Magnus, just new to town. It's always good to let the competition know you're in town before you start working," Sammy says as he unconciously places his hand on the black backpack by his side. the gesture was easily seen by Dorian. "You of all people understand, don't you? As for luck, well Lady Fortune has always been on my side. Oh, I agree about skill and preparation being important, but for me, Mr. Magnus, Lady Fortune is always on my side. She brought me to you, didn't she?" Sammy smiled as he saw the Manager set up his money over by the craps table. "It seems that they have my money ready, Mr. Magnus," he says as he finishes off the drink in one gulp. "I had better pick up my money and move on before they get the idea that they can short change me." Sammy stood and picked up his bag. "I'll let you in on a little secret, Mr. Magnus," Sammy says as he leans in to speak quietly into the man's ear. "For them to put me on a strecther, they'd have to first be able to catch a ghost." Sammy pulled back, his smile back in place. He bowed to the woman by Dorian and then to the bodyguard before moving to the craps table.

Oh I plan on having The Ghost all up in South Freedom. Since your hero has alreay made an appearance on the Boardwalk, you can sure bet we'll meet up. Right now, I plan on trying to flesh out the Mob in the city, mostly in the south of course! It should be fun to mix things up. Let me know when you are finished and you can bust up one of my crimes. :)

  23. 'Dorian....Dorian Magnus,' Sammy thought to himself, trying to remember where he had heard the name before. The sight of Stacy, causes Sammy to lose his traing of thought for a moment. "I'll have a long island," Sammy says as he starts to get the impression that something strange is going on here. He notes the guards and he frowns slightly, wondering what Dorian wanted with him. It isn't until the question comes out in the open, that Sammy knows he's in trouble. "Uh, trick? What trick would you be refering to, Mr. Magnus." Sammy's eyes shift from side to side. already looking to see how to escape the present situation. Something about the very rich man unnerved him greatly. 'Rich man......Dorian Magnus....' Sammy's eyes widen as he realized finally where he heard the name before. He had read about Dorian Magnus, the driving force behind Vulcan Technologies. Sammy's nervousness disappeared as he realized just who he was talking to. "Are you the Dorian Magnus of Vulcan Technologies?"
