  1. I am, but I would hazard a guess that we've stalled because we haven't figured out a common baseline for our sheets.

Edit: I see nothing disagreeable with the Guidebook entry and think its pretty rad, especially in regard to the mission statement being broad enough so that our knights can deal with anything from Space stuff to High Fantasy.

  2. Arrow's gonna play copycat and try Raven's sneak and bash approach.

Move Action: Sneakily moving across the walkway to be right above the southeast thug and hit him/her with her bow. Got a 12 on the Stealth Check, but since that's awful I'm going use another Luck point and try for something better. Got a 21

Free Action: Swapping Standard Arrows for Bow Strike on the Trick Arrows Array.

Standard Action: Attacking the southeast dude with the Bow Strike. Got a 15 on the Attack. That's a DC 23 vs. Toughness.

  3. Arrow IV

Arrow heard Raven's info despite the whisper and gave another nod in confirmation to the older hero. As the dark crusader did his thing, Arrow pondered how she'd go about dealing with the thigs on the ground. She obviously would have preferred to say on the walkway and sling her arrows, but there was always the off-chance that the thugs below weren't as deaf as they were stupid and would hear her shot go through the air giving her away. Having a least nine likely armed criminals trained on her unarmed body wasn't exactly her idea of a good time so she abandoned that route in the span of a few seconds.

The archer ran through her options. She could always take out her smokescreen arrow and use the darkness as a cover for her arrows, but that had its problems.  After all, even blinded thugs with guns could be lucky with a shot and the whole lot of firing would only add to that chance. It was no good either, but what about something more explosive? One of her explosive arrows might do the trick in regard with dealing with the thugs all at once but even that was problematic. She wasn't working alone here. Raven was already on the ground and there was very real possibility that he'd get hit in the blast range as well.

The teen hero groaned internally. Not matter what quick solution she came up with the slow and steady approach seemed to up out as the most prudent and effective if she wanted to avoid getting shot or spraying friendly fire. With that being the case, Arrow started to move out on the walkway with her bow tightly in hand. She quietly headed towards the spotted thug on the southeast part of the warehouse, crossing the first fork in the walkway and moving past the elevator until she was right above the crook.

With the push of a button on her bow it collapsed into something that approximated a staff, one perfectly capable of giving someone a rather nasty injury if applied to the right location on the body. Noting just how effective Raven's head-butt was when applied to the back of one of thugs, Arrow made that her target as she nimbly leaped off the walkway and swung her bow as she went down.

  4. Standard Action: Attacking Dazed thug with Taser Arrows. That's a Stun 5 attack for a DC 15 vs. Fortitude. The actual Attack roll is a 13 but since I'm not sure that's a hit I'm gonna burn another Luck point and try again. Got a 24.

If needed at all, her Stealth Check is 29.

  5. Arrow IV

Arrow had to give the dynamic duo of caped crusaders a silent nod of approval as she saw them make quick work of the two of the rent-a-creeps that were prowling the  rails. She may not have liked that Bowman felt the need to bring them along in some contrived training exercise, but she could at least respect the fact that they weren't incompetents.

Of course, that didn't mean they prefect like herself. The archer eyed the sole remaining thug who wasn't on the ground. The man was still standing, if only just barely, and Arrow pegged that a tough breeze would likely put him down. With that being the case, she opted to provide said breeze in the form of one of her taser arrows. She aimed the electric arrow at criminals torso and let it fly free.

  6. Knight: Sir Bedivere
Secret ID: Human Cis-Female. 20 year old university student. Kind of short. Caucasian and either a Brit or a proud Canuck schooling across the pond. Hair used to be blonde but turned bleach white when she got her magical abilities during her call to adventure. Eyes are naturally brown but change to a variety of colors whenever she's in Sir Bedivere mode. Totally not gonna steal the look of Sabrina. Nope. Definitely not.
Character Themes: MAGIC! But more importantly a quest for magical knowledge and self-knowledge. The learning and accepting pitfalls of the latter and the danger of the former, and avoiding both naivety and arrogance along the way. Really wants to react the plot of Sorcerer's Apprentice with Merlin.

    Extra Powers: MOAR MAGIC!
Armor Colors: Purple, black, and yellow stars.
Concept/Backstory: A college/university student and a real big nerd for the Arthurian Romance and fantasy. Likely the least physically capable member of the Round Table and one who prefers to handle things without resorting to swords. Has a weird relationship to her identify as the successor/reincarnation of the spooky Sir Bedivere. Really doesn’t want to be seen as a scary witch despite her powers being rather trippy and akin to 70s Doctor Strange. Would love to teach the magical arts to "normal" people make the whole art safe for the masses to practice. Kind of an Indiana Jones for magical artifacts and lore.

On 9/22/2020 at 5:30 PM, Amelia said:

Thrude's face softened. She clasped Astrid's forearm in a gesture of goodwill and gave her a slight smile. "I had thought thou look'd familiar to my eye as well. Indeed thou has the look of our father, though I worry 'tis a slight against you to say it. Thou art no greater 'bastard' than any of our brood, for it is not Jord who sits upon the throne of Asgard, nor Jarnsaxa who reigns at Thrudvangr. Our father no doubt sired thee during my long imprisonment at the hands of The Deceiver. I regret that we were kept apart for such an age. But 'tis a relief that the redemption of our family is a burden resting not entirely upon mine own shoulders."

Astrid wasn't one for touchy-feely nonsense, but she had to admit that finally being acknowledged by one of her divine family members wasn't the worst thing in the world. Still, the whole thing was rather awkward for her and the demigoddess had to suppress a blush. "Yeah, well, my mom wasn't a giant or a goddess so I think the bastard brand still applies to me, but thanks for the pick me up... sis."

The teen likely would have opened up a little bit more (as well as asked a ton of questions) if not for the fact that her sister was suddenly accosted by some rando with a beef with Odin and their dad.

    22 hours ago, Ecalsneerg said:

Arrowhawk tilted her head to one side, a slow smile appearing on her face. She took a slow deliberate step towards Thrude, creaking emanating from her bow where she gripped it hard enough to squeeze the wood. "Oh, I've no quarrel with coming to Midgard to fight monsters. The real quarrel was when your grandfather wouldn't treat with me and I ran out of the easy choices royalty are afforded. You see, a beast needed slain. And someone had to summon my father, who fulfilled his duty."

She slowly cocked her head the other direction, like a raptor eyeing a particularly tasty mouse. "I am no child to assign chores to. Yes, I am in debt to the Liar. And I am heir to Mjolnir's last wielder, I am the inheritor of my father's vigil, and I damn sure will not tolerate any Midgardian suffering at the hands of anything crawling down the Ygdrassil into this realm. And I do it because it is my vigil. Not because your family abdicated theirs long ago. Issue commands and threats to your own servants, Princess. But don't ever make the mistake of confusing me for one of them." One pale finger rapped at the pale hawk upon her breast, rapping against the dense armour. "I am the Arrowhawk. Or one of them, at least. It must be pleasant for you, to always walk in light. But the Arrowhawk bears the darkness, stands fast in it. Until dawn breaks." She took one step closer, unnaturally blue eyes fixing on Thrude's remaining one.

Her voice dropped to a murmur, almost a casual whisper between friends in the dark. Almost. "Threaten me again."

"Oh you don't have to worry about her threatening you again because I sure as Hel will." She placed herself between the two women and stared daggers at Osla, not caring in the least that Thrude looked more than capable of dealing with the archer herself. It was the sisterly principle of the thing, after all. Moreover, Astrid was still mildly buzzed, which meant her already lackluster decision-making skills weren't exactly back in top form.

"I don't know who the Hel you are but you best step off right now from my sister before I stick my club right up your bony arse!"

  8. Arrow will burn a Hero Point to add a new Alternate Power to her Device/Trick Arrow Array.

Stun 4 "Injector Arrows" (Extras: Range [Ranged], Sleep [+0]; Feats: Improved Critical 2 [18-20], Subtle 1) [15] (Piercing, Poison)

Move Action: Go forward from wherever she was in the office and fully open the door she she can have a clear shoot of the dude directly north of said door.

Standard Action: Attacking aforementioned dude north of the door with the above subtle Stun 4 power. I got a 30 on attack and a crit to boot! With the crit, that's a DC 19 vs. Fort for the north X. Not sure if it's a surprise attack as well.

If needed, the Stealth Check is 27.

  9. Arrow IV

Seeing that Raven was rightfully giving her the go ahead to act, Arrow moved forward and past the older hero to get to the office door that separated all three of them from the wider building. Lightly pushing the mostly open door fully with the utmost caution, the teen hero slowly but surely opened it entirely until it was enough for her to actually take a shot.

Said shot would be targeted towards the goon was directly ahead her on the catwalk. Begrudgingly knowing that stealth was still their best option at this point, she decided to retrieve one her rarer attachments from her utility belt and apply to her selected arrow. The injector arrows may not have had as much punch as her taser arrows, but their fast-acting poison did tend to keep someone down for longer when they did manage to take hold. Arrow banked on that being the case here as she pulled back on her bowstring and launched the arrow right at the unsuspecting criminal.

  10. Astrid turned her ailing head to whoever thought it would be a great idea to start screaming. Despite the fact that the yelling wasn't exactly helping her pounding headache, the teen did notice something oddly familiar about the newcomer. Of course, it was only when she actually started to listen to what she was saying that she realized that her tired eyes was almost definitely staring at family.

"Hellig dritt," she swore aloud, not caring a bit that the increasing number of arrivals could probably understood what she just said unlike most of her American friends and schoomates.

At that moment, Astrid felt strangely under-dressed. She had rainbow-bridged all the way here with the clothes she had worn the previous night: a studded black leather jacket that had seen better days, torn black jeans and a Darkthrone band shirt underneath the jacket. It was her trademark look, but it was hardly 'meet new family members' attire. Then again, Astrid wasn't exactly one for formality, especially when it came to overly traditional Aesir customs and acceptable modes of dress. In the end, the teen figured that Thrude would be an ass like most of the other stuffy Asgardians she'd meet in Asgard or actually cool like Sanngriðr. Either way it was best to know that know rather than later.

With that blithe disregard in mind, the demigoddess forgot about Odin's ravens and walked right up to her might-be-sister with a plastered grin on her face and started speaking to her in accented English. "Yo! Thrude, ja? Heard about you. Sort of. Heard rumors about at least. Oh, and I heard about you through the myths. Alvíssmál, right? Though I guess you can't really call them myths when Asgard is totally real, ja? Whatever. Not important. Point is I know who you are. Or at least I think I do?" Astrid rubbed her face as if doing so would make her feel less stupid. "Screw it, I'm wasting time here. Look, you say your Thrude and the daughter of Thor, god of thunder and deadbeat dads, right? Well, if that's true than that means I'm your sister by half."

Not really knowing what to really say or do know, the teen decided to go for levity and introduce herself to her sister with false pomp and a bow. "Astrid Torsten, bastard daughter of Thor and some mortal, at your service."

  11. Ms. Thursday

Odin's Call had been sent and all the champions of Asgard and the Aesir had heard the message.

Unfortunately, Astrid Torsten could not be bothered to responded to it as she was presently face down on an old leather sofa that one of her new American friends in Freedom City had allowed her to crash on the previous night.

She was passed out cold. A pretty impressive feat given her Asgardian physiology, but even the blood of the gods had its limits. Almost an entire month's worth of constant parties with friends and follow rockers celebrating the beginning of her senior year at Claremont had turned out to be one of those limits.

Not that Odin would care about.

Astrid still heard the call reverberating in her tired skull, but her response to it though wasn't exactly an eager leaping into action. "Drit og dra," she groaned, grabbing at nearby pillow and wrapping it around her ears to block out the Call. It didn't work.

"Rævhål," Realizing that she couldn't win, the demigoddess got up and went to looking for Porrklubba, the weapon having been left unattended in the basement she was currently in. Leaving an all-powerful Aesir superweapon laying about like that may not have been the most cleverest decisions Astrid had ever made, but given the weapon's enhancement that made it so that only she could lift the weapon she figured it would be no real problem.

Fortunately, she was right about that, and she quickly found it deep within the leathery depths of the  sofa she had just been crashing on. With a sigh on her lips, Astrid held the warclub up high and muttered ancient Norse words of power that called forth the glittering energies of the Bifrost. In a flash of rainbow light she was gone from the basement and atop the Holmenkollen with the two waiting ravens.

"Alright, alright. What the Hel do guys want form me this time?"

  12. Arrow IV

Arrow's eyes narrowed as she saw Nevermore infiltrate into the building. Bowman asked her to 'play nice' but she was finding that hard to do with the acute feeling of being showed up by Raven's sidekick gnawing at the back of her mind. Of course, such emotions were beneath her, which is exactly why Arrow pretended she didn't have them as she mechanically readied herself to follow right after him.

Seeing that there wasn't any black smoke coming out of the window, Arrow quickly retrieved her grapple arrowhead from her utility belt and attached it to the headless shaft of one of her arrows. The archer got up from her position on the roof and fired the arrow at the nearby building, making sure that it landed exactly a few metres away from the window Nevermore just sneaked into. The result was the creation of a zip-line that Arrow promptly hooked herself into using her bow as a spool to immediately transport her to the other building.  After that it was only a matter of activating her costume's tractable gloves and soles to scale the building, take down the inconspicuous zip-line, and crawl into the window after Nevermore.

  13.

Olivia's eyes narrowed as stuffy rabbit girl seemed to barely pay her any mind. In the end, instead of making a big thing about it, the archer just assumed that the girl was a weird space case with a lackluster attention span and an eight-year old’s appreciation for stuffed animals. Or at least she would have if it wasn't for the fact that said space case walked right up to her and started spewing some nonsense about knowing who designed one of her coffee tables.

Now that got her attention. Mostly because the man who made the antique was a French woodworker who had been dead more than sixty years. She could easily blown that off too as nonsense and went back to supervising the movers, but the Olivia’s Veronica Mars wasn’t having any of that when interesting questions could be asked instead. Also, there was the whole teleporting business, but Olivia had seen half-a-dozen of those zapping in Claremont just by walking up to the floor.

She abandoned the movers and strode right into Room 410 and braved the god-awful Swift music that was playing. While there were already a small crowd of people in the dorm, Olivia didn’t bother to introduce herself to any of them. Instead, she continued on her way until she found the girl was looking for and properly made an introduction that would hopefully get into her good graces. “Sorry, but the mood malfunction back there. Days been kind of hectic with the move and think I the lack of expresso in my system has got me kind of fired. Tots not a good enough reason to be spazz, but I’m not that judgmental,” she said kindly, the apology only really being less than a quarter sincere, but performed well enough that it would have been hard tell.

“By the way, how did you know about the table? Hate to pry, but the carver who made it passed way back and he wasn’t exactly well known outside of certain circles who knew how to appreciate good work. You some kind of necromancer? Because I know a couple photographers I'd love to met if you were,” she joked.

  14. Astrid bobbed her head as she listened to Veronica and Micah's suggestions. Altogether it was a decent plan and while she still wasn't entirely confident on her ability to rearrange the weather to suit their needs, it still seemed like the best idea they had available given the circumstances. "Yep. Sounds good. Bouncing is kind of a head trip, but it makes sense for what we need to be doing. I'll take for a minute to get Porrklubba good and proper ready but it shouldn't be to-"

The Asgardian was cut off by the sound of mass feet stomping the ground. Immediately turning her head to see the approaching sound, her eyes were met with the sight of a honest-to-goodness dinosaur made its presence known from beyond the jungle canopy. "Forbausende!" She beamed out, excited beyond all relief to see the prehistoric animal and obviously not caring at all that the megafauna could be threat. After all, compared to dragons and giants, dinosaurs weren't all terrifying.

  15. Arrow IV

Arrow's cocky grin turned into a frown as she heard her mentor deconstruct her plan. It was hardly the first time that Bowman had a disagreement with her totally logical and well-thought out ideas, but it was first time he had done with an audience of onlookers around. It was frustrating, but Arrow kept her cool and stopped herself from  making half-a-dozen counterarguments that would have had the four of them debating tactics and strategics all night while the goon squad below offloaded their cargo.

Plus, it wasn't exactly impossible that she might have been off about this plan in the first place. Unlikely, of course, but it could happen.

She said as much to Bowman. I see your point. Maybe the bait plan is a bit... presumptive when it comes to how likely we could pull it off without someone getting hurt." The admission tasted like gravel in her mouth, but her mind quickly moved on from that to Charlie's obvious challenge to her.

"I'm not sure," she says nonchalantly, readying her bow as she matched Nevermore's sly challenge with her own. "This is hardly the time for games. Plus, I wouldn't want to embarrass you."

  16. Arrow

Olivia looked on coldly as a small army of movers her mother had hired went about placing several thousand dollars worth of furniture and clothing into her packed dorm. The excess of bringing a whole crew with her was one of the many perks of being a Lord. After all, if she was going to be living her here for the next three years she was going to do so in the lifestyle she was accustomed too. Directing the moving crew was hardly one of the great challenges of her life but she found the experience to be trying in just how dull and mundane it was. Even throwing out the occasional "watch it" or "no, not there" to the hired help had lost its luster, petty as it was.

She was frankly bored out of her skull, which was the exact opposite feeling she wanted to have when moving into a school for the extraordinary and gifted.

The teen sighed as she finally turned her back to the crew and let them go about their business undirected, her eyes now searching the hall for something worth her time. Her green eyes eventually landed on a girl who was either incredibly brave or astounding stupid enough to strap a stuffed rabbit to her belt for everyone to see. Olivia landed on astounding stupid when the girl started to ask the most oblivious of questions. Olivia couldn't help but poke her for it.

"Well, if you bothered to pay attention you would know that we were finally the getting the full Claremont welcome." She says sardonically before turning her gaze to the greeter in question. "So besides making platitudes do you anything actually important to say or is that to much to hope for?"

  17. Arrow IV

Arrow returned Nevermore's grin with a roll of her eyes. Without saying a word, the young heroine retrieved a pair of seemingly normal looking sunglasses from her utility belt and swiftly slipped them on, her domino mask linking up with the new eyewear without a fuss. With a single tap of her finger, the glasses came alive and developed a green-tint and pop-up display that made it all easier to see what was going around the nearby warehouse. After a few seconds of doing her own observations and analysis, Olivia finally saw fit to look Nevermore's way again.

"A lot actually," she tells him in a clipped Mid-Atlantic accent that barely avoids sounding disparaging. "If Bowman is right then there's likely more than a dozen dullard malefactors in there. If that's the case them splitting up three ways when we have such a disadvantage seems pretty injudicious since it could easily get us in the very situation we want to inflict on them. But I don't think the divide and conquer is completely the wrong approach," she says with a shrug that seems to be trying to convey mild kudos but just comes across as condescending. "Instead of either Bowman or I taking the skylight, both of us can stake out here and form a sniper's nest wait while you and Raven motivate the aforementioned malefactors to come out of their little warehouse and right into our sights." She waved a hand indicting the both of them without really looking at them. "You seem adamant to go in there and try the stealth approach. Fine by me, but things would go smoother and faster if you acted as a set-up for our ambush out here. Concentrated fire won't be a problem if the idiots are both running in the dark and too busy running scared from the dynamic duo that is you and Raven."

Her explanation said and done, the archer looked towards her mentor with a cocky grin of her own, fully expecting his support and praise for the plan.

  18. Seeing Dreamer conjure another object out of thin, Courtney nearly went into yet another spree of questions on the nature of her powers. Fortunately, she stopped herself before doing so and instead simply took the offered paper and immediately filed its numbers to her digitized memory. The questions could always afterwards. After all, being able to ask follow-up questions was one of the many perks of making a new friend and ally.

"The feelings mutual," Courtney responded, her face beaming with a smile despite the seriousness of the conversation. "MarsTech has a small army of superpowered fame chasers out there and I don't see them smarting up anytime soon. Having someone out there to call upon when things get dicey is definitely a load off my mind. Speaking of which, you probably want my own contact number too." The android pulled out a SIM card from her costume and passed it over to the other hero. "Put this into any smart phone and call the number that pops up. I'll be where you need me to be as fast as I can."

    spacer.pngspacer.png

    Physical Appearance:

Olivia is a teenage girl who manages to cut an imposing presence despite her youth. Blessed with her mother’s “well-bred” looks as opposed to her father’s, Olivia has intelligent hazel-green eyes, high cheekbones, slim shoulders, and honey blonde hair. Though she changes her hairstyle regularly, she’s currently cropped her hair into a layered pixie cut. While not especially tall, she is rather willowy, making it all the easier for her to look down on people. Years of gymnastics and other competitive sports have made her athletic and nimble, honing her body into a slender wiry figure. When it comes to her moods, she is often seen wearing a bored expression on her face, as if she’s seen it all and is very unimpressed by whatever or whomever is currently trying to get her attention.

Olivia shifts her speech depending on who she is talking to, going from modern day teen vernacular to clipped and verbose East Coast elite on the given social situation. Which is more true to herself is up to debate, but even in the former persona she is never insipid and enjoys peppering her speech with ten-dollar words that are either archaic or largely exclusive to the rich circles of the old money elite. This is especially true when in her Arrow alter-ego, wherein she greatly enjoys taunting criminals with her advanced verbiage.

While the newest in designer clothes and fashion are always readily available in her considerable wardrobe, Olivia tends not to go with whatever is currently in vague, relying instead on her own favored aesthetics and tastes. Said tastes are decidedly of the high-class preppy look, her attendance in various elite prep schools in the American Northeast having been a major influence. Plaid blazers and skirt combos, along with argyle sweaters and chiffon button-ups with either bow broaches or pearl necklaces as accessories are some of her favorite ensembles.

Olivia’s Arrow costume is a sleek black form-fitting unitard streaked with pink stripes. A pair of durable pink kneepads, long nylon gloves, black leather combat boots, and a gadget-filled utility belt complete the costume. It only has a passing resemblance to current Bowman’s own costume or the various Arrows that came before her but does possess an arrowhead insignia on its chest to denote her connection to the storied Bowman legacy. Designed to allow for a greater range of bodily movement over physical protection, the suit is made out of an experimental synthetic fiber over traditional spandex, the former material being even more flexible, and far more durable, than the latter. When it comes to protecting her civilian identity, her costume comes with a classic black domino mask and a black wig to match.

    History:

The prestigious and well-to-do Lord family has had a presence in Freedom City since its earliest days as a British colony. That’s what they claim anyway, and lo to anyone who argues against that historical “fact” to one of Freedom City’s self-proclaimed founding families. Regardless of the truth of their claims, the Lords have maintained her influence on the city through the centuries by virtue of their ownership of some of its most profitable estate properties along with a litany of other lucrative ventures. That stranglehold on the fortunes of Freedom City changed extraordinarily little by the time Olivia’s father, Robert Lord, inherited his own father’s billion-dollar fortune when he took over the family business.

Like his father before him, Robert was taught the Lord family virtues of hard work, discipline, and ruthless ambition, virtues that, for better or worse, he rigorously installed in his own children as well. Though born and raised in the lap of leisure in Freedom City’s affluent North Bay neighborhood, to say that Olivia strongly took up and internalized these demanding values would be an understatement. The literal middle child in her family, Olivia strove to stand out amongst her siblings, if only to garner her parents hard earned attention if not their love.

Even at an exceedingly young age, she willed herself to be the best at whenever new activity she believed would catch her parents’ eye attention. From competitive gymnastics to archery to taekwondo to even linguistics, Olivia excelled, winning various national competitions in those fields and others, and doing so with the same determination that her family’s legacy and expectations demanded of her. It was an endeavor made all the easier by her natural aptitude to almost anything she put her mind to. The fact her parents could afford some of the best trainers and instructors in the country certainly helped in that regard as well. For the Lords family having the best at their disposal and being the best was simply a given.

Unfortunately, along her with such success, came an arrogance that only grew as Olivia got older and earned more awards and accolades. While the runners-up at her competitions probably suffered it the most it was those who she went to school who most often had to deal with her less than stellar personality. Using a mix of her own talents, reputation, and force of personality, Olivia reigned supreme in the social jungle that was Freedom City’s finest prep schools, becoming something of a local legend (and terror) in those student bodies. Those who didn’t meet her standards were promptly labeled as beneath her and worry of ridicule. After all, her father never let her forget any one of her mistakes or failures. Why should any of her peers get any slack? That was Olivia’s life for most of the first half of her teens, one she stubbornly kept to even as she grew increasingly unsatisfied and bored with it.

Things would only change when Olivia’s father suddenly disappeared from their mansion home in North Bay without a trace. Olivia knew that her father’s “extended business trips” often had very little to do with anything professional, but when he still remained gone after a week it became obvious that something had gone amiss. Olivia’s mother opted to resort to hiring discreet private investigators that could look into the disappearance without the possible scandal and fallout that could come from alerting the police.

However, their investigation quickly amounted to little despite the considerable amount of money dropped for it. Exasperated with their lack of progress, and feeling increasingly afraid for her father’s life, Olivia started her own investigation looking into where he could possibly be. Having taken note of her father’s strange absences and behavior even before his disappearance, she was able to roughly discern a few places where he could possibly be in Freedom City. Of course, either her mother or her hired detectives were sold on the investigative skills of a teenager and only paid condescending lip service to her theories while still chasing their own slip leads. Fed up, Olivia took to the search personally, secretly scooping out her list of locations and writing them off one by one until she finally found herself outside a little-known club in Lantern Hill.

A sojourn to snag some pictures of the club almost immediately devolved into something more dangerous as she spotted one its bouncers with a diamond ring that strikingly resembled the one her father always wore. Curiosity and pride got the best of her then and she took the less than pragmatic choice of sneaking into the club and verifying her suspicions before alerting her mother. Stupid as it was, she actually managed to infiltrate the place without notice and found a series of occupied cells underneath, one which had her very drugged and very out-of-it father within. There reunion was cut short though by the appearance of several goons suddenly arriving to take stock of their captured clientele.

Despite not having brought any weapons, Olivia was able to hold her own against the criminals that tried to bind her for a considerable amount of time. Chances were that good fortune won’t have lasted for that long, but as luck would have it wouldn’t need to. Just as she was about to done in by the crooks, the Bowman himself raided the cells with bow and arrow in hand! In record time, the archer had the bouncers put down but not before Olivia was able to help drop one that nearly got the drop on him.

After the club’s victims were successfully released from their cells and the police alerted, Bowman explained that he had been investigating a rash of disappearances amongst Freedom City’s monied elite for months, having finally been able to connect the dots to the club when he realized that the infamous Usher clan was behind them. While he still couldn’t tell her what they had in mind for her father and the others, he did at least tell Olivia that he was impressed by her determination. He was even more impressed though when she correctly guessed at his true identity. Olivia recognized the person behind the mask as Fletcher Beaumont, a man she knew since childhood, having seen him a great many times at the various high-class functions and parties held by her father.

What happened next was a series of intense negotiations and arguments that eventually ended in Olivia narrowly convincing an apprehensive Fletcher to take her own as his first sidekick. While the two didn’t exactly have the easiest partnership despite their similar status, Olivia did prove to be an implacable student, picking up the practical points of being the new Arrow with stunning speed even as they trained in secret. Even still, Fletcher saw in her something that reminded him of his own overly self-assured youth. Seeing that his own stay in Claremont Academy helped him mature to be more level-headed, he maneuvered to get his apprentice enrolled in the superhero academy despite her lack of powers. Olivia’s own thoughts on the matters were mixed, but she’s never been one to sleep on an opportunity enhance her skills and make some useful connections, especially when those connections could potentially help her find out more about the House of Usher.

    Personality & Motivation:
Olivia was born to money and privilege and it shows. She can be haughty in a way that is both parts unpleasant and awe-inspiring in its self-confidence. She often comes across as cold and aloof and knows it, leaning into her persona as a dominating Ice Queen who can eviscerate someone with a snide remark. Of course, like all lot of teenagers, much of this need for control is rooted in a seemingly paradoxical inferiority-superiority complex, one formed as a result of her parents’ high expectations. Accordingly, she’s believed for most of her life that there were only two types of people in the world: The haves and have-nots, with her family conveniently being in the former category by virtue of their infamous work ethic and ruthless ambition. Olivia’s desire to stay firmly out of the latter category, along with her other hang-ups, is one of the main reasons for why she is such an obsessive perfectionist and competitor.

While her obsessive need to win runs deeper than even she’d care to admit, she does have something approximating a softer side. While not exactly big on admitting when she’s wrong, she is willing to admit her flawed preconceptions and is always willing to give credit and respect to those who earn it by virtue of their actual merit. She’ll still try to one day surpass them, of course, but she’ll never deny their talents. This is especially true when it comes to artistic photography, a hobby and possible future career that she’ll unapologetically geek out over.

Much of Olivia’s motivation for becoming Arrow is tied up in less than admirable desires. The first being her vendetta against the villains who wronged her family, and the other her near pathological need to succeed at whatever she puts her mind to.  While training under Bowman has mellowed her out somewhat, installing in her a sense of greater responsibility and even mild humility, whether it will actually be the catalyst for greater change is still very much up in the air.

    Powers & Tactics:
Olivia has no powers to speak of (beyond being incredibly wealthy) and relies on years of acrobatics training and her tutelage under Bowman to be a match for the villains she faces as Arrow. As her codename would suggest, Olivia is an archer whose signature weapon is equipped with an assortment of trick arrows that run the gambit of military-grade armaments. Beyond her bow, Olivia also makes use of a utility belt, which is filled with useful gadgets, like night-vision shades and grappling devices.

Given her weapon of choice, Olivia prefers to fight opponents at a long or mid distance. When that optimal situation isn’t readily possible, she’ll either use her natural speed and agility to transition into a better position or jump into the fray herself and rely on her acumen in martial arts to put someone down as quickly as possible. Given  how relatively fragile she is though, she tends to avoid getting herself caught in melee or in a location that would impede her ability to get out of a tight spot quick.

    Power Descriptions:

Olivia’s standard arrows are carbon steel tipped broadheads with shafts made out of a hybrid mix of aluminum and carbon fiber. The combination makes it so that her arrows are both lightweight and precise while in flight, making them all the more effective at reaching their target. All her standard arrows tips are fitted to be easily equip-able with an array of diverse add-ons. On account of Olivia being entirely human, all her abilities are either the result of training or a product of her technological devices.

    Complications:

Legacy Hero (Responsibility): Olivia is the newest bearer of the Arrow name and one half of Freedom City’s most respected duo of archer heroes. This also means she has to shoulder the immense expectations and responsibilities that come with such a legacy. GM Suggestion: Give Olivia a Hero Point if she’s put into a tense situation where she has to live up to the Arrow legacy or is specifically targeted by the Bowman’s enemies due to her association with the proud line of superheroes.

Blueblood (Reputation): The Lord family name is both parts respected and maligned when it comes to its colored reputation in Freedom City. Many people consider them to be modern day robber barons and upper-class snobs underserving of their considerable wealth and privilege. GM Suggestion: You can give Olivia a Hero Point if her family’s infamy and/or celebrity status somehow impairs her ability to be a superhero or gets her caught up in some kind of old money feud.

Mean Girl (Temper): Despite having something of an epiphany, Olivia is still a smart-ass teen who can be rather arrogant and condescending when it comes to addressing those she considers beneath her. Most of the times this antipathy is directed to those who “deserve it,” but other times it's most certainly not. GM Suggestion: Consider giving Olivia a Hero Point when her elitist attitudes get her into trouble that otherwise that could been avoided with a more empathetic and humble attitude.

To All the Boys Girls I've Loved Before (Prejudice): Olivia is open a lesbian who has no issues admitting that fact to her yourself and others. Consequences and assholes be damned. GM Suggestion: Consider giving Olivia a Hero Point if her sexuality results in her being accosted, harassed, or otherwise inconvenienced by bigots who are aware of it.

Aren’t You… (Secret): Like most heroes Olivia has a civilian identity that she wants to protect. While her costume and altered mannerisms while on patrol help in this regard, it still doesn’t change the fact that her face is recognizable to those familiar with the Freedom City’s old money elite. GM Suggestion: Consider giving Olivia a Hero Point if members of the paparazzi, reporters, or other Freedom City socialites are able to correctly guess at Olivia’s identity.

Out of Arrows! (Detriment): Like all the Bowman and Arrows before her, Olivia’s weapon of choice is both her greatest strength and most obvious liability. While her quiver is chock-full of trick arrows, the fact remains that she can only bring a finite supply of them whenever she goes out on patrol, never mind the possibility of having her bow or quiver out of reach in a fight. GM Suggestion: If the GM is a kind sort, they may consider giving Olivia a Hero Point in the event she loses access to her bow or runs out of trick arrows.
