Some time later...

Heavy flies in over the neighbourhood, returning from the grab - it's past midnight now, making it's way back to dawn. The streets in this area are mostly dark, but it's easy to see the building where Heavy first got this job - there are lights on inside. Adam Kirk has given little to no resistance the whole way there and the ground seems free from onlookers or competition. The morning air is still and formless.

When Kirk starts crying, Heavy feels bad for the guy. Usually, the sight of a man crying doesn't stir him. There's plenty of people who'll cry after something valuable of theirs gets stolen. Most of them usually have it insured, and they're not out anything more than money. But Kirk's crying about people who died, and honestly, Heavy can't blame him. There's a reason that he doesn't kill people. It's just not right. He'd chuckle at himself - a supervillain, thinking about things not being right - but the circumstances suck any humor out of the thought. Villain he may be, but he still has things he won't do.

What can he do, though? He can't bring the people back to life, and releasing Kirk would just mean that another villain would take him in. At least he's going to be gentle about it.

He lands near the building after scanning the area to make sure that there's no one around, ready to ambush him. When he's satisfied, he will step inside, Kirk still with him.

When Heavy steps inside, he sees the same two men he saw at the earlier. When he enters, they both look up from their card game. Initially alert, the two relax when they see who it is and recline back into their chairs. The familiar 'click...click...click...' of the thin man's pez dispenser can be heard in the initial silence. Seemingly out of character, it is the big one who speaks first, "Welcome back. I had a feeling it might have been you who came back with the prize."

"Fine. Here he is. Now do I need to find somebody who signed your list first, or will you pay me direct anyway?" Heavy asks. His manner is brusque, trying to cover up the growing sense of unease he feels for having associated with a killer. Even though he didn't know what he was at the time, his Catholic guilt is doing its best to make him responsible for what the other man did. Kirk's reactions to the events of this evening certainly aren't helping matters.

The two men rise and begin to walk toward Heavy. The thin man's thin voice rings clear, "The big man here may have liked your chances up until this point, but I don't like your chances of getting any further - we had rules. You broke them." They round on Heavy, looking aggressive. Adam Kirk speaks, his voice strained, "Whatever you're being paid, I can double it. Let me go and you'll be scot free and rich - you'll be heroes!".The thin man interrupts, "Shut up!" He looks back at Heavy, "You aint special, you know. You're a walkin' tin can. I reckon it's about time we peeled back the lid." Before he can make a move, however, a voice rings out loud in the room, or is it just in everyone's mind? Although there is no body, the voice is that of an old man - an old and angry man, "Quit your showboating. Bring them both here - I want to take a look at this... Man." The thin man begins to protest but is cut short, "Just do it! Time is of the essence here, after all. No more delays." The two goons stand for a moment, eyeing Heavy before the thin man directs Heavy's attention to the back of the room. He smiles as a shark might, "Right this way, sir."

Heavy glances around the room, trying to see where the voice had come from. The thin man's sudden helpfulness probably means trouble for him down the road, but like he thought before - what else can he do now? The man's been kidnapped, and there's at least two people who think that they're capable of bringing him down. Even though he thrives on being underestimated, their confidence is unnerving, to say the least.

He keeps Kirk over his shoulder - facing forward, so he can see what's coming - and walks deeper into the building. He follows the henchman of the unseen villain, making sure that they're bringing him, rather than shoving him into a trap. An obvious trap. Some days, it just doesn't pay to get out of bed.

The two men lead the way for Heavy in relative silence, the thin man looking back every few minutes to deride the armoured villain. They take him to the back of the building, into a small room strewn with boxes and debris where they close the door behind them. The thin man moves to the back of the room and fumbles with the back of a crate, "Goin' down." There is the sudden sensation of movement all around them. The big man reclines on a box whilst the little man keeps his eyes, rather disconcertingly, on Heavy. Before long, the movement stops, and the wall in which heavy and the goons came through opens, revealing a large, well lit room. The room is obviously underground, with two of the walls and the ceiling made of Earth. The third wall, directly across from the room where Heavy is made of metal. The large door on this metal wall opens and two, very familiar looking men walk out. A heavy set man and a thinner one who is busy with his pez dispenser. The two near Heavy walk out to greet them. They all turn back to Heavy, a pair of pairs. The two thin men talk in unison, "What's 'a matter, tin man? Seein' double?" They indicate for Heavy to follow them through the large door.

Underground. There's something about it that gives him the willies. Even though he knows that he could probably survive if the whole mass of earth collapsed on him, there's no guarantee that he'd be able to dig himself out. Trying to make a spatial anomaly is hard enough in air, and air mostly gets out of the way. He might not be able to teleport out of that before he starved to death. He shudders involuntarily, which probably delights the twin thin men.

Looking back at them, he resists the urge to slam them to the ground. Just as well that they think him a simple man in a simple machine. He's capable of much more than they could ever dream of. For now, he'll be their catspaw. He carries Kirk into the room ahead.

Heavy is led down a small metallic hallway with doors in the walls every so often. Every now and then, dirt and earth can be spotted through the floor or ceiling. There's also some kind of weird track on the ceiling - a metal grove in the roof. What's more, on two sperate occarions he and his four keepers walk past two men going in the opposite direction. These men look and act exactly the same as the big and thin men he met earlier, and that now escort him up the hall.

He's taken to the end of the hall, through a final metal door and finds himself in a room that looks very much like an infirmary. There is all manner of hospital equipment around, plus some very high tech looking machinery. The whole room has a very sterile look to it. There are three people in this room - two are dressed like doctors, but Heavy can see that they're just more versions of the big and thin men, and one man sits placidly in a large, out of place looking chair at the far end of the room. This incredibly gaunt man has a gravity about him. He's leaning forward, staring unblinkingly at Heavy. It's now that the armoured villain sees that the man seems to be hooked up to some cords that extend from him, through the chair, to the roof. These chords enter the track that Heavy had seen earlier. Finally, although the voice seems to echo from everywhere at once, and even though the old man's ips don't move, Heavy is certain that it's he that speaks, "Put Kirk on the table."

Heavy looks back and forth within his helm, not moving his head. He takes a step back towards the wall around the doorway, making sure that no one can surprise him from behind. They might have been twins before - some villains are weird like that, and hire some sort of theme for their henchmen. Once he starts to make his way into sets of identical triplets, then quadruplets, there's definitely something weirder going on. Clones, maybe? Either way, this has changed from holding someone for ransom to something more sinister.

"What are you going to do to him? I said I'd kidnap the guy, but I figured it was for money. You're not going to steal his organs or something, are you?" Heavy says.

At the mention of harvested organs, there's a gasp from Kirk, but he remains still. Either he's frozen in fear or he's biding his time and waiting for an opportunity to escape. An opportunity that will probably never come.

In the meantime, without moving in his body or face, the old man replies "That's really none of your business, but in the interest of keeping things civil, no, we do not intend to harvest his organs. In fact, as soon as you do as you're told and put the man on the table, my men here will see to it that he doesn't have any external damage at all."

The two big men who helped escort Heavy to this room move casually toward the door. They're not making any moves to block the exit yet, just shuffling to cover space.

Heavy smirks to himself. They had said they wanted him undamaged. He figured that was because they didn't want to hurt him so that it was only the regular assault and kidnapping - that doesn't get the cops riled. There's something about the way that the old dying man said (thought?) what he just heard that leaves him cold. Whatever the guy plans, it seems worse than anything that Heavy would want to be involved in. Before he makes any further moves, he speaks to the man. Even if he intends to betray the guy, he might as well also get paid for it.

"Before I do that, you said something about a lot of money. I'd like to see some of that before I hand him over," he says.
