    Godiva's Goods

Player Name: Godiva Character Name: Lotus Power Level: 7 (105/105PP) Trade-Offs: -1 Attack / +1 Damage, -1 Defense / +1 Toughness Unspent PP: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: What if Rogue had powers that didn't kill people, just messed with their head? And was in a high school for supers? Alternate Identities: Caresse Brown Identity: Secret Birthplace: Austin, Texas Occupation: High School Student Affiliations: Claremont Academy Family: Janice Brown (mother) Age: 16 (DoB: July 1995) Apparent Age: (if applicable) Gender: Female Ethnicity: African-American Height: 5'10" Weight: 160 lbs Eyes: Brown Hair: Black Description: Caresse is a very tall girl with a lithe figure. There is some muscle behind it, enough to fill her out into an athletic build. Her skin is a darker shade of brown, a light chocolate color. Her hair is long enough that she keeps it in short pony tail most of the time. Her clothing consists of darker colors, namely the dark blue end of the spectrum. She loves wearing long shorts and tanktops. The costume looks like a solid dark blue seamless bodysuit that covers her entire body up to her neck, barring her hands. Instead, her hands have black fingerless gloves covering and protecting them, while maintaining manual dexterity with her sword. Despite its seamless appearance, she can take it off and on with a quick pull thanks to the morphic molecules that compose the outfit. While her feet are already covered by the costume, she wears a pair of heavy-duty combat boots over them to both add variety to her look, and give extra protection to her feet. Power Descriptions: Her costume protects her from harm due to the science of the morphic molecules. Her sword is a simple unadorned katana with a sheath. She can project emotions on to others and sense everything around her due to the terminus energy infecting her birth. This is amplified emotion. Happiness is straight euphoria. Fear and despair are not pretty sights to look upon. Her projecting emotions is signified by color. Calm is white. Despair is black. Happiness is purple. Hope is Blue. Fear is yellow. Hate is red. She can turn off the colors if she wishes, which she does most of the time. Her sensing everything around her isn't really noticeable at all except to her. History: Janice Brown was born during the Terminus Invasion in 1965. She was infected with Terminus energy in utero, though she came out healthy and devoid of any mutations. Thus, no one noticed Janice was infected. Her parents, having lost most of their life's work, had to move away from Freedom City. They settled in Austin, Texas, secure in the thought that nothing would ever bother them there. Janice eventually returned to Freedom City to finish law school. Afterwards, she eventually found herself an associate with Hartford, Grayson & Cole (the largest firm in Freedom City). She bought a nice place in Port Regal near the water. Though it was a shaky year in 1993. Even though the second Terminus Invasion ended semi-tragically for the world, she found a man who she thought would be her soulmate for the rest of her life. Though it was not meant to be. Peter Thomas was a good, upstanding man in Janice's eyes, but she just didn't happen to see his most glaring flaw. He was a total sponge. It would be a while before she saw his true colors. A year later she told him that they were pregnant. Peter was nervous, but he accepted the responsibility of being a father, that was until he found out an inconvenient truth. After some routine blood work, Janice's tests came back positive for Terminus energy. That was the last straw for Peter. He left her high and dry. They weren't married so he didn't have to do anything. Janice was crushed. She stayed for a bit, enough to get the man to pay child support for the baby he didn't want. She took some vacation time and went to her familial home in Texas for a while to tell her family the badgood news. Eventually they convinced her to stay there until the baby was born, and then to stay home to raise the child. She had to give up her nice job and her nice home for what she thought was the best for her and her baby. A few months later, Caresse was born. Caresse was a very tall child, which lead to much ridicule. On top of that she was not the most social of butterflies and had very few friends. As a young girl, people found it awkward that she was into more "boyish things". She loved physical activity and action movies. Of those, she loved samurai movies the most. They were like the superheroes she saw in the news so much. It was one of her childhood dreams, inasmuch that other children wanted to be princesses or horses, to become a samurai. On her eighth birthday, her mother signed her up for kendo and iaido lessons. She learned about swordsmanship and the touted honor of the samurai from her teachers. Even though she was an awkward bug, she was still amongst people with the same interest and made some friends. Friends she would keep for seemingly a long time. The first time her powers manifested, she was with her friends. It was the last few days of her sophomore year. They were sitting outside, waiting for school to start and then she felt this kind of... nirvana, a feeling of all feelings. Not only that, she began to glow a white aura. And everyone noticed. Everyone who saw it gathered around. She then felt a steady calm, looking to her onlookers. And then a warm happiness washed over her, turning her aura purple. When someone reached out to touch her, they were happy too. But it was magnified ten times as much! The guy was absolutely euphoric. All were awed by Caresse's new powers. Then she got more friends than she could ever dream of. Suddenly everyone was talking about the girl with strange powers. She eventually learned how to turn off the color show, but she could turn it on if she wanted. When Caresse told and showed her mother, Janice was outwardly happy for her daughter, but worrie for her. Janice told her the story of her birth. She left out the part of her father leaving because of it. Caresse never knew her father and never seemed to care about the subject. Her mother was glad she never had to drop that bomb. Later on, she Caresse told one of her friends about her "Terminus birth". The story spread around school like a wildfire. Most people didn't care, but others that knew the severity of the term watched her. Like all good things, they have to come to an end. Caresse was at a party with some friends. Someone asked her to show off her powers. She began to glow again, it was white like the first time, then purple. Someone asked if she could do the "happy trick". She blushed at the thought that she could make someone happy on command. She told them it was not something she gave freely. She reached for her boyfriend's hand and he pulled her closer seemingly euphoric he was and kissed her. Though some wiseass thought it would be funny to sneak up behind her and drop an ice cube down her back. When the joker did, Caresse's aura turned bright yellow. Both the prankster and her boyfriend shrieked in terror, falling to the floor in a fetal state! Caresse was shocked and her aura grew even brighter. Several cameras snapped pictures of the incident causing Caresse to get scared and then her aura turned a horrible black color. She tried to run away, but people tried to stop her. Everone that touched her dropped to the floor in a sobbing mass, instantly. She hopped on her motorcycle and went back home to her mom, making sure not to touch her and telling her the story of what happened. Her mother had been preparing for this. She said it would take a couple of days, but she could get her to a specialist. Unfortunately that meant she had to face the aftermath of what happened. The next day was the day before the last day of school and she had to face what had happened with her peers. Most people avoided her like the plague. There were vicious rumor circulating about what happened at the party. Some said she was a mad villain. Some were scared of her others were angered by her. Hateful words were spat at her. But no one got near her. It was horrible. She just wanted this day to end. When she got home she was in luck, her mother said she could leave that afternoon. She was so happy and sad at the same time. She couldn't embrace her mother for the joy she had in her and it ate inside her. By nightfall Caresse was in Freedom City and the Albright Institute. They ran tests on her and even gave her a spiffy suit. But they couldn't find anyway to control it or turn it off. The only thing Dr. Albright could think of was to send her to Claremont Academy. She was ready for anything, just to keep her emotions and powers in check. Personality & Motivation: Caresse was a quiet girl before the changes in her body. While she is finding herself opening up more, she is reluctant to touch anyone or have anyone touch her. She saw crazy things happen when someone did and she'd rather not relive that moment in her life too much. Other than that, she's a nice girl. Most people are thrown off by her size, but she tries to alieve that if she can. Powers & Tactics: She won't use her Emotion Control offensively unless she absolutely needs to. She'll first try to talk the opposition out of the fight. If that doesn't work she will use her years of sword training to incapacitate, though not harm the opponent. And if it comes down to it, she will protect emotions on to someone if they need stopping. She is a front line fighter none-the-less. It's the only style she knows and does not shy away from that. Complications: Can't turn it off: while she can control what emotion she projects (some of the time) she cannot stop projecting them. Touching her will either subject the toucher to the emotion she's currently feeling or projecting. Stress: She is going through a tough time in her life. The whole thing about not being able to touch someone without messing with their mind weighs heavily on her. Terminus Baby: They're not liked by many folks. Minor: She goes to school and still has to answer to and obey her elders. Secret: Claremont is a secret school in some regards. Something she has to keep! Secret: In this new town, very few people know that Caresse is Lotus. She would like to keep it that way. 3. As the large man's most private fears burned inside, Jade Dragon turned her attention to the woman who tried to stop the fire from rising inside him. Not before the matte black shadow got a word in though. "Elemental fire," she said looking at the woman but talking to the matte black shadow, "it governs your emotions. Right now, big boy is living out his fears." She switched her attention back to the woman, "Now, you have a choice here. You're outnumbered and, hopefully, smart. You can come peacefully and you probably will get off with a night's stay in jail. You didn't steal anything but your buddy there beat up some cops. Think it over." She smiled and readied to shoot if the woman did anything rash.
  4. Jade Dragon was confused by the chess like movement of the big man and the woman. Was she more than she thought? The matte black shadow seemed to think so and took action. Now to take care of the other guy, Jade Dragon thought. She silently grunted as the air spell she shot at the large man missed again. Though she had a plan, "Hey! Didn't someone tell you? Mustaches that huge went out in the eighties!" She pulled back and arrow, "Why don't you think on that a bit?" A red shaft of light fired off at the biker man as Jade Dragon shouted, "Ka!"
  5. Air Arrow, Homing (1d20+8=11) Fire Arrow (1d20+8=22) Emotion Control 12 (Flaws:Range [Ranged]; Feats: Homing 2, Precise) For my next trick I'm going to make the big lug feel fear!
  6. Toughness 25 (1d20+10=11) reroll Toughness 25 (1d20+10=30)
  7. Before Jade Dragon could answer the question, what looked like a matte black shadow came out to attack the big man. Not the smartest move as it look like the repercussions were brutal. She winced, but now she had people other than the cops to look out for. Hopping down from the post, Jade Dragon ran through and into the store. She made note of the biggest and possibly most dangerous target. The woman he was talking to was awfully calm for a bystander. But for now she had to get the big one. Running up tom him, she tried to confuse him with a kick off of his chest to throw him off balance and followed it up by letting loose a white shaft of light from her bow after she yelled the word "FÅ«!" The arrow swerved a bit and seemed to reposition itself to attack again!
  8. Move Action: Acrobatic Bluff as a move action, taking 10. That's 20 in all. Standard Action: Air Arrow at Space Biker (1d20+8=14) Trip 12 (Extras: Knockback; Feats: Homing 2, Improved Throw, Indirect 2, Knockback 10, Precise)
  9. Eve had a few more hours before she went out on her nightly excursion. And her morning run had long since past. She though about taking another run, but by the time she got back she would be exhausted from the run and not be able to go out that night. So she had to make other plans. She could go shopping! It was Sunday. Good deals happened on Sunday. But where? Se remembered a place she hadn't been to since she was a teenager: the Mall. Sure it was no shopping village, but the bomb of nostalgia had hit. A drive later she was at the multiplex. It hadn't changed much in the few years she had left it. Sure there were a few new stores, but these things seem to grow and grow. She chuckled at the thought of one day having a a 'shopping city' as she walked into the entrance. Man, when I was younger, there was everything I needed in here, with a broadening smile, she thought, Food, clothes, entertainment. I could have lived here if my parents were crazy enough. Luckily they weren't. The first few shops were uneventful. Curios and whatnots. Stuff that she could see on the shelf of a grandmother's collection shelf. Not that she didn't find them cute. Just not her style. Then she hit the gold mine. An athletics shop and a creative shop right next to each other. The athletics store was massive for a mall store. There was a half court in there! for about an hour she tried on a few things and played a few games of one on one. She left happy. Next up was the creative store. Choose an animal and some crazy patterns and accessories, and they'd stuff it full of cotton. Eve didn't get much time to play there as a ruckus broke out in another store. A herd of rent-a-cops were rushing towards something. "Now that's something you don't see everyday," she said to herself out loud. She headed towards the bathroom, opening her bag to pull out a neatly packed costume. She stripped down and suited up, then summoned her attuned focus bow. By the time she got back out there a few of the rent-a-cops were being manhandled by someone she couldn't see. "Villain," she said in her most imposing voice, standing on a post looking towards the action, " You have picked the wrong shopping center to break the law in! Show yourself!"
  10. "LaMarr," Eve said with a soft muse, "this past month has been a roller coaster." She was looking at the large man, but it looked like she was looking somewhere else in time. She smiled as she remembered it all. "It started off slow, a few baby steps. The first few nights were empty." She blinked her starry eyes back into reality, "Though that's not a bad thing. My first service to the public was taking out some thugs making some Zoom in a warehouse." She frowned, "Then came the battle with Crimson Katana. That's where I got the public reveal." She sighed, "At first I hid away. I was thinking about leaving in disgrace." She smiled, "But then I realized, the secret doesn't make you the hero. The heroism makes you the hero. So I embraced it. Ever since then I've had people notice me as Jade Dragon and Eve Kurosawa. It's been an interesting time to say the least." She chuckled, "So yeah, I've been coping a case at a time."
  11. Eve nodded slowly to the rhythm of her stirring, "Well, if you keep up with oil company names. Kurosawa Oil Corporation is the number two oil company in the United States. I am Kurosawa Hoshi's granddaughter." She chuckled, "Then again, people hear the name Kurosawa and ask about the films." She finished the caffelatte and placed the stirring spoon over the cup, then signaled the waitress to bring another. She looked back to Keith with a smile, "So, Mr. LaMarr. Keith? Wail? Is there a moniker you prefer to be addressed by? I haven't known any other public superheroes before."
  12. Eve smiled at the compliment and took a drink of her caffelatte. She remembered having a crush on a teacher in high school. Then again, who didn't? Setting her cup down, she stirred it a bit with her spoon. "So, you're one of the maskless heroes, it seems. I mean I had time to get into costume, but as of now it isn't a necessity. You know with the whole public unmasking and news stories running with it. Sometimes you have no choice. Remember Captain Thunder? Like that." She smiled awkwardly embarrassed, "I'm not trying to compare myself to Captain Thunder." She took another drink of her beverage then continued stirring, "But yeah, it's a pride thing now. I could go out there in civilian clothes, but why let them have power over me." She paused with shock, "I totally haven't told you my name yet, forgive me. I am Eve Kurosawa."
  13. Eve had a love hate relationship with coffee. Sure it kept her going and had so many wonderful flavors, but it was filled with so much empty stuff. She ordered a caffelatte and told them to keep coming. When they were seated it was on a patio facing the water. Spring had definitely sprung. It looked like a painted picture. This spot was always her favorite. She smiled at Wail. "Thank you for bringing me here. I could start by formally apologize for hitting on you. It seems I am ignorant of my past." She sighed, "if there's anything you want to get off your chest, I understand." She bit her bottom lip and waited for the large man to speak.
  14. All three statements pounded into her head. Not only was he old enough to be her grandfather. Not only was he swinging for the same team. He was holding the torch for a long lost loved one. Jade Dragon felt totally lousy. But luckily he couldn't see her dismay. Before she could apologize, he seemed forgiving about it. She nodded at the idea of coffee. "If you'll let me change into civilian clothes, we won't draw a spectacle. I know how heroes in costumes are lauded." She looked over to the mansion across the way and then back to Wail. She pointed a thumb to the destination, "It'll only take a minute or so."
  15. "Oh, kay," Jade Dragon said in an embarrassed tone as she rubbed the back of her neck. "You don't look a pound over one thousand," she said jokingly with a shrug. Putting her grappling gun back on the back of her belt, she looked to the mountain of a man. "I would like to know more about you, if you don't mind me asking." She stood at ease, "I mean it's not every day that you get to meet a veteran as handsome as yourself." And there's the tip off, she thought, I mean is it too early to, say, go have coffee and talk about hero things to see if he's actually interesting under those looks and that voice? Even though she was nervous she didn't show it. Totally cool, she stood.
  16. "Fourth actually," she said with a 'definitely' nod. "It's a cycle. Every twenty one years a new Jade Dragon is chosen." There was an awkward pause for a second as she looked for something to say. I can't screw this up, she thought, get to know him better. Looks and voice can't be the only thing he has. "So, you just got back, huh? I'm just starting out myself. How about we talk about it in a," she looked around, "place with less carnage." She pulled out her grappling gun and reached out a hand. "Now for the personal question," she chuckled, "how much do you weigh?"
  17. "I don't know," Jade Dragon said rhythmically while looking around the area again, trying to make hide or hair of this ape scrape, "With age comes experience. You know? I bet you're a really experienced superhero." Her compliment was genuine, though she thought it sounded a bit too flirty. "And of course, you're not going to slow me down," she looked up to him, her voice was inviting, "Then again we do have a mystery on hand! Quickly rushing everything wouldn't make for a good investigation. So, let's take it slow."
  18. searching for clues (1d20+10=27)
  19. "What was that," Jade Dragon spoke up after sticking her pinky in her ear and waggling a bit. She chuckled a bit at the silliness of it. "No really, I do thank you for coming along, Wail" she said with another polite curtsy. She looked up at him. She was glad the mask concealed the blush. He worked with my father, she thought, and is probably old enough to be such. But damn if he doesn't hit all the right spots so far. Just keep it on the low. I can work up some rapport. Through crime fighting that is. She spoke again, "If you'd like to stick around, I found a few suspicious things." She ran over to the base of the monkey's standing place with a stylish hop skip and a jump and waved to Wail. "Over here!"
  20. This time Jade Dragon had a warning to cover her ears before the loud started. And even though she did cover her ears, it didn't matter. Her ears rang anyway. She could feel it through her being. This was very polarizing. The man had a voice that could put Barry White and Isaac Hayes to shame. And now the sound of the worst thing ever was cycling though her head. Eventually the ringing stopped and she slowly uncovered her ears. "I see they named you very well," she was unknowingly yelling. She looked as the earth was still grabbing the monster monkey and how it was seemingly not phased by the yell. "Here, let me soften it up for you." Pulling back the bowstring, she shouted, "KÅ«!" And a black shaft of light shot at the monster's heart area, striking true. The void began to 'fill' the monster. weakening it's very essence and stripping it's hard exterior in the process. The monster began to glow black as long as the void was in the monster. "That should make things a bit easier."
  21. Void Arrow Alternate Power: Drain Toughness 12 (Extras: Affects Objects, Range [Ranged]; Feats: Homing 2, Precise) [39PP] (Void) Do I need to roll since he's helpless?
  22. Jade Dragon was lost in contemplation on what to do with this thing on top of actively searching for clues around the four story behemoth when a voice snapped her out of it. She looked up at the man. He looked familiar. She couldn't put her finger on it. Though apparently he knew her. Or of her. He looked exceptionally well for his apparent age (and his voice was almost music to her ears), perhaps he knew her father? She curtsied politely and then reached out a hand. "Yes, I am the new Jade Dragon. Pleased to make your acquaintance. Though, you have my name, I'm sorry i do not know yours."
