  1. Suzaku sat in the park meditating peacefully, eyes closed, slowly coming to realizing a spiritual euphoria few have ever dreamed possible... ... ... Aaaaaaand then he snaps out of it with a start as people around start screaming. "Wha-what the... so close... so close to spiritul enlightenment... sigh." Reaching over he grabs his hat, and does some quick stretches to prepare himself. So glad I decided to wear my hero outfit for my afternoon meditation... so so glad... With that he runs as fast as he can, toward the screaming, hoping to get there before anybody gets hurt...
  2. Pha-aw like the great Suzaku would be caught in something like that... 1d20+8=24 See made it handily...
  3. Hey just wondering, but does the ceiling have to make another toughness save since this guy is plastered into the ceiling? And I just hit him... Hard.
  4. Peter, relying on his intense training easily dodges the punch thrown at him and can't help but think... Wait, did that guy just call me a whippersnapper? How old is this guy? I mean really he... The rest of that train of thought is cut off as the man behind him does... something and suddenly the two goons and their leader are bounced back and forth from floor to ceiling. Huh... well not letting this go to waste... Taking a step forward Peter launches himself into the air with a raising uppercut turning in the air as he does so screaming... "SHORYUKEN!!!" Driving his fist into the body of the lead robber, Peter feels the fist slam into the armor. For a moment the armor absorbs the impact, but then Peter's fist plows through and he can feel it hit the soft body inside. Bits of armor fall off the man as he goes limp from the blow, getting driven a bit further into the ceiling.... "HECK YEAH!!! Always wanted to use that move! And they told me it was pointless to waste time practicing it... WELL WHO'S POINTLESS NOW?!" ... Peter remembers that there is a guy standing right behind him and gloating isn't all that heroic... "I mean... ummm... that shall show you the tree of crime, bears bitter fruits... yeah..."
  5. So, yeah, leaping power attack the leader of this not-so-merry band of outlaws... 1d20+5=21 And since he is stunned that had better hit dang nabit... DC 30 Toughness save
  6. Slightly surprised at somebody entering the room behind him Peter almost turns around to face the new entry. Catching himself he focuses again on his original opponents, being sure to keep his head down so as not to give a clear look at his face. Surprising Peter even more is when he turns back to the robbers, and two of them shoot into the air, becoming embedded into the ceiling. Oooookay not going to look THAT gift horse in the mouth. With the two goons out of the way, Peter lets loose a powerful spinning kick at the remaining opponent. SUZAKU KICK!!! His target moves out of the way, dodging the firey kick, as Peter readies himself for another go at this guy...
  7. Alright lookes like Suzaku is taking a swing at the leader then... 1d20+5=15 Power Attack Looks like that'll hit him, so a DC 30 Toughness save for him, Oh and Skill Mastery take 10 on stealth for a 26 to keep my head down so Dyne and the robbers can't get a good look at me, secret ID and all... Talked to Dyne and he said since he isn't actively trying to look he'll auto-fail, so yeah...

If there is still room Suzaku would totally be up for some zombie punchin' It's been one of his life long dreams... You wouldn't want to crush his dreams would you?
  9. Alright summary of my turn... Force Feild up... Power attacked... Pretty much it...
  10. Peter watched as the three armed thugs enter the men's room... OH CRUD! I just wanted one, maaaaybe two to come in here, but three? They're gonna kick my ass! A slight hint of fear showing, Peter contemplates just hiding it out and trying to escape... Then a little voice in the back of his head speaks up in a determined voice... Calm down! We knew things like this would happen when we decided to become a hero. Now are you still will to commit to that or not? You have been trained, and taught how to fight, now is the time to USE IT! You ARE the Vermillion Bird, the Avatar of Fire, the great...Suzaku! With a determined look in his eyes, Peter bursts into his Chi Aura fire and steps forward swinging at the closest robber, as hard as he can, yelling... SUZAKU PUNCH!!! Slightly surprised, Peter feels his fist catch on of the goons delivering a hard solid blow, he can feel the armor absorb most of the impact, but knows that the guy has got to be hurting.
  11. Closest goon to Suzaku, or the rear one whatever.
  12. 1d20+5=15 Power Attack!!! DC 30 toughness save for them...
  13. Shortly after Peter gets into the bathroom he hears a disturbance outside in the main area, Oh SNAP! A bank robbery? Here? While I'm here too? What do I do? What do I do? What do I do? ...wait a minute... Peter calms down and takes a deep breath, I know what I need to do. Come on man, stay calm. Focus. You know what you got to do... But wait I don't have time to change... CRUD! ...going to have to improvise... Peter goes to the door and cracks it open slightly and yells out in a falsetto voice, "OH NO! SOME PEOPLE ARE ROBBING THE BANK! I SHOULD CALL FOR THE POLICE ON MY CELL PHONE! I SURE HOPE THEY DON'T COME IN HERE TO STOP ME!" After hopefully getting their attention Peter ducks to the side of the door that it open into and waits...
  14. Bluff roll for Suzaku to lure them in... http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2709597/
  15. Peter Blackmore strolled down the city sidewalk, somewhat hot and tired. Having just finished delivering an order, he decided to take his time getting back to the restaurant for the next one. Taking his time to be alone with his thoughts... Maaaaan it’s toooo hoooooot! The sun is to briiiiight! Walking is taking to looooong! And I have to go to the bathroooooom!!! With that final thought he stops and looks around in hopes of finding a place to relieve his straining bladder. After looking over the nearby shops, he settles on the bank just a bit further down. Upon entering the building he heads into the men’s room... This place is toooo hooooot! What happened to the air conditioning? That guy yelling at the teller is to loooooud...
  16. Oh oh oh! Pick me! Pick me! I've got a shiny new character to try out. Debuting the world's most badass delivery guy SUZAKU!
  17. Alright, I believe I checked and tuned up everything. It should be good and all ready to go.
  18. Why yes. Yes I did mean Memento Mori. Man, I misspelled my favorite quote... and I might of misspelled mispelled. Or maybe mispelled misspelled... Darn you English Language!
  19. Alright I rewrote parts of it as per your suggestions. I hope everything is alright now. Description: For your concerns about his description, all I own is the core rulebook for second edition so didn't really have any heroes to name drop for his description, so I just used some I know and like. History and Personality: Yeah, I'm not that great at making up histories, but thanks for your compliment about his personality. Complications: Exactly what I was thinking, going to try making the other three probably as NPC's someday. Combat: Yeah mis-wrote the initiative fixed it. For the Attack suggestions, I'm not that concerned with making him as sound number-wise as possible. As for his grappling, well he's not going to use it all the time, just on thugs if they get to close, or physically weaker targets, and also probably hit them with a trip attack first to make it easier. BTW is a trip attack considered and unarmed attack? Just wondering if it qualifies for Improved Grab. Skills: Alright sorry wasn't quite sure about the formating. Feats: Must of miscounted somewhere, fixed now. Equipment: Was erring on the side of caution with the complete descriptions. Powers: Okay once again not to great with formatting stuff. For the Movement stuff, sorry I wasn't entirely clear on what exactly the effects for Speed were, I was trying to keep it mostly realistic. The Leaping though, well I though of those "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" wire-fu type jumps... thought it'd be kind of uh... interesting. So I'll add the chi description onto it also. Don't have the book that the Array stuff is in so I don't know if the Movement Array is rule legal right now. Drawbacks: I was thinking an allergy to water, Aquagenic Pruritus. A little sprinkle, no problem, his clothes gives him some manner of protection to keep him dry. Heavy down-pour rain on the other hand? He prefers not going out. As for something like fight a water elemental it kicks in after five minutes, so he'll be fine, for a while. He can fight water types, he just reeeeealy doesn't like doing it.
  20. Hello people. My name is Torrey, a 22 year-old, from the US of A. I don't really read many comic book, save for some Deadpool every once and a while. Other that that comic-wise nothing really of note except an irrational hatred of Superman, nothing really against it specific, I just strongly dislike him (Just don't ask me about it or bring it up, just... just don't.) My interests include table-top gaming, video gaming (heavily into RPG's, absolute favorite game of all? Persona 3 and 4 I can't choose just one!), working (unloading trucks and moving inventory, don't mind it that much), hanging out with people, and music (can't play anything, but I love my music.) Oh yeah and statistics, don't know why just find them facinating, and I plan on actually furthering my education with statistics as my primary feild. Played my first table-top RPG (DnD) my freshman year of high school, (nothing special about it), didn't play again for about a year except for a PbP free-forum RPG I found, sadly it suddently shut down for some reason. Fell in love with tabletops on my second time playing, great group they were, but they all left for college and stuff. Since then I found another group at my local gaming store, made of older more experienced gamers, (I'm the youngest by about 6-7 years.) They exposed me to many games other then DnD, Star Wars, D20 modern, Deadlands, Action Hero, Hero System, and of course Mutant and Masterminds. I'm still kind of new to it and point buy in general, but it doesn't seem like a very hard system to learn, (not like the Hero System Gah!) so not a total scrub but not a hyper competent player. Played in a grand total of two M&M games. BTW found this site through TV Tropes. Haven't play a PbP game in forever and a day so really happy to play again. As for my profile name? Why Grotesque you ask? It's my favorite word in the English language, that's all. Ummmm... let's see what else... what else... Oh I know! How about a picture of me eh? Eh? Eh, its a Christmas photo but only one I can find, oh well. Moment Mori (I just like saying this sometimes.)
  21. (After a bit of help I believe everything is good to go for my character.) First attempt at this, so any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Power Level: 10 (150/152PP) Trade-Offs: -2 Defense / +2 Toughness Unspent PP: 2 Gold Status: 2/30 In Brief: A martial artist trained at a monastery since he was a child to harness the Ssu Ling element of fire. He is believed to be the current incarnation of Suzaku, the Vermillion Bird of the South. Alternate Identities: Peter Blackmore Identity: (Secret) Birthplace: Unknown (He believes the USA) Occupation: Errand boy and chinese food delivery man. Affiliations: Some police officers that he has become friendly with as well as a few people who are able to get information about all kinds of things (better if you don’t ask how). Family: No blood relatives he knows of, but considers all who were at the monastery with him to be his true family. Age: 22 (DoB: March, 1988) Apparent Age: He looks to be 22. Gender: Male Ethnicity: White Caucasian Height: 5 foot 10 inches Weight: 190 lbs. Eyes: Brown Hair: Dark Brown Description: Peter appears as a handsome fairly well built man. He usually dresses mostly normal, comfortable pants, sleeveless t-shirts (usually showing some musical group/band), running shoes, and maybe a hoodie when it gets colder, stuff that’s looser and easy to move around in. He also always has a red bag he carries on his back containing his hero outfit. He keeps his hair fairly short, and he’s clean shaven. As Suzaku he wears a all black suit, with tie, nice dress shoes, a fedora hat, and an old school domino mask, which also double as night camo. He also wears a long cape-like coat that he wears just because he thinks it “looks cool.†It also somehow never gets even a wrinkle, maybe a bit dirty, but not horribly messy. He dresses like that for his “night-time activities†because he is a huge fan of old heroes such as, Midnight I and Le Renard Rouge. Power Descriptions: When he uses his Chi Fire a light blue flame erupts covering either just his limb he’s attacking with, or, if his Chi Aura force field is active, his entire self is covered. The Chi Fire doesn’t noticeably alter the level of light. His movement powers are in the style of Le Parkour enhanced by his physical and spiritual training. History: As far as Peter knows he was found by the monastery gates as an infant. The master of the monastery declared that Peter would be allowed to live and train just as the monks did. His life at the monastery was a difficult one of daily training, and meditation. Separated from the other for being a foreigner he had few friends within those walls. After years of this, he was summoned to the elder’s chamber deep within the temple of the monastery, there he met Huang Long. Huang Long told Peter that he was actually the incarnation of Suzaku, the Vermillion Bird of the South, and the Ssu Ling avatar of fire. From that day onward he was respected and treated in high regard. With the other three Ssu Ling avatars, the Azure Dragon of the East and avatar of wood Seiryuu, the White Tiger of the West and avatar of metal Byakko, and the Black Tortoise of the North avatar of water Genbu, the four trained together to harness their elemental powers. After finishing his training and leaving the monastery, he set out into the world and travelled to Freedom City looking to make his mark on it. Since then he’s only been able to get a job as a messenger boy, and Chinese food delivery guy using his training to do well enough at those jobs to provide a good enough income to live off of, as well as buy himself a few cool gadgets (his Equipment). However he recently decided, after being inspired by his old pulp fiction books, and noir movies, to use is training for something more useful, like crime fighting. (For anybody that knows/cares about the Ssu Ling, yes I know I used the Japanese names instead of the Chinese names. I just find them easier to pronounce.) Personality & Motivation: Peter, AKA Suzaku, is a nice guy in hero persona or out of it. He’s happy to help old ladies across the street, climb up trees to save a little girl’s cat stuck in a tree. In his regular identity, Peter is fairly lazy, more interested in goofing off, then doing his job. He’s come close to getting fired from his job more then once due to his poor work ethic. He also has problems dealing with people on a personal level, not good with talking or listening to them tending to get easily distracted. When meeting the other hero's and people of reknown in Freedom City, he has a tendence to become over-excited and act, well for lack of a better term, like a fan boy. As Suzaku, he tries to act as a determined, methodical, man with a plan. He pretends to be serious to a fault, and acts confident and highly skilled both in fights and when it’s a simple matter of negotiation. As Suzaku he is a hard man to read and he’s even better at reading others, he is not easy to get one over on. However every once and a while Peter’s true personality does show, usually when he is awestruck meeting or seeing someone famous. For his motivations, he believes that he should use his training to help the people that are preyed upon by the strong. That the world needs people to fight for the basic rights of every man, and that every man is entitled to be treated as an equal. That and he always thought that the old radio/pulp magazine heroes were just that dang cool. Powers & Tactics: Suzaku usually tries to fight where opponents are weak, forcing ranged fighters into up close grapples, and physical opponents into a ranged fight avoiding them using his movement powers. Complications: Honor He will not run from a fight, no matter how hopeless the outcome is he will not intentionally run away, and will have to be forced into leaving the fight. Phobia He has a fear of drowning, his allergy to water and the fact that his Chi Fire powers will not work when submerged only strengths that fear. Rivalry Suzaku and the other three incarnations of the Ssu Ling are honour bound to have to fight one another whenever and wherever they are issued a challenge. (The other three and their elements are in the history.)
