  1. Dragonfly pursed her lips, holding a hand up to look at the back of one gauntlet. "I wish. Problem isn't really energy buildup itself - slap a battery on it, done, no more problems. Problem is...mm." theoretical physics knowledge? can't assume - keep simple - good practice "Field's like...a mesh of tangled strings. Has to be to work. Random but with very specific qualities. When it absorbs energy it...adds to the field itself. Too much energy and it starts to untangle, gets less effective. Entropy. Universe wants to be ordered and even. Eventually collapses back into normal space curve. Hard to drain without draining the field, too...working on it - have a promising prototype. Needs more testing. Less stable right now; turned test dummy inside the field into kindling." She grimaced. "And then set it on fire. Could just use a stable energy 'bubble'," she actually made little disdainful air-quotes with her fingers, "but that's boring." "Rail system is interesting. Specialization over general utility. Not bad. Clearly effective." In her mind, Dragonfly could almost see it - mapping out the rails and circuits you'd need. "How many configurations have you managed to put together?"
  2. traffic - miss my motorcycle - work harder on wings "Sort of. Shaped spacial distortion - tries to scatter attacks...energy gets split apart and channeled away. Physical objects meet resistance holding themselves together. Very effective. Not...ideal in execution, though. Absorbs some energy instead of channeling. Destabilizes. Working on that, hard to solve without killing myself." She sat back in her seat, eyeing the traffic and drumming her fingers on the armrest for a bit. "....armor change was a nice trick. Modular?"
  3. Giving the massive bridge support one last glance, Knight shook his head and limped his away from the edge. "Not that I know of. Kinda hard to keep track...but I think we got everyone." Slowly making his way over to the bisected van, he peeked into the back to make sure its cargo was alright, chuckling and patting his serrated stone wall. "Yeah, I think she was the last. You know, if I didn't know any better I'd think the bridge was annoyed at all the damage it was taking."
  4. The young woman tilted her head, eyeing the neighborhood where the trail ended. "Shielded, maybe. Not that hard. Specialized container, radiation scrubber, far enough underground...at least we have somewhere to start. Will have to hope no one just teleported away with it."
  5. "Mm. Nice car." Climbing up into the passenger seat, Dragonfly eyed the GPS. better resources - could have done that if I wanted to - own the satellite or repurposed it? - hotspots - trails - note trails for later As she sat frowning at the GPS, the image flickered for a fraction of a second before zooming in and rapidly sweeping across the noteworthy trails and echoes. Satisfied she'd memorized as much as was useful, she reset the GPS back to the image Ironclad had brought up. "Follow. Wish more were this easy to track. Envy your resources. Almost cheating." She leaned back, buckling herself in. "Not exactly a complaint."
  6. Gaian Knight waited until the young lady was on her feet before brushing some little fragments of rock off his coat and looking around to the other heroes. "So, uh. Anyone have any idea what just happened here? Or are gibbering monster attacks a little more common than I think?"
  7. Is the map showing many hotspots (of which three are attention-worthy), or just the three?
  8. Dragonfly looked - and felt - a little like she wanted to blend in with the back wall but was trying not to think about it, nodding a bit in time with Gossamer's playing. Much of her attention was watching the hands as they played, fingers twitching in time with the music. interesting - practiced skilled - still hard to follow - find video online - have computer prepare selection? no remote link - mental link extender? interesting task - mechanics of link unknown - play soon - don't think about it - outclassed, play anyway, good cause - wonder what Divine plays? or sings or-- She stood like a deer caught in Divine's headlights, really not prepared to be nearly pounced on. The music reference, though, broke her out of it; she distractedly hummed the last few notes in harmony. a good movie - one of the few seen - good song - backup? bowless, simple - best to perform with another before playing solo - less humiliation less focus - balance out rock, segue into own music - buy a guitar? "Y-...I, yes. Could play backup for you. Bass is tuned already." Pausing for just a moment longer, she carefully made her way over to her instrument, pulling off her gauntlets and tossing them next to her violin case.
  9. The edge of Dragonfly's mouth turned up in an echo of a grin. expected that - connected - making a name for myself already? - fair's fair "Yes, it is, Ironclad." She absently toyed with something on the underside of a gauntlet, tilting her head. "So. You have the scanner. Where do we go, what is waiting for us?"
  10. Dragonfly was looking much better by the time she made her way to the statue - she'd spent most of the hour recharging, figuratively and literally, while she ran a search on Ironclad. She hadn't found out a whole lot, but at least she had a better idea of who she was dealing with. need to assume less - not always what people appear to be - unfortunate misunderstandings - common? - do not want to cause more brawls be inflicted by more unneeded conflict She looked up at the floating heroine, adjusting a gauntlet. "Almost thought you'd stand me up."
  11. Dragonfly crossed her arms, listening to the music and watching Zoe's hands on the guitar. basic guitar mechanics not so complex - song less so - very fast - difficult to catch individual notes - examine slower simpler calmer playing later? - basic instruction - not my first choice in music - not bad, I suppose - not really my thing Her foot was tapping despite herself, and little lights on her gauntlets insisted on lighting up and going out in time with the music. She frowned when she noted, but didn't try to stop it. possibly catchier than first anticipated
  12. Gaian Knight turned his head and waved, chuckling. "A cargo ship's worst nightmare, apparently."
  13. The side of Gaian's dome cracked, splitting open to let him through as he stepped out into the light. Man, this bridge has seen better days.... Kicking a couple stray pieces of robot out of the way, he made his way to the edge and leaned over to eye his handiwork. "....huh."
  14. She bit her lip as she struggled with herself for a moment. no! - can't be trusted - tried to kill us - lesser of two evils - poor decision - few other options - have to trust someone sometime - going to regret this "...fine." Reaching into a small pouch she pulled out what was obviously a gutted, repurposed PDA, and held it out. "Better together than apart. But." She pulled it back for a moment, leaning in. "Contents of case do not make it to police, or anywhere else. Destroy it if you have to, or if I can't. That's my condition." She extended the tracker again, as if it was a handshake to seal the deal.
  15. Dragonfly shrugged, waving a hand. "Of some kind, yes. Am...familiar with it. Built a scanner. Won't do me much good now - outclassed. Need a plan. Speed or teleportation countermeasures, maybe. Spacial hardening in the works, could throw it together and hope it doesn't burn out or tear rifts in...." She trailed off, muttering to herself for a moment, before blinking and shaking her head, turning back to eye Ironclad again. "...why?" recovery challenging task - bad sign
  16. Dragonfly looked at Ironclad a little blankly, and then choked on a laugh...and winced. ribs - no breaks - heavy bruising? - will take time to heal - unfortunate She shook her head back and forth. "Didn't. Don't know you. Heard the case was being sold. Tracked it, saw you with it, made assumptions." She tilted her head, pondering Ironclad for a moment. "Bad ones, maybe. Am possibly sorry for that."
  17. Dragonfly visibly twitched. "Because I--" no - stop - calm - deep breaths - not good to be common knowledge "....for my own reasons. Also know things it might be. None of them are good." She slumped a little, starting to feel the beating she'd taken. could have gone better
  18. Force Field a go-go! I missed you, 6 toughness.
  19. Dragonfly wiped her cheek with disgust, bringing her force field back up the moment she saw Ironclad coming back, glaring and muttering impolite things in two languages before lapsing back into English. "You...you...! You should have attacked him anyway! Should've..." personal sacrifice for unknown case - one item safe too many others on the street - ultimate utility in staying alive - irate - calm thoughts "....nevermind." She threw her hands up, turning her glare to where she last saw the...disgusting villain. "Nevermind! Now a super-powered mystery man has goodness knows what to inflict on people. Will have to track it down again."
  20. Dropping the force field. Doubt two toughness would help her any more than six. Shield's still primed, though.
  21. Dragonfly spoke carefully, trying very hard not to move her head much. "Not...a villain. Can 'take my stuff' when you pry it from my lifeless fingers. Case included." As she spoke, the force field around her wavered and fell, a couple tiny lights on her gauntlets going out. buy time - reset field - can't risk damaging gauntlets - barely holding ground as-is
  22. Requested grapple check: (Pitiful) Grapple Check (1d20 + 5=6) Faaaaaaaail.
  23. Toughness Save vs. Unknown Villain's attack, DC32 (1d20 + 4=19) Failed by 13. Staggered+Stunned. Paying her HP to immediately lose the stun, because...well, because she's obviously not lasting for much longer if that keeps up. Force field's down to Force Field 2, so her Toughness is now 2.
  24. Not as dramatic as sweeping out a small army with the power of the sun, but I'll take it. Nice to have him actually hit something!
  25. GK stood under his dome, hands reaching out to touch its surface, breathing slowing as he concentrated on the bugbot's movements. In his mind's eye he could see them: every step, every scramble as they climbed around and over the ground. Still a little overwhelmed from raising the bay floor, he almost giggled. "Peekaboo." All around the dome - and along the surface of the dome itself - spikes of asphalt erupted out of the ground into the marching machine army.
