  1. OK cool, thanks. One fort save coming up... Fort 1d20+3= 16
  2. Sorry for the Newb question  but just to make sure what roll's do i need to make for Delemental's last post? (obviously fort, but is there's anything else?) That's fine Delemental, RL alway's get's in the way from time to time. I don't mind staying as is, or fast forwarding. I'm fine either way. And lastly just an update. As you may or may not know I am moving, and while everything is still up in the air (I think I've been set to move in as many months.) I can almost say for 100% certainty it will be next month some time (may)... namely because the rent run's out were i'm currently staying, so regardless I will be moving sometime next month. and I'll Internet is unknown at this point in time. (At best, I'll be gone for around 2-3 day's, at worst I could be gone for over 6 weeks (that's how long it take's them to connect the internet  ) Although the place were looking at is only 20 min's from family, so If the worst does happen, I should be able to pop in there once a week or so. I think that's everything for the time being. I'm still free to post until the day before we move. which i'll keep you all up to date on.
  3. The elderly lady pushed passed the stunned Sirius, waving a hand dismissively as she entered, “Close your mouth, and put a shirt on.†She said, He face showing disdain as she looked around at the decaying room Sirius had been calling home for the past few months. Snapping out of shock, Sirius went to close the door but before he could two more men entered. Both wore suits, and both ware a small broach on their color. Sirius stared at the breach, it taking a moment before the symbol became clear. Both broachers had the Foxfire symbol etched into them. Turning Sirius quickly hurried after his mother, who now standing on the balcony looking out at the street with even more distain than she had his apartment. Grabbing a shirt as he passed his it. Ember went to his mother’s side. “What on earth are you doing here mother? And who are those goons?†Sirius asked. Without answering His mother waved a hand at the two men. “Leave everything, there’s nothing here worth keeping.†Sirius’s mother said, ignoring her son. The two men nodded, and than moved to the corridor outside the apartment. Closing the door as the went. Once done Sirius’s mother turned and faced her son. “I should whip you for what you’ve done.†Sirius’s mother said, disappointed filling her voice. "Running of the America’s, abandoning your family so soon after your father’s death.†Sirius’s mother suddenly slapped her son. “If you were any other person I would have you whipped to within an inch of your life!†The elderly woman snapped, the loving affection of a parent long gone. “But as it were, you are the hair to the Fox fire.†Sirius’s mother said, the ice in her breath melting back to her usual motherly demeanor. Sirius looked at his mother in shock “You know about the Fox fire?†Sirius spluttered. His mother’s eyes became hard again. “Of cores I did, you didn’t honestly believe that you were the only one who knew about the family’s blood lines.†Sirius’s mother moved away again, looking around the small apartment before stopping and facing her son again. “Pack what little thing’s you hold of value. Before I speak anymore we shall go someplace more private.†Sirius’s mother said. As if on cure, the door to his apartment opened again and the two men entered again. ‘We will be down in car, be quick about it.†Sirius’s mother added before turning and walking out. The two men gave Sirius a quick glance before following the elderly woman. Sirius stood in the empty room speechless. What was going on? Who was that woman who wore his mother’s skin? Who were the two men that accompanied her? Holding his hands to his for head as his head throbbed with question’s Sirius sighed and went to find a bad to place his belonging’s in. If there was one thing he had learnt as a child… Never disobey your mother.
  4. [september 24th 2008] Ember Paw get's some Uninvited guests.
  5. Sirius lay quietly on his bed, His left hand quietly outlining the Foxfire tattoo on his bare chest. His right hand glowing red, as fire danced across his skin. Frowning Sirius hurled the fire into the roof, causing a small bit of plaster to fall away, leaving a scorch mark on the roof. He brought his hand down hard onto the bed in frustration. No matter how hard he tried he tried, his Magic just wasn’t getting stronger. He Knew the Fox fire was as the hart of his magical ability, but even in fox form, he could only ever access the smallest drop of the immense ocean of power he knew resided within the Foxfire spirit. Grabbing the Foxfire journal, Sirius flicked through its pagers. He’d read all he could read at least a dozen times. Unfortunately all he could read only dated back only a few generations. Everything before that was written in some ancient form of Gaelic, which even the so-called specialist’s couldn’t decipher. What information he did have was limited. Most of his ancestor’s had said they had limited control over the Foxfire. Some couldn’t even create the magic blast. The most interesting entry in the journal was the earliest entry Sirius could read. It was of a young woman who had inherited the Foxfire after the death of her father. She right’s that her father had been able to do some amazing feats of Magic with the Foxfire, but unfortunately she never win into specifics. Buy the end of her section of the journal he had grown depressed and angry. Complaining how the Foxfire spirit must be broken or all used up. Page after page was filled with rants of her complaining on how she couldn’t achieve the things her father could. She had also grown bitter at her father, apparently she couldn’t read the rest of the journal either. It was apparently something that was meant to be passed down form parent to child, but due to her father’s sudden untimely death, he had never gotten around to it. Sirius sighed, and threw the book against the wall. All of this started because one person didn’t honor the tradition of teaching his child how to read the journal. Looking to the book laying on the floor, he sighed. Maybe, just maybe this Jos fella might be able to decrypt the journal. A knock at the door drew Sirius’s attention from the journal. Picking it up as he went to the door. He stuffed it in his back pocket before opening the door. Standing in front of him was an elderly lady in her sixties. Long grayish sliver hair fell down to the small of her back. Her clothing was simple, but expensive. A pair of half moon spectacles sat on her nose. Green eyes shone back at Sirius. Sirius stared in disbelief at the elderly woman, his jaw hanging open at the sight of her. A single word managed to escape his lip… “Ma!â€Â
  6. Would Mind Reading Limited to helpless or willing targets be an acceptable -1 flaw? seeing as you could only use it again'st someone who is ether restrained in some fashion (such as a full snare effect) or someone who is willing to 'let you in'.
  7. Ember's all but unknown in Freedom City. However anyone with a bit of Irish history would know the stories of a Fox spirit thats roamed Ireland for the past 200+ years. (deeper knowledge would place the Emergence of the Fox spirit's arrive sometime during the peak of Druidic custom in Ireland.) But so far in FC, very few have encountered Ember. There's been a few newspaper clipping's about some small time petty thefts, were a strange paw print has been left. but that's about it.
  8. That's right i forgot that Normal identity included that.
  9. err slight amendment to the formula i wrote out, It should be +1 (Base) +2 (Duration) +1 (Area) - 1 (Perm) -1 (Limited Emotions) = 2pp/rank But it's still more expensive than a fully working power.
  10. But in this case the flaw is negligible at best. Since the power has to be bought up to continue's, (which is a +2 for Mind reading, Concentration to Sustained to Continues) not to mention the +1 for the area, in the end it still end's up costing you for more for a flawed power, than it does for a working power. So in the end the power end's up costing Base = 1 +2 (duration) - 1 (permanent) + 1 (area) = 3pp/rank You could probably get Uncontrolled added on, but i'm not sure if that apply's to Continue's powers. but that only lower's it to 2pp/rank
  11. Another question that I've been wondering. When does a power become more of a drawback than an actual beneficial power? The best example i can think of at the moment is for example continues, Permanent, Area (bust) Mind reading, limited Emotions. Now I can see how that power is a great help when it's controlled, but as a permanent area power, I'd think even the strongest of person's would quickly have enough of constantly being bombarded with every bodies emotions. granted there would be time's were it's handy. like when the super villain is acting all high and mighty but in reality is scared, and most likely bluffing. (Unless of coarse the villain know's the empath's power and Deliberately act's that way to fool them into a false sense of security.) My point is should the player pay full cost for a power that is going to be more of a hindrance to the character? (I wen't with emotion's because while reading surface thought's could get very annoying very quickly, it's much more beneficial, than just the emotion's of the target.)
  12. hmm true. What if it was obviously not an ordinary object? such as an object made of quicksilver, or plainly built with technology that was beyond earth standard? while granted the character probably wouldn't have to take them off all that often, they could still be taken. (although having said that i suppose the Normal identity with the Complication: power's can be taken, could suffice.)
  13. I was wondering how you would handle a device that has 2 different forms. For example you have a device that's a Battle armor, when it's active, but when it's deactivate it's something as simple as a jewelry/clothing/Inanimate object Would that be handled as simple a descriptor? or would it require a power feat, or even a power? (I would be assuming that in the battle suit example, the device would be built as a Hard to lose device, and the fact that when it's deactivated and in object mode the fact that it's easy to lose is just fluff for that mode, and in no way affect's the device.) Thanks
  14. while no were based in actual fact of how far he would have traveled if he went full speed (25mph running/50feet per jump) I was thinking he's probably around 1 building per post (ember) post from your last teleport. (without checking the thread that's about 2 or 3 buildings i think?) So in reality he probably know's it's not safe, but since your glutton power overcame his will save, his brain probably ignored your threat, in the search of food. (at lest for now )
  15. Tabitha Connely & Jos Terhune (and a snoopy Ember), early Sept 28th, at the Fens As Ember ran he couldn't help but feel the sudden knot in his Stomach, the gurgling it suddenly made in protest of being empty. Ember hadn't realized how hungry he'd been. A Battle ranged within, Ember's stomach groaned and begged for food, but at the same time, adrenalin and fear from his fox Instincts told him to run... than it happened, a fain't smell on the air. Although faint, Ember could smell the succulent, roast chicken, someone must have had it for dinner, and thrown the rest out into the trash... The battle won, even Ember's instinct's told him he needed food, that the threat was over, he needed to eat now... Darting suddenly to the right ember quickly jumped across to another building and than down into a side ally, falling on all fores ember began to sniff the air, in search of the illusive smell...
  16. thats right, i forgot i had already rolled it  *removes so not to create any confusion*
  17. Embers Will Save Dc 20 [14+ 4] = 18
  18. Tabitha Connely & Jos Terhune (and a snoopy Ember), early Sept 28th, at the Fens Ember continues to run, jumping from rooftop to rooftop as he needs. Ember doesn't bother to looking back. A small scowl crosses his face, how could he have been so lazy! If Jos see's or saw him than he could have jeopardized Sirius's whole deal. Thoughts raced through Ember's mind, He had heard the crack of the mind-lady's teleport whip-thing. which meant one of two things, Jos and his new friend were either heading home... or more likely, had spotted Ember and were now chasing him. While Ember was sure he could run fast, he doubted he could outrun a teleporter. He had to do something else? but what!...
  19. I was just musing over some ideas in my head and i was wondering how you would create this effect. Basically you create a picture and than animate it. So it becomes like a tv, you watch the picture come to life. (but restricted inside the picture, you don't bring them into the real world such as the animated object, Images power) Than you have different level's of the picture's display. It could be programed, (so a painting of cars racing, the cars will go around doing the lap exactly the same as the last time, in an endless loop. Or it could be given a semi-balance of randomness, and so every lap the cars do something different.) Another example is you create a picture of a person. The Programed image would have the person say pacing around a living room, and doing only that. were as the Semi-balance one could pace a little, go sit down and read for a little while, fetch a drink ext ext. And passable even interact with the real would buy talking to people who walk buy the painting? Than the third thing I thought up, was being able to actually enter the painting, So you paint a beach scene of on some tropical island, you touch the picture and next thing you know your standing on a beach, looking out at what ever room the painting was in, you can than go wander off have a swim, than walk back into the room you were the painting is. (the world in the painting isn't real, and only the things painted into the the picture are there, and you cant paint something and than bring it to the real world.) I was thinking it could be as simple as an illusion. or something more powerful like transform. It could also just be Animate Objects with a Flaw: Objects remain in there own dimension. and as for the walking into the painting's that could simply be a Triggered dimensional movement limited to painted dimension's or something.
  20. Tabitha Connely & Jos Terhune (and a snoopy Ember), early Sept 28th, at the Fens As Ember was spotted buy the thug, Ember cursed at himself for getting over confident in his abilities. Thankfully however his prey hadn't seemed to have noticed him. Thinking about his options, He couldn't attack the thug, that would alert Jos and Tabitha. But if he did nothing the thug would surly do so anyway. Not to mention Ember didn't particularly wish to be on the receiving end of the twin guns, Or Tabitha's powers. As his options went through his brain, his inherent fox nature kicked in, there wasn't a way for him to win this fight, Not easily in any case. If he attacked one thug the other's would probably come running. And he doubted he would be able to hold up against Tabitha's mind control or what ever her power's were. And Lastly he would ruin Jos's trust in Sirius should he see the Fox Fire emblem from the book on Ember's fur. No Ember only had one option according to his Fox nature... Run. Ember leaped up to the nearest roof, Not caring about stealth, He than started to run at full speed, leaping across the roofs as fast as he could, hoping that by the time the thug alerted the other's he'd be too far for them to see or catch...
  21. Ember's Notice Check Jos = 3+2 = 5 (Ember is way to trusting for a villain  ) Tabitha = 17+2 = 19 (I'll let the doc decide whether the attractive applies or not, I would guess it probably does)
  22. Tabitha Connely & Jos Terhune (and a snoopy Ember), early Sept 28th, at the Fens Ember watches, I wasn't quite sure what happened but if he had to guess the woman Jos was with had some kind of mind control power. But he wasn't completely sure, after all were had the gold came from? Realizing they were leaving Ember quickly hid. The last thing he wanted was to be spotted buy Jos or his new friend, let alone one of the thugs....

    The Ember Paw

The Meeting went well, Only minor questions were asked. Jos seemed pleased with my work, and has asked me to help out with a delivery for his new shop. I'm to escort a container from the docks to he store. It shouldn't be to hard. I told him I may not be able to make it, but a "Family Friend" will be there. I'm not sure if he bought it or not, But i would rather him not know about the Foxfire for the time being. I've decided to do some scouting tonight, map out the different paths from Jos house to the docks, and were trouble is likely to happen. I doubt anything of interest is going to happen tonight, but in the city of heroes you never know...
  24. Tabitha Connely & Jos Terhune (and a snoopy Ember), 1:30-ish am Sept 28th, at the Fens Ember watched and listened carefully, He would have to be careful with this new stranger she appeared to be fairly powerful, and a passable threat to his deal with mr. Terhune. Ember continued to watch and listen, thinking over the different possibilities of the future...
