  1. “So, run out of museums to break into?†She asked as she kept a close eye on both him and the other guy for any sudden moves. “I’m going to give you a chance to come and talk to the police about that, or you can wait till the Freedom League shows up, and then things won’t be so pleasant.â€Â

    Oh crap.

It looks like the metaphorical cop who gave her the warning has turned around, come back to her car, and called in the SWAT team...

"I suggest you do what the lady says." Seth focuses momentarily and the trap is set, more or less. "Actually, I wouldn't take it as a suggestion. It's pretty much your only choice" Head flip to get his hair out of his eyes. The mask is bad enough.

    ...and a copper-chopper.

    Fan-frickin'-tastic.

"I don't suppose you would take a rain check on that?" he said hopefully, though not holding out much of the same that they would actually take the suggestion. "I mean, if we get in a fight here, we'll wake up these nice people. They probably have work tomorrow. Do you really want that on your conscience?"

Grim reluctantly lets go of Nano's arm, clears her throat and waves hopefully at the two newcomers.

"Um, hi there! Not that you have any reason to believe me, but I'm actually not a criminal, and my new buddy Nano here barely qualifies; I can't speak for Icarus, to be honest, I don't know him all too well. The name's Grimalkin, and I'm all about helping people."

  2. I must have misunderstood your original question. How is gaining a little mass a benefit? When you said "slightly larger forms," I thought you meant "make me look taller" so you could disguise yourself as someone taller. Morph would do that for you, I think. Is someone trying to weigh you to determine your identity?

I know it may sound silly, and I may indeed be splitting hairs here, but if lil' Grim tried to make herself look like a taller person, say a 6 foot tall guy, someone who knew him might be able to tell he weighed significantly less if the interacted with 'him' physically, like slapping on the back, helping up a ladder, etc.

This is not that big of a deal, since I may well invest in Growth just for the Str and Con benefit, with the eventual gain of a whole size class over time, even though I'm sure there are cheaper ways to achieve the same effect. If I didn't make her so darn little, it wouldn't be much of an issue; I essentially limited myself to women and men of smaller stature, but I like her tiny, so it's hardly a major sacrifice.

  5. Just wanted to add one last little thing, nothing to do with Morph but on the subject of Growth and mass; under the power, before it even mentions the increase to size ranks, it says, "The additional Strength does not improve you Climb or Swim skills (since your mass also increases)." This does suggest being able to take on slighter larger forms with as little as one rank of Growth, if used in conjunction with Morph, even though the primary benefit would of course be the boost to Str and Con. Just putting that out there :D

  8. "I didn't burn. The air is cold high, not hot," he says. He shakes his head, frowning. He returns to English, "But you are out late, and it isn't safe out here for you. Nanowire, do you want to escort this young lady home? You two seem to be getting along well," he says with a rakish grin. He has a way of speaking that makes him sound like someone's father or even grandfather, even though he looks like he's only a few years older than Grimalkin.

For a moment, Grim feels like the kid who is pulled over by a cop for speeding but is let go with a friendly reminder, when he's got a backpack filled with hash sitting next to him in the passenger seat. She looks from Nano to Icarus and back, her mouth slightly open in disbelief, before her brain kicks in and she is quick to take advantage of the situation. She wrinkles her nose and does this weird little dance of glee.

    "Wow, that would be awesome!"

She practically wraps herself around Nano's arm as she chatters on in this vein, gently tugging him away from the far more frightening Icarus.

"Okay, now you have to tell me, what is the most evil thing you've ever done? I once sent away for all these credit cards in my mom's name, and she never even found out! I hit Hot Topic like shopping machine that ran on plastic! So do you have, like, a secret base where you make all your evil plans? I want mine to be all black, but maybe with some candles and a few white Christmas lights, y'know? To make it classy."

  11. Well, shucks, me am defeated; this is what I get for not going with Shapeshift, even though I really didn't want to, so I can't actually have any regrets. I will probably starting investing in Growth once I start earning some pp, since she's already pretty tiny, and doesn't need to get too much smaller :D

It's all cool, and thanks for the suggestions and clarifications, guys.

  14. For 2 PPs/rank you can assume any humanoid form, but your traits remain unchanged. So if you wanted to turn from a beggar girl in a dress into a tall man in a top hat . . . yes. But I'm pretty sure her mass would stay the same. The changes are "merely cosmetic."

Perhaps if you gave us an example of what you were thinking

Rereading Growth and Shrink sort of answers my question, but also kinda raises others; since it take 4 ranks of either to change your size class up or down, what is the benefit of having 1, 2 or 3 ranks in it? Does it get you anything, or are they basically just bought in blocks of four? The problem is, it seems that you have to get a whole other power (in ranks of 4, I'm thinking) to change your mass even within the limits of your own size class.

  17. Grim finally manages to shut her mouth once Icarus speaks, which drastically changes the mood of the evening; Icarus seems like a pro, very much focused on his 'work', and is being actively pursued by other crimefighters. Valkyrie she wasn't so sure of, but she had seen pictures of Velocity on the net, and she already knew she hated her; no girl with a smile that big had anything in common with Grim, and her costume had that sort of high fashion veneer, which either meant she was rich, or wanted folks to think she was rich. Either way, gag.

Eventually she gets the nerve to jump back into the conversation

"So, you guys did...like a heist together, at the museum? That's cool; most I ever took was a few sweaters from Barney's of New York."

She stops herself, winces and looks down at her feet.

"Well, actually, it's kinda not because of the whole...crime part of it."

Grim looks back at the two huge supervillains, then up and down the street, hoping someone else would show up and at least start shooting or something so she'd have a better idea of what to do; finding no relief, she turns back to Nanowire with a rather pained expression.

"Look, I don't have a chance of taking you down, much less both of you, and it sounds like you're fleeing from justice, so you should probably get going; I don't have a cellphone or a comlink or anything, so I'll have to, like, walk to the nearest police station and report you, so that will give you some time..."

She trails off and looks genuinely sad, but can't seem to bring herself to actually go.
