  1. The intern led the Emissary through a maze of hallways to the 1st floor conference room. Lady Liberty was there, sitting at the table, drinking a cup of tea and scrolling through reports on a view screen. When the pair entered, Lady Liberty put down her cup and stood up.

"Emissary, welcome. Please, have a seat. Can we get you anything to drink?"

  2. The other two boys continued swatting at the bugs and tried to run away from the strange newcomers. Brad ran back toward the playground, apparently forgetting about the chain link fence. He ran headlong into it and fell to the ground, out cold. Sam headed in the other direction, hoping to duck behind the nearby row of houses to get away.

The third boy turned blue and collapsed to the ground completely limp.

  3. One of the League interns greeted the Emissary at the door.

"Mr. Emissary," he said. He was trying to look serious, but he was obviously star struck. "Please, come right in. Lady Liberty is waiting for you in the conference room."

The intern held the door open to make way for the silver hero.

  4. Ultimate Power (ditto; I like to keep my games simple)

I actually agree with your sentiment. I'm all about the simple. But Ultimate Power really is Mutants and Masterminds 2.5e. I typically consider it the new and improved errata for the M&M core book. :D

  5. The view of life that McCarthy gives us a peek into in the ending of No Country for Old Men, he displays in all its hideous glory in The Road.

It has an ending too . . . which is surprisingly hopeful.

  6. The alley filled up with smoke, and the shooters disappeared from Ronin's sight . . . as presumably he did from theirs. He could smell them though the smoke: sweat, gunpowder, the smells of war. But the shooters made no sound and didn't fire.
