  1. FWIW, in my own games, I usually do allow lower ranks of Quickness [Limited] to apply to reading. My guess is the average person (average physical ability and average reading skills) could turn pages about about 50x (1 page turn per second) faster than they could read (about 1 page per minute average). Same is true with scrolling through electronic pages (about 1 click per second). I don't think I'd go much higher than 50x though.

  2. I was gonna snarky and post a big 1600x1200 field of black, but I'll save your screens

:D Images are capped at 600x600px, for just such occasions. :)

So . . . really? Just a black field? Is there a method to your "madness"?

  3. I'm sure you've seen this, but just to be clear, I will be sticking with this until its completion or the end of July (whichever comes first). If you want to just kill this and move on to something else run by a GM who is sticking around, :( I won't be offended by that either.

  6. FYI . . . I am going to be scaling back my duties here at FC:PbP, effective immediately. I will be finishing out all of my commitments as a GM and player, but beyond that I will only be handling the technical aspects of the site. So if you have questions about . . . anything that isn't related to the technical operation of the message board, direct it to one of our excellent Staff Members.

I will still be around spamming up the site . . . just not in an official capacity. :D

  7. As with the New Years vignettes, about one page is what we are looking for. If it is longer that's fine, but my guess is most won't be by much. We didn't measure them or anything last time, but if a submission looks significantly shorter than one page, it won't be considered in the contest (should there be one ;) ) nor will it earn a PP award (also same as last time).

  8. FC:PbP is offering the community another "vignette" opportunity. If you'd like to read about our New Years Vignette exercise look: HERE and HERE. If you weren't around in those days (or even if you were), keep reading to find out more!

Who: Any player who is interested . . . for one or both of their characters.

What: Write a 1 page (single spaced) vignette about your character that will take place on July 4th (game time) and has some thematic relationship to the concept/idea/virtue of "freedom." The vignettes don't have to be patriotic necessarily nor are they limited to heroes only . . . they just have to be about "freedom" in some way. If you want to write this cooperatively with another player/character, that is fine, but the submission should be about 1 page per character involved.

When: The deadline for submission will be July 3rd by 5:00 PM EST (GMT -5).

Where: The story can take place anywhere in or around Freedom City you like.

Why: To enhance our community, to flex your writing muscles, to think more deeply about your character, and to earn a bonus PP for your character for the month of July.

How: Once your story is finished and proofed, PM it to one of the staff members (not Barnum). When all the stories are in, one of our staff members will post them to the appropriate forums.

**Also note, there is a chance there there may be some judging of the submissions going on . . . with some prizes. Seriously. :D

    Post here with questions.

  9. Fair and good points. But, if a Player in the course of writing their stories never encounters a Drawback they paid for -- if, say, someone playing a mage with the "must gesture & incant" Power Loss drawback goes on several adventures but never once finds himself in a situation where he cannot gesture/incant -- should the Refs not intervene and tell the player they need to have their PC encounter their Drawback, or re-edit the char to get rid of those points?

I just posted in the super-secret Ref Forum (or as we like to call it "The Rat Cave") concerning the feasibility of "drawback policing." We shall see . . .

    :bat: <-- "Fears the hive mind . . . a little bit."

  10. I'm visiting family for a few days and they don't have an internet connection. I have to run to a local cafe to get online. Please excuse my delays in the meantime; I'll still be able to post, though not frequently.

    Hurry back! :)

And get your family some internet!

  11. Yes, thanks bunches!

Dr A, once you feel like you've got most of this sorted (looks great to me as it is), you may want to post a master copy to the News Forum with a link back to this thread for discussion purposes.
