  1. In the world of Linux users, that puts you at the bottom of the food chain . . . right below Windows ME users. :D

I actually run Ubuntu and XP about equally. My computer won't run Vista. Too old. :(

  2. That is a good idea. I guess I just over looked that power. Did any of you have a problem with the sense dependant (hearing), affects corporeal possession? It is sustained (lasting), will save, standard action (active).

I don't, because Mind Control victims get to keep saving against the effect, they can use Extra Effort to get an immediate additional save, and stunning you will free them from the effect. I think that is plenty of second chances.

  3. About as "abusive" as using Mind Control/Power Control on someone to stunt a new trick off their existing powers.

    Yeah . . . I'd never allow that either. :D

Where's the abuse? If someone's powers are in an unRestricted Device, they should get it taken from the once in a while and used against them

That's not what you are doing here, so that argument is a complete non sequitur. You are trying to find a cheesy way to do something that should take hours in only 6 seconds . . . all while completely dodging the normal check roll. ;)

I also don't see the problem in using Inventor/Jury-Rigging to make 1pp Alternate Powers for existing Devices. IMO, modifying an existing Device should be a lot easier & quicker than building one from scratch (even if you're MacGyvering it).

That is almost never true, and when it is true, it is highly situational. The descriptor on the Tech Priest's staff is heat. It is a glorified flamethrower. And I'm guessing that you couldn't even turn a flamethrower in to a universal technological disruptor much less legitimately claim that said universal technological disruptor would be much, much easier to build because you started with fully assembled flamethrower parts.

I think on the next round, the Tech Priest (who actually has the Inventor feat) is going to jury-rig the floor (which has about 14 PPs worth of Impervious Toughness built into it) into a Teleportation attack device.

Or maybe run outside and jury-rig a car into a battle suit and fly away.

    :rotfl:

  4. Oh yeah, because using extra effort on someone else's device is far less abusive . . .

I wonder if you could do that with someone else's device while they were still holding it. Now that would be something (and make about as much sense)! ;)

    The initiative order is:

    1. All ya'll.

    2. Them.

    :D

  5. As he turned to shoot, Ronin got a good look at his attackers. They were dressed in all black from head to toe. Even their eyes were covered with black goggles. They were ensconced in a tight fitting body armor of some kind that supported all kinds of pockets, straps, and holsters bearing just about every weapon deemed useful in the moder age.

When Ronin fired, the nearest "soldier" was riddled with bullets. His repelling gear locked up to stop his descent, but he dropped his machine gun and fell limp against the building. The remaining three locked themselves off in mid-air about two stories up, flipped their guns over to full-auto, and fired again. Ronin was again pelted with a hail of bullets.

  6. OOC: Attempting to use inventor/jury-rig a 1pp power feat for the staff's Blast power. The power feat is alternate power. Specifically, Nullify (all effects of a tech descriptor at once; Extras: Burst Area, Selective Attack; Flaws: Range/Touch, Side-Effect [failure to successfully use causes a backlash that affects Archeville as the Stun power]), at a rank equal to that of the Blast. It'll take one round to make, so he can try and use it next round.

For the record, I think "Inventing" a 1 PP Alt Power for an existing device (that was not your own) as an "end run" around the inventing rules is pretty cheesy, but since the goal here is to wrap up this thread that has already had to wait far too long and since an instant Nullify isn't very useful in combat, I say let's roll with it. No need to roll or anything.

  7. The Legionnaire wasn't so lucky the second time. The powered fist struck him right under his chin and sent him flying against the back wall of the room. He was out cold.

The Tech Priest that was enveloped in darkness began firing blindly at his opponent. His blasts never even came close to hitting Kizzy, but he did manage to punch a few sizable holes in the back wall of the building.

  8. Sorry. On a few of those I just misread the notation on your sheet. You'll definitely want to clean that up before you post to the Character Bank. At least cite things like rank, cost per rank, and PP cost consistently from one part of the sheet to another. You can look at the approved character sheets for some examples.

Also, you are perfectly free to have your saves and attack bonus at whatever level you like as long as they don't break PL. Just think ahead to what you want to do here. If you want to fight villains, just know that you won't last very long. As it stands right now, average opponents will be hitting you ~75% of the time and you will be failing your Fort and Reflex against their attacks about ~75% of the time. You will also only be hitting them about 25% of the time. If you are fine with those odds, then have at it. If you don't plan on fighting villains, then you should be fine, but do give some thought to what you will do. You are free to do what you want obviously. But you ask for tips, so you got 'em. ;)

And the mechanics of the Dimensional Pocket isn't moot, because that power is attached to a device and a power within that device than can be countered with a good hard sneeze (the DC to counter/nullify a Rank 1 power is 11). Counter the Morph 1 [Metamorph] and you no longer have access to the Cosmic Power Array :) Also, if you have a hard to lose device, rest assured you are going to lose it. That's what you got the discount for.

As for your repeated references to m&m's sigularity character (UP page 148), I can't help you there. That "UP" isn't Ultimate Power, and there is no Singularity in any the books I own. If you don't really want the "black hole" to come into play, I'd just not stat it, and buy my Protection without the device, using "the suit that contains his black hole and that will never come off during game play" descriptor. :)

  9. Just a few quick thoughts . . .

    1. Your saves are way too low (as are almost all of the Archetypes, NPCs, heroes, and villains in nearly all of the printed M&M books). I try to shoot for my saves to average PL.

    2. You can't buy Toughness directly. You can, however, buy the Force Field power, the Protection power, Constitution, or the Defensive Roll feat to improve your Toughness.

    3. Your Defense bonus is only about half of what it should be. You'll be hit almost every time someone tries to hit you. It is good to try to get Defense, Attack, Save DC(s), and Toughness up to PL (trade-offs notwithstanding).

[Edit, actually it's only 2 pts short of your cap.]

    4. If you buy your attack bonus up to +12, that bonus applies to all of your attacks (for 2 PPs per rank). The only way you can buy Melee and Ranged attacks separately is with the Attack Focus feat.

    5. We try to steer players away from the "Uncontrolled" flaw because many of the threads you will be in won't have a Ref all of the time.

    6. I'm not sure why you want to buy your Dimensional Pocket up from Instant to Continuous, and since it is also an attack power, the Refs will probably say "no" anyway. To date we have never approved a non-instant attack power.

    7. I know you are only buying the minimum Morph to support the Metamorph Power Feat, but be careful, at only 1 Rank your Morph/Metamorph is going to be super easy to nullify and counter. That could essentially shut down (with very little effort) your fat Cosmic Power array.

  10. This afternoon (5/20 EST) we have been experiencing "mini outages" on our server. None have lasted longer than a few minutes, but there have been several. I am trying to track down the problem now, but I am pretty sure it is being cause by a faulty CPU-consuming script on another site that shares the server with us. As soon (if) I know more, I will pass it along.

If you are working on a post during an outage and get the "white screen of death," after pressing "submit," press the back button on your browser. Your post should still be there if you have your browser set to cache web pages. Until the mini-outages issue is solved, you may want to highlight and copy your post before pressing submit. Just in case.

    Thanks for understanding.

  11. "Uh . . ." Ginny started. She had walked a few paces away from the other two toward the woods. "Uh . . . you mean a path . . . like that one?"

Ginny pointed toward the nearest edge of the woods on the west side of Lantern Hill. There was clearly an opening in the trees, forming a small path that lead off into the darkness. "Was that there before?" Ginny rubbed her eyes to make sure she was actually seeing what she was seeing.
