  1. Kristin raised an eyebrow as Supercape dialed up zero gravity. Wow OK now that is seriously cool! A moment later as the gravity faded away however she felt her feet float slowly off the ground, and the sudden disorientation made her stomach lurch. The colour drained alarmingly from her face and for a moment she looked like she might be ill. A couple of deep breaths restored her composure however, and she managed to laugh "Maybe you should have left the bracelet thing on me for that!" Back on track, she gestured her hand at the block Supercape had separated from the pile and lifted it gently out of his hands with her telekinesis. The block floated easily upwards.. and kept on going until it was above head height. "That's different!" she said with a smile. There's nothing to make it stop if I push upwards, so unless I stop it myself it keeps on going!" She experimented for a moment, moving the block up, down and from side to side, then sent it floating slowly towards Supercape and released her mental grip on it completely. "Hey catch!" she said with a grin as the block continued to move towards the scientist hero.
  2. Kristin nodded and set herself to the task of testing her limits, amused by Supercape's enthusiasm and his pep-talk but knowing that he was correct - knowing how much she could lift in a pinch was definitely a good idea. The warmth in the simulator room and the effort of exerting her powers had her sweating by the time the load approached 1500kgs, and as Supercape went to add another block to the pile she shook her head, quickly saying "I think I have to put them down!" through gritted teeth. She lowered the weights back down softly enough, although there was a couple of loud thunks as one or two fell off the pile. She wiped her face a bit and looked over at Supercape. "I could maybe go a little further if I really had to," she said. "But that was starting to get to the point where it hurts.."
  3. Kristin lowered the load even more carefully than before, and breathed a definite sigh of relief once the weights were safely settled. She raised an eyebrow as Supercape had yet another load of weights brought out, then gave herself a bit of a shake as she tried to loosen up. This was fairly stressful stuff! "Are you sure you want me to try more? I know I can definitely do more, but I don't want to have an accident and drop it and break your lab!" She shrugged. "I guess I could just try to lift it a tiny bit off the ground. That wouldn't break the floor if I let go by accident would it?" She grinned at Supercape again. "It's your lab! How much do you trust me? I guess I'm game if you are!" I bet he wants me to try more!
  4. Kristin grinned "Not getting hit sounds like a pretty good plan. Fair warning though, I'm not a hundred percent on top of controlling my telekinesis yet. I don't mess it up too often, but it does still happen. And this is going to be my first time using it under any kind of press as well as my first time working with a team for anything other than football. I'll do my best though! Have you guys done anything like this before?" She shrugged as she looked around to find the last member of the team was still nowhere in sight. "I have no idea who we're teaming up with. I don't even know what we're going to be doing exactly, just that we're going to the doom room. And according to a couple of girls from my class that I should be ready to get my butt kicked!" A grin lit up her face as she thought about that. "Should be fun though!"
  5. Kristin chuckled "OK OK I'll try not to break your lab!" as she lowered the weights slowly back to the floor and released her hold on them. "I can't afford to pay for the repairs!" she grinned, then stretched a little. "I think I tense up a bit when I do that don't I? she asked. "It'd probably not be quite so hard if I could work out how to relax properly.." She chewed on her bottom lip as she regarded the rather large pile of weights. "A ton is a lot you know.." she said dubiously, then grinned at the challenge. Once again she reached out and wrapped her power around the weights and hauled them off the floor, slower this time as she took it a little more carefully. Her breath hissed out between her teeth as she got the weights to chest height and realised that she was holding her breath. "See that's pretty heavy.." she said. "It's like an effort, but I'm pretty sure I could do it for a while if I had to!"
  6. "Man! You can both fly? That's really cool!" She chuckled with a shake of her head. "I can't do that.. yet anyway. Hopefully I might be able to learn. I'm a telekinetic. I move things with my mind. Pretty much anything so long as I can see it." She shivered as the wind picked up again for a moment. "I'm not really sure what the limits of that are yet, but when I first broke it out I was lifting a car along with some other stuff. I can also manage to block things with it. Like a telekinetic barrier. Compressing the air and stuff. Anyway, mostly I'm still learning what I'm capable of." "You guys sound pretty powerful.." she said with an grin. "Hope I don't get in the way! I might just hide behind you guys and then take all the credit at the end!" The mischievous expression on her face made it pretty clear she was kidding, but it was also pretty obvious that she was more than a little nervous about the upcoming exercise.
  7. Kristin paused to think about the question. "It's hard to explain," she answered. "It's not the same as physical exercise. I don't get out of breath or end up with sore muscles or anything like that. I'm way more likely to give myself a headache than anything else like when I did the writing before." She shrugged. "But if I overdo it I still feel tired. It definitely takes something out of me but I really can't tell you exactly how." Holding out her arm she let Supercape secure the monitor bracelet, then flexed her arm around a little when she felt how tight it was. "Maybe once we get done here you'll be able to tell me how I feel?" she laughed. With a deep breath she turned to address the weights as they were dropped off, then reached out towards them. A faint green glow enveloped them as they lifted slowly off the ground and rose to approximately head height. "That's not very hard.." she said with a glance at the scientist. "You know when you pick up something that's pretty heavy but you still think you could carry it for a while with no trouble? That's about how this feels."
  8. Assuming I worked it out right when I made up the character Glow would top out at 1.5 tons as a heavy load without putting extra effort into it. Does that sound about right?
  9. Kristin shrugged, then folded her arms across her chest. "I really don't know what my upper limits are. Like I said before, I know I've lifted a car, but that might have been a slightly special situation and I definitely wasn't consciously controlling it when I did that." She chewed on her bottom lip for a second or two. "In the gym at Claremont I've stacked up about four hundred kilos and moved that about some. It didn't seem all that difficult at the time either so I reckon I can probably do a fair bit more than that. I wasn't really keen to push my luck when I'd only just arrived there though, I didn't think they'd take too kindly to me trashing the place on accident!" An idea occurred to her. "Maybe we can start smaller and move up to something I can't move? Seems like a good way to work out where the limit is?"
  10. Kristin turned in a circle as she found herself suddenly in the middle of a forest, more than impressed at how realistic the simulation was. As the temperature rose to match she walked over to a nearby tree and brushed her fingers along the bark to see if the texture matched the look. The mischievous grin returned to her face as she looked over at Supercape again. "If this is supposed to be England shouldn't it be cold and rainy and horrible or something?" she giggled as she turned to lean on the tree. "No really, this is beautiful. It's different to the forest near where I lived, but definitely really nice." After a couple more moments spent comfortably leaned against the tree she pushed off it and walked into a little clear space and asked "So what are we doing next? I think you mentioned 'bigger stuff'"? she asked with a little gleam in her eye.
  11. Kristin looked a little awestruck as she stood next to Supercape and looked around the deactivated simulation room. After listening to him explain what it was capable she put her hands on her hips and laughed "I think I want one. I have a feeling I might need to save my allowance for a bit though!" Hmm what kind of scenery.. well I have no idea! she thought, then looked back over at Supercape as an idea popped into her head. "I don't really know, something outdoors in the sun maybe? It would be nice to be outside and not freezing my butt off for a change! I might not have wanted to come to Claremont if I'd looked up the weather first!" That's a lie... she immediately admitted to herself as she walked a few steps further into the simulator. Wouldn't be swap any of it except for maybe how it started.
  12. Kristin laughed a little at having made Supercape seem uncomfortable as she hauled the yellow and blue jumpsuit out of her bag. "Back in a minute!" she grinned brightly as she ducked into the bathrooms to change. As she slipped into the suit she marveled once again at how closely it fit wondered how Claremont had managed to get one made so perfectly for her build without ever having taken her measurements. Even the blue shoes she pulled on to complete the look were extremely comfortable! Gah I'm skinny! she thought to herself with a giggle as she straightened and caught a look at herself in a mirror. Still, I reckon this thing looks pretty good on me... She stuffed her clothes back in her bag and headed back out to rejoin Supercape. "I think I'm ready" she said, then wondered exactly what she was supposed to be ready for!
  13. I knew that move object is supposed to be able to move most anything unless it's limited in some way, but I didn't know how special your quantum matter was supposed to be, so I thought I'd check. I think that if she has any trouble in the future it'll be an on-the-spot thing. Magic shielding against mental effects or something? Also, you don't have to apologise! Even if you do repeat something I know it's good to have a refresher course! :D
  14. Kristin stepped out of the glass enclosure and smiled at Supercape as she said "Being able to move anything has to be better than running into things I can't move! I get the feeling I'm not about to be running into Quantum matter around the place too often though?" She collected her jacket off the back of the chair then stooped to pick up her bag before turning back towards the scientist. "So where are the simulator rooms?". A moment later another thought occurred to her and an impish, mischievous grin crossed her face. "And have you got somewhere for me to get changed that has less than a hundred different recording devices installed?" she laughed as she gestured at all of the high-tech gear spread around the room.
  15. Kristin nodded, and repeated the names back to make sure they stuck in her head. "Serge, Subito. Nice to meet you guys! Interesting names! They kinda don't sound like you'd be from around here either right?" She smiled at Serge. "Yep, I guess I'm teaming up with you guys for this Doom room thing. And yes I'm feeling nervous! I think I'm equal parts terrified and excited! I've heard some pretty scary things from a couple of other girls. People getting blasted, robots, simulated deathtraps, all kinds! I'm not sure I'm really ready for all that yet!" A thought struck her and she laughed a little as she rubbed her throat. "Still, I guess it probably can't be any harder than trying to spar with Etain. I think the closest I came to actually doing anything to her was the breeze of my attacks zipping past messing her hair up a bit!" "Uh.. I guess if we're teaming up I should ask what you guys can do? Might be helpful to know in advance.."
  16. I don't know if Glow is supposed to be able to affect the Quantum matter, so I just left it at "she tried to" so that you can post the result. Does that make sense? I also made the assumption that her very minor knowledge of science isn't enough to make the quantum matter realise it's not allowed around here!
  17. Kristin shook her head to clear the dizziness away a little, then raised an eyebrow at how enthusiastic Supercape seemed to be about the readings on his monitoring equipment. "Yep, fine control is definitely the hardest thing just yet." "I haven't found anything I can't affect with it so far," she said with a shrug. "Well except for me that is! And I can affect other people so I'm guessing that's not a "can't affect living things" or anything and just my brain being thick!" The appearance of the Quantum matter cube startled her a little, but she recovered quickly and cocked her head to the side as she asked "Did that just appear out of nowhere? isn't that impossible? I'm sure there's a rule that says matter can't be created. It's not an illusion or something is it? Is that why I'm not supposed to look too close?" Obviously intrigued, she walked around the cube a couple of times. "Whatever it is it's very pretty!" she grinned, then reached out towards it with her telekinesis. With a little mental poke she tried to send it floating towards the side of the glass room with the most monitoring equipment.
  18. Kristin shucked off her jacket and hung it on the back of her chair before she followed Supercape over to the glass enclosure. "Have you got enough gizmos watching here?" she asked with a laugh, "Are you sure you wouldn't like to add a couple more before I start?" In truth she looked a little hesitant as she turned to address the pen and paper. "My handwriting is pretty messy you know, this is probably not going to be very good at all!". Her hands went to her hips as she stood a couple of feet from the pen and paper. The pen floated up into the air a moment later and the cap popped off then flipped sideways to bounce off the glass. Kristin's face took on a look of intense concentration as the pen floated down towards the paper tip first then unsteadily started to scrawl block letters on the page. A few seconds later she looked up and floated the pen back towards herself then plucked it out of the air. With a grimace she rubbed at her temples, then gestured at the paper, which lifted off the floor and then slapped firmly against the glass wall. The writing was large and childlike, but clearly read "HI SUPERCAPE". The girl shrugged. "Close control like that is really hard by the way. It makes my head hurt and I get a little dizzy. I can do big a whole lot easier than I can do little for some reason. I've been practicing though. A couple of weeks ago the best I would have been able to do was a bit of scribble!"
  19. Never can have too much instruction on how things work! And this would be my first time using extra effort! Kristin will add the precise feat to her telekinesis for the moment. I'll leave the fatigue for now and play her giving herself a nice headache. If she needs to get rid of it later she can still spend a hero point for that then right? (As in if she doesn't buy it off immediately she can buy it off later?)
  20. Kristin tried to cover her mouth to conceal her snicker as Supercape nearly choked on his tea. "Ok so I haven't tried to lift a whole car since then, but a few hundred kilos I can do for sure. I haven't been able to do nearly that many things at once either. I guess the first shock really made me push it." She shrugged "I'm not a hundred percent sure exactly how I work yet. I know I break Newton's third law. For every action there really isn't an opposite reaction. If I push on a building that won't move I don't go flying backwards. I might crack some bricks, but that's about it." "As for affecting myself, making myself fly or pushing myself around.. well I can't seem to do that at all. I can affect things I'm wearing." she said as she made the zipper of her jacket slide up and down for effect. "But my own body might as well not be there at all if I try to push on myself. I don't know, I've been told it's possibly just a mental block and that I might be able to push past it. I hope so, being able to fly would be pretty cool!"
  21. Kristin smiled as she tucked her legs up under herself on the chair and sat up straight. She glanced at the camera, then grinned again, complaining "I'm camera shy you know!" even though she clearly didn't seem very bothered by the setup. "16, human and female all sound right. Last time I checked anyway!" she chuckled, then looked a bit more serious. "OK, My name is Kristin and I'm from Australia. I'm telekinetic." To illustrate the point she gestured at a pen sitting on a desk next to her and it floated over towards her. She plucked it out of the air and twirled it in her fingers as she continued. "As for when I found out.. well I guess I showed some signs when I was little. Things crashed and fell over lots when I slept, but we never really noticed it. I like to sleep with a window open." She gave a little shrug. "If you want to see how I really found out, type my name into Google or something. I was on the evening news and all that." "The short version," she continued "is that two thugs nearly ran me and a group of my friends and my sister over trying to run away from the police. My sister knocked me out of the way and got hit herself and I guess I snapped a little. I don't remember it very good, but I had the car floating in circles around me along with about half a ton of gravel and bits and pieces."
  22. Kristin stuffed her map of the campus into a jacket pocket as she reached the sports fields, then broke into a jog as she spotted two boys at the opposite end. The wind blustered around her and she was glad for an excuse to run across the field and warm up a little. As always, the run improved her mood, and she smiled at the way her breath fogged in the cold air. As she reached the other two students she stopped and adjusted the sports bag she carried on her shoulder, then asked "Are you guys here waiting for a Doom room exercise thing? I'm Kristin!". She shook hands with Subito and gave him a bright smile, then looked at Serge curiously as she held her gloved hand out towards him. "I think I've met you, you're in my maths class right? I don't remember your name.. Sorry! I'm always bad at that!" "Wow why are we meeting out here anyway, this is a horrible place to stand if you're not playing football!" she chuckled as the wind picked up once again.
  23. The elevator ride didn't take nearly as long as she would have expected for 19 floors, and she looked around curiously as she followed Supercape out into the hall. "I don't mind needing the suit, but I'd rather not need the infirmary as well!" Kristin chuckled as Supercape mentioned it in passing. She followed him into room 19.4 and looked about with a grin. Looks almost as messy as my sister's bedroom! "I'm game for tests!" She said with a grin. "No needles though! But really, I'm looking forward to working out what I can do and how I do it a little bit more. I've not quite got it properly nailed down yet. I still sometimes move things without meaning to, and sometimes I can't move things when I should be able to. I also can't seem to affect myself at all which is a bit of a nuisance. People keep telling me I'm supposed to be able to but it just doesn't work for me so far!"
  24. Kristin turned towards the elevator as it opened and Supercape made his rather enthusiastic entrance. Unable to contain her smile at his energy, she accepted the handshake as she looked up at the rather large man and replied "Thankyou sir, nice to meet you". As she pinned the visitor badge to her jacket she paused to thank Jenkins for his help, then turned back to Supercape. "I just received an email from Mister Marquez." She said as she held up the printed sheet. "It didn't really say much, just the time of my appointment, and how to get here as well as saying that I might receive some lessons on the physics of Telekinesis and that I should bring my jumpsuit in case I needed it." She laughed, suddenly a little nervous. "That last bit sounds just a tiny bit ominous now that I think about it?"
  25. Kristin paid her taxi fare, only remembering to hurriedly add a tip after receiving a baleful glare, then stepped out onto the sidewalk. She paused a little and looked up at the curved outer of the building and wished she had been able to turn up a little more information. Apparently this was a seriously high-tech place but that was about all she knew. A gust of wind chilled her through, so she pulled her jacket tighter, slung her duffel bag over her shoulder and made her way quickly over to the entrance. The doors slide open, so she headed inside. With a deep breath she headed over to the reception desk and waited patiently for the receptionist there to finish a phone call. "Hi. I'm Kristin Jones. I'm here to see uhh.. Supercape" she said, quickly checking the printed sheet of her invitation to make sure she had the right name. "I think I'm a little early."
