1. As a Move action, Net Fly runs up to the lone standing Doombot. As a Standard action, he activates his Sonic Fists(Autofire). ..... ..... ..... ..... ..... Yeah.... It's that bad.... ..... ..... ..... 1d20+5 → [1,5] = (6) Horay for crits!(hey a critical failure is still a critical)...
2. Net Fly witnessed as his teammates took to action, and he followed suit. From where he was, he crossed his arms in front of his chest, and started charging energy. As soon as Glow avoided the pulse from one of the robots, Net Fly had found his target. Once the vibrational energy had built up in his chest phone, he unleashed a powerful beam attack at the robot, by uncrossing his arms and allowing the energy to flow towards the robot, which, while it got hit, didn't seem to be phazed by the attack. Putting all of his strength behind the next blow, Net Fly's fists started to glow, as he immediately threw them forward, creating a great sonic blast that hit the robot squarely on the chest.
3. Net Fly will use his Full round Action to hit Doombot #1 with his Sonic Beam. 1d20+5 → [13,5] = (18) If it hits, Doombot #1 saves against a DC24 toughness AND a DC19 Fortitude(the later which causes daze, if) Surging (hehe) to get another Standard action using Sonic Blast to attack Doombot #1, again 1d20+9 → [7,9] = (16) The Doombot saves against Toughness DC24
4. Ummm, Isn't it Heraldo's turn first? I mean, the 23 roll was a tiebreaker, not an initiative. Technically speaking shouldn't i go after Doombot #4, who has a 10 initiative?
5. 1d20+3 → [20,3] = (23) ...yeah.
6. Net Fly's Initiative: 1d20+3 → [4,3] = (7) I am disappoint :(
7. Serge was already in costume, except for the mask that hanged from his back. As soon as mister Archer said that they should put in their costumes, Serge opted to pull his mask on. Sure, no one here to geopardize my identity, but the mask sure helps me get into the right mindset. Besides, for the Net-Dive harness to actually work, it must be in contact with my brain. And you never know when you'll need to make a dive into a computer mainframe, now, do you? he thought, as he once again prepared himself mentaly. Checking his body, especially his joints, to see if they could move easily, and thus, not hinder him, Net Fly announced "I'm ready, guys, and gal. Whenever you are. Let's start this show." All the while, he was thinking about what Kristin had said earlier. A grim, yet sad smile formed behind his mask. Serge hadn't said anything, back then, but not because Kristin's views made him realize he was obsessing over nothing(He wasn't. Not over nothing, and not even just something, but everything). The truth of the fact was, Serge realised that Kristin hadn't really failed in her life or in her superheroics, not the kind of failure that comes with a great cost, and the helpnessness that borns. As such, there was no way for him to make her understand his point of view, without her experiencing such a thing. And I hope she never has to. he thought sincerely However, that belonged to the past. Even Marcus agreed on that point, and Serge had no doubt the senior had seen and experienced much worse things than him. Now, in front of him and his teammates, waited a new series of challenges, that would demand his full attention. Bracing himself, Net Fly was ready to tackle whatever lied ahead... well, maybe not every 'whatever', but still...
8. "I've been using my abilities for quite some time now, actually, although I'm still running adjustments with the suit. I've fought my share of robbers, and even went up against a few low powered villains..." Serge trailed a bit, as he looked somewhat uncomfortable "Unfortunately, my performance was... quite a bit less than stellar than I would have prefered to claim. In fact, the realization that I could be much better prepared to handle those situations is the main reason I enrolled. And, as you may have heard, me and Subito went up against a bona fide super villainess, one named Looking Glass... and yeah, we had assistance from another vigilante, and we still got trounced, for the most part. That we managed to subdue her was some good happenstance. Still, I guess we've learned quite a few tricks since then, but the only way to tell for sure is to test them."
9. "You're right." Serge said, at the senior's words. "I suppose there's no need for unnescessary worrying." Leaving the guidelines at the table, Serge leaned back, and said to the others "Well, I'm ready... at least as ready as I can be." he finished somewhat meekly. The anticipation he felt for the training simulation had filled him with equal parts of dread and excitement. Well, this is it. This is why I enlisted on the Claremont Academy. After all the lessons, the time has come for me to test what I've learned. he thought, as he looked at Subito and Kristin. ...I just hope I won't hold them back.
10. After taking a brief glance at the rules, Serge remarked at his classmates "Well, the guidelines seem rather sensible. Conditioning our performance so that we will be performing judiciously, if ever the need for real combat arises. It is easy to hold back to the point of ineffectiveness, as it is easy to go all out without regards to your surroundings, but achieving that golden balance will take some work, and the simulator is specifically designed to facilitate such senarios. In other words, we will be tested on both our combat abilities, and our character." Scratching his chin, he delved deeper into the guidelines, making mental notes as he did so. "So... in other words, we will start off with the Beginner's Level, which by no means should we expect to be easy. Depending on our performance, we will also be able to procceed to a higher difficulty, though it doesn't specify if the difficulty will change dynamically(that is, during the course of the simulation, in direct response to our performance, like a rubber-band), or if it will take effect on another session... heh." Serge chuckled slightly, as a thought occured to him. "If this room could be mass produced and tinkered with, it could revolutionize crime fighting, and even warfare, and by revolutionize, I mean solve a few problems, only to give rise to several others... I wouldn't be surprised if this institute had dozens of secrets that could alter our everyday lives on a global scale, completely sealed to all but the most trusted sets of eyes(and for good reasons). Well... I would be surprised, depending on the secrets but the point still stands." he said as an aside, to Kristin and Subito.
11. Serge toyed with the idea, for a bit. "Magic, huh? I had heard that there were people who could do that. Never got the chance to study it, personally..." he said, the initial skeptisism draining away, the more he thought about it. Seeing Marcus' look of anticipation, Serge decided to alleviate some of the senior's... worries. "I mean, yeah, it sounds irrational but, a)magic isn't supposed to be rational in the first place, so that's not saying much, and b)my cells behave in a rather irrational manner, as far as normal cells are concerned. Heh. Just because I can explain my powers with scientific terms, doesn't mean that they are any less peculiar than magic." Pointing at his friend, he continued "Besides, Subito, here, is blessed by the Spirit of Puerto Rico. From where I'm standing, that's plenty of magic, yet I'm not about to dismiss it, or anything." "So, umm... anyways. Unless we need anything else, I think we should head for the Doom Room. Eh-heh..." Serge said somewhat awkwardly, while he rubbed his arm. "... I mean, no worries. It's not like we can't take our time or anything." he finished weakly.
12. "Hello, Marcus. And I'm Serge. A pleasure." Serge said with a light smile, waving to the senior. "Nah, it's okay." he responded. "The gist of it is, my body vibrates at high frequencies, which, besides enhancing my physical traits and granting me great speed, the ability to fly, and stick on surfaces, itpowers up my suit, which in turn powers up my vibrational capabilities, which in turn power my suit further more, et cetera. The end result of that loop is that I can withstand pain by dampening impacts, I can lift up to 4.8 tons of weight, and I can convert my strength into sonic energy, which I can channel through my gloves, or my chest phone." Serge explained, tapping the white, slim megaphone that was strapped on his chest.
13. "That's true. It's not your powers that make you a hero, it's how you use them." Serge mused. Serge looked uncomfortably at Subito, for a moment, before responding "Well, see, uh... I wouldn't call it practice, per se... but there was an incident where me and Subito had to work together, in order to get things under control, and, suffice to say, we almost got our socks handed to us. Thankfully, we had some outside help from a free agent." he explained, while scratching the back of his head. "Not a clue, I'm afraid. I'm as much in the dark as you two are..." Serge responded uncertainly. "I think it would be best for us to just wait. Patience, after all, is a virtue." he sagely quoted, while his hands shook visibly. Of course, that's easier said than done.
14. "As for me," Serge responded, "well, my cells can vibrate in high frequencies at will, granting me with a slightly above average strength, superhuman speed, the ability to fly and even cling on walls. Pretty mundane and boring stuff, actually. This, however..." he said, pointing at the grey suit he was wearing, "...is a special suit. Anyone else wearing it, and it may protect them from mild temperatures. Me, on the other hand..." looking quite proud, Serge explained with an abridged version some of the finer intricacies of the Vibro Suit "...when I wear it, my vibrational capabilities power the suit, which in turn, amplifies said capabilities, creating a short loop between suit and innate powers, up to a point. It magnifies my strength by many degrees, it sharpens my reflexes and reaction times, slows down the impact from attacks, and, what is possibly the coolest part..." at that point, Serge made two fists in front of him, facing upwards. The fists soon became covered by blueish-hued vibrational energy waves that coursed back and forth. "...it allows me to harnesh vibrational beams, which I can use to punch my opponents really hard, or throw them from a distance!" Taking a more proud look on the suit, Serge explained "My invention. Well, mostly. Except for the blaster gloves, everything else. So, with that in mind, what is your specialty, Kristin?"
15. The last month had gone by relatively calmly for Serge, without many occurences, save for one mall-related incident. During that time, Serge had studied hard, in order to make sure he would pass the tests. He and Subito had become good friends, especially after taking down the illusionist super villainness that goes by the name Looking Glass. Upon hearing about that incident, Old man Summers, as the students affectionally called him, had called the two boys to scold them for taking part in an unauthorised excericise of vigilantism, and grounded them for the rest of the month. On the record. Off the record, he congratulated them for their decisiveness, bravery, and effectiveness in containing the situation. Say what you will about the headmaster. Serge thought. He is strict, but also fair. Now, the time for Serge and Subito to test their mettle once again, this time under more regulated conditions, but that wasn't to say that it would be any easier. Far from it, the Doom Room is notorious for the challenge it provides even for senior staff members. As Serge and Subito were waiting in the Athletic Field, another student approached them and greeted them. Serge smiled at her, as he waved her concerns away "Hahahaha, nonsense. You don't have to apologize for that, Kristin. We didn't get the chance to hang out outside of a class, so it's only natural. I'm Serge Explinker, and this wonderful fellow by my side is one Subito Sondo, superhero-on-the-making extraordinaire!" Serge announced with dramatic flair, accompanied with motions he made with his hands. "So, Kristin. You are also scheduled for the training excercise in the Doom Room, is that correct? Are you feeling nervous?" He inquired.
16. "A whole month, huh? I guess we'd better give it our best and pass those exams, then. We can worry about finding a supervisor later." Serge looked back at Subito, the same determination taking over him. "You know, Subito, it's always nice making new friends in your new school, and I would very much like hanging around with you. You seem like a cool person. So, what do you say, huh? We could go out, one of these days, and watch a movie, or play some billiards or go bowling." he said, while extending his hand towards Subito, gesturing for a handshake. "And who knows, we may even get to team up on a patrol, one day."
17. "Better? Hah!" Serge asked incredulously. He looked Subito up and down, once again, and he responded with honesty "...perhaps. But as you do not sell your height short, so should you not sell your story short." he said, beaming a sincere smile at Subito. "When you first got your powers, and the opportunity, you arose to the challenge, you stood your ground, and you saved two lives; your fellow worker's and yours! Be proud of that. I, for one, know I am proud to be talking to you." But as Serge said that, his smile suddenly started wanning a bit. a sorrowful look formed in his eyes, as he reminisced his own beginnings. "I know I can't say the same for myself. When I got my powers, I thought it was cool, sure, but super-heroing? Going out of my way to help people? That wasn't part of my plans, not at all. I needed a wake-up call to do so, and even then, it was too late; someone had payed for my indecissiveness with their own life..." "Oh, well." Giving out a sigh, Serge regained some light in his eyes, as he and Subito continued talking "No sense dwelling in the past, I suppose. What's important right now is that we are here, and we have the opportunity to improve ourselves..." pausing a bit, a thought occured to him, as he continued "...though, now that I think about it, I didn't have any opportunity to do some improving yet. I mean, yeah, I figured there would be theoretical lessons, but I figured that we would also try some more hands-on training, you know? Flex our muscles and powers, as well as our brains."
18. "Heh, ain't nothing wrong with that." Serge reassured Subito with a light chuckle. "Well, uhh, see..." Serge replied somewhat awkwardly, while scratching the back of his head "I'm not sure what my name means. It's root is basically the latin name Sergius, but what that, in turn, means is a mystery even to profesional linguists." he finished lamely. "I'm pretty sure it does mean something-I mean, all names do-but it's meaning eludes me..." After the metaphorical tumbleweed rolled by, Serge decided that a change of topic was in order "So, Subito, tell me, why did you decide to enroll here? Was there any particularly special reason?"
19. "Just a day, though I'm still familiarizing myself with the grounds." Serge responded, while the two boys shook hands. "I was feeling a bit bored, actually, and decided to have a walk and look around. No..." he interrupted himself, looking slightly sideways "...not bored. Excited. I was feeling way too excited to just stay in the dorms. And what about you?" Serge regarded the other boy, who had introduced himself as Subito. "You don't seem the lost kind, so I gather you are looking around as well. Subito, you said, correct? That's latin... Italian, if I recall correctly, emm... fast? Quick? Quickly?"
20. First post in IC. I wanted to make it a bit more flashbacky, allow for Serge to expand on why he decided to enroll, and how he managed it. If there is any problem with it, Arichamus, tell me and I will edit it at once. EDIT: Also, I want to inform you that I will be going in 3 hours(approx), and won't be able to post any further today... At the very least, I'll see what I can do tonight.
21. Serge had just started attending classes at the Claremont Academy. While he is not entirely unfamiliar with his skills and capabilities, he had come to know his shortcomings all to well. The point was really driven to him when, during a routine chase, as the superhero Net Fly, he misshot and accidentally blew up an empty car, which twirled in the air and almost crushed a pedestrian. Net Fly managed to save him, but he was disoriented, and the thieves took the chance to take Net Fly by surprize and mercilessly beat him. With considerable effort, Net Fly managed to overpower them, and render them unconcious for the police to take care, but the event served as a wake-up call. Serge had realized that if he didn't up his game as Net Fly, then even regular street thugs would cause him problems. Searching for a school for superheroes wasn't as simple as typing 'super hero school' in an internet browser, but Serge knew his way through the net just as well as he knew his way through a computer. It wasn't hard finding a peculiar school which stood out for it's nonsensically strict admitance procedure, cavalier refusal to consistently admit-despite it's prestigious stature-wealthy entrants, many vague connections to a number of peculiar incidents, and an exhorbitant amount of budget, even for a prestigious school. Following events and links, Serge was able to piece together the fact that Claremont Academy was far more than it advertised. Getting himself admitted took considerably more effort, but he managed to impress Duncan Summers, the headmaster of Claremont Academy(that is to say, he impressed him enough for Summers to allow Serge to enroll). The first day on the academy had ended for Serge, and now, he decided to take in the view of the campus, find his way around the corridors, explore the facilities, and get aquaintanted with the school grounds in general. While walking in the now almost deserted quad, Serge stumbled upon another student. The boy wasn't tall, but he certainly looked imposing. Waving at him, and with a cheery face, he said "Hello!" Walking closer towards him, Serge said, extending his hand "Hi. I am a new student here. My name's Serge. Pleased to make your aquaintance."
22. Net Fly Appearance: A stupid typographic error on my part, in his appearance I mention Serge wears sunglasses, when in fact I meant prescription reading glasses. A lean, light-skinned teenager of medium height, Serge has curly short blonde hair and green eyes. He wears sunglasses, although ever since his powers awoken, he stopped needing them. His casual attire consists of lion-colored baggy pants or jeans, a light-grey tank-top and a green camp shirt. Powers: A minor mistake in his powers. I have listed him as having 5 alternate powers in his Sonic Converter Array on the Vibro Suit Device, when in fact he only has 3 alternate powers. Device 6 (30PP Container; Flaws: Hard-To-Lose, Feats: Restricted 2[Net Fly]) [26PP] (Vibro-Suit) [device]Sonic Converter 9 (18PP Array; Feats: Alternate Power 5) [23PP]
Base Power: Enhanced Strength 14 (Extras: Linked[Super Strength]) + Super Strength 2 (Effective Strength 38, Heavy Load 2.4 tons, Extras: Linked[Enhanced Strength]) [14 + 4= 18PP] (Volume Amp) Alternate Power: Damage 7 (Extras: Autofire, Feats: Knockback 2, Mighty, Split Attack) [18PP] (Sonic Fists) Alternate Power: Blast 8 (200-2000 feet, Feats: Improved Range, Split Attack) [18PP] (Sonic Blasts) Alternate Power: Blast 9 (90-900 feet, Extras: Linked[Stun], Flaws: Action(Full Round)) + Stun 9 (Extras: Linked[Blast], Range[Ranged], Flaws: Action(Full Round), Daze) [9 + 9 = 18PP] (Sonic Beam)
Datalink 1 (Radio, 10 feet, Feats: Cuberspace) [2PP] (Net-Dive Harnesh) Impervious on Toughness 5 [5PP] (Vibro-Field)[/device] That leaves me with 2 free PPs in the device, which I wish to spend in order to improve the Sonic Converter Array from a 9-rank array to a 10-rank, 20PP array(23PPs total cost). Further modifications for each power inside the array:  Volume Amp: +1 Super Strength rank, for an Effective Strength of 43, a Heavy load of 4.8 tons, and a grapple bonus of +5/+7/+19(yeah, the grapple bonus was also miscalculated, citing a maximum grapple of +16. It ignored the 2 ranks of Super Strength.) Sonic Fists: Adding 2 ranks of the Penetrating Extra(20PPs total cost) Sonic Blasts: +1 Blast rank, making it's range 225-900(another mistake, I had listed it's maximum range as if I had the Progression:Range Feat), and improving it's DC to DC24(20PPs total cost) Sonic Beam: Adding 1 rank of the Improved Range Feat on both Blast and Stun Powers, for a range of 225-900ft(20PPs total cost) So, in conclusion, the character sheet should look like that: Fly Paper'd by Gizmo
23. Subito's impassioned speech had startled him a lot, and yet, Serge was still feeling depressed. "You ARE right that this isn't a contest, but if you think it will get easier just like that, then you are deluding yourself, my friend. If there IS something to take from what transpired before, it's that we should redouble our efforts towards honing our abilities, instincts, and everything else we could use to help others in their need." Patting thankfully Subito on the shoulders, Serge said "...sigh... I guess there's not much reason lingering on the past, is it?" Finally finding the strength and courage to flash a more genuine smile, Serge said "Well, it's almost 9 and a half, by now. Think we can afford another round of pool before curfew?"
