1. Which Wesley? Sandman's character? The casino is a pretty big place. I'll split the adventure if I have to and have a High PL/Low PL group. The absolute maximum people I'm having in a group is 6. I'd find 4 more ideal. As for the other mystery adventure... That particular adventure is the start of a whole campaign. This is a standalone adventure which may be recurring depending on whether people have fun or don't have fun. Rest assured, I'll be running it at some point. I'll discuss PLs and what is appropriate or not then.
2. Elder Servants go to 11. Looks like you'll beat 'em to the punch, LS.
3. Not to worry. Creature Feature's mighty 9 will surely save the day. Your call then, LS. Nasty demons or punchable demons?
4. For clarity, if there's room, would you use both characters in their respective roles? Or would you rather stick with one side of the adventure - whatever that might be?
5. The South Freedom Boardwalk is a crossroads of fate. The casinos buzz with activity as the rich suddenly become poor and the poor can become rich in the same instant. One right step is the step to fame, fortune, and happiness while one wrong step leads to an unmarked grave at the bottom of the South River. In such a place, emotions run high and, for better or ill, choices are made. In a place called "The Luxury", a self-proclaimed casino, hotel, and family attraction, the lights stay on well into the night. There is no noise to be heard outside the building, and the events inside remain a mystery to those who are not curious enough to open the door. At 3AM on the dot, the entire building is entrapped within a large, shining red dome. It transcends common sensibilities and conventional means of breaking through. Worse yet, it is growing at an alarming rate... By the morning, the police have been called in and superheroes are signaled. Only you can find the answers that will save Freedom City! Hello everyone! Carces here with a magical adventure! Have you ever watched Dr. Strange defeat a magical menace, thinking to yourself "I'll bet I could be a better sorcerer supreme!"? Do you ever spell your name backwards in order to trick all the fey that you owe money to? Have you ever played "I spy with my little eye" with Ios of the Eight Eyes and won? This is an adventure for your character! Magic abounds in Freedom City, and Freedom's finest will need all the wits, courage and power to save the city! But Carces, you might say, while having you GM an adventure has always been my life-long dream, I just don't have a character with a lick of magical skill! Don't be silly, anonymous voice! Your character has plenty to do with magic! Just listen to your heartbeat - it's every beat attuned to the mysterious magic we call life! But the vampire and robot characters don't have a Moving on! Like a coin, there are two sides to this adventure. If you'd like to play, please consider which of these you would prefer to participate in. Inside the Casino: It takes a certain kind of cleverness to break through the barrier as well as a certain kind of foolishness to tread on the established domain of one wielding such powerful magics! The inside of the bubble will have mysteries that need to be solved and the combat will not be as straightforward as your usual fight. There will be more opportunities for role-playing and out-of-combat skills and powers, but there will be less combat in general. Outside the Casino: Outside the Casino, strange things are happening too. Fortunately, they're strange things you can punch in the face! A faster paced adventure with a faster end, this is the place to be if you're looking for challenging combat and chances to show off your heroic bravado in the face of imminent danger. Please Note: While I have GMed before in a few tabletop settings, I am relatively new to this and have never done anything like this on a Play by Post board. This means I'll probably make a mistake or two. If that doesn't sound like something you're interested in, you have been warned! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. Also, please make sure to note your adventurous preference.
6. "An ipod? What a time to lose my job." Creature Feature folded the note back up, putting it inside his wallet that he had left behind before going on patrol. He'd have to put the phone number in his list of contacts later. For now, it was time to get some sleep. As he laid on the bed, every little sensation felt like his body was changing on its own. He would bolt up, realize he was still Vance Malloy, and fall back into bed. Eventually, however, the paranoia became tiring and he drifted off, dreaming about life's adventures as a superhero. Manny Malloy was a man of few words, even as they drove in the Fens past the ruins of the old Video Head video store. He shook his head at the damage, but continued to drive towards his destination. It didn't take long. Finding a suitable place to park, Manny unlocked the door for his passenger and tipped his hat to her. "Have a good night, Carrie." He would stay until he was certain that the woman had gotten to her apartment safely before driving off into the dead of the night.
7. Looks like this railroad... *puts on sunglasses*... needs some work. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah! If you'd just like a stress-free minion bruising, we can use the Demon Warrior from the main book. They're pretty easy to mop up. If you'd like a challenge, we can go with the life-craving "Elder Servants" on page 33 of the Book of Magic. They're PL 10 guys and quite good at team work. I'm open to other suggestions.
8. As Creature Feature was helped to his feet, he gave a Kchoolian thumbs up. "Gee, thanks guys!" The young ancient one stood in a balancing stance to avoid being tripped up by his new limbs. One by one, he tried getting his tentacles under control from outright crashing into things. Man, these tentacles sure like to hit things. Each tentacle felt like it was brushing up against something as they swung wildly in the air. He craned his neck to watch the tentacles and focus on specific ones to calm down. Much to his surprise, only a few a tentacles were hitting the train cars or the ground. Most were simply swinging wildly in the air. "That's odd..." Creature Feature blurted out to no one in particular. As he concentrated on one tentacle in particular that felt like it was brushing up against something solid while wildly flailing in the air, other tentacles reflexively went up to assail the area. "I feel... something up there. But it's, like, something that's not there..." Suddenly, after another gentle prodding, a claw appeared in thin air, ripping and tearing at the very fabric of reality. Creature Feature backed away in surprise. As the hole it tore got bigger, the things head appeared - a humanoid being covered in fanged mouths and dozens of horrible, unblinking eyes. "Oh no..." Close by, another claw was ripping through reality. and another. The dimensional invaders were squeezing through the holes as quickly as they could. "Oh no no no no no..."
9. Manny nodded to his guest. "I'll go get a jacket." He turned to Vance. "You need to get to sleep. Whether something happened to the video store or not, it's a school night. It's late and you're gonna get sick if you stay up too long." "Aw, dad." Vance protested as he got embarrassed in front of a guest. He nodded to his father as he waved to Silhouette. "Good night, Carrie. Good night, dad." Without a second thought, he hurried to the basement, looking around the window and area for an important, secret note. Vance's father, Manny Malloy was in his police outfit within a minute, sporting his trusty flashlight. He was clearly not afraid to be seen in a rough part of town with his uniform on. "Are you ready to go, Miss?"
10. "That's perfect!" Creature Feature jumped up in excitement before concentrating on the portrayal of Kchooloo, his mind whirling with facts about the beast from the movie. Sure enough, the build up of energy came to him and the intense sense of vertigo overwhelmed his senses. The change happened fast, nearly knocking over the nearby train as where a creature no larger than a cat once crawled, the Kchoolian horror grew as large as a house. From its dark green, scaly form burst a number of tentacles from where the mouth and a number at the side and back of the creature, grappling onto trains for support or flailing wildly and erratically in the air. Two large wings sprung into existence, growing in size to match the monster's large countenance. There was no doubt about it. It was the Kchooloo from the movies kneeling on the floor and trying to pull itself up to its feet. Gone was the shrill alien voice of the old Facegrabber. Kchooloo spoke with the deep Baritones that would rumble the sea - a tone as ancient as time itself. "This is so sweet. How do I get up with all these tentacle things?" While certainly not the words that would shatter the minds of millions, Creature Feature's enthusiasm meshed well with the bizarre tentacle-grin the Kchooloo form was sporting as he stood on his feet. The large wings stretched out, as if they had a mind of its own, distracting the clumsy Creature. "Whoa. Those aren't tenta... whoaOAh" Thrown off balance by the additional limbs, Creature Feature backed into another train car, lifting the wheels off the tracks before they came crashing down again.
11. For a current thread, I am using a new form for shapeshifting. Please add this new sample form "Kchooloo" after the Hydra for Creature Feature. Thanks! Kchooloo Done in the style of "Voicemail of Kchooloo", this form is essentially a Hollywood rip off of descriptions of the Unspeakable Eldritch Horrors rumored to exist between dimensions. The form carries a natural level of darkness about it, mirroring the darkness of the movie, which didn't have enough of a budget to create a convincing monster effect. The movie bombed and was particularly criticized for its "It was all a dream inside an Asylum and the hero is secretly insane... OR IS IT?!" ending. 13. Manny Malloy nodded with concern. "Thank you for checking up on things then, Carrie." He looked over at Vance who nodded his head and tried to smile, carrying a grin as goofy and awkward as the one the werewolf had plastered on his face. The concern Vance had in his heart was easy enough to see, though. His father turned to Vance and put a hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Vance. We'll make sure there's a missing person's report filled in and I'll personally look into the matter in tomorrow morning. We'll find Ms. Lights." He patted his shoulder twice before turning back to Carrie. "Are you going to be alright going home, Carrie? I don't see your car outside..."
14. "Whoa..." Creature Feature watched in awe at the spectacular sight of the mystical and uncanny displays. This is just like something out of a movie! "Gee, I wish I could show you my super power too." Suddenly, Creature Feature couldn't help but feel inadequate comparatively. He had chose a small, simple form to avoid detection which didn't have a lot of flashy ways of saving the day. When push came to shove, he wasn't all that impressive a figure - not like the dazzling display that... The little Facegrabber perked up as an idea struck him. "Hey! Maybe I can! Can you guys make moving pictures in the air? Like Kchooloo or something?"
15. Manny Malloy, as a police officer in Freedom City, was naturally suspicious of a woman knocking at the door in the dead of night. Clearly not afraid of whatever might lurk in the outdoors, he opened the door wide. "And who might you be?" With the time given, Vance ducked under his father's arm with the VCR device in his hand. Unplugged, the device looked almost completely like a VCR and had room for a video tape, but also a circular hole in the front, large enough only for a hand to slip in. Whatever purpose it served was a mystery. "Here's the VCR you needed, Ms. Sil!" His father was visibly surprised to see Vance as he handed Silhouette the device along with its cords. Manny Malloy furrowed his brow as he stood in the door, looking down at Vance with a look of disbelief. "She was a customer at the store, dad. There was some wort of accident there, and I was holding on to the device for safe keepin'." Vance smiled at his father. The world of technical truths was his friend. "An accident?" Mr. Malloy's expression of suspicion turned to concern. "I hope everything's okay..." Vance nodded at Silhouette.
16. Creature Feature offered up a front leg to shake Nick Cimitiere's hand with. While the Facegrabber's whole body was made as an instrument for grabbing, this approach was far more gentle and polite. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Cimitiere! You don't need to worry 'bout me, though. I'm not goin' down the whole undead roa...uh... who is 'Dead Head'?" It struck Vance that, in the short time he had been out and finding out about super heroes, naming conventions in Freedom City were *weird*. He had originally thought that "Creature Feature" was an oddball name that he'd have to change at some point. However, maybe it would fit in all too well... "I'm... a bit new... to the... the whole... uh..." Creature Feature coughed nervously. "Uh, y-you're not a ghoul yourself, are you? Not there's anything wrong with that! Nosirree!"
17. "Aheh... well, funny story about that..." Vance started as he walked to the house after the bus ride home. "Oh, but I left the basement window open. It leads right to the device." The neighborhood was much more quiet at this time of night then when Vance had decided to leave. He peered around to see if anyone was watching and opened the gate leading to his backyard. He signaled Silhouette to follow as he carefully slid his thin frame through the window, landing on an old couch set beside the wall. The basement room was fairly neat, save for a few old movie posters that adorned the wall and the tangle of entertainment equipment that made for Vance's "Tower of Transformation". The centerpiece of the room, two televisions connected to VCRs, still stood soundly against the test of time for the hours that Vance had been away. One of the televisions flickered with static as the tape of "Revenge of Wolfguy" had already been automatically finished and rewound. The second was still playing Vance's vacation movie. As Vance got out of the couch to allow Silhouette room to come in, he concentrated on his form, turning back to his familiar 16-year old self in a bathing suit. "I gotta get a movie of me wearing better clothes" Vance mumbled to no one in particular as he went over to the VCR device, looking to unplug it.
18. "Tell them about the attack, and stuff?" Vance nodded. He pointed at the map to the center of Grenville, where his house was. "I live there. It's a couple of buses away, but it's not too far. We could do it tonight." Vance breathed a sigh of relief at the thought of going home and getting rid of that VCR. The last thing he'd want to happen is for the laser ninjas to attack his house and parents.
19. "Uh, Kchooloo?" Vance was confused. The live-action Kchooloo movie was alright, but the guy in front of him could do a way better eldritch horror in his sleep. "W-well, yeah, I suppose. I can turn into stuff I see in videos. I kinda need the video to do it, though." Vance was fairly new to this part of Western Freedom City, but he somehow doubted there would be a theater playing old Kchooloo flicks somewhere close to an old, abandoned railway terminal. "I'm Va... Creature Feature, by the way. Who are you two? Do you live near here?"
20. Vance concentrated on the young boy portrayed in the video. A sinking feeling overtook him, as he toppled himself further into the love seat's cushion after changing from such a large form. Sure enough, the fur of the werewolf was exchanged by the bright, vibrant colored clothing of the young boy. Vance's color was a little off, being slightly brighter than the usual color of a person. It was an effect of the Technicolor technology of older films before color technology in films became more realistic. However, it wasn't strong enough to be noticeable, save on close examination. Creature Feature was particularly happy when he noticed the chemical residue that was stuck to his fur was no longer visible. The incredibly sticky substance would have made for a rather nightmarish night of cleaning. "Thanks!" Vance exclaimed with the movie boy's voice. Although it wasn't quite his own voice, it was nice to hear a word come out of his throat that was low and gnarled.
21. Creature Feature entered the apartment, bumping his large head as he did so. He grimaced, rubbing his head as he carefully entered, doing his best to not trip or knock over anything, nor yank down any of the fabrics with his head. Eventually, he made his way over to the love seat, which was not as likely to break under his weight, where he sat down, huddling himself by grabbing his legs with his arms, looking about the apartment in curiosity until Silhouette returned without her costume. Creature's eyes shot open in recognition as his mind clicked and made the connection. "You... you were a customer!" He remembered her clearly, now, feeling a little dumb for not placing the voice sooner. Video Head didn't get a lot of repeat business and regulars were rare things indeed. Vance looked down, trying to collect all of the experience he's gained for his explanation. "Well... I can turn into people that I see in a video. It doesn't have to be from that strange VCR, either. I just see the video and concentrate on being in that video. And it just happens. But the real magic is when I try to become a creature from, like, a monster movie or something. I just think about the creature I'm watching... and then this weird, hot sensation occurs and I don't know what direction is up or down or anything. The next thing I know, I'm the creature, right? It's weird." As he spoke, he looked down at his arm. "It's like bein' right of the movie too. See, this form is from 'Revenge of the Wolfguy', the black 'n white classic. But Wolfguy is supposed to be brown when he's done in color. But the wolf is all black anyway, see?" He shook his head. That point was probably too trivial, and he was wasting Silhouette's time. "A-anyway... When I'm done, I got a vacation video of myself at the beach from just a couple of weeks ago. If I concentrate on it, I'm back to bein' plain ol' Vance in a swim suit. I think that's everything I know so far."
22. "Oof!" Creature Feature rolled with the help of a boot, getting back on its feet. The tiny creature cleared its throat, as the new people seemed more curious than interested in stepping on him. "Th-The Facegrabber thing is... ah... well, temporary. You see..." Creature Feature hushed his voice a little, which had little effect considering the high, echoed pitch. "I'm a super hero... sort of. So I was... uh... patrolling." Creature Feature, tapped his front legs on the ground nervously. He wasn't terribly sure of what to make of his current company. "Uh, is that cool? 'Cause if it's not cool, I can totally leave and get outta your hair... er... or lackthereof. Aheheh..." Real smooth, Vance...
23. As a werewolf, Vance noticed a few things that had changed about his senses. His darkvision had come in handy in the secret lair, as well as coming through the fens in the night. His hearing took some getting used to, as low hums and very high frequencies were suddenly heard clearly, albeit distractingly. The one thing that hadn't bothered him quite as much was the increase in his ability to smell. Until now. This part of the Fens had a wretched smell of decay and pollution of various kinds. Each person, building, and alleyway had its own unique scent, which screamed at Creature Feature's nose. He turned around, watching people look up at him, but ultimately ignore the duo. It was all Vance could do not to throw up from the overwhelming amount of disgusting information his nose was picking up. Concentrate... To get him through the Fens, Creature Feature concentrated on Silhouette's scent - an intangible trail that seemed like an invisible string he could follow, wrapping its way through the buildings until it came to a fire escape. Creature Feature climbed the stairs after the heroine.
24. Creature Feature turned towards the voice of the viewer, feeling a little embarrassed that his antics had been witnessed. "Oh, sorry, I don't... FWAHGH!" In shock at the appearance of the tentacle-faced visitor, Creature Feature let go of the side of the car, landing on his back. He got a good look at the monstrous, sickly-green figure... in spandex? It's like that movie, Kchooloo versus the Littlest Unicorn, where Kchooloo is rampaging against the city and the Littlest Unicorn figures out all he really wants is ballet lessons. Somehow, I don't think this guy is lookin' for Ballet lessons... With all of his might, Vance forced the Facegrabber's legs to spasm and twitch in an attempt to get himself off his back and to the safety of the train shadows to no avail. The spindly, pointed legs were not easy to manipulate. Out of the darkness, a regular, normal person came out, talking to the horror. A somewhat scary looking guy that he probably wouldn't want to meet alone in a back alley, but a person nonetheless! And he was talking with the green squid guy in a reasonable manner! Perhaps now was the perfect time for the good old fashioned art of diplomacy. "Aheheh... Please don't eat me." Creature Feature pleaded.
