  1. But.... But.... Moon bloodgood! Bloodgood!
  2. Pompadour does outpace her, much to Mercy's consternation. Just as she was about to 'accidently' clip his hair so she could dramatically rescue him, he landed on a roof. Careening onto the nearby roof, the heroine decides to simply run back, leaping the gap between buildings easily. "Ha! You just want to get me drunk, admit it" Mercy teases, "Still, it is kinda suspicious. Let's go check it out" Her agreement had nothing to do with the fact that they were all in a liquor store, nono. Stepping off the edge of the building, Mercy lands easily and walks confidently into the liquor store. "Hey guys and or gals! Silly me, I thought the flasher's convention was next week. Does someone have a camera I could borrow?" Perhaps not the most dignified or obvious way to check on suspicious activity...
  3. Initiative! 22 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2105842/ Cool beans. I attempted to quip, was it funny?
  4. 1) Quiver, PL10 Vibrating Villainess 2) Quiver going on a crime spree and kidnapping a renown plastic surgeon/doctor to fix her girlfriends face/voice(and probably some high tech equipment/nurses to help out). 3) Sandman volunteered Wesley. 4) Just a solo thread.
  5. "Alright, but every machine I touch tends to break..." Mercy offers dubiously as she climbs into the empty spot. "This'll be easy. All I have to do is stand here" the heroine told herself, placing her hands above her head, palms on the plate. "Not so bad." she muttered as the machine rumbled to life. At first nothing happened. Mercy stood as still as a statue and about as readable, face hidden behind her costume. A short while later a small wind seemed to kick up, emanating from the young woman in the machine, hair and cape kicking up and whirling about as her body used whatever it used to fly to supplement her strength, gusts of air filling the room like a storm. Locking her knees she tried to stop her arms and legs from quivering as she held her own against the metal monstrosity. But it was all for naught as slowly, with much grunting and an absurd amount of swearing, she was forced to one knee, letting out an angry "Alright! Alright! Shut the damned thing off!" with a whispered, "Before it crushes me."
  6. Ok cool! if it's alright I'd like to use my hero point to get a super-strength AP(giving me a +10 modifier to my roll) Mercy Vs Machine! 1:26 vs 7:Mercy Wins! 2:18 vs 18: Tie? 7. "Fiiiiine" Mercy complains, she didn't need him to buy her booze anyway. That's what fake I.D.s were for! But this was supposed to be her day off! She'd just gotten out of the hospital! "Whatever, let's see if your creepy tentacle hair can keep up with me" she taunts before launching off the roof with a boom that made the building shake.
  8. Mercy sighs in resignation. "There's no main reason I do it. I could tell you I just like to fight, or my former mentor sorta forced me into it, or I like helping people. They'd all be right and there's more to it but.. really it's a bunch of little things." the heroine finally responds.
  9. Mercy felt a momentary kinship with Pompadour, thinking about her own parents who'd abandoned her. She'd been much younger at the time and they'd been sure she wouldn't wouldn't remember them(funnily enough they were mostly right. She couldn't recall much about them but she remembered hearing them say that quite clearly). "Awkward" the heroine thinks to herself, "Well, I think we've done enough for today, why not buy me something to drink as payment?" she asks, hoping he doesn't ask her how old she is.
  10. "The cape stays and I'm fine." Mercy protested annoyedly waving away the medic, ignoring the weird popping sounds her throbbing shoulder was making. "That is a big machine, what's it suppose to do? The mask? It keeps my identity secret from the badguys. Really, I thought you were suppose to teach this kind of thing here?" she jokes to Alan, offering him a doughnut from the refreshment table.
  11. "Well, honestly I'm not that great of a flyer, it's harder than it looks to... crap" Mercy dove after Pompadour, quickly shooting past him as his hair fanned out, then landing beside him with a loud 'thump' on the theatre. "Well it looks like your hair knows what to do even if you don't." the heroine muttered, dusting stuff off of her costume. The white parts usually ended up grey with just enough of the original color showing to let you know that the coloring was dirty and not on purpose. Giving up with a sigh she returns her attention to her protogé, "Well young ward, have you given any thought to a costume?"
  12. Mercy laughed long and hard at Pompadour's words. "Worried? About what you and your hair might do to me?" she asks with a snort, "I think we're good on that. And randomly picking a place to patrol is one way to do it I suppose, though looking up crime figures and mapping out hotspots might work a little better." "Go ahead and jump, I'll catch you" Mercy promises, stepping off the side of the building and floating there(albeit a little shakily).
  13. Could Mercy have a rank of super strength please? Done by Sandman XI
  14. Mercy shrugged and after fiddling with her mask, started wolfing down the greasy monstrosity that was supposed to be a meal. She spends a minute chewing after Pompadour finished spilling his heart out to her, not because she had to really, but to give her a minute to formulate a reply. She hadn't known he was a reformed villain. Something that two minutes on the internet probably would have remedied. Nor did she know anyone to call. Well, maybe she did technically, but the last time the young heroine had called 'them' they'd shipped her to here instead of helping find Justice. "Justice would know what to do if she were here" the bitter, guilty thought leaps flits through Mercy's mind unbidden and unwelcome, quickly followed by others "How long has she been missing? And what have I done to find her? Zilch." "Sorry, dunno know what to tell ya" Mercy finally replied, tossing the burger over her shoulder, having found that she'd lost her appetite. "Hire a shrink, keep a diary, try to keep an eye on yourself." Then, after an awkward moment of silence she adds teasingly, "If you're that afraid of falling why not start out somewhere lower instead of asking a girl to catch you?" And from somewhere behind and below, just barely audible there's a soggy 'thump' and an angry "My car!"
  15. Because I don't think I mentioned it in march... Mercy's Placement Test: March 05 viewtopic.php?f=33&t=1674
  16. "Flying, it would be flying" Mercy muttered grumpily as she rubbed her hands against her thighs, not that it would help with her sweaty palms much through the gloves. The young heroine floated up to the first of the series of hoops positioned around the room. Everything will be fiiiiine she lied to herself. And at first it was as she snaked through hoop after hoop, looping and managing to avoid touching the rings(mostly). Then disaster struck and her cape got caught up in one of the hoops. Letting out a small choking sound as her cape pulled taut, Mercy hung, suspended and still in the air for one, brief moment. Then with a tearing sound her cape came off and she was bouncing around the room uncontrollably like a pinball, denting walls and getting tangled up in all the hoops. Finally with a loud bang, she hit the floor, rolling and flipping head over heels before stopping in an udignified heap. "I'm ok!" she called, voiced muffled under the mountain 'o' hoops. Though the young heroine made no attempt to get up.
  17. Oh ack, I didn't see your post until just now! Considering that mercy has a complication where she has trouble controlling her powers(especially flight) and unlucky, would it be ok if I just rolled a d20 without the power modifier? Average:17Pass! Tough:18 Pass! Challenging:7 Fail! Formidable:6 Fail! http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2095993/
  18. "I dun wanna hear about you playing with your instrument" Mercy replies teasingly, "Look, I'm sorry to get all serious on you but it's the same speech I got when I started out." Right after getting threatened with super-jail the young heroine thought to herself sourly, "And I'd be happy to help you figure out your powers either way, just so you won't accidentally hurt someone with your awesome hair." Digging into a paper sack she pulled out and offered Pompadour a burger, though now it's cold and probably not looking too appetizing. "And if you promise to be careful we could back each other up for a while and see if this is something you want to do. Though there's a real chance someone's going to mess up your pretty face and then where will you be?"
  19. "Swinging by... your hair." Mercy repeats, sounding a bit skeptical. She hadn't exactly been paying attention to her surroundings earlier. "That's gotta be terrible for your scalp." Shaking her head she walks over to Pompadour, poking him hard in the chest. "We can take care of that later, but first you need to get your priorities straight. You're either a hero first and foremost, or you aren't one at all" the younger heroine tells him seriously, "There's no need to 'keep us even'. If I can help you I will. If I can help you help people that's even better. PR, advertising, crap like that? It's ok. A little skeevey but ok. Everyone has to eat, but it's something you get as a benefit of doing good things, you don't do good things for them." Mercy pauses a moment, feeling both a little embarrassed and a little hypocritical to be saying this next part "If I'm going to help you with anything I need to know that saving people is more important than money, reputation, or anything else. If not I'll consider you a danger to yourself and more importantly everyone around you and I'll do my best to take you down like any other thug I see on the streets."
  20. "Stain resistant my ass" Mercy muttered in annoyance as she wiped off the ketchup... only to find a pink dot where it had been. Putting her burger away she listens to Pompadour. Immediately the young heroine lets off a round of clapping, a smirk on her lips that disappears from view as she fixes her mask. "I can handle the press, no worries. Earlier was an.. isolated incident. But if you need help I'd be more than happy to give you advice or tag along on your patrols"
  21. "Palpating? That sounds kind of dirty" Mercy laughs, relaxing a bit as she talked glad she wasn't interrupting anything. "8:30 is fine" Hanging up with Pompadour she briefly wondered how he'd get to the roof but shrugged it off. If he didn't have a costume he could probably just take the elevator. "I have time" she mutters spotting a burger joint and walking in. While it didn't garner quite the reaction she'd get in L.A.(where costumed crimefighters were a bit rarer, most people did stop talking and stare for at least a second as she ordered her food to go(after assuring the cashier she wasn't here to rob the place). And so 8:30 rolled around with the young heroine's mask halfway pulled up, chowing down a burger with a large glob of ketchup on the white part of her costume.
  22. All in all it was a quick trip, since the new villainess hadn't really thought about the fact that the building had a basement. Oh it made sense that it had one all right. It simply hadn't occured to her on the bus ride over. So it was with some surprise that Quiver burst through the wall, tripping over rubble that she created and slamming face-first into a crate filled with spare electrical equipment. A good ten minutes went by as she cursed loudly and tilted her head back, trying to get her nose to stop bleeding and praying it wasn't broken. Great, my first caper hasn't even started and I'm already leaving a trail of D.N.A. she thinks sourly to herself, doing her best to clean up any blood with her powers, the vibrations quickly destroying anything that the police might use to track her down(she hoped). Her luck was in though! The basement wasn't very big, in fact if she were any taller she'd probably have to hunch. Using the thumping of the speakers to guide her, she positioned herself under the stage(or at least, where she was reasonably sure the stage was). "Showtime" the blonde villainess muttered to herself right before blasting a few holes in the ceiling around her, the debris falling down on top of her only to be turned into dust by the vibrations her body were giving off.
  23. Mercy spent the rest of the day patrolling(I.E.: Flying around aimlessly). There was very little actual heroing to do in this town. Every time she spotted something someone would beat her to the punch(literally!) and don't try to help them, oh no. If they saw another cape they either assumed you were a villain or complained about you being a glory hog! Boy did she miss L.A. All in all it wasn't a particularly interesting day, she shied away from going back to her dorm room, afraid one of the faculty would yell at her about her 'outburst'(they always called it that, no matter how much the guy deserved it) and wondering whether it was too early to call Pompadour. I'll just call and see if he's been released yet. Nothing clingy about that... she tells herself, using the phone built into her mask.
  24. "Oh. Okay. Yea." Mercy mutters in an embarrassed tone, crestfallen at being told no. Now I know what it feels like to be turned down for a date she thinks to herself sourly, taking off without another word. With a loud 'whumph' a blast of air emanates out from where she'd been standing, easily able to knock a normal person down as she rockets away.
