  1. Yuki is still rather young and new at this hero game. What better opportunity then this for her to embaras... urhm... :? ...test herself? Yeah... Sign her up. ^^
  2. I'm game. What you have in mind?
  3. Yuki paused, her fingers point straight at the man's mouth... yet her hesitation, no, ALL her nerves themselves started to way on her. what if he was right... there were too many people here. She said nothing, yet she didn't let the man out of her sight... all she had to do was somehow... distract him... "Seriousy? Dude, you've seen how fast I am. You think you're fast enough?" She wasn't trying to trick... just get him to talk. He loves talking...
  4. Players Name: Josh Power Level: 10 (150 pp) Trade-Offs: Unspent PP: Characters Name: Scarlet Jester Alternate Identity: Sasha Kubric Height: 5'4" Weight: 125 lbs Hair: Black Eyes: Brown Description: Scarlet Jester wears a red and white checkerboard suit reminiscent of a medieval jester’s costume mixed with modern goth flare. Her scarlet hair is tied back away from her face, which is powdered white with bright red lips, eye makeup, with red diamonds painted on her cheeks. History: Sasha grew up in a wandering circus of some repute, her father a clown and her mother a high-wire artist and tumbler, allowing her to learn the ways of both careers. As a young teen, she signed on to the act as a talented trapeze artist who quickly became renowned for her comedic shows. Her bright star came crashing to earth soon afterward when her parents were killed when a super-hero native to the city their circus was playing at crashed through the tent while engaged in combat with a super villain. The incident left her nearly dead, falling into a deep coma after hitting her head. Sasha's body was later snatched from the hospital. Apparently, unknown to her, her body carried para human potential. The group that stole her body, began experimenting on her dna. Her mind getting filled with technical knowledge, her body getting strenthend to beyound human compacity, and her pysche getting strengthened to the point of total fearlessness. Unfortunately her head injury, combined with a botched mind control attempted, shattered Sasha's sanity. becoming to mentally unstable to be effective, the scientists implemented a mind switch on her (suicide) on her and dumped onto the side of the road. But they never counted on her insanity growing to such a degree, that she actually over rode the suicidal desire, bending it to her own will. She still wants to die, but she is going to take every single 'super hero' down with her. This hatred stems to a deep sub-councious scar, where she blames the heroes for the death of her parents. Crushed by the tragedy, Sasha returned to the city of the tragedy and began sending dark, threatening jokes to him via the local police. This anger continued to build within her until finally she snapped and ambushed the hero, killing him in a spectacular explosion detonated from within a giant Jack-in-the- Box she had created (thanks to her artificial training) and left along his patrol route to find. What little was left of Sasha’s morality and sanity died with that hero, leaving only Scarlet Jester. Her actions made quite a national stir, bringing her into the attention of the Shadow Academy, where her artificial knowledge and skills were cultivated. Directing her Insanity in the form of a weapon, the Academy hopes to have what they consider a 'blue chip'. Personality & Motivation: Scarlet Jester is not very interested in the traditional petty or grand crimes such as meager theft or global conquest. To her, “grand†is defined by the degree of showmanship and suffering her activities cause society. She considers herself an expert in the art of violence and comedic insanity, and the world is a stage just waiting for her to show her ultimate opus. Totally insane, Scarlet Jester slides between moments of manic ranting, surprisingly sedate expositions, and sudden, angry outbursts usually marked with equally explosive violence. No matter how dangerous a situation is for herself or others (usually because of her), Scarlet Jester always has time for a quip and well-timed practical joke. She is especially fond of deadly slapstick. Complications: Insanity: Obvious, yet it can't be said enough. See, there's 'Insane', and then there's Scarlet Jester. The woman is off the map, to the point that often she can't even rationally explain why she does what she does. The only pattern her actions fall under, is that they come in a form of a joke and/or prank. She has no morality, no fear (which in her case is NOT a good thing, as she takes risks that put others in danger), no respect towards human life, and absolutely no respect for authority. The only reason she even tolerates the Shadow academy is because they are providing her a roof over her head ("the inmates are trying to inprison the Asylem. HA!").   5. I notice no one has noticed this... but I edited the build for new looks. >>;
  6. Tarantula Yuki's smile faded when she felt the buzz at the back of her skull. Then, in a flash of metal, she ducked a sword swipe. Using her senses as her guide, she flipped backwards as another sword _narrowly_ missed her back. She managed to land into a handspring while simualtaneously spinning away from a thrust, before cart-wheeling to her feet where she stopped an over head swing from splitting her in two halves by clapping her hands to it's sides. She then spun of the attacker as he foolishly tried to push his weight forward. The final attack was hopelessly to slow. She was already on the ceiling even before he finished his swing. She was just too fast for him. "Yo chuckles, your men need to practice their backhand swing. It's atrocious. At this rate, they'll only qualify for Wimbledon in their dreams!" Not giving the man a chance to rip out of her webbing, sh forsaked the men attacking her and gave the poor man another dose of her webbing, this time aiming for his sword arm. "Now you stay put. I hear the police are just determined to give you a great pair of metal bracelets to match you lovely armor."
  7. Lucky bastard is shrugging of my attacks like I'm hitting a sand bag... but there's one thing guranteed to work. Yuki rolled away from the sword swing, staying low so the gas continued to cover her. She then waited, before firing webbing at the man's feet. If he's forced to stay in the Tear Gas... Yeah, it could work!
  8. Okay, next installment is up. I was planning on posting on an issue basis, but now I'm doing it by scenes. So we're at Issue two and we're looking at four more scenes up coming (maybe less, I'm looking to streamline so that things aren't just a wall of text). One explanation: Mike is the same Mike from issue one. There was confusion from one of my proof readers and I thought I should attack the potential question here. As usual, feel free to drop comments, suggestions and criticisms here.
  9. Issue 2 Dark Origins (part 2) “That loose cannon, must be removed.†Mike Weathers nodded at the man sitting behind him in the Starbucks. To a passerby, they were seated in such a way, that they couldn’t be talking to each other. But they were. On their cells, with their voice low enough so that other tables couldn’t hear. “She’s that much of a menace?†“That girl has interrupted various street deals and underground activity. Not just meta, but other avenues. Cocaine, Extasy, money laundering, the other night she even prevented a shipment of clean registered guns from being sold to the black market over in Wading Way. This ‘Spider-Girl’ is interrupting his business. And when ‘his’ business is interrupted, heads roll.†“Well, she’s a wanted woman now…†“That’s a start… but only a start.†“I don’t follow…†“Her death would’ve been worth the red tape that needs to be laid down. Now a body, freshly doped up with the newest batch of Meta, is going though Freedom City’s coroner office. That means bribing doctors, changing autopsies, providing false dental records, I even had to hire outside contractors to wipe out the hardcopies of her bank account, each a possible avenue that can pierce ‘his’ secret. Yet, she’s still alive, meaning that she has the potential to do this all over again.†“…I’ll see too it that the nail gets hammered down.†“See that you do. I’m sending the contact number of the independent contractors. They're Meta users, thus they are looking forward to meet you for their... fix. See to it that their activities are properly covered. They maybe juveniles, but they provide decent service... as long as they are properly looked after.†Mike hung up the phone and waited as he watched the contact walk away. Who would've guessed that one body would cause so much trouble.
  10. :-p I'll take a hero point and call it square (for a waste of a VERY good roll and tactics). So yeah, the post stands. It's what I actually imagine Yuki to do in such a situation. Action first, plan later.
  11. Her agility countered by the man's strength, his sword rising up to do something nasty to her... ...ugh, that was nasty... Things were looking bleak indeed... and when she thought things wouldn't get any worse: Danger Sense. Wonderful. More danger. why not, I already failed conclusively. Then she heard the voice of warning. Cover her nose and mouth? Tear gas? Yuki was thrown, but her first order of business was obvious. She pressed her lips together and pinched her nose. The advance warning, along with her senses, she managed to stave off the gas for now. She landed and rolled into the growing cloud of gas while holding her breath, using it to cover her movements. She brushed of the guiding hand as took this opening for all it was worth. She stayed low to the ground charged forward and attempted to slam her fist right into his face. "Liberate THIS!" Sure this may be as ineffective as before, but it's obvious that he too had to deal with the gas. With that equalizer, she may just pull this off...
  12. Issue 1 Dark Origins (Part 1) The air was heavy with silence at this height. The speckled night sky, its beauty denied by the lights of Freedom City, managed to cast just enough darkness so that a lone figure was able to hide from prying eyes of anyone who may have been on the rooftops at this time of early morning. She was not hiding, per say. She was merely resting, relaxing from a busy night, her grey eyes separated from the world behind her dull skinned eyelids that were starting to get annoyingly heavy. She stood up from her crouch, adjusting the full faced mask on her face. Her eyes have long since adjusted to the nighttime surroundings, her nose ignoring the smokey residue from the pipe beside her. The echo of the occasional car horn hung in the air, reminding her that life still continued, even after dark. Of course, considering what she does at this time of night, she needed no reminding of that fact. She spotted the pigeon as it began to flutter its wings, noticing how the pigeon seemingly swooped down from the sky; it’s landing graceful and fearless. It inspired her. She started with a light jog forward, slowly lengthening her strides till she was in a full run. And when she reached the edge of the building roof, she merely fell forward, Gravity grabbing her body as she plummeted head first down the side of the building, the wind whistling past her ears as the flag pole drew closer and closer. Her leather gloves protected what would have been a serious case of rub-burn, as she grabbed the pole and swung on it, gathering momentum. Faster and faster she spun, releasing her grip on the pole at the last second. Her body soared, trespassing a height that a person had no business flying through without any sort of climbing equipment. When she felt the apex of the leap approaching, she pulled a backflip, watching her intended landing spot spin in and out of her vision. It was a perfect landing, her boots crunching into the gravelly rooftop. And the judges give a perfect 10! She froze up when she felt the feeling. Many a times she tried to define it, the vibration that she felt at the base of her skull. When she foolishly was about to stick her hand in a malfunctioning garbage disposal when she was 13 to get her Mickey Mouse watch. The buzz caused to hesitate for a split second… and her fingers were saved by inches as the fuse shorted and the disposal kicked in full gear. The watch was destroyed, of course. A danger-sense that warns you of danger was seemingly a good thing. But there was a slight problem: It was a ‘danger’ sense. Danger was never really something you wanted much of. The buzzing was steady and constant, like a tug. Nothing north… nothing west… South. Oh great… it was coming from Southside. No other spot in Freedom City could you find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. Time to be a hero… *** Leonard didn’t expect the kid to be this heavy. Nor did he expect being picked to even carry her in the first place. Such was life. “Mike, how much further?†“Just a little more, quit being a baby.†“It’s just that… well, you know…†“No, I don’t know.†“We killed a minor. I hear that’s as bad as raping one… that’s serious time, man. We could lose our jobs.†Leonard saw Mike look back at him with cold eyes. “She took the meta of her own free will. She was a junkie, willing to risk a stronger dose for a free fix. She died of her own stupidity.†“But we gave it to her.†“Hey, if you want to take the route of Mother Teresa, just leave your money on your way out the door…†Money. The ultimate equalizer. Almost immediately, all his debts came back to his mind. “…†“Exactly. Now shut-up and help me hoist this into the dumpster.†“I’m sorry, but the bin for re-cycling bodies is full this evening.†*** Yuki felt bad, seeing the dead body being carried like a piece of meat between the two men. She also heard enough to know that they were as innocent as a condom on prom night. Hanging upside down on a webline, she looked down on the two people who she had to assume did the deed. The one called Mike dropped the body rather abruptly. "Walk away." "Do I look like I walked?" In the seconds that followed, she felt drops of wetness hit her body. A drizzle. She’s about to be caught in the rain. "Awww nuts, it's raining." Mike looked up at her with agitation. "Look, snowflake, we don't have time to play." "Really? But you have plenty of time to kill people?" "Oh absolutely. We can continue with you, if you like?" "Now see, you butchered that sentence." "What?" "Here's the correct way..." She crossed her arms, allowing her legs to hold on to the webline. "...you can _try_ and continue with me. You can't just assume that you'll do it. You leave yourself open to have your foot in your mouth if you fail. Just saving you some embarrassment." "…you're not going to leave, are you?" "Only if you turn yourself in for killing that girl." The man sighed. "Come on Leonard, our job isn't done." “Well, mines have just begun.†Yuki let go of her webline as the men produced weapons. Forty-fives from the looks of it, but they didn’t look like the civilian issue. She webbed up the first man before he could blink, sticking his feet to the ground with one hand and used the other to web his gun arm to his stomach. His wiggling caused Yuki to giggle to herself, her danger-sense snapping her attention back to the here and now. She executed a backflip just as Mike fired his gun, landing on top of the dumpster they were going to use. Trusting the buzzes in her skull for timing, she ducked, dodged, leaped and weaved through more shots. If he kept this shooting up, someone would get hurt. “Okay, if you can’t use that thing, something gotta be done about it!†She concentrated and shot a thick glob of psychic webbing at his gun. Her aim was perfect, and she smiled as the webbing splashed around the gun and hardened. It almost stuck the gun to Mike’s hand if he didn’t drop it. “You freak!†“What!? I wasn’t the one who killed someone!†“She killed herself.†“Right… and that’s why you tried to hide the body.†The thug rushed her, yet Yuki didn’t attempt to dodge. She saw him throw a right straight and she swayed hard to her left, just outside the punch. “I don’t have to answer to you. This isn’t your concern.†“You made it my concern.†She was in the middle of sending her right counter-punch towards Mike’s wide open jaw when her skull shook her head. She ducked the bullet that would’ve killed her. Of course that also caused her punch to be thrown wide of its target. It was a critical mistake, as her head met the thug’s knee, knocking her backwards. That was another problem with her danger sense. It couldn’t detect more then one danger. “Blast it, Leo! Watch who you shoot!†“Is that how you thank me for saving you!?†“I’m winning!†“Only after I… look out!†Yuki was on one knee but rose as the two idiots argued, twisting her body to avoid another swing from the man. She recovered from the cobwebs. No pun intended. As she saw the left haymaker whiz past her face she countered with one of her own, slamming her fist into his ear. She wasn’t done as she leaped up, twisting her body with the momentum of her punch. Her legs wrapped themselves around his neck and she rolled backwards, tossing him onto his partner. They both crashed into the garbage behind them. Neither moved. “Good riddance to bad rubbish. Just be grateful that I don’t kill.†She looked over at the body. “…damn grateful.†***20 minutes later*** “Hey… Hey Bobby, look at this!†Mike’s eyes opened, and his head was pounding. His right ear was ringing and he felt a trickle from it. “Woah! Get them out of that! I’ve got questions for them. This one is bleeding from one of his ears.†Mike’s eyes closed for a few seconds and re-opened and saw two uniformed cops approaching him. One had a utility knife. Another was cutting Leonard out of the same web prison he was in. Now it was coming into remembrance… the junkie… the test… the heart attack… Spider-Girl… “That girl…†“Yeah, we found the body. We want to question you two on that.†Mike looked over at Leo, who’s eyes grew to the size of softballs. “Uh…†“Shut up Leo.†Mike got up as the webbing was cut. “Officer, the teenager was killed by a girl. Red and blue costume… Spider-motif.†“What! You have evidence?†“Besides the webbing everywhere?†Mike took out his FBI badge. “Fine. Does this answer your question?â€Â
  13. Okay, while this thread is in continuity, it also an orginal work by me. Hence some characters and villians are original and created by me. Others are hand picked from some of the supplements I bought over the past year and a half. What I'm saying is that some of the things in this thread will carry over, while others won't. Think of it like a solo comic series. Any questions comments and concerns can be posted here.
  14. ((I'm assuming this is Yuki's next turn, if not, then the roll goes active the next turn)) All she intended to do today was deliver a simple package and then go home to a microwavable burrito and homework... Okay, that was a pathetic evening, but infinitely better then 'this'. She was losing, the man's head turning at just the right angle to dodge her webbing. She watched as the greenish glob, one of her last chances, splatter uselessly on the ground. That's what she get for trying the same tactic twice. "There is nothing... hollow... about saving lives..." Yuki wraped one of her legs around his outstreached arm. "This isn't about 'corparatism', you psychopathic nutjob. Because of you, dozens of people are attacking anything that moves... Innocent people... police officers that just doing their jobs... You're no different then the evil you claim to be fighting..." Yuki, preping her body to endure the tremndous strain this would put on her neck, swung her legs back then kicked them both forward. Hard. If her strength wasn't enough, then perhaps her agility would bring her over the top...
  15. ((Yuki's grapple [with super strength and enhanced str] is a mere +10. Even on a nat 20, she'll still be unable to break grapple this turn [20 + 10 = 30])) Yuki gasped as the man's strength began to literally sieze in on her windpipe. She couldn't even talk anymore. One chance... She pointed to fingers at his face and out came the greenish web, aimed at his face... hopefully, it'll distract him enough to let go, or atleast give him something else to worry about...
  16. Alright, I'm back (read player away thread for details). I'm catching up on posts now and my post will be up by tonight at the latest. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  17. I apologize for my spotty appearances the past week and a half. A family emergency has taken my attention rather unexpectedly. I should be back to full compacity by Wednesday. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience, but my head isn't on rp right now...
  18. "Dude, if I wanted to be groped, I would've went to the movies..." The corny joke did little to stem her raging nerves. Already she felt her neck siezin in, the oxygen being deprived. She started to kick his face, his chest, anything in order to break his grasp. "Didn't you get the hint? LET. ME. GO!" Out of desperation, Yuki began to kick harder, emphasising each word with a harder kick...
  19. Waste not, want not I suppose. Sure, why not? :-p That would mean we have ourselves a grappling contest, one of Yuki's weaknesses. Interested to see how this plays out...
  20. Okay, sorry for the late reply. The Attack is successful. Here's the grapple defense.
  21. Just need to remind our esteemed GM that an attack attempt is needed firts BEFORE the grapple check. Thank you, and good night.
  22. Quite pathetic, but considering my lucky rolls as of late, I can't complain. :-p
  23. "Sorry sunshine," Yukigrinned at the amatuer attempt, "...leave the taunting to the pros, and on that note... Yuki Swung feet first towards the goons, before lifting her legs up and swinging over them!. She wasn't aiming for the goons... she was aiming for... Okay, now that she thought about... who was this roody-poo? Any way, She attempted to slam a foot into his now open visor, aiming to flip off him to maintain her acrobatic edge.
