  1. Muirne turned ashen white, stumbling slightly as she felt the constant pressure of the Schattenwelt cease. It had become part of her life and now it had just... gone. Her stomach turned and she grabbed onto the nearest team member for support. She tried to collect her bearings enough to warn everyone but all that was running through her mind was panic. Hit sy geleoren1She was trembling now, repeating the thought out loud "Hit sy geleoren..." it came out as barely a whisper, her voice shaking.

After what felt like an eternity she managed to collect herself managing to send out a coherent thought in English I can't feel the Schattenwelt, my link to it is gone.

    1 It is gone

  2. Meteor (Alternate Shooting Star) fights for the downtrodden in a world gone dark. The 2004 Grue invasion saw the aliens defeated at a much greater cost than in the Prime timeline, the Stellar Khanate used the demise of many of the world's superheroes to invade the Earth in 2007 when Alice was 3. They took a year to bring most of the Earth to it's knees, with a few places, including Freedom City resisting for some time after with assistance from the Star Knights and Lot Republic. The city finally fell in 2015 when the Khanate attacked the Republic directly, forcing them to quit the defence of the city, unable to maintain supply lines and needing the manpower elsewhere. A year later Alice developed her powers, and began to fight the Khanate with her superpowered brother as the superhero Meteor, hoping to live up to the legacy of the old Freedom League and the Centurion.

  3. Alice stood, looking around, trying to orient herself in this strange void. Habitually she raised her weight off the ground with her flight, before realising that whatever she had been standing on hadn't broken beneath her weight. She called out to the strangers she can hear in the mist, flying in the direction of the one she can hear, relatively slowly, knowing the damage she can do if she flies into someone. "Hello!? Can anyone hear me?" She knew it was possibly dangerous if the strangers were hostile, but figured it was worth the risk. "If you can hear me shout out!"

  4. Muirne smiled wider as Veronica talked about Janus, "That's nice to hear." Muirne chuckled lightly at the question about her mixture of an accent, "I'm from Kent, in England. The accent is because it was Síþwíf Dee and her fiancé Breogo1 Erick who taught me to speak English, so I have a mixture of their accents. What about you, where are you from?"

    1Prince, Lord or ruler

  5. Muirne returned Veronica's smile, "It's nice to meet you too.  From what I've seen I do think I'll like it here." She nodded as Veronica continued. "It was Síþwíf Dee that set up the tour, partly because everyone back home wanted to know what it was like. I'm glad she did, since having a chance to see what it's like here is definitely going to help." She gestured to her notepad full of directions and descriptions as she said this. "If you don't mind me asking, are you related to Janus, or is the name just a coincidence?"

  6. Alice was very glad that she'd intercepted that. Her poor breastplate now had a large scar on it from the impact. "You okay?" She threw the question back to the girl behind her, but didn't wait for an answer, speeding across the crowd faster than the rocket did, landing heavily in front of the thug with the rocket. She swung wildly, anger at the man overtaking reason, and realised that she had misjudged as her fist sailed through the air, missing the thug by a country mile, passing over a foot to the left of his head. She quickly tried to play it off as intentional as she took most of her weight off of the abused sidewalk, and glared at the man, hoping the display of power would stop him from doing anything stupid. "That was your last warning. Surrender, before I take you on a jaunt into the sky."

  7. Don't worry, you'll get used to it. Muirne thought in response to Mette's admisson, chuckling quietly, before returning to the more serious subject matter. I could probably manage in my shadowbeast form... Muirne offered. It had been a long time since she had willingly transformed, and she didn't look forward to doing so, but if it was for Vanguard she would do it. But I wouldn't really know what to look for technology-wise so I'd probably need either help or to stay in range. She settled back into her seat, closing her eyes and focusing on the familiarity of the song she was now singing under her breath as she prepared mentally for the landing.

  8. Muirne thought she had been lost before, but now she was barely even sure if Kam was speaking the same language as her. She did manage a smile at Kam's apology. "It's fine, I'm not opposed to you helping other people." She waved goodbye to Heroditus as they left. She noted Kam's explaination of the gym down, "I'm not superhuman outside of my transformation, so I'm sure that I won't need those, but I will definitely use the gym itself." she said with a smile

As Dee left, Muirne let her know through the mental link that if she should need anything Muirne would be willing to help, but continued with the tour. Muirne drew a small map of the gym as she passed through the rooms, pausing as she watched a girl flip through the air as she jumped across the room attached to a pair of bungee ropes, greeting Kam and Àjàṣorò. Muirne decided to wait for them to respond before doing or saying anything.

  9. Muirne was easy to miss among the much taller people around her. She was wrapped in a dark green cloak, below which was a white woollen tunic, drawn in at the middle by a belt, which reached her mid-thigh. She wore a pair of charcoal grey tights, and some nice leather walking boots. Her hair was pulled into a braid, and hidden by the cloak. She had her mother's pendant around her neck, since she hadn't wanted to leave both of her treasures from her family in her apartment, and had decided against bringing a knife to a diplomatic meeting. She sat in her seat, trying to quell the nervousness she felt as they flew to a nation controlled by what she had been told was one of the most dangerous supervillains in the world, who had proclaimed his intentions for peace. What was she supposed to think of this?

She huddled in her seat and watched people, quietly humming a lullaby her mother had sung her when she was younger. She especially watched Eira, who had entered into a meditative trance or something for most of the flight. She didn't know what to think about the girl after her interaction with her at Claremont, especially her final parting comment in her mother tongue. She hoped that this trip might help her get a bit closer to her future schoolmate, but wasn't sure how to go about that.

  10.  Muirne was entirely lost as Kam explained about how a combustion engine works, and even more so about the questions Heroditus levelled about the specifics. She was still trying to catch up with modern mathematics and science, let alone how a car engine works. "Uh, I'm sure you'll manage Heroditus." She managed a sheepish smile "But you both completely lost me, so you can't be doing too badly." She blushed a bit as Dee talked about having fun, but tried to laugh it off.

At Kam's mention of going to the gardens and Heroditus' suggestion of meeting there, Muirne nodded, "I suppose it would be a good place to end the tour then, since it would be for everyone." She smiled at Heroditus as he settled into his pile of books, "I suppose we should let you get back to work, it was nice meeting you. Talk to you later!"

  11. Alice missed the Eighty Eights van as she made her way through the crowd, planning on reaching the girl who had just flown in. She knew quite a few of the people here as both Alice and Shooting Star, so she took her time talking with them, letting them know that she wasn't here to bust people for drinking their Uncle Michael's moonshine, just here to make sure noting violent happened. It was slow going making her way through the crowd like this, but she didn't want to scare anyone by flying at the other super, least of all that super. They had probably seen her approaching, her costume was rather visible being white and blue with the bronze chestplate, but that was the idea. After a few minutes of slow going she did reach the bottom of the building, turning down a soda, before slowly floating up.

"Hey, you aren't here to start anything yeah? Folks here don't get lots of chances to celebrate, so can you let the minor things slide for tonight?"

  12. Muirne breathed a quiet sigh of relief that she hadn't inadvertently offended him. That's good to hear, thank you Síþwíf Dee. A small, wry smile came across her face at his admission of a lack of familiarity with technology. "I don't think you need to be ashamed around me when it comes to technology, I might be even less familiar than you." She nodded when he offered to talk after. "I think that would be nice. Where do you want to meet?"

She tried to keep up as Dee talked about the car in the magazine. She was pretty sure she'd seen one like it at the Estate when she was learning English, but she had zero clue about cars. She smiled slightly at Heroditus' reaction to her suddenly stepping in. "Síþwíf Dee is my guardian, she's here to have a look around before I come here."

  13. Muirne suddenly had to crane her neck upwards as Heroditus stood, her eyes widening slightly as she realised just how massive he was, despite apparently only being a year her senior. "Uh, thank you, it's nice to be here." She smiled brightly as another person commented on Kam's competence. "Janus mentioned something about the Kam being 'the best foot forward' for the Academy. All this praise might go to his head if we aren't careful. I didn't know there were gardens here, so I think I'll have to say I haven't seen them."

She saw his shift in expression at her words and a spike of panic hit, and her link to the Shattenwelt started to force itself open again as she watched him revert to a weak smile. She still had so much to learn and she clearly wasn't ready. She didn't know what she had said wrong. Her voice wavered slightly as she replied "I was not aware, I am sorry if I made you uncomfortable, I did not mean to pry." She wasn't sure how to respond as he began to talk about technology. She couldn't imagine, the most advanced thing she had done without assistance was find the way to where her village was on the laptop Dee had supplied her, and that had taken her nearly an hour. She realised after a half second delay that he had asked about her, and what she wanted to study.

"Well uhm. The main thing I want to get better at is controlling my power, since I sometimes transform without wanting to. I don't really know what outside of that I want to study, I'm still trying to catch up with the curriculum." She shrugged lamely as she admitted it, while she tried to wrangle the link closed.

  14. This is currently just me spitballing a Neverworlder Idea to satisfy my altitis. No need to go over it with a fine toothed comb if you can't be bothered, although feedback is welcome.

Ethnicity: Alien, from Neverworld. Appears Caucasian.
Height: 5ft (Wolf Form, 12'2" long, 7'6" at shoulder)
    Weight: 109lbs (Wolf Form: 1947.74101lbs)
    Eyes: Amber
    Hair: Mousy Blonde

Those who know her Neverworld identity know that the Little part of Little Red Riding Hood remains accurate, as she has to look upwards to meet most people's eyes and weighs very little despite being reasonably muscular. She is petite and attractive, her face framed by wavy locks of hair, while amber eyes stare out out her large eyes. Her eyes are in fact more those of a wolf than those of a human, even reflecting light the way a canine's do. On her left arm is a large scar that looks like it would belong to a dog or wolf, if one was the size of a draft horse.

As a civilian she is partial to tight but modest clothes, but always wears something red over the top, whether a jacket, hoodie or something else.

As the Crimson Wolf she wears her riding hood from her life in Neverworld, along with a white blouse, black breeches and some leather riding boots. As a wolf she is a massive, red and blonde canid.

    History:
Neverworld is a land of storied adventure, a world of great heroes, vile villains and mighty beasts. When Little Red Riding Hood was but a young girl she met one such creature, both beast and villain.

She was walking through the woods to her sickly grandmother's house with food and medicine when a stranger came up to her upon the trail. A Wolf that spoke as a gentleman, asking Little Red as to her destination with a basket full of food. Red had been warned of The Wolf, a trickster and a monster who roamed the woods who eternally hungered, but she was young and naive, not aware of The Wolf's cunning. So she told the Wolf of her sickly Grandmother and how she was walking through the woods to see her and was bringing her supplies. She spoke at length with this charming Wolf as she passed along the trail, until he bid goodbye and wished her and her Grandmother well. Little Red Riding Hood, thinking that she had gained a friend in the Woods continued on her way while The Wolf took a shortcut, beating her to her Grandmother's house and killing the old woman, preparing her into a stew to soften her old meat while assuming her form to trick the young girl he had met.

Little Red Riding Hood arrived at her Grandmother's house in good spirits, eagerly telling her 'Grandmother' about this kind stranger she had met in the forest, a Gentleman Wolf who she had befriended and how she hoped to see him on her way home. Quickly she stored away the goods from her basket, before inquiring about the stew The Wolf had prepared. The Wolf had been touched by the girl's enthusiasm about meeting him, her good-natured naivety had caught him off guard and his trickster nature won out against his hunger as he had some food to curb his appetite. So he served up his stew and sat with Little Red Riding Hood discussing her walk through the woods and her new 'friend'. However, his hunger could never be satisfied, especially not with the quantity of food he ate while keeping his role as a small elderly lady. Slowly his transformation began to slip, and Little Red Riding Hood began to take notice, remarking as her grandmother slowly became more bestial. Eventually the eternal hunger overpowered The Wolf's growing affections, and he pounced, but the child had grown wise to the trick that was occurring, as much as she had tried to deny it. She avoided being swallowed whole by the growing monster, instead her arm was caught in it's great jaws, leaving her permanently scarred and, although she did not know it at the time, cursed.

She escaped, fleeing into the depths of the forest, her naivety shattered by The Wolf's cruelty, working out what had happened as she had been the one to tell The Wolf of her Grandmother's house. It was with sickening clarity that she realised what the stew she had been given was made of. She curled up in a hollow tree as The Wolf burst out of the small house, returning to his true enormous size having eaten everything he could from the house, and began to hunt Little Red Riding Hood.

The Neverworlder began to feel the magic placed upon her by The Wolf's bite the next morning, her bite had stopped bleeding and she felt a hunger like she never had before, and began her first transformation as The Wolf found her. The Wolf while still hungry instinctively recognised Little Red Riding Hood as a pack member, even as the smaller wolf began to search to slake it's own hunger. After gorging themselves, Little Red Riding Hood transformed back into her human form, and was horrified by her actions. She fled the forest and The Wolf pursued, for years she fled and he would always track her down. One day she found herself in Langogne, France in Earth Prime, although she doesn't know how. Eventually, after acclimating to her new world she moved to Freedom City, where she set up her business, where she fixes broken items and delivers them to their owner after.

She fears that The Wolf will still find her here, she hopes that for some time she can settle, before she has to flee The Wolf once more.

    Personality & Motivation:
Little Red Riding Hood no longer trusts the way she did as a child, she is paranoid that The Wolf will find her and she will have to start fleeing once more. She is however, determined that if she can prevent others from suffering as she has she'll do whatever she can. She has grown cunning, skilled and self-reliant, but craves companionship that she denies herself due to her paranoia.

    Powers & Tactics:
She has wolf-like traits due to her curse, as well as her innate powers as a Neverworlder, and then she relies on her cunning and the assistance of her magical cloak. She generally uses the element of surprise rather than overpowering people due to her small size. She can assume her lupine form, which is physically powerful but has does not have human intelligence and has Hunger akin to The Wolf.

    Power Descriptions:
She has enhanced senses like those of a wolf, although not as acute. Her cloak has a small amount of magical power, and like all Neverworlders she is tougher than a regular human, with sharper hearing and a danger sense that she has honed well in her time fleeing The Wolf. In her Wolf form her cloak is absorbed into her and ceases effecting her, but her regular clothes which lack magic are not.

    Complications:
    The Wolf's Hunger

Little Red Riding Hood is cursed with a hunger like that of The Wolf, even in her human form. She is constantly hungry to some degree, and if she goes too long without food she begins to lose control of herself and her powers.

It's Coming, I know it is.

Little Red Riding Hood is paranoid that The Wolf might find her at any time, and as such is distrustful of people who approach her unless she knows their reasons beforehand, and always endeavours to avoid places she could be trapped. Anyone could be The Wolf, so until she has proof otherwise she will plan as if everyone around her is.

It won't happen, not while I'm here

Little Red Riding Hood has a soft spot for children, refusing to allow them to suffer fates like hers, even if this would jeopardise her safety and freedom.

  15. Muirne nodded at Kam's admonishment, noting that down along with all of his advice about the library. She was humming quietly again, but stopped when she heard a series of pops and clicks. She looked around, spotting the source, a boy surrounded by books. She watched him curiously, and then he spoke to Kam, who replied and introduced her to him. Muirne smiled at the Atlantean boy. "Hello Heroditus, it's nice to meet you." She wanted to ask about the sounds he'd been making, but decided on a less potentially offensive question, "If you don't mind me asking, what are you reading?"

  16. Alice watched the party, her suit pristine. She would have liked to have been among them as her civilian self, but she was still a hero and had a responsibility to be there as Shooting Star in case something went wrong. Still she was there and near enough to be a part of the party. She had always put herself among the people as a hero they could turn to. She was off to the side watching the party, leaning against a wall, a gentle smile on her lips. She waved as someone she knew passed, greeting them kindly.

  17. Muirne jumped as she heard Dee's voice in her head, but quickly recovered. I'll keep distance in mind Síþwíf Dee. She left the changing room, setting her shoulders confidently as she went to meet the older heroes. "I'll have to keep that in mind if I need to make food for you Breogo W- uh... Joe." She smiled at him in good humour as he flexed his muscles. "It's also good to know what to avoid eating too much of if I want to still fit my armour." She leaned on her spear as she waited for the others to get fully ready, glad she'd gotten into her gear in good time and wasn't going to hold the team up.

    Gender: Female

    Ethnicity: Caucasian

    Height: 6'1"

    Weight28,665 lbs (191.1 sans Density)

    109.3lbs if Muscle Atrophied

    Eyes: Blue

    Hair: Black

Alice is tall and well developed, with a well toned muscles and a curvy hourglass figure. Her hair reaches to between her shoulder blades. It looks light and bouncy, but anyone who touches it finds that it is heavier than it appears, although still soft. She has full lips and a slightly concave button nose. She has high cheekbones and large expressive blue eyes that seem to invite people around her to be comfortable.

As a civilian Alice wears dull, often very loose clothes, many are hand-me-downs from her brother that have been modified to fit her figure better, although they still hang loose off of her.

As Shooting Star she wears a white body-glove with sky blue boots and gloves, her cape is similarly white, with a blue trim around the edges. She wears a bronze breastplate over her torso, although she doesn't need the armour. To conceal her identity she wears a cowl that lets her hair out but covers her eyes and nose. Unlike most heroes her suit is not made of any advanced materials, and mostly she relies on her own invulnerability and it's form fitting nature to resist damage as bullets and blades normally don't penetrate her skin, so the costume does not tear, but the suit and especially the cape does often end up dirtied or torn, and there are often holes, tears and dents in her breastplate.

    History

Alice grew up in the Fens suffering from a condition that caused her muscles to atrophy, straining her parents already tight funds further. She spent the majority of her childhood tied to a wheelchair, only able to walk with help from others. Her parents both worked full time to make ends meet, while she and her older brother went to school. Even when very young she was very intelligent for her age, excelling in all her subjects while her brother, four years older than her excelled in the physical areas where she could not.

Then on her twelfth birthday she woke up to a nest of splinters as her bed shattered beneath her. On reflex she tried to escape the collapsing bed, and found herself flying. Quickly she calmed down, lowering herself to the floor, and finding that her once atrophied muscles were now developed and toned. Her parents and brother burst into the room having heard the noise to find their daughter standing next to a bed that looked like a freight train had been dropped on it while staring at a body that was no longer scrawny and weak.

Quickly she decided to become a superhero, as she had enormous strength, was incredibly tough and could fly incredibly fast, even capable of flying outside the atmosphere, and surviving up there, although she did ruin one of her favourite outfits discovering that she could survive reentry. Soon she became the hero Shooting Star, and fought to protect people. When she was fourteen, she fought a local super who was hiring themselves out to anyone willing to pay, including super villains, as hired muscle, only to find out that it was her brother. He didn't find out her identity, but she was shaken, knowing that he was out there doing mercenary work for villains.

Her and her brother both developing powers for no reason intrigued her and she investigated, finding that beneath their house was a now inert divine artefact of the Greek Goddess Astraea that had been leaking power into the house since before her or her brother's conception, causing a mutation in both her and her brother. As a result they are both more susceptible to divine powers as now that they have been affected so strongly by the divine, it is easier to do again. Still she goes out almost every day outside school to fight crime, although so far she has avoided another confrontation with her brother.

    Personality & Motivation:

Alice believes in doing good for goodness' sake. People need helping and she has the ability to do so, so she does so, but she would be lying if she said that that was the only reason. She enjoys the thrill of using her powers, pushing herself to the limits, the rush of dropping from orbit as flames curl around her. The adrenaline as she throws down with a villain, she laughs as villains try to pummel her to no avail, and grins when they can hurt her, savouring the chance to flex her muscles against a worthy opponent.

Alice's love of both conflict and peace seem an oxymoron, but she enjoys a life without limits, she can fly to the Moon or Mars, or even further on a whim, and she takes full advantage of this fact. She has freedom and power and sees no point restricting herself as Shooting Star, living a life she would call 'sublime', with peaks and valleys taller and deeper than those of others, she allows herself to be more joyous and more melancholy, greater anger and humour, but she knows that to live like that all the time is not something she can do, so she treasures her time as Alice, living a poor but happy life, and occasionally taking breaks, floating in orbit and just looking down at the Earth or out at the stars, taking time to relax and emotionally recharge.

    Power & Tactics:

Alice enjoys a straight fight, using her paragon power set to overpower her foes, relishing the challenge of a powerful foe. That is not to say Alice is simple however, while she enjoys her fights she also wants to protect people and stop the villains. If she finds that brute strength in a slug match won't win the day she will change up her tactics, fighting smarter if she has to, although her tendency to pick straight fights can get her in a lot of trouble.

Her powers are her enormous density and strength, an incredibly high flight speed and the ability to fly and survive in space. She can fly at FTL speeds outside atmosphere, but has never tested to see her upper limits. Her mutation has left her vulnerable to divine powers, as the circumstances that caused her

    Power Descriptions:

Her powers are simple, she is denser than osmium and incredibly tough and strong due to this fact, capable of propelling herself through both atmosphere and void and immune to the dangers involved.

    Complications:

If people broke into my house and started searching for money, I'd start looking with them.

Alice's parents struggle to make ends meet, both working full time to barely cover all of the bills and groceries.

Alice may find herself in a position where her lack of funds disadvantages her.

    Oops, was that me?

Alice's density and speed are both capable of causing large amounts of damage to public property or people.

Alice's power can cause problems for her such as getting trapped due to her density or causing damage by flying too low and too fast.

Where do you think you're going, Miss Armstrong?

Alice goes to a public school, not Claremont, as such she cannot slip away to be a superhero at will.

Alice's superhero duties get in the way of school, causing her trouble with the staff.

    Blood runs thicker.

Alice's brother works as a super powered mercenary working for the highest bidder, often supervillains. She does not know why he went down this path or how far he has gone. She is conflicted about this situation because she does not want to fight her brother, whilst wanting to stop him from pursuing his current path and wanting to keep him out of jail while also wanting to preserve her own identity.

Due to the complex feelings and difficult decisions regarding her brother, Alice is not sure how to handle a situation which involves her brother, and may worsen the situation by either hesitating too long or acting too quickly.

Can I have some help please?

If something causes Alice's density power to stop her muscles will revert to their previously atrophied state. She cannot move without assistance like that and cannot fight at all.

If something interrupts Alice's Density power she cannot take any strenuous action. If she cannot fly she will not be able to move under her own power, needing either assistance or a wheelchair.

    Fickle and Temperamental

Alice's powers are derived from an artefact of the Greek Gods, and when they find out about it they will likely act on the information in some manner.

When the Greek Gods learn of the nature of Alice's power they may choose to act upon the information however they choose, claiming her as a champion, attempted murder or anything in between. This can easily complicate her life.

Life Support includes environmental radiation, so you don't need to buy that separately.

And I assume that the environmental heat Immunity that Life Support includes allows you to fly into and out of the atmosphere without taking damage; it would be weird if all the sample paragon builds didn't actually work. So I don't think you need the fire damage Immunity either.

I'll cut out the Radiation Immunity, thanks for pointing that out.

As for the Fire Immunity, I just figured they were bright enough to slow down so as to not burn up on reentry, or their powers just negated the air flow. I was tempted to put damage as a side effect on her flight, but I'm not sure how to put it on so that it only kicks in at the high velocities, and also given her limited immunity and impervious toughness it would have to be mega high to even effect her so it felt like cheating to put it on and reap the points.

You need to write which skills Skill Mastery applies to next to the feat.

Bluff and Diplomacy are good candidates for Skill Mastery. Gather Info and Knowledge aren't. You generally want a skill you'd actually be using while being "threatened" or in a high-stakes situation. DokA wrote a good article on that in this forum.

That being said, none of those skill bonuses are high enough that you'd want to take 10, so I don't think this character benefits from Skill Mastery at all.

Those Notice and Sense Motive bonuses are so low I'm wondering why you bothered investing any ranks there at all.

That's a good point, I'll probably cut out skill mastery. The main reason I bothered putting points in notice and sense motive was so she even could, since she has a really low wisdom.

You should write down all the powers that Density gives you.

    I'll do that, thanks.

Density gives you Super-Strength, which affects your grapple bonus and your carry capacity.

I knew about the carry capacity part, but I didn't know about the grapple, thank you for pointing that out.

Density gives you Impervious to go with those free Protection ranks. You should note that in your Toughness save, and that also affects your knockback resistance.

Yeah I'll note that down. The knockback resistance is already accounted for, since it gives her immovable which is what unstoppable is applied to.

    Why PL8 and not PL10?

    Why another teenager?

I just think they're neat. If I make another character I'll probably go for a higher age, since I think three would be a bit much.
