Cup of Gigawatts (IC)

The octo-blob shuddered under the hail of plastic projectiles from Catalyst, and even as it tried to attack her again the psuedopod moved rather lazily through the air, dripping ooze on the floor. Before the heroine could exploit the opening, the blobby mess was surrounded and boxed in by yellow-tinged walls of force. She looked towards the elevators and saw a handful of figures, in more elaborate and bulky versions of the Lab's security uniform, spill out into the parking garage. Each was holding a wapsish, chrome plated rifle, like something out of Flash Gordon. The rifles were pointed at the blob, and it seemed that they were holding it in place. The lead guard did a double-take at the biohazard-suited woman crouching on (the remains of) a car. "Hero! Listen, we've got this thing covered for now. Thanks for handling it, but they need you out on the street!"

Up in the lab, heroine and blob exchanged blows to little effect. Ironclad pulled back and widened the distance between them, mind racing for a solution. The last time she had faced these things they hadn't liked heat; maybe spray ethanol on it and --

A yellow-tinged box sprang up around the blob, interrupting her thoughts and capturing it against the wall. She glanced up at the ceiling and noticed small metal devices, like chrome-plated pens, pointing at the blob. Oh yeah, she thought to herself, we have a security system.

With the threat contained, the superhero opened up her mind, preparing to call a security detachment up to deal with the creature (and find out where Jasmine had gotten) when a flood of radio transmissions poured into her skull. ~All cars please report to vicinity of the Lab in Hanover. Code 221 in process, cordon area off and prepare for STAR intervention.~ Superhuman Tactics And Regulation? They were the police that were deployed when superheroes couldn't get to the area quickly enough. If STAR was being called in...

She dashed out of the lab and to the curving window that made up the outer walls of the Lab. No one could see in from outside, but Ironclad had a perfect view of a neon-green blob, at least ten stories tall, roll down the streets. It lashed out with a pseudopod and smashed a row of cars. The armored heroine cursed under her breath and, after a thought, dashed over to the elevator core and headed up. She did not want to tangle with that thing in close quarters.

Smiling at the scientists Catalyst watched the smoke clear as she looked at the blob before giving them a mild salute and running off and up the slopes of the parking garage. She made it up the street in no time and had her rifle in her hands as she looked up and saw well just about everything she needed to see. Seriously, she couldn't miss it, it was at least three stories high and was covering at least two blocks in it's bulk. It did not look friendly in the least, and in the same strain as the others she decided it best not to hold back. She got her strongest acid round into the barrel as she took a few seconds to carefully aim her long range rifle at the monster. She doubted the thing even noticed her sitting there on the street like a yellow bee.

Well hopefully, this will provide plenty of sting.

She squeezed the trigger and shot out as many rounds as she could manage into the giant target not thirty feet away.

Ironclad came in at a steep angle, preparing to blast the goo beast until it was baked crispy, but it had already been handled. Catalyst's flood of pellets had overheated the blob, driving the moisture out of it and leaving it a scrum of green yuck stretching for most of a city block. The armored heroine made a lap of it just to make sure there wasn't going to be an eruption, then set down next to the hazard-suited shooter. "Nice work, Catalyst," she said, her abnormally fast, abnormally connected mind already making connections between the woman with the paintball gun and the chemical heroine. "Don't know where you came from, but you put that thing down pretty darn quick! Don't worry, the Lab can handle it from here." She turned to survey the remains of the blob and tried to remember what the city ordnance for the use of napalm inside a built-up area was.

Catalyst was about to skiddadle when Ironclad came from above. She needed a few seconds to think of what to say, she did just talk to the woman not five minutes in her civilian guise. Though really she doubted that would actually come up,

"I was in the parking garage earlier before coming out here. That large blob certainly took me by surprise, but it was just an impossible to miss moving target once it got out into the open. Not to mention if it was stable at all, it was very biologically fragile so it wasn't likely to take anything you may of delivered if you had taken the shot before I had."

She looked over at the blob and the various trucks passing by to clean it up,

"The proximity to the lab is both highly fortunate and highly suspect, this seems a little too extreme to be something that happened at random."

Ironclad glanced at the remnants of the goop on the sidewalk. "Actually, I think this is something I might have brought back." She shook her head. "In any case, it's going to require a through cleaning, of each and every particle." She stuck out a gauntleted hand to the woman in the biohazard suit. "Thank you for the help in containing the monster, but I think I can handle things from here."
