  1. First thing he will do is connect to nearby surveillance camera systems and try to delete files with them in view. If he is close enough, he will connect directly with his datalink. If not, he will try to connect through wireless and cellular networks. The systems he is targeting are low security convenience stores and such, not governmental traffic cams. Then, he will search the vehicle with his datalink for any computerized GPS systems and shut them down. Also, he won't want to travel far in the car. Just enough to get out of the area. When they have an idea of where to go, he'll plan to teleport the two of them in, so as to stay out of sight.
  2. Bishop smiled. "I will take you with me, Jules. You have my word. Frankly, I'm afraid it would be too dangerous for you to leave you behind, so it is something of a relief to take you somewhere safer. "Oh, and believe me, I know this whole world is dangerous for me. I'm fixated on my 'local-self' only because, by my calculations, he is the most likely to track me down. He knows how I think and what I am likely to want. "But, first things first... let's get out of here." Bishop sat back in the passenger seat and slouched down, resting his head on his hand to help conceal as much of his face as he casually could. "And as you drive, I'll see what I can do to cover our tracks."
  3. "Well... you're the expert here, so I'll defer to you on this. Assume for the sake of argument, then, that I am telling the truth and that I came from another dimension. How would you figure out which one? Then, how would you travel to that dimension? I would suspect a clue might be in the kind of damage the equipment you- that is, the other you... built." He indicated a point on the scepter. "Smoke was coming out of that side panel near the handle when I first popped up here. It wouldn't work after that. Maybe even differences in design would tell you something. I have no idea. That's your bailiwick. I'm just a guy who plays a lot of chess. "Also... I know you don't want to risk my -- that is.. your me's, wrath but, assume that that me wanted to track you down. How would he do it, and how could you dodge his scrutiny? I'd start with taking the battery out of your cell phone, so he can't trace the GPS signal. That's how I'd start looking for you. If I had your GPS location, I could be right on top of you in three seconds. Then, I'd start combing surveillance camera feeds and such. If I were especially paranoid and protective of a valuable resource like you, I'd have a tracer on you or near you somewhere. I'm going to want to teleport you away from this car, since it might be tagged. But, did he ever give you anything? Something you keep with you at all times?" He took a deep breath and signed. "Sorry if I seem paranoid, Jules. People tell me I'm my own worst enemy, but in this case, it could be quite literally true."
  4. He'll take his skill mastered 17.
  5. Seconds later, Bishop appeared in the living room. "I'm sorry I had to take Melvin away so suddenly, Arleen. He is in a safe place, I assure you, and will bring him back here..." He paused as he surveyed the mess. "...or to wherever you'd like me to take him. Or, I can take you to him, if you prefer." Bishop had a sudden thought and held up a finger as he pulled a cell phone out of a utility pouch of his belt. "Actually, let me get him on the phone now." Then he added with a lopsided grin as he dialed the number, "and I owe an explanation to my friends watching out for him. I didn't have much time to explain at the time."
  6. "Let's take the next exit, Doctor. Then we can talk. I think we have much to talk about." Once they were comfortably parked in a parking lot of a convenience store just off the highway, Bishop continued. "Jules, I am Donovan Cross, but not the one you know. And, you are right, I do need help with my scepter." He drew the damaged device from its holster and showed it to the doctor. "I'm from an alternate Earth, Jules. One where you and I are pretty good friends, actually. One where the super-powered beings of our version of the Syndicate work to help people. ...In other words, a much nicer place to live than here. ...and I'd very much like to get back to it. "Look, I am sorry to drag you into this. Helping me could be dangerous for you and so, say the word, and I'm out of here. I'll try to find another way home, though, frankly I don't have other ideas at the moment. But, I meant it when I said I was friends with.. the other you. I'd hate anything bad to happen to any of... you." Bishop rubbed his chin thoughtfully for a moment. "...and, I don't know for sure, but we might not have a lot of time. Word of my arrival here may have already reached... your Donovan. And, assuming he thinks about like I do... he might be checking up on you soon looking for me."

  8. He has +7 to sense motive and it's skill mastered. (Actually, I wonder if that's really an appropriate skill to have skill mastery of. But, anyway...) With a roll, I get a url=http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3250187/]25.
  9. Bishop knew some of the experts in dimentional technology on his Earth. It was a reasonable assumption that the same scientists were experts here, and, in seconds, he was reading the C.V. of a Dr. Julius Wilhelm. He was, apparently, just as much an expert on this world as on "real" Earth, and "real" Earth's Dr. Wilhelm's research was fundamental to the design of Bishop's scepter. Bishop slowly smiled as a plan began to form in his mind. He disconnected from the network and, to continue to evade potential capture, teleported to a random spot in the sky where he floated for a few minutes, choosing new potential places to duck out of sight. At about 7:30 the next morning, Dr. Wilhelm was driving to the university, taking his usual route. As he came to a stop in traffic, he turned his head to look to his passenger seat as a strange sound drew his attention there. He nearly jumped out of his skin at the sudden appearance of the chess master sitting in the seat next to him. "Good morning, Doctor!" Bishop said warmly. "I'm sorry, but you are going to need to change your plans today. I have a bit of a problem, and I need your help..."
  10. Bishop's goal is to strike as fast as possible. He will first teleport to the general area, get a visual of the trailer and where the guy is likely to be in it, then teleport right in and prepare to thump him if he doesn't surrender.
  11. A gleeful smile broke out on the chessmaster's face. "With pleasure, Miss..." and with that, he vanished. Within seconds, Bishop had sighted the trailer from above, locked in to the villian's room, and with a zzzzut, teleported directly behind him. He casually rested the tip of his scepter on the clown-maker's shoulder. "I strongly suggest you sit right there and not move until the police arrive." After a short pause, he added, "Yeah, I know you have no idea what this thing can do to you, but you're a smart guy. You can probably figure it wouldn't be pretty."
  12. Intimidate of: 1d20+1=11 Well.... maybe there are some situation bonuses... Bishop knows he sucks at that kind of thing and is assuming the worst: that supers will be looking for him soon. In the meantime, he's doing a Computer Research (a Mastered 25) to dig around and try to get a grip on where the hell he is and who might be approachable for help getting back home.
  13. Bishop acknowledged Miss Americana's instruction with a curt nod, then seconds later was admiring her handiwork. When the Clown-man finished his spiel, he crossed his arms and gave the hologram a skeptical look. "Can't find you? Seriously?" He gestured to Miss Americana. "I know you probably don't know me, but surely you know her. Do you really think we can't find you and stop you? Oh, and your son is safely away from here, by the way. Miles away. You've already lost. Don't tell me you're not smart enough to realize that."
  14. Bishop was good at a lot of things. He was, hands down, one of the foremost tactical geniuses of the world. But, silver-tongued he was not. Still, he decided he'd have to fake it and hope for the best. He folded his arms across his chest and smiled at the officer enigmatically. "You should be careful what you stick your nose in. You wouldn't want it to vanish..." And with that... he vanished. ...And reappeared high in the sky. From there he picked out a comfortable-looking skyscraper roof-top and teleported there. He had some heavy thinking to do. He had to assume the worst about his attempt to intimidate the officer and that he would be hunted for soon. He sat down hopefully out of sight of any possible observers and pondered his situation. From experimentation and study of his powers, he knew that it worked by shifting dimensionally. He also knew of the existence of parallel universes, one of which he was clearly in right now. His only course of action was to collect information and, with a bit of luck, find someone who could get him back home. Using his equipment, he began seeking out an active computer in the building below him -- one connected to the internet that he could use to find general information about where he was. I wonder if they have Google...
  15. Huh. I thought I posted a response in IC. I don't know what happened to it. Okay, I'll recreate it.
  16. Very cool! A quick question: does the EMP affect my electronics? I would think so. Also, is combat over, so I should post now? I'm not sure.
  17. Bishop crouched down to eye level with Melvin, took him by the shoulder and looked him in the eye. "You heard that downstairs. Things just got dangerous here. I'm going to get you and your mother to safety, okay?" Melvin nodded and before he even finished the gesture of assent -- zzzut! The two of them appeared in the upstairs office of the Clarion Chess Club, Clarion Street, Philadelphia. Mike was sitting at his chair behind his desk watching YouTube videos and almost fell backwards at their sudden appearance. Bishop stood up from his crouch next to Melvin and faced Mike. "Mike, this is Melvin. Melvin, Mike. No time to explain, Mike. Superhero stuff. I'll be right back." Zzzzut! In an instant, Bishop was standing in the living room, right next to where Melvin's mother had been sitting. "Arleen, Melvin is safe. I'll take you to him."
  18. Hey, it's quite alright. I've been pretty busy, too, so was actually appreciative of the slower pace. I'll post tonight.
  19. Okay. This is my first combat post, so please just let me know if / when I mess something up... My first priority is to get Melvin to safety. If possible, I'd like to quickly convince him to willingly teleport with me, take him to the Club in Philadelphia, then teleport back (turnabout) the same turn if possible. If not, then I'll do the actions below and plan to return my next turn. (My goal next turn will be to do the same with his mother so that they are both safely out of the way and, probably, denying Melvin's father of whatever his goal is). Free Action - talk to Melvin and get his willingness to teleport. Standard Action - Ready Action: "grapple" Melvin if we are attacked before I get his willingness or just hold him if he is cooperative. Move Action - Teleport with Melvin to Philly. Free Action - tell the team what I'm doing.
  20. Bishop monitored the conversation downstairs though the communications link and was relieved. It was sounding like there were no immediate threats, though Miss Americana might have her work cut out for her. As to the sights Melvin presented him, Bishop openly admired the young boy's work. "This is... amazing. You know, Melvin, people consider me a pretty smart guy, but I have no clue how you did what you've done here. It's way beyond me. Can you show me what some of this stuff does?" From the conversation downstairs, it was seeming the real trouble might be from a technological direction after all. With his computer interface, he reached out to Melvin's homemade computer to search for any sign of 'Johnny.'
  21. I plan to boil it down to: fish-out-of-water-with-messed-up-tech. I'll edit appropriately.
  22. During the pleasantries and early conversation with Arleen, Bishop begins preparing a Master Plan to deal with her in case things go pear-shaped. His mastered tactics and tactics benefit give him an automatic 25 for Master Plan.
  23. As he politely listened, Bishop was busy calculating tactics in case things went badly. He assembled a mental map of the area including cover, lines of sight, and obstacles to maneuvering. His mind quickly prioritized objectives and effective responses to the most likely vectors of attack. [bg=#404040]"If things get violent, I will secure Melvin's safety so the two of you can focus on any threats."[/bg] Given his confidence that Miss Americana and Caradoc could handle anything an apparently retired acrobatic super-criminal could throw at them, it seemed the most effective roll for him in this situation. But, even given the mother's criminal background, he held out hope that reason would prevail. Hoping to give the others an opportunity to talk without Melvin in earshot and to advance his general plan of keeping Melvin safe, Bishop called out to the boy, "Hey, I'd really like to see that lab you told me about. Are you still up for showing me?" Turning back to Melvin's mother, he asked, "Would that be okay?"
  24. Arleen just called "Caradoc" by his name "Harrier." Is that Arleen actually saying that or a GM slip?
