  1. Myrmidon observed Bres during the exchange, his eyebrows furrowing as the conversation progressed.

"He's lying." "Well...maybe lying's the wrong word, sorry. But he's not talking straight to us, I'd bet money on it."

He couldn't get a read on the man, but something still seemed off. John made a mental note to keep an eye on the man. "That may be true Mister Crow, but we do not have any evidence to back it up." He turned around to address Sun Wukong. "They will be back however at a time of their choosing, and I do not wish to be unprepared. Do you have any literature or information I could peruse on these yaoguai, Great Sage Wukong?"

  2. John was momentarily taken by surprise as his duplicates were cut down, their mental echoes flat-lining. In that moments lapse of concentration the opposing shadowy ninjas had surrounded him, leaving no viable way to withdraw. Knowing what was coming he tensed his body to try and lessen the blows, but they still managed to snake a few through his defense. A particularly vicious punch hit him in the chest, driving the air out of his lungs. Tch. Third rib bruised, maybe cracked, the clinical part of his mind thought as he weathered the flurry of blows.

  3. He peeked around the corner and saw twenty of them, each armed with a motley collection of firearms.

Myrmidon zeroed in on the group hauling the barrel to the cistern. "We need to stop them." he spoke in hushed tones. A flash-bang grenade materialized in his left hand. "If the both of you two flank them, we can attack them from multiple sides after this detonates."

He continued, "I can provide cover fire from here as well." Hopefully the grenade would dazzle them causing them to lose control of the barrel, while the others were caught unaware by Animus and Lord Steam.

  4. "Isn't ethics what color people's skin is and what country they lived in such a long time ago that it doesn't even matter anymore but everyone seems to think it does?"

John replied between bites of his food. "That would be ethnics, Mister Brian."

Right and wrong? Are you serious? What, they think I don't know the difference between right and wrong? That's even worse!"

He looked over to peter, his face inscrutable underneath the sunglasses he wore constantly. "As Mister Darwin can attest to, I am indeed serious." He deadpanned.

"As to answer you other issue Mister Peter, ethics is about the fundamental 'meta' concepts of things like good or evil, vice and virtue, and justice. It is not about knowing what is right or wrong, but understanding where you came to have them and how you weigh those decisions. For example, you might call something 'wrong' whereas I do not, since my outlook and experiences make my point of view different than yours."

It looked like he had suddenly remembered something as John turned to face Darwin. "I believe you asked me this morning if I had been to the Hanover Zoological Park. I have not."

  5. "I think you are thinking of the term 'etiquette' Mister Peter." John said as he sat down the half empty glass on his tray. "Ethics deals with questions about morality. Such as the concepts of good and evil, and other similar things of that nature."

He dug a spoon into his rice, looking thoughtful. John continued his train of thought. "As such, ethics does play an important role in understanding what it truly means to be a hero."

John was seemingly finished talking at that, as he started to eat the rice on his plate.

  6. John carried the myriad other things the others had said that they would need for their "gnarly beach party" as Darwin put it to him. John frowned slightly at the thought of his exuberant roommate, and how he didn't understand half of the words out of his mouth. Shaking his head free of that thought, he made his way down to the beach whereupon he proceeded to set up the towels, coolers, and other items. Brian and Darwin will still frolicking in the surf, leaving him with the parrot as he put together a beach umbrella.

Once done, he had looked around and found a buoy anchored offshore, about a hundred or so meters out. Perfect. He went into the water, swimming towards it with broad overhead strokes.

As he made his way to the buoy, he noted with a bit of satisfaction that this was indeed a more rigorous exercise than his regular swimming in the pool at Claremont.

  7. John looked around the gathered people to see if there were any other creatures potentially lurking about. Seeing none, he listened to Sun Wukong explain the reason for the demons presence here and their goals.

After he had finished and Crow had his say, Myrmidon had queries which he posed to the Monkey King. "Will this effect the tournament at all? They attacked in plain sight and are not bound by the rules of the tournament, so could someone else be perpetrating this? I do not see how they could have gotten inside this area here without alerting some attention."

He looked farther down the hallway. "I also wonder what their purpose or objective of being here was in the first place, as it seems ill advised to plot aloud in a public area."

  8. "Roger that, let's move out." Myrmidon said, as he followed Animus deeper into the bowels of the water treatment plant. He scanned his surroundings continually, hoping to avoid another ambush. Noting the more enclosed spaces than the entry to the plant, he changed his weapon to be more suitable to the environs.

Still, this facility offered many places to hide not to mention the rapidly approaching nightfall would further complicate things. While he wondered about who would go to the facilities offices, his instincts as a soldier felt that the better target was the water supply. He held his weapon at the ready, trusting Darwins' nose to lead them to their objective.

  9. As Darwin was returning with food and a means to contain the spill, John had entered the mess hall. He had a towel draped around his neck and in general looked like he had just finished a long run.

Noticing his new roommate conversing with some other students, John made his way over to them after picking himself up some food. He sat down next to Darwin and noticed the water logged backpack.

"Power snafu?" John asked idly before taking a long drink from one the glasses of water on his tray.

  10. Myrmidon policed their weapons, removing the firing pins just to be safe while the man continued to prattle on.

At the mention of having a word with one of them, John tapped one of the vagrants in the head with the butt of his tranquilizer rifle. No response, they were solidly unconscious.

He looked over to the man in period clothing, his voice a bit muffled through his helmet. "You won't get much information out of them. In any case I would prefer to stop the tampering of the water supply over trying to interrogate these men. We do not have enough time to do it properly." He made his way past the man and next to Darwin.

"You are free to stay here and gather intelligence if you wish while we reconnoiter the plant." He said nodding his head at the unconscious attackers.

  11. John didn't notice it at first, being slightly distracted by recent events. The adrenalin coursing through his system did not help at all either, his body running on autopilot as he made sure the others had only minor injuries.

"Uh...guys...we missed breakfast. And class. We skipped class."

    "...We're doomed."

Class? I don't have classes. John thought. They were still hammering out what to enroll him in, since he didn't exactly have a formal education. The mental light bulb clicked on when he had realized what he missed. Mister Summers had wanted to talk to him about the possibility of having a roommate, at 0930 in his office. He looked at his watch numbly, the digital display showing the horrible truth.

The silence was shattered as his helmet slipped out of his grip in shock, thunking hollowly twice as it bounced on the hard floor.

"Oh." was the weighty utterance, a look of genuine apprehension on his face.

  12. The ominous lightning-filled skies reflected off all the Myrmidon's face-plates, the sound of rain and hail bouncing off their body armor. One of them pointed at the portal. "I concur. We have met our objectives," shouting so that he could be heard over the storm. That one then turned to the duplicates, the strength of the storm doing little to interfere with communication with his psi soldiers.

-- Move out. Demolitions charge on the exit. --

The others complied without a word, all of them working on a shaped charge directed to cause the area to collapse inward on the portal after they had left. Once done they fell back through the portal to Parkhurst, one Myrmidon holding a remote detonator switch in hand. He activated it while Crow closed the portal on their end, making sure the explosion was contained solely on the other side. Muted booming noises could be heard as the portal winked out of existence.

The duplicates faded out shortly thereafter, as John removed his helmet.

  13. Ignoring the Fae woman, Myrmidon set his sights on getting Glowstar back into the fight and reopening their exit.

-- Extraction, Target Golf-1 & Demolitions. I want that Ice Barrier gone." --

A chorus of copy that echoed in his mind. Myrmidon and his duplicates surged toward their objective in sync, weapons shifting to something that looked like an over-sized staple gun in hand.

Once in position, eleven lancing beams of white-hot energy shot out, searing into the ice.

  14. Allrighty. Free action Myr + Dupes make this:

  15. Seeing the Crab Demon taking a series of punishing attacks, he knew that there was another target still unaccounted here as well. John launched into a series of savage blows aimed at the Bat Demon, giving Sun Wukong a wide opening the blindside the creature. He grinned briefly as the creature fell for his plan, not knowing the intent of his maneuverings. He still was however wondering why these things had attacked Miss Ironclad and what their goal was. It seemed outright inane that someone would try something of this nature while not seemingly affiliated with the tournament.

  16. He grimaced underneath his helmet as the man in period clothing showed that there were people more unsubtle than Darwin. There goes any sort of covert method. John thought ruefully. He did a quick sweep of the entry visually, making sure there were no snipers before breaking cover.

John stood, and came out of the tree-line towards the other two men. He gestured with his tranquilizer rifle at the still cooling barrels of the gatling guns. "I would suggest pressing our attack. If there any more defenders, they now know of our presence here."

He looked over at Animus. "You would be best on point with your sensory abilities."

  17. I am going to be in the process of upgrading to a new computer, so it might take me a day or two to get all the files/etc. transferred over. Hopefully it should be a quick process, but I might not be around till late Saturday/Sunday.

  18. Myrmidon watched the fight progress between the two ninjas, the shadowy horde, Wisp, and the other hero. The ninjas seemed adept at dodging blows, so he needed to make sure that his allies could get in a clean hit. A pistol-like weapon appeared in his left hand, sparks of electricity arcing between the two prongs. John gestured for the officers to move aside as he concentrated on deploying out as many soldiers as possible. The appeared around him, similar weapons to his at the ready.

-- Directed Fire, Target Bravo. Wisp Flanking -- he commanded mentally to his duplicates.

-- Copy that. -- Was the reply.

The double doors of the museum slammed open with an echoing BANG! as the duplicates moved into position, their weapons firing dazzling whitish-blue bolts of electricity at the black ninja. The shots landed as intended, leaving him in an open and exploitable position to Wisp...
