  1. The sights and sounds before him brings The Vestige memories of times long gone. This seems to invigorate the ancient one. Now this is a battle! It does me good to be in another of this magnitude...

He takes a few steps before sending another thought. Now is the time for them to have a taste of a true battle...

Setting his mind on battles during his previous life, The Vestige begins to gather an impossible amount of mana from the surrounding environment. In moments it reaches a critical point and searing hot winds begin to whirl around him. These winds burn and slice through anyone and anything within it as it begins to encompass the entire canyon and several miles surrounding it. Nothing is spared, except for The Vestige and his companions.

  2. Like what Quote and Geez3r said, I'm fine if The Vestige never really succeeds in a meaningful way. As long as my actions serve to heighten the heroic nature of the heroes I'm fine with that.

As for my first two examples, I was trying to focus more on having those just be situations. It would be up to the heroes if things go as planned or they save the people or themselves.

    As I said earlier:

What makes a hero better? Is it the villains you face, Batman? The things you've returned from, Superman? Or the mistakes you've made, Wonder Woman?

In short, villains (especially arch-enemies) should serve as a foil to the heroes so that they shine all the brighter after having faced difficult and sometimes overwhelming odds and staring into something of their darker selves.

  3. To be fair, heroes are defined by their villains.

God-like heroes like Superman wouldn't last very long if all they had to face were things that would pose no threat (real or perceived) to them. But let Superman face off against one of his arch-nemesis like Darkseid or Braniac who plan to destroy the Earth or convert it to another hell and we can see what really makes a hero thus.

I think a quote made by Zoom in the first issue of the Sinestro Corps War would sum up what I'm trying to convey:

What makes a hero better? Is it the villains you face, Batman? The things you've returned from, Superman? Or the mistakes you've made, Wonder Woman?
  4. Since we're trying to come up with a code for villains to adhere to, I think it is best if we have some concrete examples of the extremes of what villains can do here.

Which of the following examples be ok in this forum?

    • [*:18v88v1d]Joker's stunt in the Dark Knight movie where he has two ferries decide on the fate of the other to test their humanity
[*:18v88v1d]Zoom's (Hunter Zolomon) attempts to make heroes stronger by having them face personal tragedies
[*:18v88v1d]A villain's attempts to destroy the world if humanity doesn't rise above itself

  5. No prob Q. You would have probably done great.

In other news, can I ask a ref to GM this adventure of mine? The other guy in this adventure is supposedly a major canon figure so I was hoping to have one of you guys do this so I don't do anything that contradicts his personality or canon.

  6. Moments after receiving the message from Malice, the generator succumbs to the forces of time and erosion and quickly crumbles into dust.

"Everything is done here on my end, Malice. Proceeding to the next checkpoint."

And with that, The Vestige drops out of sight only to appear at his destination in less than a second.

  7. 1) The Vestige

    2) The Vestige meets with someone who he knows from the past. (Details will be PM'ed to interested GM)

    3) No one else since this is meant to be a private meeting between The Vestige and the other guy

    4) Closed

    5) Flexible if possible. I can't account for RL. I want to use this story as a way to flesh out my char.

    6) Only a handful. He hasn't been out much

  8. The Vestige tries to avoid the numerous metal blades but they are faster. Several of the blades strike him but they fail to pierce his armor.

"Very well then. No more words. Let our skills speak for us."

The Obsidian Blade forming in his hands, The Vestige moves to strike at the Fey Lord as his earlier blast veers around to strike Dalkaresh at the same time. Unfortunately, both sword and magical blast hit the same ephemeral double.
