  1. First off, the Freedom City book is a very good investment if you intend to play on this board. Not indispensable, but it's outrageously useful for the price. Inside, there's literally hundreds of locations which would be fine targets for a heist. (Speaking of which, trying looking at the "Heist" thread in the North End, Downtown.) Here's a few choice locales:

    1. Haas Brothers Jewelers. A local chain of stores. Try the Riverside area in Downtown.

    2. ASTRO Labs. Technical Research Institute. Very high security, but very big payoff. In North End, Downtown.

    3. Freedom City Historical Museum. It's a museum. Rob it. In Midtown, Downtown.

You could simply start a thread, but you might have to "advertise" to get a hero to step in. And yes, you could simply say you robbed a low to mid security place. Somewhere like ASTRO labs would be a different story, though. As for reputation, if you pull it off right, as any good thief should, (but that's boring, right? :) ) you won't get one. But there are heroes out there that don't need to catch you in the act to catch you. Take Foreshadow, a hero in the Freedom City book, for example. He's got precognition. I think a couple other heroes have special senses that would help them out there.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll be looking into a lot of that. I have access to the 1st ed of Freedom City so that should help a lot.

So it's safe to say that the normal supers are also in town as well? Okay, I'll have to check up on who they are.

I wonder, could it be possible for a Ref to put up a thread somewhere that lists the established heroes and villians in the city for easy reference? Would help people pull in Npcs a lot better.

I'll also take your advice and look into the various locations and starting my own thread. We'll see how it goes from there.

  2. I was wondering if the refs had any basic locations for villians to hit. Specifically, I'm looking for visting exhibitions of priceless jewerly or artifacts somewhere in the city. Museums as well as Auctions would also make great targets for the average villian to hit. I've seen one villian hit a casino and a few other but there doesn't seem to be any large scale targets for heists.

To get one started, would I simply need to start a thread? Could I create such a situation and have my villian simply succeed for the first few times to get a reputation started in the city? If so, how many heists could he pull before he started to attract too much attention?

  5. Just wanted to check about splitting the power control ability over multiple rolls in a round. Is it possible?

Also, should I declare the use of the power before rolling or can I do it after the roll? Just want to be clear before a situation comes up.

Sammy smiled as he looked up and down the Boardwalk, examinig the varioud casinos and gambling establishments in sight. He knew that like most other cities, the best way to get noticed by the mob was to make your presence known in thier most lucrative area -- the casinos.

Four the larger establishments catch his eye.

The Atlantis with its aquatic theme seemed nice. Near the South River which gave it one of the better views. Sammy marked it as a possible source to test the waters.

The Golden Calf with its blazen golden decore. Sammy frowned and quickly placed it on the lower end of his list. He loved gold just as much as anyone else, but for some reason, gold just seemed to get in his way. Best to pick a location where he wouldn't be trapped if the need arose for a quick getaway.

The Paradise with its attempt to be something that in all reality it wasn't. A lot of families trying to get away to a tropical world without having to pay the price would be a nice location to keep his simpler skills honed, but Sammy was looking for a bigger fish to fry today.

The Southside Palace with its old style look, reminded Sammy of his days in Chicago. The place looked like it had money written all over it but of course, that wasn't proof that it was what he was looking for.

Sammy rubbed his chin in thought. 'Perhaps one of the smaller casinos would be a better place to start?' Sammy looked down teh street noticing the poor shape the entrance to a casino called the Lucky Sevens was in. 'Wonder what happened there. It looks like a tornado had decided to blow through. Obviously not the place for me. I had best check the word on the street for the casino with the biggest ties to the Mob.'

Sammy began moving up and down the boardwalk, talking to various people about the different casinos, looking for the one that would put his foot in the door to Freedom City's underworld.

  11. I must say that your idea does show like just the place for my villian to get started with. I have him just arriving in the city and heading to the casinos. If you give a some time to make a name for myself in the city, then I see no problems working together. :)

Sammy Cosentino got off of the Greyhound bus and took a moment to look at his new home, Freedom City. He didn't like having to take the bus halfway across the country, but he wasn't doing very well financially. He had read a lot about the great city and knew that if was going to turn his luck around, this was the city to do it.

Sammy dipped his hands in his pockets to remove only a few dollars. The first thing he needed was money. And the best way of doing that was to try his luck at the casinos. Once he had a few dollars in his pocket, he could start looking for work.

Having decided to try his luck at the Atlantis casino, Sammy decides to paly Craps. It isn't long before he's won a large amount of money and begins drawing attention from the various people in the casino. Sammy is able to win $30 thousand by betting on Aces.

The impressive win draws the attention of Dorian Magnus, founder of Vulcan Technologies. Dorian invites Sammy to a drink and they begin to speak. The conversation ends with Sammy leaving with his money but not before the strangest events occur.

The casino, not liking losing so much money to a single person, sent their guards to teach Sammy a lesson. Sammy saw them coming and using his own ability to effect the laws of probability, caused the men to suffer from highly unlikely accidents.

Once outside, Sammy is approached by a man claiming to work for Dorian Magnus and is given a card with a number on it. Sammy promises to call the number after finding a place to stay.

It isn't long before Sammy comes across The Paltinum Palace. He quickly procures a room on the tenth room and introduces himself to his neighbors.

  17. Ok. I agree with Barnum that it's not limited enough to be a true limitation. It's about half-way between a complication and a power loss drawback. I'd lean toward complication, just because it is pretty hard to protect a large area with gold so that you can't Permeate through it. Everything looks good there. Once I have the clarification on what you want to do, I'm ready to approve you.

If the refs are in agreement, then it is simply a complication. I have no problem not gaining the points for limited Premeate. Considering that I didn't gain any points on it the way I wrote it up, shouldn't need to change anything unless you want me to write it clearer.
