  1. The difficulty there is that there's currently a very high player to referee ratio. We only have limited bandwidth, so whenever possible, we try to have hero PCs going up against villain PCs, since that gets the most players involved. As you said, we'd have to put time into it, so it wouldn't be happening right away. The Crime Syndicate would have to establish itself anyway.

I understand teh pressure the refs have to keep things running. What I would like to see is actually a line or two in the News forum about a hero once in a while. "Captain X has again saved the lives of the people in New York."

No need to have them actually in Freedom city to ruin the well thought out plans of the Crime Syndicate.

On that note, if you're a villain and you've started a thread which no PC heroes have responded to, please post in my "Looking for a storyline? (Redux)" thread. I'll see if I can bring in an NPC hero that makes sense within the context, though I can't promise that I'll respond quickly. I've already got a number of threads that I'm helping to run.

I know the feeling, though I wasn't yet looking for a hero to deal with, more likely just the various NPCs in the area. I'll be putting up some stuff towards that end soon. Of course I hope the NPC information in the Freedom City sourcebook hasn'T changed much from 1st ed to 2nd ed. :)

  3. With all the people looking to join the Crime Syndicate, you might run into trouble from the Crime League. I'm suddenly picturing a villain on villain melee - Dr. Stratos vs. Maelstrom, Collateral vs. Black Star, Dorian vs. Dr. Simian, Satori vs. Orion the Hunter...

I like this. Really. We'll see if it could work out that way.

Hmmm, the established villians verus the newcomers. Interesting angle. But only works if the Refs are willing to put time into it I think.

I mean, is there any real reason why there are any of the heros or villians from the Freedom City books in this world of ours? Would be nice to see one or two of them pop up in the news at least from time to time to remind everyone that they are around.

  6. Power freak. He's nothing but a spoiled rich kid with powers who wants everything his way.

Now that's going to make working with him difficult. Heck, most of the people in the group might simply want to rob him! :D

No, he should make a fine addition to cause mayhem all over the city.

  9. Is it possible for us to make NPCs to submit to the board for use? I would assume these NPCs are average people that can be interacted with by the various players,

In part, I'm interested since I wanted my villian to get in on the Mob scene before turning to a large role in the city. Would help if there were some interesting people to run into along the way.

  12. When I have GMed other games with a character who had Probability Control (only two games), I used the "Split Attack" option. We created a feat called "Split Probability" that worked just like Split Attack for Probability Control. Each rank of "Split Probability" allows you an additional die to split your PC over.

Example: LuckDude has Probability Control 14 [Power Feats: Split Probability 3].

In a single round he can make one roll a minimum roll of 14. Or he could divide that up over two rolls (e.g. 10 and 4). Or he could divide that up over three rolls (5, 5, and 4). Or he could divide it up over 4 rolls (3, 3, 3, and 5).

That's just my thought; the Refs would need to discuss this to reach a consensus. I'll pose it to them and report back to you, hopefully soon.

Thanks a lot. If my two cents counts, I'd like your way of handling it. It makes perfect sense and is reasonable to boot. Looking forward to hearing the results though.

  15. Then it looks like we might be able to work together. :D

Again, take your time as i want to get The Ghost known in the city before he teams up with many people. Also, it would help your spies actually find him.

  18. It sounds like a possiblity. My villian, The Ghost, is mainly out to rob bank, jewlery stories, and other lucrative locations. At least for the time being that is! :D

Right now, he's new to Freedom City and is looking for the who's who in the city. He's done jobs for the mob before in other cities, so that's where he's tryign to get started at right now.

It'll be a while before he gets to a point where he becomes the main force behind a big caper. For now, he's the specialist that the masterminds call in when they need something taken from a high security location. Who better to handle the job than The Ghost!

  21. First off, the Freedom City book is a very good investment if you intend to play on this board. Not indispensable, but it's outrageously useful for the price. Inside, there's literally hundreds of locations which would be fine targets for a heist. (Speaking of which, trying looking at the "Heist" thread in the North End, Downtown.) Here's a few choice locales:

    1. Haas Brothers Jewelers. A local chain of stores. Try the Riverside area in Downtown.

    2. ASTRO Labs. Technical Research Institute. Very high security, but very big payoff. In North End, Downtown.

    3. Freedom City Historical Museum. It's a museum. Rob it. In Midtown, Downtown.

You could simply start a thread, but you might have to "advertise" to get a hero to step in. And yes, you could simply say you robbed a low to mid security place. Somewhere like ASTRO labs would be a different story, though. As for reputation, if you pull it off right, as any good thief should, (but that's boring, right? :) ) you won't get one. But there are heroes out there that don't need to catch you in the act to catch you. Take Foreshadow, a hero in the Freedom City book, for example. He's got precognition. I think a couple other heroes have special senses that would help them out there.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll be looking into a lot of that. I have access to the 1st ed of Freedom City so that should help a lot.

So it's safe to say that the normal supers are also in town as well? Okay, I'll have to check up on who they are.

I wonder, could it be possible for a Ref to put up a thread somewhere that lists the established heroes and villians in the city for easy reference? Would help people pull in Npcs a lot better.

I'll also take your advice and look into the various locations and starting my own thread. We'll see how it goes from there.
