  1. Nightrival swings above the streets and through narrow alleys to reach his destination. He occasionally lands on a roof, races to the edge, and then somersaults into the air and onto an adjacent roof before he resumes swinging above the neighbourhood again. He knows many routes in the Southside that shorten his travel time, though being able to climb and jump over buildings has its advantages. As he draws closer to the location he spots Avenger in the open stoop. How'd he get 'ere so fast? he thinks. He lets go of the swingline and lands with roll. Using the shadows to conceal his presence, he slinks up to Avenger. "You gotta Avenger-mobile or somethin'? Dang, yer fast. Anyway, what do ya see?"
  2. "Nice hit," says Nightrival, admiring Avenger's handiwork. "He's gonna feel that in th' mornin'. I know th' guys he was talkin' 'bout. They can get dangerous but they're not th' most subtle. We should meet 'bout a block away and scope out the scene 'fore chargin' in. I'll find ya there." Nightrival slips into the shadows behind him and vanishes into thin air.
  3. Upon closer inspection, Nightrival finds Avenger to be out of place, like a grain of salt on a mound of pepper. He knows the difference between someone who works on the street and someone who doesn't. For a crime-fighter with so much physical strength and the ability to make men like Spaleni cower, he looks as though he'd rather be elsewhere. Nightrival wonders who this new player is, but he'll have to leave that question in the back of his mind for the time being. "I know th' place he's talkin' 'bout," he says. "We can get there in no time."
  4. I rolled a 24 on Nightrival's Streetwise check to see if he knows anything else about the Posse.
  5. I rolled a 26 for Nightrival's Sense Motive check against Avenger. I hope I roll this well in combat! :D
  6. Nightrival sees right through Spaleni's deceit. His eyes look dull and menacing rather than wild and panicked. Spaleni's words ring hollow in his ears. Nightrival drops his shoulders and takes a step back. "Yeah, whatever," he says to Spaleni. "Yer a worse liar than Smash, an' he ain't excatly th' brightest bulb in th' box. " He turns to Avenger. "A'right, I believe ya. Let's bag this guy an' check out this spot ya told me 'bout. I'm inta crackin' some skulls tonight."
  7. Nightrival tips his head to the side. He doesn't exactly trust this Avenger at the moment, though he seems sincere. Then again, the man struggling under Avenger's grip is pretty sincere too. Nightrival doesn't care if this man is a crook or not, he won't tolerate wanton murder in the Southside. "Wha' does he mean, turn his crew ta Jello?" he asks, taking a step closer. "Ain't no one snappin' necks in my 'hood. Ya better explain yerself 'fore I lend ya a hand."
  8. I agree. I would be into pursuing that story again. :)
  9. Here I was thinking I rolled too low. :)
  10. Nightrival unclenches his fists when he sees Avenger release the man. He can tell by Avenger's posture that he probably won't be able to hit Nightrival, but Nightrival could have trouble doing the same to him. Hauling a full-grown human being up in the air is no small feat, however. He doesn't want to be on the buisness end of Avenger's fist. "I got no problem wit' other capes workin' this side o' town, as long as they play by th' rules. Zombie powder comes through here time ta time. I won't tolerate it." He points to the man being held by Avenger. "Whos' this guys friends? Maybe I can help."
  11. Thanks! It's time to send Nightrival to the big leagues.
  12. Nightrival is going to try to size up Avenger. If not now than later on I'll try using the Assessment feat, and my roll is 19.
  13. Nightrival tips his head to the side when Aristodemus aburptly turns to leave. "If yer interested, we meet at Monty's Garage," he says as Aristodemus walks out of the store. He watches the hero for a moment then turns to Arrowhawk. "Well, that was . . . interesin' ta say th' least. A man o' few words and all that. So, how about it? Ya inta join' up? Ya can handle yerself inna fight and we can use that."
  14. Nightrival appears to glide over the rooftops, hidden within the shadows. He's been enjoying these nightly patrols. The Southside has been quiet for a few weeks. The gangs are in check and there has been no sign of Hieronymus King's activities. He can focus on keeping the streets safe from garden variety crooks rather than robots and mutants. He hears the sounds of fighting directly below him, someone being threatened and then struck with a terrible blow. He removes a swing line from his belt, hooks it onto the edge of the roof, and then swings down to the alley in one motion. Nightrival stands behind someone in a costume looming over a helpless man. He balls his fists and steps closer. "Ya must be new around 'ere," he growls. "I gotta say, yer not gonna make any new friends by beatin' 'em. Especially in my neighbourhood. Why don't ya let 'em go so's I can give ya a proper welcome?"
  15. It appears that the DCAU generator was taken down recently. Most likely a copyright issue. That's really too bad, I enjoyed designing characters with it. Does anyone know of another generator that makes characters in the DCAU style?
  16. I agree. We have reached the point where we come together as a team. We should wait for the others to return to the store to finalize our plans. Once that's done, where do you guys want to go from here?
  17. "We can help ya with whatever case yer workin' on," Nightrival says to Arrowhawk. "Sometimes our cases overlap, ya know?" "Costumes are optional," he replies to Aristodemus with a chuckle. "Though ya might wanta conceal yer identity somehow. I dunno. It's up ta ya, really." "We gotta a meetin' place in th' Southside and a contact in th' Freedom League," he continues. "We just need more folks in our roster. We can wait fer those other guys ta come back and see what they think."
  18. I tried to find a post with the same question but I didn't come across one. Players are allowed +3 / -3 maximum trade-off for attack and defense bonuses. Is there an overall cap on those bonuses? For example, I have PL 12 character and I would like increase his attack and defenses bonuses to +15. Is that too high?
  19. "Right," replies Nightrival. "Good thing ya were passin' through. I dunno if we coulda took on these two on our own. That's why we're puttin' a team together so we can handle guys like Smash and Grab. Ya know, we're lookin' ta recruit more members. Ya'll interested in bein' in one o' those superhero teams?" He looks around the store again to call over Hub. The other hero is apparently gone, or is still hiding. "My teammate Hub was 'ere a second ago. He's probably 'elpin' out the customers or somethin'."
  20. Meanwhile, inside the record shop, Nightrival scratches his head as he looks down at Smash's unconscious form. "We should call th' cops or the army or somethin', 'fore this guy wakes up," he says to the others. "Luckily, ya guys were in the neighbourhood ta help out. Ya'll inta music or somethin'?"
  21. I have 1 PP to spend on Nightrival. I would like to bring his Defensive Roll feat up to rank 5, giving him a Toughness save of +9. Thanks! Done by Sandman XI
  22. Nightrival can feel the bones in his hand rattle when he hits Smash and watches as the brute takes two more strikes before toppling to the ground. He straightens up and looks around the store to survey the damage and search for Hub. He's disappointed that Grab managed to escape, though luckily none of the customers were badly hurt. He did notice a familiar red-and-gold blur in the distance moving in Grab's direction. Maybe she won't get far after all? Nightrival turns to the other heroes in the store. "That was some decent fightin' back there," he says. "Nice to meet ya, Arrowhawk. I'm Nightrival. I was checkin' out a lead with my friend - we're in this team - and then these two suddenly went off th' chain.
  23. I have 1 PP to spend on ol' Nightrival, so I'd like to bring his Defensive Roll feat from rank 3 to 4, bringing his Toughness save to +8. Thanks!
  24. Nightrival does the one thing any decent fighter would do if he swings too wide: he follows through with another strike to make sure he doesn't get tagged by his opponent. After he pops back up from ducking under Smash's punch, he slams both escrima staves directly into the giant man's solar plexus. Nightrival then backflips five feet back to avoid Smash's massive hands. He stands at the ready, brandishing his staves with gleam of malice flashing in his eyes. "Yer a lot slower than I expected!" he quips. "Word on th' street is that yer the baddest game in town."
  25. I have 1 PP to spend on Nightrival. I would like to increase his CON to 18 from 17. That brings his Toughness up to +7. Thanks! Updated
