  1. I can definitely recommend Ultimate Power, since at least for me it taught me how powers are put together. The "new" powers in Chapter 3 can also work as an exercise in the scope of what you can do with Feats, Extras and Flaws when applied to a power. I'd quote examples if I had the book, but going by memory: "Stop Time" is a power in Ultimate Power, but I think it's built as an Area Effect Snare that also affects objects. No doubt someone will correct me if I've not got the mechanics right, but hopefully my point is that I'm backing up what Veiled Malice said above: you can construct pretty much any power from the ones listed in the core book.

  3. It makes sense for the Pheromones power, I suppose. The "love me" message is already built in so you'd be resisting that with your willpower. I just want the power to act like the "truth" drugs given to people under interrogation, aimed at breaking down their mental resistance. So I think I'll go with the Fortitude save for Drain, and then whammy them with whatever manipulation power I take (haven't quite decided yet), which will be a Will save.

  6. I'll have to look up the Pheromones power when I get home, which I think is in Ultimate Power. It might be exactly what I'm looking for.

  9. Well I'd picture them resisting the Drain with a regular Constitution / Fortitude Save, since it'd be their resistance to the chemical. But yeah, Sense Dependent works.

  12. I'm thinking about making a villain that's able to manipulate emotions. Apart from taking Emotion Control, I was thinking about taking a power that drains their ability to resist. Since I've not got access to the books at work, a couple of questions: 1) Is Drain (Will Save) a valid application? 2) I imagine it as a "breath weapon" - i.e. at close range the character can breathe a cloud of chemicals in the target's face. Would it be reduced down to touch range?

  15. I figure running Cold and Distraction at Rank 3 each (25 ft radius) should be enough to cover the mummy, right? If so, I'll put the other points in the Dynamic Array into Air Control, just in case I have to deflect some falling masonry from some bystanders. If not, I'll run whatever rank of each is necessary to cover the mummy without impeding anyone else too much.

  18. Crud! There were still some people in harm's way; sometimes human instinct did exactly the wrong thing. Mark's first priority was slowing that bag of bandages down. Feeling his power uncoiling in his mind, he released it in stages as he'd been trained to do - the last thing he wanted was for his power to run wild now. Feeling it spread throughout his body, he uncurled his fingers as if gently releasing a ball. The effect done, he looked to his left and noticed a young woman moving at astonishing speed, flinging projectiles at their mutual target. He thought he recognised the costume - Celerity, or something like that. Turning back to the mummy, he could already see that the area around it was getting thick with the beginnings of a blizzard. As soon as he could see that the creature was slowed down, Mark began to move towards the cowering families.
  19. Heh, I've been marking the occasion by reading some Halloween Chick tracts. They make me laugh so hard, although that might be because my heart is black with evil.
