The Handyman: 20 Questions

 

1.       Where is your hero from?

 

Freedom City

 

2.       How would your hero physically describe him/herself? Is this different from how others would?

 

A bit rugged, but not handsome. A slightly imposing air, but otherwise of fairly average build.

 

3.       Does your hero have distinguishing speech characteristics or recurring mannerisms?

 

He smokes a bit, and has a tendency to deal a pack of playing cards when waiting or bored (doing trick and stunt shuffles).

 

4.       What is your hero's motivation?

 

Serving AEGIS

 

5.       What are your hero's greatest strengths and weaknesses?

 

His greatest strengths are his skill at deception and sleight of hand, plus his powers. And, of course, the inventiveness with which he uses them. His greatest weakness is his psychological conditioning; he can be manipulated and controlled.

 

6.       What does your hero love? What does your hero hate?

 

He loves his mother and sister, and hates his brother.

 

7.       How would you describe your character's mental and emotional state?

 

Very fractured. Firstly, he has had some scrambling of his brains after being exposed to a quantum field gun. Secondly, and much more importantly, he volunteered for experimental psychological rehabilitation, leaving him with many of his criminal flaws plus complete obedience to his job.

 

8.       What does your hero fear the most?

 

Intimidation.

 

9.       What is your character's greatest ambition?

 

Save the world. Or steal something hugely valuable. Or both.

 

10.   How does your hero feel about the state of the world and his/her place in it?

 

The world needs AEGIS, and he is proud to be part of it.

 

11.   Does your hero have any prejudices? How does he/she get along with others?

 

None. He gets along well enough with others, being friendly and charming; unless he is found stealing from them.

 

12.   Where do your heroes loyalties lie? In what order?

 

AEGIS, the Government, the Military.

 

13.   Does your hero have a lover or partner? How do they feel about the hero now?

 

No.

 

14.   Does your hero have a family? What is the relationship there like?

 

He has a rather sultry and chaotic sister, Amber, with whom he has a warm (and chaotic) relationship. He has a tough as nails and hard as stone brother, Ace, with whom he has an exceptionally poor relationship (Ace was a bit of a bully, and despised his brother for being a crook). He has an infirm mother, whom he worries about.

 

15.   How would the people closest to your hero describe him or her?

 

Charming, conflicted, and friendly.

 

16.   Is your hero a role model?

 

Both yes, in his role as AEGIS agent, and no, if one truly knows him.

 

17.   How spiritual is your hero? Does your hero follow a religious tradition?

 

He is a lapsed catholic.

 

18.   Is your hero part of a team, or would he/she like to be? Why?

 

He is part of AEGIS, and fanatically loyal to them.

 

19.   How does your hero feel about the place of metahumans and aliens on Earth?

 

Potential threats. Potential assets. But mainly the former.

 

20.   If you could give one piece of advice to your hero, what would it be?

 

Fight the conditioning!
