Hair: Brown Eyes: Hazel Description: NeuroLogic is a self made woman by any standard. She was put up for adoption by her parents as an infant, and was adopted at the age of 2 by the Cognids. Her childhood was not a happy one, her foster parents were abusive, but managed to conceal their cruelty from Child Services. Furthermore, she was frequently in trouble with authority, as she was a mild kleptomaniac. She did well in school, however, and earned a full scholarship to a prestigious university. While studying there, she became involved in Neurology research under one of her professors. It was her work which led to the breakthrough: a serum that acted on the axons of mice, speeding neural transmission and greatly enhancing problem solving capabilities. Her professor refused to give her credit for the discovery, saying she had a long career ahead of her, and many more opportunities, while this was HIS last shot at fame. So, she did what anyone with her combination of talents and proclivities would do. She stole the serum. Furthermore, curiosity got the better of her, and she tried a little herself. What happened next has been described in many ways, but her favorite is "Malign Hypercognition with accompanying Paranormal Manifestations." In other words, she became very smart, very amoral, and psionic. Her first step was to visit her professor. She compacted him into a soup can and launched him high into the air. She stopped by the dorm long enough to pick up a scarf, which she used to cover her face before stealing a truck and ripping out the wall of the local E-Sea Bank. The truck was found the next day, with no fingerprints or any clues as to who had stolen it. The Professor Harrington left behind a note for his wife, written in his own hand, that he had moved to Canada with his mistress. Of all the night's events, nobody could follow what had happened well enough to trace it back to Sara. The money used from her robbery went into a suit she designed to mesh with the psionic effects of the serum: it harnessed her powers into a force field, and gave her the power of flight. She continued in this pattern for the next year, committing super-powered crimes throughout New England, until she earned her bachelor's degree. Now, she is coming to Freedom City, hoping to hit the big time. She has no ambition of ruling the world, or taking over a company, or in fact ever taking responsibility for anything ever again, merely of having as much fun as she can stealing massive sums of money and lording it over the useless, driveling peons around her. Of course, if she can find and crush some of the idiot supers calling themselves heroes, she'll have an easier time of it. And who knows? They might be strong enough to be fun before they die. Neurologic is a dangerous opponent, having both formidable mental powers and having studied Judo all three years of College. She is vicious, cruel, and psychotic, and can be counted on to try to do whatever it takes to stop her opponents. If that means threatening or killing innocent bystanders, so be it. If it means teaming up with another villain, she'll do it without blinking, but her ally should be careful he doesn't wind up with a knife in his back.   2. Actually, NM, I've been crunching the numbers and there's no way for me to make the character work and grow fast enough and still be a reasonable threat in combat. I'm scrapping this character. Sorry for wasting your time, I'll be back with something better.
  3. You're correct about the damage, but the stored energy he has can sustain him. It's only when he's out of stored energy the drain to his abilities start. Since he has a capacity of 140 pts (2800 minutes, or about 2 days with slow fade) I see this as a weakness most noticeable in combat, where he's spending energy on a regular basis to improve his strength, and thus damage, or to do some healing on attacks he would be weak to. On the subject of attack/defense, I've waffled a bit. I don't think I want to put points in defense, but maybe some attack specialization (unarmed strike) After all, he can see out of his extremities, it would make sense for them to sort of "home in." I didn't put it because I'm worried about running close to overbudget, but if you think it's a good idea, I will.

Due to a lab accident a small portion of it imprinted an extremely complex energy pattern and became self aware, and for all intents and purposes alive. It was flushed into the underbelly of the city, where it has spent the last 3 days growing. It is now emerging from the sewers, curious about the world it finds itself in. History: The history of Goo is the History of Compound XJ3397661921. The compound is a memory gel, composed of an interesting and unique combination of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen. The compound was initially discovered serving as insulation for a crashed spaceship of unknown origin, and tests proved it had a remarkable property. When exposed to carbon dioxide and heat, electricity, kinetic, or any other type of available energy it would bond the carbon dioxide onto it's polymers, resulting in growth. Safety tests were underway to see if it had any ill effects before releasing it to the public as a fire retardent, but fate had other plans in store. The nature of the accident can only be guessed (the best hypothesis is that the compound's energy capacity was overloaded, combusting it), but it left two scientists dead, blew all of the building's fuses, and destroyed the entirety of the stock of the compound. Or so investigators thought. A small portion of the gel had been flushed into the sewers, imprinted with an energy pattern that grew exponentially in complexity. It became self aware, and with the aid of a broken light-bulb still in a live circuit, it grew. Now, after many days in the sewers, its burgeoning mind is now longer content with merely feeding and surviving, it wants to explore and understand the strange world it finds itself in.   6. I realize how expensive it's going to be, I've done a mock up (not the final version, it needs editing). It's made even more expensive by the fact that it includes physical damage as per the both types extra. If you've ever encountered a hagfish, you know that the slime just keeps growing the more you prod/pull/slap it. Same deal with this gel. Thanks for the welcome and the validation.
  7. Hello there, I'm new to these forums and thought it would be best to introduce myself and my favorite character concept before posting it for approval. I personally am a semi-intelligent ape-thing from the planet earth, notably different from my peers due to my level of calm, cool intellect roughly on par with that of a rabid lemming. I have high hopes that future generations of my species will only be an improvement. I am interested in and studying biology. My character concept (PL 10) is a new (experimental) fire retardant gel: it grows by consuming carbon dioxide in response to virtually any form of energy (absorbtion 14), eventually denaturing and reverting harmlessly to water and graphite. Due to a lab accident a small portion of it imprinted an extremely complex energy pattern and became self aware, and for all intents and purposes alive. It was flushed into the underbelly of the city, where it has spent the last 3 days growing. It is capable of duplicating many shapes and forms (insubstantial 1, morph 5, elongation) and splitting and recombining in a form of fission (anatomic separation). If it lacks stored energy, it begins to denature (weakness: -1 to all ability scores on a 20 minute basis) and so it seeks out sources of electricity/fire/etc to refuel itself regularly. It doesn't start out as a hero or villain, and I intend to roleplay it's growth from a formless but intelligent potential into a complex and interesting individual. What do you think?
